Abstract:
True design with grammars lies in the creation of the grammar rules, not in the application of the rules to generate design alternatives. Existing grammars can be modified to describe new languages of designs [1–4]. Studying an epicyclic gear train graph grammar leads to purposeful relaxation of grammar rules and subsequent discovery of new designs. A revised new EGT grammar is presented, which is designed to generate a wider selection of valid EGTs.

AbstractThe shape grammar formalism has been discussed theoretically extensively. Recently there has been increased activity in implementing shape grammar interpreters, yet there is a lack of implementations that support parametric rules and emergence. Here the structure of a general parametric shape grammar interpreter is discussed in detail. The interpreter is based on graph grammars. It supports emergence, parametric rules, and numerous types of geometric objects. The shape grammar engine, an agent-based rule selection system and several implementations based on the engine are discussed.

Abstract:
Foreign language teaching methodologies have changed noticeably in the last hundred years. The emphasis on grammar has decreased, while the focus on communication has increased. Rather than quantitative in nature, these changes concern themselves more with the qualitative question of how grammar is taught. Two common approaches to grammar teaching are the inductive and deductive approach. While they both fall under the explicit grammar-teaching umbrella, research strongly points toward an advantage of the inductive grammar teaching approach. Therefore, a principal question that this article se

The integration of digital tools into education has fostered innovative methodologies like gamification, which is particularly notable in the field of grammar learning. This literature review assesses the role of gamification—defined as the use of game design elements in educational settings—in enhancing grammar mastery. Traditional grammar teaching often struggles to maintain student engagement and motivation, which are critical for effective learning. This review evaluates the efficacy of gamification in grammar instruction by analyzing empirical studies and scholarly articles from databases

Project based Learning (PjBL), which emphasizes experiential learning, introduces a contrast between the structure of grammar and the open-ended nature of projects. This combination offers teachers with numerous hurdles, changing standard grammar education paradigms. English communication is essential in an increasingly international society. This study investigates the difficulties in incorporating PjBL into English grammar instruction in higher education. It investigates the contradictions between structured grammar and project flexibility, reconciling thorough comprehension with project con

Abstract This article discusses the value of thematic roles for the description of phenomena of grammar. Notions like agent, patient, etc. do not have any explanatory value in the grammar. For instance, there is no relationship between the middle, subject selection in English and the impersonal passive in Dutch and these roles. This makes it impossible for the language learner to distil them from the grammatical system. The notion of Event Structure creates a more explanatory link between the grammar and semantics. This notion explains the functioning of impersonal passive in Dutch. It is noti

Deep learning and neural network have been widely used in the field of speech, vocabulary, text, pictures, and other information processing fields, which has achieved excellent research results. Neural network algorithm and prediction model were used in this paper for the study and exploration of English grammar. Aiming at the application requirements of English grammar accuracy and standardization, we proposed a machine learning model based on LSTM-CRF to detect and analyze English grammar. The method of linguopoetical comparative analysis reveals the grammatical markers of intertextual interactions and allows concluding that the form of the participle-formed nominalized transpositive adjective is the morphological and syntactic dominant of both texts. This contribution asks, in an empirical rather than formal perspective, whether a range of descriptive phenomena in grammar usually characterized in terms of ‘recursion’ actually exhibit recursion. It is concluded that empirical evidence does not support this customary assumption. Language, while formally recursive, need not be recursive in the underlying generative mechanisms of its grammar. Hence, while recursion may well be one of the hallmarks of human nature, grammar may not be the cognitive domain where it is found. Arguments for this claim are briefly exposed and then discussed with res
