The present study is focused on mining planning with an emphasis on the graph theory model proposed by Lerchs-Grossmann. The original paper published by Lerchs-Grossmann about determination of optimum final pit does not report the computational algorithm to solve the problem. This paper discusses and presents an algorithm based on the maximum flow graph computational work from Ford Fulkerson. The main steps for solving the problem and the results of the two-dimensional models are discussed.

We conduct direct numerical simulations for turbulent Rayleigh–Bénard (RB) convection, driven simultaneously by two scalar components (say, temperature and concentration) with different molecular diffusivities, and measure the respective fluxes and the Reynolds number. To account for the results, we generalize the Grossmann–Lohse theory for traditional RB convection (Grossmann & Lohse, J. Fluid Mech., vol. 407, 2000, pp. 27–56; Phys. Rev. Lett., vol. 86 (15), 2001, pp. 3316–3319; Stevens et al., J. Fluid Mech., vol. 730, 2013, pp. 295–308) to this two-scalar turbulent convection. Our numerical results suggest that the generalized theory can successfully capture the overall trends for the fluxes of two scalars and the Reynolds number without introducing any new free parameters. In fact, for most of the parameter space explored here, the theory can even predict the absolute values of the fluxes and the Reynolds number with good accuracy. The current study extends the generality of the Grossmann–Lohse theory in the area of buoyancy-driven convection flows.

Abstract:

The present research work is aimed at the estimation of quench severity Polyalkylene Glycol (PAG) polymer quenchants having varying concentrations. An Inconel600 probe instrumented with thermocouples was used for this purpose. The thermal history at various locations in the probe was used as an input to the inverse heat conduction model. The inverse analysis yields spatially dependent heat flux transients. The quench severity was assessed using the Grossmann technique. The wetting kinematics of quenching was studied by cooling curve analysis. The severity of quenching as measured by the Grossmann’s technique was found to be higher for polymer quenchants. However, the heat flux transients estimated by the inverse technique and rewetting times measured form the cooling curve analysis suggested comparable and uniform heat transfer with polymer quenchants compared to water quenchants.

Die Bindungstheorie beschäftigt sich mit den Entstehungsbedingungen der Qualität enger emotionaler Beziehungen im Lebenslauf und deren Folgen für psychische Gesundheit oder Fehlanpassung. Sie bietet ein Modell der Entwicklungspsychopathologie, das im Vergleich zu eher variablenorientierten Ansätzen den Entwicklungsprozeß und individuelle Anpassungsmechanismen miteinbezieht. In der Bielefelder und Regensburger Längsschnittstudie von Grossmann und Grossmann wurden sowohl die Bindungsentwicklung im Lebenslauf im engeren Sinne als auch die Konsequenzen der Bindungsorganisation im weiteren Sinne untersucht. Die Ergebnisse hinsichtlich der Gestaltung von Beziehungen, des Umgangs mit Anforderungen und des Selbstkonzeptes von der frühen Kindheit bis zum Jugendalter werden zusammengefaßt. Darauf aufbauend sollte therapeutische oder beraterische Intervention zum Ziel haben, Beziehungsmuster, emotionale Regulierungsmuster und internale Arbeitsmodelle zu nutzen und zu verändern.

A determinação dos limites da cava final de qualquer projeto de mineração é um dos maiores desafios de um projeto de mineração. Tais limites precisam ser definidos já no início dos trabalhos de planejamento de lavra e devem ser reconsiderados, novamente e rotineiramente, durante toda a vida útil da mina. Um dos propósitos do plano de exaustão de minas a céu aberto é determinar a cava final ótima, baseando-se em um modelo econômico sujeito a restrições técnicas e visando à maximização do valor atual líquido do projeto. O primeiro algoritmo específico relacionado ao tema foi publicado por Lerchs e Grossmann (1965). O algoritmo de Lerchs e Grossmann tem sido aceito como padrão de teste em comparação com outros algoritmos equivalentes, que têm sido propostos, porque ele resolve o problema correspondente, segundo a teoria dos grafos, ao corte mínimo e fluxo máximo. Outros algoritmos de otimização de cavas finais de minas a céu aberto também são apresentados nesse trabalho. Além disto, um programa acadêmico para a otimização de cavas foi desenvolvido pelos autores sendo que os fundamentos deste são apresentados no presente artigo.

AbstractThe unifying theory of scaling in thermal convection (Grossmann & Lohse, J. Fluid. Mech., vol. 407, 2000, pp. 27–56; henceforth the GL theory) suggests that there are no pure power laws for the Nusselt and Reynolds numbers as function of the Rayleigh and Prandtl numbers in the experimentally accessible parameter regime. In Grossmann & Lohse (Phys. Rev. Lett., vol. 86, 2001, pp. 3316–3319) the dimensionless parameters of the theory were fitted to 155 experimental data points by Ahlers & Xu (Phys. Rev. Lett., vol. 86, 2001, pp. 3320–3323) in the regime $3\times 1{0}^{7} \leq \mathit{Ra}\leq 3\times 1{0}^{9} $ and $4\leq \mathit{Pr}\leq 34$ and Grossmann & Lohse (Phys. Rev. E, vol. 66, 2002, p. 016305) used the experimental data point from Qiu & Tong (Phys. Rev. E, vol. 64, 2001, p. 036304) and the fact that $\mathit{Nu}(\mathit{Ra}, \mathit{Pr})$ is independent of the parameter $a$, which relates the dimensionless kinetic boundary thickness with the square root of the wind Reynolds number, to fix the Reynolds number dependence. Meanwhile the theory is, on the one hand, well-confirmed through various new experiments and numerical simulations; on the other hand, these new data points provide the basis for an updated fit in a much larger parameter space. Here we pick four well-established (and sufficiently distant) $\mathit{Nu}(\mathit{Ra}, \mathit{Pr})$ data points and show that the resulting $\mathit{Nu}(\mathit{Ra}, \mathit{Pr})$ function is in agreement with almost all established experimental and numerical data up to the ultimate regime of thermal convection, whose onset also follows from the theory. One extra $\mathit{Re}(\mathit{Ra}, \mathit{Pr})$ data point is used to fix $\mathit{Re}(\mathit{Ra}, \mathit{Pr})$. As $\mathit{Re}$ can depend on the definition and the aspect ratio, the transformation properties of the GL equations are discussed in order to show how the GL coefficients can easily be adapted to new Reynolds number data while keeping $\mathit{Nu}(\mathit{Ra}, \mathit{Pr})$ unchanged.

