Estimation of the ground motion parameters is extremely important for engineers to make the structures safer and more economical, so it is one of the main issues of Earthquake Engineering. Peak values of the ground motions obtained either from existing records or with the help of attenuation relationships, have been used as a useful parameter to estimate the effect of an earthquake on a specific location. Peak Ground Velocities (PGV) of a ground motion is used extensively in the recent years as a measure of intensity and as the primary source of energy-related analysis of structures. Consequ

Wan, Mohd Jaafar Wan Shafrina Binti. "Individual tree detection and modelling above-ground biomass and forest parameters using discrete return airborne LiDAR data." Thesis, University of Edinburgh, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/1842/31143.

Abstract:
Individual tree detection and modelling forest parameters using Airborne Laser Scanner data (Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is becoming increasingly important for the monitoring and sustainable management of forests. Remote sensing has been a useful tool for individual tree analysis in the past decade, although inadequate spatial resolution from satellites means that only airborne systems have sufficient spatial resolution to conduct individual tree analysis. Moreover, recent advances in airborne LiDAR now provide high horizontal resolution as well as information in the vertical dimension

Abstract:

They have been applied successfully for building model reconstruction, disaster investigation, tunnel and dam monitoring, and architecture maintenance. Because the intensity data is related to the surface type of the scanned object, they can be used for point cloud classification by using lidar equation to correct for distance and angle effect. However, in order to accommodate the hardware design for the ease of data storage, the inte

These data include not only the three-dimensional space information, but also the color information. However, the number of point cloud data is huge and is difficult to be displayed efficiently. It’s necessary to use efficient data processing techniques in order to display these point cloud data in real-time. In this research, we construct the three-dimensional building model using the key points sel
