Coulson, Celia. "The culture developed by midwives working in a midwifery group practice." Thesis, Swansea University, 2007. https://cronfa.swan.ac.uk/Record/cronfa42554.

Full text
Abstract:
The history of midwifery has been a long struggle between a male dominated priesthood, then later a system of organised medicine (also controlled by men) and a women's community apprentice-led network of helping and healing. The advent of the National Health Service (NHS) in 1946 and subsequent reforms of the NHS confirmed medical power and hospital births were advocated as the safe option (Donnison, 1988; Tew, 1990) In 1992, the consumers of the maternity services and the midwives providing the majority of the care formed an alliance and petitioned the government of the day for a review of the service. This led to the publication of the 'Changing Childbirth' report (DoH, 1993) where continuity, choice and control were the fundamental principles. This ethnographic study follows the setting up of pilot teams as a result of 'Changing Childbirth' that then became fully established into the local maternity service. The focus is on one of the teams; their search for identity and the establishment of a Midwifery Group Practice. It explores the midwives struggles to develop as a team and the changing relationships with each other, their colleagues and management. This study also highlights the changing dynamics of the woman-midwife relationship for these midwives, their own personal development and the impact the new way of working had on family life. Using policy ethnography, this study sets out to observe how a national policy (DoH, 1993) was implemented by the midwives providing the local service. It documents the transformational journey undertaken as they moved from practising within the confines of the hospital to a community-based service underpinned by the trusting relationship with the women in their care.

Pillay, Paramasivan. "How can cooperative learning be developed to enhance the teaching of biology at secondary school level?" Thesis, Rhodes University, 2001. http://hdl.handle.net/10962/d1003439.

Full text
Abstract:
This research was undertaken by a group of practising teachers as a collaborative effort to develop a cooperative approach to the teaching of Biology at Secondary School level. The research focussed on Grade 10 learners at three different schools over a period of one full academic school-year. During this time, four complete cycles within an action research framework were completed and reflected upon. Learners were then surveyed by means of a questionnaire and follow-up interviews. The reflective sessions, together with the responses from the questionnaire and interviews, provided a wealth of information with regard to the development of a cooperative approach to teaching. The cooperative classroom is vastly different from the traditional one. Here, new roles are assumed by both teacher and learner. Learners are largely expected to take charge of their learning experience in the classroom. The teacher, while still responsible for facilitating this learning experience, delegates authority to the learners. It was the experience of the group that the relationship between teacher and learner, as well as between learner and learner, vastly improved in the cooperative class where the participants were more relaxed. Over time, learners became more accountable in terms of their work and learning. Learners’ self-esteem and self-confidence grew, and the majority of learners indicated that their understanding of the work improved. Furthermore, the cooperative structure encouraged and developed self-discipline in the learners. In the early stages of this research, the group did find certain behaviour to be inhibiting: excessive noise, laziness, too much tomfoolery, and absenteeism. These problems were easily addressed within the action research framework, and were nearly non-existent by the end of the research. The group also found that: (i) cooperative lessons required more time than traditional lessons, often at the expense (justifiably) of the syllabus, and that: (ii) cooperative lessons played a major role in reactivating learner interest towards the learning process both in and outside the classroom.

Abstract:
Methods of superovulation, embryo recovery and embryo transfer were adapted and developed for application to Welsh Black cattle in a Group Breeding scheme. Three methods of oestrus detection in early postpartum suckling beef cows were evaluated. None was entirely reliable although a probe for the measurement of the electrical resistance of vaginal mucus was the most effective and the least stressful. The postpartum interval to superovulation did not affect the responses to treatment. The effect of suckling on embryo quality from superovulated Welsh Black cows was investigated. Three groups of cows (one dry and two suckling) were superovulated and their embryos recovered in two seasons; summer and autumn. Significant effects of season (P=O.016) and suckling (P=O.015) on embryo quality were detected. Season significantly affected the number of viable embryos (P=O.004). There were no effects on ovarian responses or on the numbers of embryos recovered. Nutritional supplementation and the administration of heG failed to improve embryo quality. Examination of the data from three years of superovulation and embryo recovery revealed significant monthly variations in % viable embryos (P=O.006) and in the numbers of viable embryos (P=O.02) recovered. Embryo recovery was not affected by the catheter used or by the side of uterus being flushed. The number of pari ties of the donor affected the ovulation rate (P=O.009) and the numbers of embryos recovered (P=O.028) but not the embryo recovery rate (%). No differences were detected in the superovulatory responses of cows bred by 3 methods nor from the method of oestrus synchronisation. Embryo transfers were performed by surgical and nonsurgical methods. Fresh and frozen embryos were successfully transferred by the surgical technique but no embryos transferred nonsurgically continued development. A measurement of cervical diameter was successful in identifying animals which were unsuitable for non-surgical embryo transfer and recovery procedures. n-Alkanes as nutritional markers for intake estimation were applied'to cattl~ in a performance test and to cows at pasture. The results obtained indicate that the method may be useful in the future development of selection methodologies for beef cattle. The findings of both series of investigations are discussed in relation to beef cattle improvement through Group Breeding schemes.

Kalimbo, Tomas. "An activity theoretical investigation into how leadership can be developed within a group of class monitors in a Namibian secondary school." Thesis, Rhodes University, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/10962/61734.

