abstract: In Trinity College Cambridge MS R.3.20, John Shirley offers a famously enigmatic rubric to his copy of Chaucer's Complaint of Venus . He cites Chaucer as the translator of the piece and notes, correctly, that Oton de Granson composed the English poem's original. He then claims that Chaucer's poem is describing a court scandal: an adulterous affair between John Holland, Earl of Huntington, and Isabel of York, daughter of King Pedro of Castile and sisterin-law to John of Gaunt. Shirley's rubrics thus appear to construct a very loose Anglo-Iberian connection for Chaucer's translation of

How persistent are economic gaps across ethnicities? The convergence of ethnic gaps through the third generation of immigrants is difficult to measure because few datasets include grandparental birthplace. I overcome this limitation with a new three-generational dataset that links immigrant grandfathers in 1880 to their grandsons in 1940. I find that the persistence of ethnic gaps in occupational income is 2.5 times stronger than predicted by a standard grandfather-grandson elasticity. While part of the discrepancy is due to measurement error attenuating the grandfather-grandson elasticity, me

The X-linked grandmother hypothesis posits that differential X-chromosome relatedness between grandmothers and their grandchildren is a leading driver of differential grandchild survival between grandmother lineages and grandchild sexes. The Granton ‘shrimp-bed’ biota is reviewed—the geological and lithological context of the deposit, the distribution and tap

Sampel A. granosa dikelompokkan berdasarkan ukuran main catch dan by-catch sesuai tangkapan nelayan lokal. Ekstraksi mikroplastik pada kerang A. granosa mengguna

ABSTRACTThe Dinantian Lower Oil-Shale Group of the Edinburgh area records the evolution of a SW–NE trending basin within an area of fluvial-dominated deltaic sedimentation, with rare marine incursions from the E. The sequence at Granton records the abandonment of a delta lobe, with deltaic sandstones overlain by lagoonal mud-shales. These thinly-laminated non-bioturbated mud-shales record low-energy, stagnant conditions. Fish, ostracodes and conchostracans inhabited the lagoon at this time.Within the mud-shale sequence is the dolomitic Granton “shrimp-bed” which contains fenestrae, possible gy
