Abstract:
AbstractBoth literary theory and biblical narrative criticism lack an articulate, comprehensive theory of character. Many Gospel critics perceive character in the Hebrew Bible (where characters can develop) to be radically different from that in ancient Greek literature (where characters are supposedly consistent ethical types). Most people also sharply distinguish between modern fiction and its psychological, individualistic approach to character and ancient characterization where character lacks personality or individuality. In Part I, we examine concepts of character in ancient Hebrew and Greek literature as well as modern fiction, arguing that although there are differences in characterization, these are differences in emphases rather than kind. It is better to speak of degrees of characterization along a continuum. In Part II, we develop a comprehensive theory of character in the Fourth Gospel, consisting of three aspects. First, we study character in text and context, using information in the text and other sources. Second, we analyze and classify the Johannine characters along three dimensions (complexity, development, inner life), and plot the resulting character on a continuum of degree of characterization (from agent to type to personality to individuality). We observe that many Johannine characters are more complex and round than has been believed so far. Third, we analyze and evaluate the characters' responses to Jesus in relation to the Fourth Evangelist's evaluative point of view, purpose and dualistic worldview.

Abstract:
Modern Arabic literature has been influenced by European literature more than the ancient Arabic literature, and it flourished after renewing its intellectual sources, just as the ancient Arabic literature flourished after contacting the literature of other nations, such as the ancient Greek and Latin literatures. In this article we use the comparative descriptive approach in this article, which is always suitable to study such topics. First, we shed light on the literary doctrines and their origins in the West, then we study the classicism and romanticism to know the extent of their influence in the modern Arabic literature, then we study the literary schools that appeared in the modern Arabic literature, and thus the emergence of features of renewal in the modern Arabic literature in the light of impact of those western literary doctrines. It is important for us to look carefully at how the literary doctrines originated among Westerners, to show to what extent the will of the writers and critics worked in the emergence of these doctrines, and to what extent the literature preceded it as a means of expressing psychological status or social conditions that change, so the literature changes and its doctrines change. These doctrines have flourished in Western literature since the European Renaissance at the classical stability, with the prevailing artistic and intellectual foundations in it. Importance of this topic is clear in terms of its profound influence in the modern Arabic literature, as the aspects of renewal cannot be understood accurately without studying it.

Abstract:
Introduction: The current project studies mobbing and its effects upon the health and quality of life of the workforce/employees. This harassment (mobbing) against the target-employee takes place as a method- ic/systematic psychological attack and involves yelling, derogatory comments, distortion of the victims’ words, and threats/accusations for negligence of duty, when previously and deliberately vital information were not providing. Aim: The current study aims to document and inves- tigate mobbing at a public hospital. Additional goals were to assess aspects of mobbing, like its causes, the impact it has on the victims or on the organization, as well as the measures required to be taken for the pre- vention and dealing with the phenomenon. Material and Method: The material of the study, con- cerning the theoretical approach, was both the Greek and international literature and search was performed on Pubmed and Google Scholar data, while the study sample consisted of ‘Agioi Anargyroi’ Oncology Hospi- tal staff from various profession. For the conduct of the research, a version of the French edition of Leymann’s questionnaire on psychological terror in the workplace was used (Leymmann Inventory of Psychological Terror -LIPT), calibrated and translated in Greek; while, varied determiners that contribute to the appearance of mob- bing were studied in particular. Results: The research conducted confirms that mob- bing affects employees in Public Health Care Sector. Out of the 83 members of participating staff, 49 have suffered mobbing (which corresponds to 59,0%). The most frequent/common psychological symptom they have experienced was intense stress (42,9%). The num- ber of incidents of mobbing on various participants dif- fers significantly according to their level of education. Specifically, holders of MSc or PhD title had to deal with significantly more incidents of ethical harassment behaviors. Conclusion: The mobbing phenomenon appears to be an increasing threat to the health of workers in health sector, and both the state and health organizations must adopt and implement effective measures to address this threat.

Abstract:
Sustainable business in the hospitality sector should be designed and restructured to offer services meant to satisfy the customers aware of the ethical behavior toward environment. Green environmental marketing strategies (GES) are based on the desire of the customers to access hospitality services with zero or a less negative impact with the adaptation of greening activities. Therefore, this research aims to explore the direct effects of green environmental strategies on ethical consumption and the indirect influence of green marketing and its mediating effect between green environmental strategies and ethical consumption links. Additionally, this research also reveals that psychological aspects play the moderating role in the relationship between GES and ethical consumption. The data were collected from a sample of 545 respondents with the support of Saudi tourism companies, and a structural equation model was used to process them. The findings confirm the positive relationship between green environmental strategy and ethical consumption. The outcomes also corroborate that green marketing is interplaying between green environmental strategy and ethical consumption. In addition, this study validates that psychological aspects strengthen the link between GES and ethical consumption. This study adds to the knowledge in the literature through emphasizing the crucial role of psychological factors in improving green environmental strategies and developing ethical consumption habits among members to increase ethical consumption among tourism companies. The findings support companies from the hospitality sector implementing green sustainable services, to stimulate ethical consumption and to use their competitive advantage in green marketing strategies.

