PG 1707+427 was identified in the Palomar-Green survey (Green Schmidt and Liebert, 1986) as an object with a significant ultraviolet excess. Observations by Bond and Grauer in 1982 showed it to be a pulsating variable (Bond, Grauer, Green and Liebert, 1984). Fourier transforms of the discovery time-series photometric runs revealed power in PG 1707+427’s light curves in two bands with periods near 450-s and 333-s. The longer period peak was observed to have a variable amplitude while the other one appeared relatively constant in strength. Wesemael, Green and Liebert (1985) placed PG 1707+427 in

Abstract:
We have performed nonradial pulsation analyses of the central star of the planetary nebula K1-16. K1-16 is a very unusual nebulae which appears to have ejected material that is very rich in helium. The central star shows no evidence for hydrogen in its spectrum and the helium and carbon lines are in emission. Grauer and Bond (Ap. J., 277, 211, 1984) discovered that it is pulsating with periods around 1700 sec. Although its spectral characteristics are similar to those of the PG1159-035 variables, it is pulsating in much longer periods than they are.

The strongest grazing effect among all marine benthic systems is on intertidal rocky shores. Among intertidal grazers, limpets are well-known structuring agents altering the distribution of rocky shore assemblages. Parvulastra exigua is a small starfish that occurs at great densities in rock pools on intertidal shores. Abstract:
Ethiopia has succeeded in rapidly expanding access to primary education over the past two decades. However, learning outcomes remain low among primary school children and particularly among girls and children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Starting with a systematic review of quantitative studies on the determinants of learning outcomes among primary school children in Ethiopia, this study then examined key determinants of students’ numeracy achievement over the 2018-19 school year. The study focused on Grade 4 children (N=3,353) who are part of an on-going longitudinal study. The two questio

Abstract:
In a recent research paper, we have proposed an extension of the lightweight Description Logic (DL) EL in which concepts can be defined in an approximate way. To this purpose, the notion of a graded membership function m, which instead of a Boolean membership value 0 or 1 yields a membership degree from the interval [0; 1], was introduced. Threshold concepts can then, for example, require that an individual belongs to a concept C with degree at least 0:8. Reasoning in the threshold DL T EL(m) obtained this way of course depends on the employed graded membership function m. The paper defines a

Abstract:
The Ethiopian education system has been very dynamic over recent years, with a series of large-scale education program interventions, such as the Second Phase of General Education Quality Improvement Project (GEQIP-II) that aimed to improve student learning outcomes. Despite the large-scale programs, empirical studies assessing how such interventions have worked and who benefited from the reforms are limited. This study aims to understand the impact of the reform on Grade 4 students’ maths learning outcomes over a school year using two comparable Grade 4 cohort students from 33 common schools

Abstract:
Although low-income parents’ dependence on low-fee private schools has been actively documented in the past decade, existing research and policy discussions have failed to recognise their heavy reliance on low-fee tuition providers in order to ensure that their children complete the primary cycle. By mapping a vibrant supply of low-fee tuition providers in two neighbourhoods in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad in Pakistan, this paper argues for understanding the supply-side dynamics of this segment of the education market with the aim of designing better-informed policies, making be
