Software and hardware methods have been developed to correct images for spatial and intensity distortions produced by optical and electro-optical components in X-ray area detectors. Spatial distortions are divided into two types: gross distortions produced by the inherent properties of the detector components and local distortions formed by irregularities in the components. Intensity distortions are separated into three types: those caused by background nonuniformity; those resulting from pixel-dependent nonuniform intensity response; and those resulting from time-dependent variations in backg

It is well established that misallocation of factor resources lowers productivity. In this paper, I use data from both formal and informal firms to study distortions in input and output markets as sources of misallocation in the Indian manufacturing sector. I consider output, capital, raw material, energy, and service sector distortions in a monopolistically competitive framework to measure the aggregate dispersion in total factor revenue productivity (TFPR). Abstract:
The results of 190 model tests and failures of five torispherical heads in service are analyzed in this paper. Seventy-two of the heads failed by buckling of the knuckle and 17 of the heads were pressurized until the heads failed by bursting or by rupture of the crown. The test pressures were compared with the design pressures obtained from ASME Section VIII, Divs. 1 and 2 rules which are limited to heads with L/t⩽500, ASME Code Cases 2260 and 2261 rules which are limited to heads with L/t⩽500, the French Code CODAP rules which apply to heads with D/t ratios up to 1000, and the ECCS rules whic

Aim: Satellite accounts provide an integrated economic framework that complements the System of National Accounts (SNA) by capturing economic activities not fully represented in core statistics. This study presents the Household Production Satellite Account (HPSA) as an example of best practices in extending official statistics. The primary goal is to estimate the monetary value of domestic work and household production (market and non-market) in Poland, contributing to an extended GDP model. Methodology: Following the ESA 2010 methodology, this study applies the input and replacement cost met

The dynamics of CIIs activities in Ukraine demonstrates their steady invulnerability to the crises in the global and national economy, maintaining positions (in quantity terms) against the background of reduced number of both professional stock market participants and other institutional investors, and despite the decrease in the financial instruments in circulation, and the gradual formation in public co

Background Biotin interference in streptavidin-based immunoassays causes widespread analytical distortions that may lead to clinical confusion, inappropriate patient management and, ultimately, adverse events. Its prevalence has increased recently due to the increased use of high-dose biotin therapy in specific patient groups (notably multiple sclerosis) and possibly the general community. Methods We have developed a method to deplete biotin from samples using the streptavidin-coated magnetic microparticles that are a component of most susceptible assays. Results We show that high concentratio

The description of the dispersion analysis model for checking the dependences for deviations from linearity is given. It is shown that it is possible to estimate the presence of nonlinearity in the dependences of oil indicators by comparing the value of the mean square of the deviation from linearity with the value of the residual mean square, which are determined within the dispersion decomposition.