The aim of this paper is to present the Spanish proverbs related to the topic of greed that can be understood as a continuation of Publilius Syrus’ sentences. For the analysis are taken into account the contributions of two Hellenistic philosophical schools (Stoicism and Epicureanism), which illuminate the scope of the criticism of greed that occurs in these proverbs, both from a psychological as a social point of view. Latin sentences and Spanish proverbs are compared according to their formal or semantic continuity, as well as depending on other aspects (such as the tone or prosodic issues).

Abstract:
Environmentally friendly behavior has become an important part in achieving sustainable city. However, the implementation of environmentally friendly behavior in daily activities tends to get low participation. Therefore, this study aims to find out the factors that influence a person to behave in an environmentally friendly manner, especially from social and psychological aspects. This study using literature review and weighting based pairwise comparison as a method. Our study concluded, there are four groups of factors that influence the community in implementing environmental friendly behaviors, namely: internal factor (environmental knowledge and attitude), external factor (support from the government in providing environmental education, public facilities, and establish environmental policies and regulations), socio-demographic factor, and situational factor (financial aspects and the availability of good facilities/green product). Furthermore, external factors (such as government support in providing environmental education and public facilities) is the factor that most influence environmentally friendly behavior and also as a key factor in achieving a sustainable city.

Abstract:
Background: Neuropathic pain commonly occurs as a consequence of spinal cord injuries, manifesting as persistent and often debilitating pain sensations resulting from damage or dysfunction of the nervous system within the spinal column. This systematic review aimed to analyze existing guidelines on rehabilitation interventions for neuropathic pain and clarify their significance. Methodology: A comprehensive search of literature was performed using the databases Google Scholar, Microsoft Academic, and PubMed. The inclusion criteria encompassed research articles written in Greek, English, and French languages, while articles that were not directly relevant to the subject of investigation were excluded. Results: A systematic review of published guidelines on rehabilitation interventions for neuropathic pain to elucidate their significance. While some interventions, such as TENS therapy, physiotherapy, and psychological interventions, have been proposed, the core approach to managing neuropathic pain lies in the implementation of comprehensive multidisciplinary interventions that address all the various aspects affected by this chronic and highly disabling condition. It is worth noting the limited literature examining the role of rehabilitation specifically in patients with neuropathic pain, with a focus on individual interventions solely targeting the treatment of neuropathic pain. Conclusions: Neuropathic pain has significant effects not only on the injuries of the lumbar spine, but also on subsequent functions. Therefore, the involvement of a specialist focused on managing and restoring functional impairments is necessary. This role can be fulfilled by a physical therapist who specializes in addressing the functional issues associated with the patient’s condition. Physiotherapists should employ a multiprofessional and multidisciplinary approach, collaborating closely with various healthcare professionals involved in the patient’s management to ensure optimal pain management.

Abstract:
This research explores the pivotal role of green infrastructure in fostering urban resilience and sustainability based on a critical analysis of study findings from best practices. The literature review integrates ecological, social, and economic aspects to clarify its importance. Defined as a network of natural and artificial components, Green infrastructure is subject to several interpretations, as this study explores. Green infrastructures are becoming more critical in developing smart cities in our modern era. Through psychological relaxation and stress relief, social cohesion, physical activity support, and a reduction in exposure to air pollution, noise, and extreme heat, urban green space such as parks, playgrounds, and residential greenery can improve mental and physical health and lower morbidity and mortality rates among urban residents. The conceptual framework's development plans focus on community involvement and smooth integration with current urban structures. The conclusion emphasizes how green infrastructure may change cities for the better. It provides a road map for overcoming challenges and embracing a future in which urbanization and nature coexist to create resilient and sustainable urban cities.

Abstract:
The purpose of this concept analysis is to explore childlessness and provide understanding to professionals involved in the field of infertility. Walker and Avant’s method was used to identify descriptions, antecedents, consequences, and empirical referents of the concept. A model with related and contrary cases was developed. The analysis was based on the definition of the term in major dictionaries in the Greek, Lithuanian, Finnish, Maltese, and Turkish languages, while further literature searches utilized the Web of Science, PubMed, PsychInfo, Medline, Google Scholar, and National Thesis Databases. The literature search was limited to papers/books published in the authors’ national languages and English. As a result, childlessness is defined as the absence of children in the life of an individual, and this can be voluntary or involuntary. However, the deeper analysis of the concept may be preceded and amplified through cultural, psychological, biological, philosophical, theological, sociological, anthropological, and linguistic aspects throughout history. These elements presented challenges for childless individuals, ultimately influencing their choices to resort to alternative ways of becoming parents, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), surrogacy, adoption, or other forms of childbearing. Historically, childlessness has been viewed with negative connotations due to its potential impact on the survival of the human species. This negativity can be directed even to individuals who may decide to opt to voluntarily remain childfree. The long-term impact of the experience, both on an individual and collective level, continues to cause pain to those who are involuntarily childless. In conclusion, health professionals and other stakeholders who have a deep understanding of childlessness, including the antecedents and attributes, can minimize the potential negative consequences of those factors contributing to childlessness, whether voluntary or involuntary. In fact, they can capitalize on a powerful impact of change adaptation by providing support to those in their practice to recover the lost homeostasis.

