Abstract:
According to the report of international analytical organization World Steel Association (WSA), Ukraine took the 10th place in the world’s steel production in 2012. Traditional steel smelting technology such as usage of Marten’s furnaces with natural gas as fuel causes 3 million tons of waste products a year per one furnace. Pollutants include NOx, CO, SOx and heavy metals dust. When you are citing the document, use the following link http://essuir.sumdu.edu.ua/handle/123456789/31624

"We focus attention on single-punch compaction of metal powders in cylindrical dies. In one case, we consider solid cylindrical compacts, and take the die walls to be frictionless in order to isolate the effects of initial nonuniformities in powder fill on the final green density distribution of the compact. First, a model is introduced in which the die is filled with n distinct powders that occupy concentric annular regions within the die. The model requires that the balance of mass, the balance of momentum, and a realistic equation of state be satisfied in each region, and includes a plau

"Despite its maturity, the powder metallurgy (PM) fabrication process continues to rely heavily on indirect methods to determine and predict the quality of its compacts early in the manufacturing line. Currently, the most comprehensive testing is performed on sintered parts, resulting in higher cost and increased waste. This dissertation addresses the need of early inspection by developing a novel approach whereby PM compacts are tested in the green-state without intrusion and with minimal cost per compact tested. The method is based on an infrared detection scheme with two fundamental embodim

The goal of this research is to show the feasibility of detecting density variations in green-state powder metallurgy (P/M) compacts from surface voltage measurements. By monitoring a steady electric current flow through the sample and recording the voltages over the surface, valu-able information is gathered leading to the prediction of the structural health of the compacts. Unlike prior research that concentrated on the detection of surface-breaking and subsurface de-fects, the results presented in this thesis target the density prediction throughout the volume of the sample. This master’s thesis deals with production of ferrite cores by the powder metallurgy technology in EPCOS s.r.o. Šumperk. Special importance is given to powder compaction process through uniaxial cold pressing in a rigid die. The production company is introduced in the first part and is followed by a study of pressure propagation in a powder bed during uniaxial pressing, then the analysis of critical phases of compaction process in terms of green cracks and compact’s defects follows. Main test methods of compact’s green strength are also presented. Significant part of the master’s thesis deals

Listening to Birth asserts that structures of power reproduce themselves by instituting particular modes of listening and sound production. Situating my research within feminist sound studies, I argue that meanings conjured around the audible, material bodies of women were carefully crafted by elites in antiquity, in order to construct gendered ideologies of kingship, civilisation, and nature. I examine these power dynamics as expressed in mythic and magical texts and iconographies, dating from the Bronze Age to later Roman antiquity. Archaeological excavation of the Early Iron Age settlement at Zagora, Andros (Greece), from 1967 to 1974, yielded evidence of metalworking in various locations across the site, however no further analysis was carried out on the material. It is nevertheless clear from this data, as well as the results of archaeological surface survey conducted at the site in 2012, that metal production was an extensive industry at the site. Archaeometallurgical analysis has the potential to provide crucial information regarding metalworking at Zagora and can in turn, contribute to the broader understanding of t

The present study describes the development of an FE model of tooling during production of a transmission gear. Results of the simulation at the puck/die interface during ejection examine the behavior of friction. Machine component deflections under pressure and areas of wear/binding are also predicted. The tooling was developed and modeled in Abaqus, an FE pre- and post-processor. A metal PM (Powder Metallurgy) puck is simulated from the point at the end of compaction, and then at several positions during ejection. A test setup was designed and built. The apparatus will be used to create iron

Abstract:
A novel method of producing die compacted powder metallurgy components with fully en-closed internal structures was developed. The physical characteristics of the compacts were evaluated by measuring bulk density, internal density gradients and compressive green strength. Additionally, a finite element simulation was developed to evaluate the compaction process of the internal structure compact. The internal structure compact displayed the anticipated lower bulk densities due to the less dense internal structure than a conventional powder metallurgy compact, however; higher local densities wer
