This work aims to explain the performance of the Brazilian economy throughout the period of the Great Depression. We propose a general equilibrium, open economy model in which the Brazilian government can improve the terms of trade by taking advantage of Brazil\'s monopolistic position in international coffee markets. It burns a share of coffee production in order to influence international prices, thus containing the impact of the Great Depression on the domestic economy\'s supply of foreign consumption and investment goods. We find that our coffee burning mechanism is capable of improving th

As a result of the economic woes facing Alabama the state government adopted many strategies aimed at improving the situation faced by the state as a whole. Some include changes in the strategies adopted by the two Governors of the 1930s, the effects of the Depression on one of the states key industries, changes to taxation, as well as the repeal of Prohibition and how it was connected to the Depression in Alabama. Additionally, there were many different variables that influenced state behavior, taxation in particular,

By establishing a historical background, combined with the qualitative data, it shows that North Dakota's agricultural economy and progressive legacy played major roles in how the Great Depression affected the state, as well as how North Dakota reacted to the economic crisis. In forming a historically narrative, the paper aims to show the political turbulence the Depression helped cause and the outrages attempts North Dakotan politicians made to aid their citizens. Complied state financial data has not been closely analyzed between the years of 1930-1937. In analyzing specific information about the receipts and disbursements of the state of Georgia as well as neighboring Southern states, more information can be divulged on how they handled the Great Depression. What is important about the topic is the situation that the states were currently facing during this time period, mirrors in some sense what the states are currently facing right in the present. Abstract:
Childhood depression is a very prevalent mental health condition in today's society. Its debate began to become relevant in the 1960s and, although there is no doubt about its existence, the subject is still little discussed. This paper aims to demonstrate the relevance of the subject due to its high prevalence and underdiagnosis. A literature review on Childhood Depression in Brazil was carried out based on research in Pubmed, Scielo, and Google Scholar databases, between 1989 and 2020, in Portuguese and English, using the descriptors: “child depression”, “symptoms of depression” and “treatme

Abstract. Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are novel green solvents with great potential in many industrial applications. Due to their high tunability, DESs can be synthesized and prepared into various concentrations by dilution with water. This work revolutionises the determination of selected DESs’ water activity using inferencing their respective freezing point depression. Using the Hildebrand-Scott equation, the freezing point depression of the respective DESs in various concentrations is then correlated to the water activity. This inferential correlation provides an alternate but convenient
