Full textThe elite of the South Korean state in power between 1961 and 1992 ruled the country by imposing an authoritative military regime. The economic development and, since 1987, the democratic transition towards a civil regime characterize this socially explosive period. A qualitative analysis of the biographical data published in works like Who's who, which concern the 47 members of this leading elite of the State, made it possible to describe the networks of relations which exist beteween the members of this group, since their youth, for the schools ties or for the bonds established at the time of the professional beginnings. The networks mobilized at the time of the accession to power are mentioned to understand the criteria of recruitment. We also showed what occurs in the after-power period in term of networks mobilization in order to preserve an influence or a statute, to even make a professional reconversion. Besides the bonds related to education in Korea or abroad, or bonds tied at the time of the professional life, it is necessary to hold account of the blood ties, which themselves are strongly marked by the regional origin of the individuals

Full textTo explain one of the reasons of social movement's emergence, we emphasized the importance of the " persuasion " processes of individuals, especially their active role in those processes. For that purpose, it is essential to analyze not only the political processes but also the cultural aspects of movements. In particular, to analyze how the actors create their proper identity, which allows us to combine theses two aspects. It is useful to study the role of emotions, not as the direct element of mass mobilizations but as a mediator between individuals and the society. Because the emotions are also one of the results of socialization: they depend on the traditions as well as on cognitive evaluations. With these perspectives, this paper treats the case of South Korea's student movements in 80s. It is composed with three parts: an historical analysis of student movements, their social and organizational aspects and the cultural and political dimensions of the movement

Full textFrance, now free, but still suffering from the occupation trauma, politically must begin again from scratch in order to obliterate everything relating to Vichy authority. Thus, not without great difficulty, the country would be endowed with a new Constitution and a Republic determined to be strong and egalitarian. Now the IVth Republic, subject to many cabinet changes, would be a Republic of conflict and struggles between parties and opposition parties who would forget above all, to insure a real Defense policy. Indeed, soldiers will pay a high price since wars, inevitably launched are costly in human lives and result in, more or less, predictable issues in short or middle terms. Unflaggingly, throughout 12 years, the Republic, without questioning its failures, will send innocent youths to die for a cause lost in advance, and above all unplanned. Who are the servicemen ? How have they survived these wars know as the "Colonials"? Who are the politicians ? How have they live through their figheadedness, in desiring to maintain these colonies "no matter the cost, and by all means". This research, throughout the lives of the two Creste Brothers, attemps to reply to these questions, and is especially ambitious to prove that these soldiers were not fooled. They were aware that they fought for "The Honours and Glory" and that those who governed, had not accurate policy as to their commitments

Full textFor already sixty years, Korea has been divided into two states, the Popular Democratic Republic of Korea in the North and the Republic of Korea in the South. The Korean civilisation exists in the korean peninsula since the era of the prehistory. The Korean nation will develop itself progressively and will be unified before its annexion by Japan from 1910 until 1945. Afterwards Korea will be free from Japan thanks to the armed intervention of the soviet troups above the 38th parallel and of the american troups below. This temporary demarcation line will become definitive after the creation of two governments and the occupation of the South by the american army. The Korean war from 1950 until 1953 will make the situation worse leaving side by side two governments leading to recurrent political and military conflicts. Because of this division imposed from the outside, the two Korean states came closer to each other to cooperate in certain fields. However the korean reunification seems to be compromised since the conservative government in the South came into power and refused the korean peninsula to be reunified using the system of confederation, the Republic of Korea prefering absorbing the North. The problem of the reunification overtake the borders of the peninsula. It concerns above all China and the United States. Japan is also concerned. Europe is missing from the debates. The Federation of Russia seems to be the only big power having no objection to the reunification of the korean peninsula and ready to help Korea to accomplish this goal
