Abstract:
Due to the development of technology in film and video in a decade, there are many opportunities for a graphic designer for more experiments in the moving images. This development brings convenience for both video technology and data transfer or video result, which allows a graphic designer not only saw one static design in print media, but make it more active and dynamic. For instance, if a logo created in motion version, this will enrich and convey the meaning behind the logo, although it appears briefly in 5 seconds duration. A graphic design does not have to be a static or passive; it can float, jump, fly, dance and also change shape into different shapes. After defining the visual elements in motion, it can be achieved stunning results. Some made by techniques which are difficult, and mostly we ask how this could be done.

Abstract:
Nowadays, the units with a fluidized bed hold a special place among all heat-mass transfer plants currently used in industry. First of all, it is due to the highly developed surface of interaction between the fluidizing agent (air) and dispersed materials in such units, their low hydraulic resistance, relatively simple design and small sizes. At the same time, the units with a centrifugal fluidized bed, which is formed in an annular channel of the working chamber when a fluidizing agent is added under the fixed angle, are of particular interest. Currently, a limited number of experimental and theoretical studies of hydrodynamics and heat-mass transfer in a fluidized bed are known. Besides, these studies were carried out mainly in respect to regenerative heat exchangers and absorbers. In this regard, such studies in respect to the devices for other purposes, such as dryers, seem to be relevant. The results of these studies are the scientific backgrpund for development of an engineering calculation methodology of such units and their design. The study has been carried out based on an experimental plant using means for measuring temperature, relative air humidity, differential pressure, air velocity, and moisture content of solids. A TPM 148 PID controller has been used as a secondary device. Experimental data have been recorded in MasterSCADA SCADA system. Data processing has been carried out using interpolation by cubic splines. The article describes in detail an experimental plant that allows carrying out a full factor experiment to study the hydrodynamic and thermal parameters of a convective dryer with a centrifugal fluidized bed. The article presents the results of a preliminary series of experiments in which silica gel is used as a dispersed material. As a result of visual observations over the dispersed material in the working chamber, the values of the minimum and maximum speed of the drying agent have been determined. The grafic relationship of the hydraulic resistance of the working chamber and the height of the material layer are obtained depending on the speed of the drying agent and the mass of the material, as well as the temperature and moisture content of the material and the drying agent depending on the drying time. The results obtained make it possible to determine the design and operational parameters of the centrifugal fluidized bed drying plant and select a fan to supply the drying agent.

Architects draw to present their projects. To demonstrate, through experiments charts their projects, they run through several forms of representation derived from geometric systems and tooling. Their procedures resort to various tooling and supports, and produce different representations. The answers to the questions of how the architects present their projects are the guiding thread of this study. The goal is to achieve answers to the problems that permeate the communicated representation and elaborate through the design of architecture. Understand and learn the drawings used by architects as a means of reflection and communication. The ways in which the design operates architecture and urbanism are forms of reflection and thought. In the case of architecture are the means of object creation and communication that enable its implementation or construction. Other abstract records can also be used as schemas, tables, figures or diagrams that allow other procedural and communication strategies. When dealing with contemporary modes of presentation of projects and having as object significant projects of contemporary, were elected for this study three projects representing different periods, namely: the Parc de La Villette, Paris, France, Bernard Tschumi (1983), the McCormick Tribune Campus Center at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, USA, OMA / Rem Koolhaas (2003) and the 8House in Ørestad, Denmark, the BIG Bjarke Ingles Group (2010). Through close reading of these projects in parallel with the speech intended to representations of the same by their authors, and by understanding and using graphics engines for interpretation, this work studied how they were intended to present their proposals and procedures of design that were used for this purpose . The drawings were analyzed seeking to deepen all the elements and processes involved in the determination and communication of data represented.