Abstract:
The present study analyzes the effectiveness of consumer price sensitivity in expanding the use of green products. It investigates how the purchase behavior of Iranian consumers is affected by different aspects of perceived risk, such as financial, performance, psychological, and social risks. This study uses the four main concepts of ‘Perceived Risk’ (PR), ‘Attitude towards Green Products’ (AGP), ‘Price Sensitivity’ (PS), and ‘Green Purchase Behavior’(GPB) to develop a model to increase green purchase intention. This research uses an experimental study, using a survey method (questionnaire distribution)to confirm the hypotheses and discover its management concepts, and uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that the variable of “Perceived Risk” has a positive effect on “Attitude towards Green Products” and “Price Sensitivity”. “Attitude towards Green Products” has a positive effect on “green purchasing behavior” while “Price Sensitivity” has a negative effect on “green purchasing behavior”. This study focuses on existing literature by providing experimental evidence showing the importance of green consumption in the Iranian industry. The present model provides valuable input to policymakers and marketers to work from the perspective of policies and green marketing strategies and the research framework of purchasing green products to preserve the environment and the prevalence of green consumption among consumers.

Abstract:
The article dedicated to the works of the Lithuanian literature written in the second half of the 20th century depicting the writer Žemaitė (pen name of Julija Beniuševičiūtė-Žymantienė, 1845–1921). This writer was not rejected by the Soviet authorities because of her realistic outline and her democratic political views, the social criticism expressed in her work towards greed, selfishness and clericalism. Lithuanian writers dedicated to her their poetry, fiction, and drama works. However, Soviet writers were also impressed by Žemaitė’s personality traits, which mentioned less frequently in public: independence, perseverance, wit, the courage to stand out from her surroundings and to disregard the societal norms that stifled older women in traditional society. The article analyses the features of Žemaitė’s personality in works of Lithuanian literature created by poets Salomėja Nėris, Judita Vaičiūnaitė, and others. The author reveals how different aspects of Žemaitė’s work and personality were emphasised depending on the time of writing. This change partly reflects the shift of literature from socialist realism to more modern literature. Among the works of prose, the author singles out Bitė Vilimaitė’s cycle of short stories “Apsakymai apie Žemaitę” (Short Stories about Žemaitė) from her collection Papartynų saulė (Fernery Sun, 2002). The stories reveal both the character of Žemaitė, her environment and people close to her, and the most important features of Vilimaitė’s own work: attention to a woman’s fate, subtle psychological insight, attention to detail, and a specific model of a short novella. Since the protagonists of the cycle are usually real people, Vilimaitė’s talent for using documentary material and combining it with fiction is also evident here. The article concludes that Soviet-era authors portraying Žemaitė’s character raised aspects relevant to the time of writing, such as the promotion of national culture, problems of women’s emancipation and, also the fact that for female writers, Žemaitė was a role model.

Abstract:
AbstractThe stereotypic and oversimplified relationship between female sex hormones and undesirable behavior dates to the earliest days of human society, as already the ancient Greek word for the uterus, “hystera” indicated an aversive connection. Remaining and evolving throughout the centuries, transcending across cultures and various aspects of everyday life, its perception was only recently reframed. Contemporarily, the complex interaction of hormonal phases (i. e., the menstrual cycle), hormonal medication (i. e., oral contraceptives), women’s psychological well-being, and behavior is the subject of multifaceted and more reflected discussions. A driving force of this ongoing paradigm shift was the introduction of this highly interesting and important topic into the realm of scientific research. This refers to neuroscientific research as it enables a multimodal approach combining aspects of physiology, medicine, and psychology. Here a growing body of literature points towards significant alterations of both brain function, such as lateralization of cognitive functions, and structure, such as gray matter concentrations, due to fluctuations and changes in hormonal levels. This especially concerns female sex hormones. However, the more research is conducted within this field, the less reliable these observations and derived insights appear. This may be due to two particular factors: measurement inconsistencies and diverse hormonal phases accompanied by interindividual differences. The first factor refers to the prominent unreliability of one of the primarily utilized neuroscientific research instruments: functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). This unreliability is seemingly present in paradigms and analyses, and their interplay, and is additionally affected by the second factor. In more detail, hormonal phases and levels further influence neuroscientific results obtained through fMRI as outcomes vary drastically across different cycle phases and medication. This resulting vast uncertainty thus tremendously hinders the further advancement of our understanding of how female sex hormones might alter brain structure and function and, ultimately, behavior. This review summarizes parts of the current state of research and outlines the essential requirements to further investigate and understand the female brain’s underlying physiological and anatomical features.

