In Kenya, land grabbing can be examined by looking at three critical eons through which land governance has evolved. There is the first epoch that was characterised by colonial acquisition of land to establish colonial rule and provide land for incoming settlers among other reasons. Secondly, there is the post-colonial epoch that was characterised by land grabs orchestrated by the new political elites who were keen on retaining power upon independence. Accordingly, the risks of global crisis due to limited access to P reserves are expected to be graver than those entailed by competition for fossil hydrocarbons. Paradoxically, des

The article is devoted to the definition of other grave consequences in the especially qualified composition of abandonment in danger, their study, as well as the justification of the need for their legislative consolidation in the text of Article 135 «Abandonment in danger» of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. An analysis was also carried out of the resolutions of the Plenums of the Supreme Court of Ukraine concerning criminal offenses for other objects of encroachment, containing a list of grave consequences and the reasoning for defining them as grave for these criminal offenses. The paper presents some remarks concerning social stratification of the inhabitants of the forest-steppe areas of the left-bank Dnieperland between the 2nd half of the 6th and 4th/3rd century BC. The main aim of the article was to propose a new interpretation of the status of deceased buried in various grave complexes of this cultural phenomenon. The process of identifying groups occupying different positions in hierarchy was multi-level. One of the first things considered in the analysis was the context of graves of individuals belonging to subsequent clusters. The next stage of the study inv

The negative consequences of sand production from the formation into the wellbore during the operation of wells with unstable rocks are characterized. A highly effective method of preventing sand from entering the well from the formation is the use of gravel packs, which are used in Ukraine and abroad. The types of gravel packs, the conditions for their application, the choice of the diameter of gravel grains for creating gravel pack are given. The types of gravel pack installation are considered depending on the geological and technical conditions of the reservoir. Calculations have been perf

Ocean acidification significantly affects marine organisms in several ways, with complex interactions. Seaweeds might benefit from rising CO2through increased photosynthesis and carbon acquisition, with subsequent higher growth rates. However, changes in seaweed chemistry due to increased CO2may change the nutritional quality of tissue for grazers. In addition, organisms live in close association with a diverse microbiota, which can also be influenced by environmental changes, with feedback effects. As gut microbiomes are often linked to diet, changes in seaweed characteristics and associated

Although people report grave concern over their data privacy, they take little care to protect it. We suggest that this privacy paradox can be understood in part as the consequence of an evolutionary mismatch: Privacy intuitions evolved in an environment that was radically different from the one found online. This evolved privacy psychology leaves people disconnected from the consequence of online privacy threats.

Abstract. Salmonids clean river bed gravels to lay their eggs. However, during the incubation period fine sediment infiltrates the bed. This has been found to limit the success of salmonid spawning, as fine sediment reduces gravel permeability resulting in intra-gravel flow velocities and O2 concentrations decreasing. The success of salmonid spawning is therefore a function of the coincidence of fine sediment delivery and the development of the salmonid eggs. The presence of fine sediment also exerts sub-lethal effects on the rate of egg development with a negative feedback slowing and extendi

Introduction. Graves ophthalmopathy is an autoimmune disease, which is the consequence of thyroid dysfunction. Ocular manifestations occur in 50% of patients with Graves disease. The changes occur due to the inflammatory cell infiltration of retrobulbar fat tissue and extraocular muscles. Ultrasonography of eye orbit provides important information about the condition of retrobulbar adipose tissue and the thickness of extraocular muscles. Objective. The aim of our study was to show the clinical significance of orbital ultrasonography in the diagnostics and follow-up of patients with Graves dise