Abstract:
This thesis is based on a research that has its starting point on the author's personal perceptions of similarities in the creative process in his two areas of work: graphic design and artistic drawing. To investigate the existence of such similarities, first a theoretical research is done on these areas, providing a brief historical approach up until their manners of existence in postmodernity, with special attention to the transformative role played by digital technology. Some contemporary strategies are described for the creation of images in design and visual arts, in which both aesthetic and procedural similarities are identified. Secondly, personal creation processes are analyzed in order to demonstrate the existence of such similarities and to identify their origin. Finally, an examination is done of the testimonies of professionals also dedicated to graphic design and drawing, in which different ways of interaction are seen, and distancing, transpositions, collaborations and cooperation between these areas are perceived.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This study is supposed to shed light on the design process behind album covers in the genre rock and give information about what should be displayed on them. Herein it is presented information about how the graphics on a record cover was relevant and didn’t follow the otherwise assumed declining trend. To be able to answer the goals set for the study, a visual content analysis was done and complementary information was gathered via searches on the internet. The aim with the study was to visually analyze cover art in the genre rock from three different countries of origin, these were Sweden, Great Britain and USA. Via the visual content analysis, categories and themes were structured. There were also created three different album covers, one for each country of origin that were based on the information of what should typically exist on the cover. Herein it is shown that designs from Great Britain and USA are much alike, whereas Sweden has a different style. In the study there was presented who decides the design of a new album and also concludes that from the albums in this content analysis there cannot be proven any designer who sets the generic tone for others.

Abstract:
Hur hamnar mikroplast i Östersjön?
How does microplastics end up in the Baltic sea? Which are the sources, how does the process look and how does it affect the environment and the wildlife? This thesis examines how this process can be portrayed in an accurate way while still satisfying information requirements, the context and the target audience. The focus is on how complex processes are visualized in a way that promote understanding while creating interest. The study began with research based on the requirements set for the material and continued with theory formation to guide the design process. In addition, three similar artefacts related to the subject were analysed. The design process resulted in a prototype that was tested on the target audience to see the efficiency and to identify shortcomings. The results of these methods influenced the design and the shortcomings found were improved. It resulted in a final design that could be evaluated.    The conclusion of the study is that processes of this kind can advantageously present the entities in an accurate order with a clearly marked starting point and graphical codes that show the interaction between entities. To visualize a complex process with numerous elements can result in a messy material, therefore key elements in the graphic should stand out to facilitate perception and create an overview of the artefact as a whole. The design of a process can be aesthetically appealing, however, purely decorative elements should be avoided.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Surveys often require monitoring during data collection to ensure progress in meeting goals or to evaluate the interim results of an embedded experiment. Under complex designs, the amount of data available to monitor may be overwhelming and the production of reports and charts can be costly and time consuming. This is especially true in the case of longitudinal surveys, where data may originate from multiple waves. Other such complex scenarios include adaptive and responsive designs, which were developed to act on the results of such monitoring to implement prespecified options or alternatives in protocols. This paper discusses the development of an interactive web-based data visualization tool, the Adaptive Total Design (ATD) Dashboard, which we designed to provide a wide array of survey staff with the information needed to monitor data collection daily. The dashboard was built using the R programming language and Shiny framework and provides users with a wide range of functionality to quickly assess trends. We present the structure of the data used to populate the dashboard, its design, and the process for hosting it on the web. Furthermore, we provide guidance on graphic design, data taxonomy, and software decisions that can help guide others in the process of developing their own data collection monitoring systems. To illustrate the benefits of the dashboard, we present examples from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (Add Health). We also discuss features of the dashboard to be developed for future waves of Add Health.