Full text
Abstract:
This article is concerned with the critique of representation in art found in Augustine’s Confessions. The aim of the author is not only to reveal the fundamental influence of Plato and Aristotle on Augustine’s criticism, but to show the unique aspects of Augustine’s thought. The article considers Augustine’s critique of art in the Confessions to be three-fold: the ontological critique, the ethical (psychological) critique of intention and the critique of pagan ethos in art. The article considers the ontological critique as based on the neoplatonic dualism of body and soul as well as the platonic concept of image. Therefore Augustine considers artistic representation to be three-times removed from reality and sees the experience of God as the perfect aesthetical experience. Author states that the ethical critique considers art as a form of idolatry, which projects the innermost desires of the soul (the desire of God) onto the material pleasures of the outer world. Even though Augustine’s thinking is based on the Aristotelian concept of catharsis, the conclusions are entirely different – in Augustine’s opinion the aesthetical experience does not free the audience of its corporal appetites. Quite the contrary, the appetites get more intense. It should also be brought to the attention of the reader, that Augustine holds a certain hostility towards theatre and pagan literature as a pagan social practices. Augustine develops the thought of these Greek philosophers from the Christian point of view and bases his ethical critique of the aesthetic experience along with the critique of aesthetic practices on it. Moreover, he is more open to the concept of art as a fiction than Plato.

Abstract:
Homer used epithets in order to demonstrate more qualitative attributes of the characters of the epic. Epithets provide a rhythmic approach, that works as a beautifier of a literary work while assisting readers to live on the major characters and plots of the piece. The hero of the Iliad, Achilles, is designated as 'swift-footed' and 'like to the gods' to illustrate his role in the Greek army. Homer used epithets for mortals and also for deities like, Athena is called 'the hope of the soldiers' while Thetis is known as the 'silver-footed'. Besides that, the slave girl of Achilles, also got titles, the 'fair-cheeked' and the 'fair-haired', in order to illustrate her beauty that caught the eyes of Achilles, who considers her as his better half. As literature is the reflection of society through the imagination of the laureate (psychology), thus the uniqueness of being a fast runner, and refraining from the war due to his withdrawal from Briseis, represent instances of id, ego, and super-ego (psychological aspects). Such elements are envisaged throughout the literary work. Therefore, the primary motive of the paper is to discuss the use of epithets in the Iliad through the lens of psychology. That is, each character, whether it is mortal or deity or demi-god, whatsoever, the instances of id, ego, and superego have been analyzed. To accomplish the prime objective of the paper, secondary sources like journals, Online articles, and other sources available over the Internet are being used. Besides that, as a primary source, the understandings of the authors are used.

Abstract:
Purpose The discount image associated with odd-ending prices has led to its extensive use by retailers. The purpose of this study is to assess the impacts and applications of nine-ending vs round-ending prices on the purchase of green and non-green products at different price levels and under different purchase motivations. Design/methodology/approach Three experiments are conducted. The first experiment is a 2 (price ending: nine-ending vs round-ending) × 2 (product appeal: green vs non-green) between-subjects study; the second experiment is a 2 (price ending: nine-ending vs round-ending) × 2 (price level: low price vs high price) × 2 (product appeal: green vs non-green) between-subjects study; and the third experiment examined buyers’ preferences of price endings regarding the purchase of green products having either utility (utilitarian) or pleasure (hedonic) motivation. Findings This research highlights that consumers prefer zero-ending prices for green products and pleasure motivation products, but they prefer odd endings for low-priced and utilitarian products. These results support the increased reception of round-ending prices. Accordingly, this study contributes to the literature by providing a boundary condition for odd-ending prices. Specifically, the study finds that the effect of nine-ending prices becomes weaker as the price of the product increases. Practical implications The findings of this study have practical implications for managers, as the results indicate that pricing green products and high-quality perception products using round digits and pricing low-priced and utility perception products using odd digits will increase consumers’ purchase intentions. Moreover, pricing the products using round-ending prices will reduce the perception of low quality and deter brand loyalty emanating from a low-priced/discount image of a product. Originality/value This research contributes to theoretical and practical aspects of behavioural pricing literature. This research uncovers the buyers’ distinct preferences for zero-ending prices and odd-ending prices when purchasing different products based on different motivations and varied price levels. This is the first research of its kind to explore and compare the impact of psychological pricing on green products. The study also resolves a contradiction in past literature regarding the use of nine-ending prices by providing boundary conditions.

Abstract:
Introduction. In recent years, research about consumer behavior has not lost its relevance in the face of increased competition and global economic change. In the marketing field specialists are also constantly looking for new solutions that scientists are researching in consumer behavior and vice versa. Modern research on consumer behavior in the market has been conducted mainly by scientists in the USA, Germany and the United Kingdom. It should be noted that a large part of the research is based on the study of psychological and social aspects of consumer behavior, but less on the modeling and prediction of consumer behavior. Purpose and methods. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of marketing on consumer behavior, including special attention to different age groups if they have been studied over the last five years and to answer the question – what is the role of marketing in customer behavior? To address the research question, the author conducted a systematic review of the literature following the rules proposed by David Denyer and David Tranfield. The process of the systematic literature review followed in this study aims to identify the relevant literature related to consumer behavior in relation to marketing and select and synthesize the themes with respect to the research question in a transparent, complete and rigorous manner. Results. Over the last five years, from 2018 to the beginning of 2022, research on consumer behavior in relation to different marketing directions has been studied extensively and in different countries. Abstract:
The global pandemic of COVID-19, which enforced strict isolation, demonstrated the responsibility of architects and planners for public health promotion. While the concept of therapeutic landscapes is rather new, the quest for designing health-promoting human environment is at least as old as urban planning. The garden suburbs of Ebenezer Howard and Patrick Geddes were planned to promote health and well-being. The ultimate goal of Le Corbusier was to provide daylight and fresh air to each apartment. However, towers in open green space, which were built according to his visions, turned into unfriendly large suburbs. Today, the definition of therapeutic landscapes encompasses not only physical aspects of environment but also social and psychological factors. This study focuses on attempts to create health-promoting places. The interesting question is what are the architectural features linked to health promotion? Although the individual perception of health-promoting places is subjective and may vary, there are some objective qualities of eco-neighbourhoods that are conducive to human health and longevity. This study combines literature review with field observation and resultes in the development of the conceptual framework which can be consolidated into the universal standards for health-promoting places.

