Abstract:
The article presents the results of experimental studies of the effect of forest fires on the structure of the annual layer and its parts of pine wood. The harmful effect of forest fires is expressed, first of all, in the direct destruction and damage of wood by fire. Wood raw materials harvested from various growing conditions differ in a number of qualitative indicators. In the practical use of wood damaged by fire, the characteristics of the macrostructure are used for a preliminary assessment of its quality, calculated for the most part according to the parameters of the annual layer. Nondestructive evaluation of ceramic turbine components has to give special consideration to geometrical as well as to material requirements of these parts. Test procedures have to be able to detect all essential defects. As present X-ray penetration, especially the microfocus technique, is the most promising examination routine for special ceramics of complex shape. Actual developments discussed, include the use of image intersifiers for real time monitoring and utilization of digital image processing to increase defect detectability, to decrease costs and to fabricate ceramic turbine parts o

3D Metal Binder Jetting is currently disrupting manufacturing and accelerating mass production of 3D-printed parts. Its excellent balance between part quality and productivity rates is founded on powerful R&D investigations and metrics development to support applications for industrial cases. In this study, the technical physics description of the binder jet fundamentals and its role on parts consolidation will be explained. In particular, the focus will be on describing novel metrics of green parts microstructure obtained by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray computed tomography

It has been revealed that changes of PAs borders are limited (0,5% of total area) in general and are related mostly to some land-users elimination, whose activities are not connected to nature conservation, and compensation based on other green areas including quite remote. The most important transformations topic is mitigation of restrictions, especially in PAs central parts and near-water areas, such as negative chan

Asia has experienced widespread transformation and growth, accompanied by increased demographic pressure, greater intensification of agricultural production, industrialization, and urbanization. This economic growth has been very resource- and carbon-intensive, while climate change has triggered or exacerbated behaviors and defense mechanisms that have come at the expense of the natural environment. Therefore, we examine and compare three Asian Development Bank (ADB) projects in two member countries of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation: one in the People’s Republic of China (PRC)

Invasive exotic plant (IEP) species are a significant threat to natural ecosystem integrity and biodiversity, and controlling them is a high priority for the National Park Service. The Northern Colorado Plateau Network (NCPN) selected the early detection of IEPs as one of 11 monitoring protocols to be implemented as part of its long-term monitoring program. We also calculated a patch management index (PMI) to quantify the extent and density of invasive patches into a single value that helps identify the scale of the problem.
