Abstract:
The methods of studying the global properties of dynamic systems based on the construction of a symbolic image of this system are considered. A symbolic image is an oriented graph, which is an approximation to a dynamical system and is constructed by discretizing the phase space. The symbolic dynamics generated by the oriented graph reflects the dynamics of the system under study. The symbolic image is a tool of theoretical research and the basis of computer-oriented methods for the numerical study of nonlocal properties of dynamical systems.

Abstract:
Proprioception is our ability to sense the position of our own limbs and other body parts in space, and body schema is a body representation that allows both biological and artificial agents to execute their actions based on proprioception. The proprioceptive information used by current artificial agents (robots) is mainly related to posture (and its change) and consists of joint angles (joint velocities) given a linked structure. However, the counterpart in biological agents (humans and other animals) includes more complicated components with associated controversies concerning the relationsh

Drawing on a collection of 170 contemporary Dutch-language novels, Character Constellations presents a range of data-driven, statistical models to study depictions of characters in terms of gender, race, ethnicity, class, age, sexuality, and other identity categories. Abstract:
North Korea’s Nuclear Cinemaexamines why and how North Korea has transitioned to an image-based nuclear power in the changing context of a post-Cold War world. What exactly is the North Korean nuclear threat? Why is North Korea engaging in hostilities when its erstwhile adversaries have offered a diplomatic exit ramp? Chapter by chapter, it explains how North Korea’s footage-based nuclear politics is presented as military practice, but ultimately traces its lineage to cinematic propaganda, a tradition that blurs the line between image and reality. Abstract:
This book delves into the representation of the indigenous "Peoples of the North" in Soviet cinema and TV from the 1920s to the 1980s. It traces their evolving depictions, which shifted between portraying them as backward and in harmony with nature, reflecting the Soviet Union's evolving perception of modernity. Caroline Damiens combines a detailed analysis of key works such asTymancha’s Friend(1969),The Most Beautiful Ships(1972),Tracking the Wolverine(1978) andWhen the Whales Leave(1981), with primary sources like press articles, archives, and interviews, to reveal how these cinematic portra