Abstract:
Statement of the problem. The article is devoted to consideration of a problem of orphanhood in the modern Russian literature on the basis of L.E. Ulitskaya’s novels ‟Sincerely Yours, Shurik” and ‟The Big Green Tent”. The relevance of the study is determined by the increased interest to the work of the writer. The aim of the study is to reveal ethical and spiritual aspects of the problem of orphanhood in the literature of new sentimentalism through the prism of Ulitskaya’s works. An attempt is made to identify ways of realizing the image of an orphan, to denote a fair allocation of it in a special type of hero. Achieving the goal helps to identify intertextual connections and meanings that constitute the ideological and artistic basis of the works. The methodology of the study was comparative, structural-typological and hermeneutical approaches, as well as the method of literary analysis of the novels under study. Research results. The study of the central images in the selected novels allows the author of the article to reconstruct a certain philosophical picture of the world, which served as the basis for the creation of the type of an orphan hero. The article notes that the main character must face difficulties, the result of overcoming which will be either the achievement of psychological maturation of the orphan or the impossibility of his existence. In general, there is a profound connection between the theme of orphanhood in the works of L. Ulitskaya and large-scale social breakdowns at turn of 21st century.

Abstract:
Let us begin, as is proper, with the gods rich in praise – or, more precisely, with The Gods Rich in Praise, one of three strikingly good monographs based on doctoral theses that will appear in this set of reviews. Christopher Metcalf examines the relations between early Greek poetry and the ancient Near East, focusing primarily on hymnic poetry. This type of poetry has multiple advantages: there is ample primary material, it displays formal conservatism, and there are demonstrable lines of translation and adaptation linking Sumerian, Akkadian, and Hittite texts. The Near Eastern material is presented in the first three chapters; four chapters examine early Greek poetry. Two formal aspects are selected for analysis (hymnic openings and negative predication), and two particular passages: the birth of Aphrodite in Theogony 195–206, and the mention of a dream interpreter in Iliad 1.62–4. In this last case, Metcalf acknowledges the possibility of transmission, while emphasizing the process of ‘continuous adaptation and reinterpretation’ (225) that lie behind the Homeric re-contextualization. In general, though, his detailed analyses tend to undermine the ‘argument by accumulation’ by which West and others have tried to demonstrate profound and extensive Eastern influence on early Greek poetry. Metcalf finds no evidence for formal influence: ‘in the case of hymns, Near Eastern influence on early Greek poetry was punctual (i.e. restricted to particular points) at the most, but certainly not pervasive’ (3). His carefully argued case deserves serious attention.

Abstract:
Mary Bachvarova's large, complex and ambitious From Hittite to Homer argues for long-distance interactions linking the Near East to Anatolia to Greece, and constructs a model of ‘why, how, and when’ (198) those interactions operated. The general thesis is not seriously in doubt, and much of the model's detail seems plausible; but since that is beyond my competence to judge, I will stick to my remit as Greek literature reviewer and focus on what the model, if right in detail, might tell us about Greek narrative poetry. How useful is Bachvarova's speculative literary prehistory, and what is it useful for? Can it illuminate the texts we have? Referential ambiguities expose one problem. The claim that ‘the overarching plot and theme of the Odyssey speak to the values of the warrior-traders that motivated the spread of Near Eastern epic motifs’ (296) is startling: Odysseus never engages in trade; indeed, to call him a trader is a calculated insult (Od. 8.159–64). It emerges a few pages later that the reference is not to the Odyssey, but to a hypothetical original: ‘The Odyssey may have originally addressed the values of heroic trade…but as the values of the Greek aristocratic class changed and trade was viewed more negatively, the role of the hero would have lost its trader aspects’ (298). I'm not sure whether this explanation also applies to (e.g.) ‘Agamemnon rejects the interpretation of his seer, refusing to release Chryseis’ (193) or ‘it has become clear to Achilles that the gods’ intervention, the advice to avoid battle…has been at the cost of his own life’ (194). Contrast the extant Iliad, in which Agamemnon agrees to release Chryseis (1.116–17) and Achilles withdraws on his own initiative (1.169–71). These may just be inaccurate recollections of ‘the supremely sophisticated and complex works that are known to us’ (396). But to the extent that Bachvarova's interpretation of extant texts is skewed by her speculative literary prehistory, or her reconstruction of lost texts is shaped by it, the parallels are not evidence for the hypothesis but artefacts of it. Parallels per se are not, in any case, sufficient evidence of influence: Mesoamerican pyramids were not derived from Egypt. Yet Bachvarova's opening sentences jump directly from parallels to the how and why of influence (1). Is ‘negative reaction to speech’ (44) so distinctive a cultural phenomenon as to make its appearance in different narrative traditions evidence of influence? If parallels between hospitality narratives (142–5) reflect cognate hospitality cultures, why should we appeal to transmission by song to explain them? The similarities between Naram-Sin and Hector (191–5) could originate independently in any two cultures which regarded divination as a source of good advice if (as is likely) they had noticed that leaders sometimes fail to accept good advice. This is a stimulating book; but Bachvarova's approach to diagnosing influence lacks the methodological rigour of Christopher Metcalf's The Gods Rich in Praise (G&R 63 [2016], 251).