The genus Theloderma (Rhacophoridae: Rhacophorinae) was first described by Tschudi (1838) based on the type species T. leporosa from Sumatra. This genus is diagnosed by having, e.g., numerous calcified warts on the dorsum and Y-shaped terminal phalanges (Liem 1970; Manthey & Grossmann 1997). According to Frost (2011), Rowley et al. (2011) and Orlov et al. (2012) the genus Theloderma currently contains 23 species.

Parameter yang digunakan adalah biaya operasional penambangan dan evaluasi nilai net present value yang dilakukan pada perhitungan aliran kas yang sederhana, dengan batasan profit yang dihasilkan sebelum pajak.

It was deduced along the lines of the multiexit- channel model of fission elaborated by Brosa, Grossmann and Müller. This formula was fitted to the fragment mass-, average total kinetic energy-, and variance distributions of the thermal neutron induced fission of 235U. The obtained parameters are compared with the theoretical predictions. Further improvements of the fragment yield representation are discussed.

AbstractWe present experimental results for the Reynolds number ${\mathit{Re}}_{U} $ based on the horizontal mean-flow velocity $U$ and for ${\mathit{Re}}_{V} $ based on the root-mean-square horizontal fluctuation velocity $V$ for turbulent Rayleigh–Bénard convection in a cylindrical sample of aspect ratio $\Gamma = 10. 9$ over the Prandtl number range $0. 18\leq \mathit{Pr}\leq 0. 88$. The results were derived from space–time cross-correlation functions of shadowgraph images, using the elliptic approximation of He & Zhang (Phys. Rev. E, vol. 73, 2006, 055303). The data cover the Rayleigh number range from $3\times 1{0}^{5} $ to $2\times 1{0}^{7} $. We find that ${\mathit{Re}}_{U} $ is nearly two orders of magnitude smaller than the values given by the Grossmann–Lohse (GL) model (Grossmann & Lohse, Phys. Rev. E, vol. 66, 2002, 016305) for $\Gamma = 1. 00$ and attribute this difference to averaging caused by lateral random diffusion of the large-scale circulation cells in large-$\Gamma $ samples. For the fluctuations we found ${\mathit{Re}}_{V} = {\tilde {R} }_{0} {\mathit{Pr}}^{\alpha } {\mathit{Ra}}^{\eta } $, with ${\tilde {R} }_{0} = 0. 31$, $\alpha = - 0. 53\pm 0. 11$ and $\eta = 0. 45\pm 0. 03$. That result agrees well with the GL model. The close agreement of the coefficient ${\tilde {R} }_{0} $ must be regarded as a coincidence because the GL model was for $\Gamma = 1. 00$ and for a mean-flow velocity $U$.

ResumoO trabalho aborda, comparativamente, as temáticas e poéticas de três escritoras de períodos diferentes: Virginia Woolf, da primeira geração do modernismo na Inglaterra, com publicações entre 1915 e 1941, Clarice Lispector, que publicou sua obra entre 1944 e 1978, e Judith Grossmann, a qual começa a publicar em 1959. A análise de textos diversos das três escritoras demonstra uma divergência temática e estética, de onde se pode inferir que produziram poéticas e escritas divergentes e autônomas. Constata-se, também, que existem traços convergentes quanto ao local de fala das três escritoras, todas conscientes da necessidade da existência de uma escrita feminina, em que a mulher escritora se represente e a leitora se sinta representada.Palavras-chaveEscrita feminina. Celem artykułu jest analiza niektórych kolokacji należących do pola leksykalnego écologie (ekologia) oraz opracowanie profilu utrwalonych wyrażeń, używanych powszechnie we francuskich mediach. Semantyczno-dyskursywny opis wymienionych połączeń (Sablayrolles, 2000, 2011; Sablayrolles, Mejri, 2011; Grossmann, Tutin, 2002; Tutin, 2005) pozwolił stworzyć ich profil leksykalno-dyskursywny (Veniard, 2013). W badaniach ograniczono się do poziomu semantyczno-pragmatycznego (Veniard, 2013: 55). Wiedząc, że profil jest jednym z możliwych aspektów analizy dyskursu, zwłaszcza w lingwistyce francuskiej, oraz jest immamentny dla korpusu języka francuskiego, starano się sprawdzić, czy profile analizowanych kolokacji w mediach francuskich mają odpowiedniki w języku polskim.

The dark matter (DM) parallel session DM2 of the 14th Marcel Grossmann Meeting was enriched by several contributions about the results and the strategies in the study and in the detection of DM particles in the Galactic halo. In the following, an overview of the latest results in this field will be summarized. A particular care will be given to the results obtained by exploiting the model independent DM annual modulation signature for the presence of DM particles in the galactic halo. Results from the other experiments using different procedures, different techniques and different target materials will be shortly addressed as well as implications and experimental perspectives.
