Undoubtedly, unemployment mostly affects young graduates who recently graduated from higher learning institutions. Thus, internships are increasingly recognised as a bridge through which graduates can transition from higher learning institutions to the labour market. Abstract:
Urban Employment Programmes have been emerging as a response to the crisis of employment faced in Indian urban areas. The quantity of jobs being generated has been inadequate, as the following statistics indicate. Employment trends highlight an urban unemployment rate of 6.6 percent, accompanied by a 23.4 percent unemployment rate for youth urban females and 15.9 percent for youth urban males (PLFS Rate of Unemployment, April – June 23)i . New research by Azim Premji University’s Centre for Sustainable Employment (CSE) notes that over 42 percent of India’s graduates under 25 were unemployed in

The Panamanian economy performed spectacularly starting in 1989, growing at an average real rate of 6% per year for thirty years. It was the highest registered in the Latin American Region and one of the highest globally. In addition, important achievements were obtained that were not achieved in other countries inside and outside the region. The middle class expanded and strengthened. The general poverty level fell from 37.9% in 2000 to 21.5% in 2019, and the extreme poverty level from 21.9% to 10.0%, mainly due to transfers from low-income households. In 2024, the macroeconomic adjustment process continued, characterized by a sustained reduction in inflation that began in 2023 and a decline in the current account deficit of the balance of payments. This adjustment took place in the context of a contractionary monetary policy, with a gradual reduction in the monetary policy interest rate. GDP grew by 1.7%, driven by investment and consumption, while employment increased by 2.2%. Foreign reserves remained at adequate levels, and Banco de la República recorded a profit of COP 10,041 billion, benefiting from the returns on foreign reserves. Mac

1.1 Macroeconomic summary Economic recovery has consistently outperformed the technical staff’s expectations following a steep decline in activity in the second quarter of 2020. At the same time, total and core inflation rates have fallen and remain at low levels, suggesting that a significant element of the reactivation of Colombia’s economy has been related to recovery in potential GDP. This would support the technical staff’s diagnosis of weak aggregate demand and ample excess capacity. The most recently available data on 2020 growth suggests a contraction in economic activity of 6.8%, lowe

While inflation fell significantly in 2024, it continues above the 3% target. However, monetary policy measures and corrections in particular factors that exert upward price pressures have helped direct inflation toward the objective. Economic activity continues to recover and is expected to continue growing. The monetary policy interest rate is compatible with the convergence of inflation to its 3% target and the gradual recovery of economic growth toward more sustainable levels. Inflation has fallen significantly, from 9.3% in 2023 to 5.2% in 2024. During this year and into the next, inflati

Inflation continues to decline, although it is still above the 3% target. Monetary policy measures and correcting factors that pushed prices up are helping inflation to continue approaching the target. Economic activity is recovering to a sustainable level, unemployment has decreased, and the external deficit continues to reduce. The monetary policy interest rate is compatible with inflation being close to the target by the end of 2025 and with the gradual recovery of economic growth. In the third quarter, headline inflation continued to decrease and is expected to continue doing so gradually

Inflation continues to decline but remains well above 3%. It is anticipated to decrease significantly in 2024 and draw closer to the established target in the first half of 2025. The ongoing moderation in the economy's price levels is evidenced by the decline in headline inflation from 11% to 9.3% between September and December 2023. A noteworthy contributor to the decrease in inflation has been the reduction of food prices adjustments throughout 2023, complemented by favorable trends in the price of goods. The decrease in inflation has, however, been constrained by the behavior of the price o

In March, inflation decreased - although less than anticipated - and remains above the 3% target. Over the next two years, it is expected that inflation will continue to decline, converging gradually toward the target. In March, annual headline inflation stood at 5.1% - slightly above the forecast - due to upward surprises in regulated items such as gas and urban transportation, as well as increases in processed foods. The decline in inflation is largely attributed to the cumulative effects of a still-restrictive monetary policy stance, indexation to lower inflation rates, and the moderation o