Abstract:
Materialistic orientation has long been related to various aspects of personality development and subjective wellbeing. Literature and research overview provides evidence that a higher level of materialistic orientation is related to increased external motivation (lack of internalisation of goals), extrinsic aspirations (such as possessions, power and image), overall lower levels of subjective wellbeing and physical health. Materialistic orientation also prevents the future exposure to different situations where a person could fulfil basic psychological needs as defined by Ryan and Deci – autonomy, capability and connectedness. People with higher materialistic orientation are easier influenced by advertisement and media, which in itself leads to strengthening of their materialistic orientation. Research in different countries conducted by T. Kasser and Sheldon and colleagues indicates that the materialistic orientation’s influence is not limited only to people in developed countries and it could be far worse in developing and underdeveloped countries as the capitalistic models spread throughout the world through the processes of globalization. The current article presents the data from an experiment conducted in Bulgaria applying the protocols from Tim Kasser and Ken Sheldon’s experiments in 2001 in the USA. The levels of insecurity of the participants in the experiment group are manipulated by asking them to think and write about their own death. Then all participants are asked to solve a social case by choosing between their own financial benefits and security (greed and fear) or do what is best for the group and others including the environmental sustainability (social interest). The results from the experiment concur with all previous data collected in the USA.

Abstract:
Pashto landay is a great and delicious asset of folk literature that has not only gained fame and importance in the Pashtoon community, but is now emerging day by day as a good and beautiful poem in the field of international literature. Pashto landay of Pashto oral literature is a short and meaningful poem that is free from rhyme, but in terms of weight it is equal to the fifth long syllable of free poetry. The stress comes on the fourth syllable of each column. The first hemistich is nine syllables and the second one is thirteen syllables and ends with an independent sound. In this brief article it hasn’t discussed on the framework of landay, but the content of landay which are the voice of the heart of the Pashtoon people are analyzed from the perspective of psychology. Pashtoons who have suffered many hardships throughout their lives have been deprived of the lawful pleasures of life due to the influence of their imposed culture and all their deprivations have been pushed from the conscious to the unconscious. As a result, they have told their deprivation in landay as a poem and made themselves happy and encouraged. These problems and deprivations are different and discussing them all is beyond the scope of an article. In order to attract the attention of researchers to this topic in the future, some obvious aspects related to human psychology have been discussed. MOTIVE OF ESSAY WRITING The poem is discussed from two aspects one is the form and the other is the content. In Pashto literature there have been many discussions about poetry framework in general, but its content has not been discussed as much as it should be. In today's modern literature the psychological aspect is relatively new and important, so this aspect is stronger than others in Pashto literature, because the Pashtoon are more oppressed than any other people, so this was the reason why I wrote this article. It has come so that readers of other languages will be informed about the deprivations of Pashtoons' lives by reading this article.

Abstract:
Abstract Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) constitute a group of clinical problems involving the masticatory muscles, the temporomandibular joint and associated structures. An etiological connection of TMD with psychological factors was proposed as early as the 1980’s. Indeed, the interdependence of psychological and health aspects in the patient’s treatment, place light upon the more important variables contributing to the various mental disorders that may accompany TMD. Current literature suggests a close relationship between TMD and selected psychological factors, such as personality traits, stress, depression, anxiety, and catastrophizing. Of note, anxiety-depressive disorders, somatisation and catastrophizing contribute to chronic TMD, mainly in the form of myofascial pain. Hence, knowledge of the influence of psychological factors affecting TMD, enables the identification of patients with an increased risk of chronic painful TMD.

Abstract:
That the palliatae of Plautus and Terence, besides purporting to depict Greek life, were in general adaptations of Greek plays has always been known. Statements in the prologues of the Latin plays and by other ancient authors left no room for doubt about this, while allowing the possibility of some exceptions. The question of the relationship of the Latin plays to their Greek models was first seriously addressed in the nineteenth century, mainly by German scholars, under the stimulus of Romantic criticism which attached paramount importance to originality in art. Since then the question has been constantly debated, often with acrimony, and to this day very different answers to it continue to be given. Yet the question is obviously important, both for those who would measure the artistic achievement of the Latin dramatists and for those who would use the plays to document aspects of Greek or Roman life. It is not disputed that Plautus' plays contain many Roman allusions and Latin puns which cannot have been derived from any Greek model and must be attributed to the Roman adapter. What is disputed is whether this overt Romanization is merely a superficial veneer overlaid on fundamentally Greek structures or whether Plautus made more radical changes to the structure as well as the spirit of his models.

