In this work, a computationally efficient solution for constraint management of square multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems is presented. The solution, referred to as the Decoupled Reference Governor (DRG), maintains the highly-attractive computational features of scalar reference governors (SRG) compared to Vector Reference Governor (VRG) and Command Governor (CG). This work focuses on square MIMO systems that already achieve the desired tracking performance. This dissertation surveys the constitutional evolution of the Canadian governor general’s role between 1847 and 1878. It analyses incidents in the terms of five consecutive governors general—Elgin, Sir Edmund Head, Monch, Lisgar, and Dufferin—and explores how each interpreted his loosely-defined role. This dissertation presents a study of the gentry and their role as governors in the counties of Middlesex and Essex, 1558-1625. It explores the ways in which the gentry exercised authority in a number of social roles, concentrating specifically on their activities as landlords and as officeholders. This provides an opportunity for assessing the ways in which social and political identities overlapped in early modern society.