Abstract:
The phenotypic analysis of new candidate varieties at multiple locations could provide information on the stability of their genotypes. We evaluated the stability of 11 maize hybrid candidates in five districts in East Java Province, Indonesia. Maize hybrids with high yield potential and early maturity traits derived from a diallel cross were planted in a randomized complete block design with two checks (Srikandi Kuning and BISI-2) as a single factor with four replicates. The observed traits were grain yield per hectare and harvest age. The effects of environment, genotype, and genotype × environment interaction on yield were highly significant (P < 0.01). KTM-1, KTM-2, KTM-4, KTM-5, and KTM-6 showed higher average grain yield per hectare than the checks (Srikandi Kuning = 8.49 ton ha−1 and BISI-2 = 7.32 ton ha−1) at five different locations. The average harvest age of 11 candidates was less than 100 days. KTM-4 and KTM-5 had production yields that were higher than the average yield of all genotypes in all environments (Yi > 7.78 tons ha−1) and were considered stable on the basis of three stability parameters, i.e., Finlay–Wilkinson, Eberhart–Russell, and additive main effect multiplicative interaction (AMMI). KTM-2 had the highest yield among all tested genotypes (9.33 ton ha−1) and was considered as stable on the basis of AMMI but not on the basis of Finlay–Wilkinson and Eberhart–Russell. KTM-1 performed well only in Pamekasan, whereas KTM-6 performed well only in Sampang. Thus, these two genotypes could be targeted for these specific locations.

Wells, Aaron, Tracy Christopherson, Gerald Frost, Matthew Macander, Susan Ives, Robert McNown, and Erin Johnson. Ecological land survey and soils inventory for Katmai National Park and Preserve, 2016–2017. National Park Service, September 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.36967/nrr-2287466.

Full text
Abstract:
This study was conducted to inventory, classify, and map soils and vegetation within the ecosystems of Katmai National Park and Preserve (KATM) using an ecological land survey (ELS) approach. The ecosystem classes identified in the ELS effort were mapped across the park, using an archive of Geo-graphic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) datasets pertaining to land cover, topography, surficial geology, and glacial history. The description and mapping of the landform-vegetation-soil relationships identified in the ELS work provides tools to support the design and implementation of future field- and RS-based studies, facilitates further analysis and contextualization of existing data, and will help inform natural resource management decisions. We collected information on the geomorphic, topographic, hydrologic, pedologic, and vegetation characteristics of ecosystems using a dataset of 724 field plots, of which 407 were sampled by ABR, Inc.—Environmental Research and Services (ABR) staff in 2016–2017, and 317 were from existing, ancillary datasets. ABR field plots were located along transects that were selected using a gradient-direct sampling scheme (Austin and Heligers 1989) to collect data for the range of ecological conditions present within KATM, and to provide the data needed to interpret ecosystem and soils development. The field plot dataset encompassed all of the major environmental gradients and landscape histories present in KATM. Individual state-factors (e.g., soil pH, slope aspect) and other ecosystem components (e.g., geomorphic unit, vegetation species composition and structure) were measured or categorized using standard classification systems developed for Alaska. We described and analyzed the hierarchical relationships among the ecosystem components to classify 92 Plot Ecotypes (local-scale ecosystems) that best partitioned the variation in soils, vegetation, and disturbance properties observed at the field plots. From the 92 Plot Ecotypes, we developed classifications of Map Ecotypes and Disturbance Landscapes that could be mapped across the park. Additionally, using an existing surficial geology map for KATM, we developed a map of Generalized Soil Texture by aggregating similar surficial geology classes into a reduced set of classes representing the predominant soil textures in each. We then intersected the Ecotype map with the General-ized Soil Texture Map in a GIS and aggregated combinations of Map Ecotypes with similar soils to derive and map Soil Landscapes and Soil Great Groups. The classification of Great Groups captures information on the soil as a whole, as opposed to the subgroup classification which focuses on the properties of specific horizons (Soil Survey Staff 1999). Of the 724 plots included in the Ecotype analysis, sufficient soils data for classifying soil subgroups was available for 467 plots. Soils from 8 orders of soil taxonomy were encountered during the field sampling: Alfisols (<1% of the mapped area), Andisols (3%), Entisols (45%), Gelisols (<1%), Histosols (12%), Inceptisols (22%), Mollisols (<1%), and Spodosols (16%). Within these 8 Soil Orders, field plots corresponded to a total of 74 Soil Subgroups, the most common of which were Typic Cryaquents, Typic Cryorthents, Histic Cryaquepts, Vitrandic Cryorthents, and Typic Cryofluvents.