Abstract:
Background:Patients with inflammatory arthritis (IA) like (ankylosing spondylitis (AS), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) are more prone to physical inactivity but derive specific benefits from regular physical activity (PA) (1). Barriers and facilitators to PA are key elements that have not yet been well described. Objectives:To assess if barriers and facilitators for PA in patients with IA are mostly related to disease, psychological, social or environmental factors. Methods:A list of the most important barriers and facilitators was derived from a systematic review of barriers and facilitators to PA in rheumatoid arthritis (2). This list was assessed for face validity by 11 experts from Rheumatology or physiotherapy then tested by 10 patients through structured interview. The list of barriers and facilitators was completed in a binary way: “barriers or facilitators are relevant to me” yes or no, for 66 patients in a monocentric, cross-sectional study. Then, patients assessed the level of each barrier or facilitator on a 0-10 scale. Statistics were descriptive. There was no imputation of missing data. Results:The study included 66 patients (27 axial spondyloarthritis, 26 rheumatoid arthritis, 13 psoriatic arthritis), mean age 52.0 (standard deviation (SD) 16.6) years, mean disease duration 14.3 (SD 11.7) years, 53% women. Disease activity was moderate (mean DAS28 2.1 (SD 1.1), mean BASDAI 2.8 (SD 1.4)), and 75.4% received a biologic. The main factors described by patients were related to the knowledge of the benefits of PA and symptoms (table 1). Psychological factors were more reported and social factors less reported as influential for PA.Table 1.Barriers and facilitators for physical activity reported by patients with inflammatory arthritis.Barriers or facilitatorsCategoriesModifiableN (%) reporting this barrier or facilitatorLevel of patients reporting this item (0-10) (mean (SD))Knowledge of benefits of physical activity for healthPsychYes49 (78)6.6Knowledge of benefits of physical activity for moodPsychYes47 (75)6.8 (3.4)Level of symptoms (pain, fatigue, lack of mobility)PhyYes44 (69)5.7 (2.8)External reminders (eg: from health professionals, calendars…)SocYes36 (57)6.2 (3.1)Presence or absence of activity facilities (ex: green area for walking, gym …)EvmtNo34 (56)6.3 (3.7)Lack of motivationPsychYes34 (55)5.7 (3.2)Weather conditionsEvmtNo33 (52)5.7 (3.2)Confidence on how to exercise safelyPsychYes31 (49)6.0 (2.6)Contact and proximity with others during physical activitySocNo29 (47)6.1 (3.7)Presence or absence of support from others (friends, family)SocNo26(42)6.5 (3.9)Lack of timeEvmtNo35 (40)5.4 (3.4)Presence or absence of support and/or advice from healthcare professionalsSocYes25 (40)6.0 (3.7)A belief that physical activity will make symptoms worsePsychYes17 (27)4.8 (3.3)Lack of knowledge on which exercises to do and how muchPsychYes17 (27)4.7 (3.0)Psych = psychological, Evmt = environmental, Phy = physical, Soc = socialConclusion:The main factors that influence PA in patients with IA were mostly related to psychological aspects, and could be modifiable. Abstract:
Daphne du Maurier’s 1938 novel Rebecca provides rich opportunities for the study of imaginary narrative spaces and the language associated with such spaces. The present study explores the linguistics of the imaginary narrative spaces in Rebecca, drawing upon three lines of linguistic research consistent with a Cognitive Linguistic approach: (i) an interest in understanding and appreciating ordinary readers’ actual responses (rather than merely relying upon “expert” readers’ responses), (ii) the construction of worlds or “spaces”, and (iii) the application of ideas from Cognitive Grammar. The study reveals a surprisingly intricate interplay of linguistic devices used in the construction of imaginary narrative spaces and the maintenance of such spaces in extended discourse. Abstract:
This symposium will review the latest data on the influence of environmental design and its attributes on the cognitive and psychological wellbeing of older adults living with dementia. The presenters will cover the myriad ways in which the physical environment of care can adapt to the changing demands of older adults with sensory, motor and cognitive deficits and foster optimal functioning and quality of life. The role of emerging technologies will also be reviewed as they complement the contribution of the design of the physical environment to the wellbeing of older adults with cognitive impairment. Information will be offered through a review of the existing research literature as well as case studies that illustrate the impact of environmental modification on fostering wellbeing and minimizing the emergence of the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia. The presenters will represent and integrate sensibilities that have emerged from the fields of architecture, cognitive neuroscience and psychology. How the Principles of the Culture Change Movement Inform Environmental Design and the Application of Technology in the Care of Older Adults Living with DementiaWilliam E. ReichmanThe culture change movement informs a number of principles that have been applied to more contemporary design concepts for the congregate care of older adults living with dementia. This talk will review the core tenets of the Culture Change Movement as exemplified by the Greenhouse, Dementia Village and other innovative models of congregate long-term care. Specific reference will be made to how these tenets have been operationalized around the world into the design of programming and the creation of residential care environments that foster a better quality of life for older adults and an enhanced work environment for care providers. This talk will also include the emerging role of technologies that complement innovative design of the environment and which foster optimized social and recreational functioning of older adults living with dementia.A Better Life Through a Better Nursing Home DesignL. Bradford PerkinsOver the last 20 years there has been extensive experimentation related to the role of the environment in the housing, care and treatment of persons with Alzheimer’s and other age related dementias. Prior to that time the typical housing and care environment was a locked unit in a skilled nursing or other restrictive senior living facility. In 1991 the Presbyterian Association on Aging in Western Pennsylvania opened Woodside Place on its Oakmont campus. This small 36 bed facility was designed to incorporate the latest research and care experience with persons suffering from these issues. This one small project, as well as the long post occupancy research led by Carnegie Mellon University, clearly demonstrated that individuals with Alzheimer’s and related forms of dementia could lead a healthier, happier, higher quality of life in a more residential, less restrictive environment. Not everything in this pioneering project worked, and five generations of living and care models have followed that have refined the ideas first demonstrated by Woodside Place. Bradford Perkins, whose firm designed Woodside Place and over 100 other related projects, will discuss what was learned from Woodside Place as well as the five generations of projects (and post occupancy research) that followed.Innovative dementia care environments as alternatives for traditional nursing homes: evidence and experiences from the NetherlandsHilde VerbeekKey goals of the dementia care environment focus on increasing autonomy, supporting independence and trying to enable one’s own lifestyle for as long as possible. To meet these goals, innovative, small-scale and homelike care environments have been developed that have radically changed the physical, social and organizational aspects of long-term care in the Netherlands. This presentation discusses various Dutch models that have implemented small-scale and homelike care environments, including green care farms, dementia village and citizen initiatives. The models reflect a common care concept, focusing on residents’ remaining strengths, providing opportunity for choice and aiming to sustain a sense of self and control. A small number of residents (usually 6 to 8) live together in a homelike environment and nursing staff are part of the household. Residents are encouraged to participate in daily household activities, emphasizing normalization of daily life with person-centred care. The physical environment resembles an archetypal home. This talk presents the scientific evidence on the impact and effects of these small-scale, homelike models on residents, their family caregivers and staff. Furthermore, the presentation will highlight working approaches and how these initiatives have positively influenced routine care across the long-term care spectrum.

Abstract:
In our article, we paid attention to the history of the concept of archetype, studied and analyzed the concepts of archetypal plot, motive, and stopped at its place in literature, mythology, psychology, and culture. We paid special attention to the work of the Swiss scientist-psychologist C. G. Jung, who introduced the term archetype into science and studied it in psychological, philosophical, and cultural aspects. Having identified the first archetypal images shown by Jung, we made an analysis, giving importance to the role of the concept of" collective unconscious " in the archetype. In addition, we determined the scientific significance of philological research. The concepts of archetypal plot and archetypal motif introduced by the Russian scientist Meletensky were defined, and examples of archetypal motifs and plots in mythology were given. We have analyzed the concepts of myth and archetype, citing the scientific justifications in the literature. The development of the mythical motif in the works of modern Kazakh writers requires a detailed study of the concept of archetype. At all times, literature cannot separate itself from its original source –myth. Since the Archetype is closely related to mythology, we believe that the importance of this topic is very high today

This paper reviews the relevant psychological, criminological, and psychiatric literature on shoplifting, with particular emphasis on implications for clinical issues and involvement. The paper provides a conceptual framework for working with shoplifters and highlights the need for careful assessment before treatment is embarked upon. It is emphasized that shoplifting is not a unitary category either in terms of motives or clinical problems and no one model can adequately explain the phenomenon.

AbstractI argue that Eudaimonism was not Ancient Greek common sense. After dividing Eudaimonism into Psychological and Normative varieties, I present evidence from Greek literature that the Ancient Greeks did not commonsensically accept Eudaimonism. I then review, and critique, evidence that has been offered for the opposite claim that Eudaimonism was Ancient Greek common sense. This claim is often called on to explain why Ancient Greek philosophers embraced Eudaimonism; the idea is that they did so because it was the ethical common sense of their day. But, according to the case I make in this paper, this explanation cannot stand. Those looking to explain the Eudaimonistic character of Ancient Greek ethical thought must turn to other explanations.

Abstract:
The literature on psychological aspects of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is reviewed. Psychiatric and/or psychometric assessment of IBS samples has consistently revealed a high prevalence of psychological symptoms by comparison with non-psychiatric patient and healthy control groups. Various psychological factors have been implicated in the aetiology of IBS and in the decision to seek medical help, including psychoneurotic personality traits, abnormal illness behaviour and life event stress. Controlled studies of psychological intervention for IBS, while scarce, suggest that supportive psychotherapy and hypnotherapy may be helpful. The long-term efficacy of such treatments remains to be demonstrated.

Abstract:
All drama, indeed all literature, shows people acting on the basis of beliefs and values. We take those values for granted when we watch a play, and observe how the characters negotiate their way within the world as it appears to them. I wish to call attention to some underlying moral and psychological assumptions to which we implicitly assent as a condition for appreciating the story in a couple of Greek tragedies. For sometimes those assumptions are just what the play is really getting across.

Abstract:
Jelen tanulmány a meddőség pszichés vonatkozásairól szóló jelentősebb kutatások eredményeit foglalja össze. Összességében a tanulmány a meddőség cirkuláris oksági, rendszerszemléletű megközelítése mellett érvel.