Full text
Abstract:
Literature suggests that developing leadership in learners benefits them and their schools in general. Learners are prepared as future leaders and they gain leadership skills and democratic values and principles. Learner leaders therefore contribute to transformation in their schools. However, research on the same topic has also found that learners have limited leadership development opportunities, as they are not authentically and democratically involved in leadership in many schools. Informed by the distributed perspective of leadership, this study investigates how leadership can be developed within a group of class monitors in a Namibian secondary school. Its overarching goal was to develop leadership and build transformative agency within class monitors. The study was designed as an interventionist study, theoretically and analytically framed by Engestrom’s second generation of Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT). Multiple methods were used for data collection, including questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, document analysis and Change Laboratory workshops. Data analysis took the form of content analysis and coding, as well as using the CHAT lens to surface contradictions. The findings of the study revealed that there was conceptual awareness on what learner leadership and leadership development meant among participants. However, little was being done to develop leadership in class monitors. Traditional leadership practices and cultural belief that learners are mere children, as well as confinement to formal leadership structures and policies were the main hindering inner contradictions within the research school. A formative intervention was instituted through the Change Laboratory workshop process and it resulted in leadership training to capacitate and empower class monitors, as well as enhance their transformative agency. The study thus recommends for a shift from traditional autocratic leadership practices to a contemporary distributed perspective of leadership that recognises the need to develop leadership in learners.

Abstract:
Renormalization group analysis is a useful tool for studying critical behaviour of stochastic systems. In this thesis, field-theoretic renormalization group will be applied to the scalar model representing directed percolation, known as Gribov model, in presence of the random velocity field. Turbulent mixing will be modelled by the compressible form of stochastic Navier-Stokes equation where the compressibility is described by an additional field related to the density. The task will be to find corresponding scaling properties.

Abstract:
Nowadays more and more IT companies switch to the distributed development model. This trend has a number of advantages and disadvantages, which are studied by researchers through different aspects of the modern code development. One of such aspects is code review, which is used by many companies and produces a big amount of data. A number of studies describe different data mining and data analysis approaches, which are based on a link between code review data and performance. According to these studies analysis of the code review data can give a good insight to the development performance and help software companies to detect a number of performance issues and improve the quality of their code. The main goal of this Thesis was to collect reported knowledge about the code review data analysis and implement a solution, which will help to perform such analysis in a real industrial setting. During the performance of the research the author used multiple research techniques, such as Snowballing literature review, Case study and Semi-structured interviews. The results of the research contain a list of code review data metrics, extracted from the literature and a software tool for collecting and visualizing data. The performed literature review showed that among the literature sources, related to the code review, relatively small amount of sources are related to the topic of the Thesis, which exposes a field for a future research. Application of the found metrics showed that most of the found metrics are possible to use in the context of the studied environment. Presentation of the results and interviews with company's representatives showed that the graphic plots are useful for observing trends and correlations in development of company's development sites and help the company to improve its performance and decision making process.

Abstract:
This thesis focus on the study of two critical systems out of equilibrium using the tools of the non-perturbative renormalization group (NPRG).The first system is the diffusive epidemic process. This stochastic process models the propagation of an epidemic within a population, where the infected individuals recover without immunization. This model exhibit a phase transition when the epidemic goes extinct. The study consisted in applied an approximate form of the NPRG named the modified local potential approximation to this transition. It led us to take a new look at the standard lore for this model, obtained through a perturbative renormalization group analysis. In particular, whether the phase transition belongs to the universality class of the directed percolation with a conserved quantity is called into question. The second system is fully developed homogeneous isotropic turbulence, as described by the Navier-Stokes equation. The stationary state of this driven-dissipative system shows a energy cascade whose phenomenology is typical of scale-invariant systems. A more in depth examination disclose that scale invariance is broken in a subtle way. This is the origin of intermittence phenomena in turbulence. We used a large wave-number expansion of the NPRG to study the temporal dependency of correlation functions in this system and whether the direct cascade in bidimensional turbulence could develop intermittency

Thank you.<br>Bandura (1986,1997) asserts that a group's belief in its members' co-joint abilities, or its collective-efficacy, influences the degree to which that group seeks challenging goals, puts forth effort, and persists in the face of adversity. Group leaders serve important functions in the development of successful groups (Yalom, 1995). Since successful coaches are able to consistently demonstrate the ability to mold a group of individuals into a winning team, it is important to understand what methods coaches employ to develop team confidence. The purpose of this study was to understand how master football coaches develop team confidence. The participants for this interview-based, qualitative study included twenty "master" football coaches (6 professional and 14 collegiate). Criteria for inclusion were as follows: each participant had been a head football coach for at least ten years, and had a consistent record of success. Seventeen of the twenty had achieved success with three or more different teams. The findings reveal that these coaches employ a wealth of psychological strategies in different situations to enhance the development of team confidence. Their selective deployment of these strategies takes place throughout a series of developmental tasks, here described as the "Team Confidence Cycle." This includes seven key tasks: 1. Set the Course, 2. Create a Confidence Environment, 3. Promote Mastery, 4. Get Them to Perform, 5. Assess Performance, 6. Stay the Course and 7. Maintain High Performance. In the interviews the coaches revealed that team confidence was essential to their view of how teams achieve success. The constructs of team confidence and success were considered closely intertwined. Promoting mastery experiences, therefore, was primary among those strategies used by the master coaches to build team confidence. A second key strategy was that they pointed out successful experiences to their team(s). These coaches thus placed the greatest importance on "demonstrating ability" and then ensuring that improvement was noted. These findings are in accordance with Bandura (1997). Implications for coaches, especially of youth sport, are outlined in the final chapter.<br>2031-01-01

Chang, Alexander Joshua. "Effects of Perceived Group Level Norms on the Relationship between Leader Characteristics and Motivation to Develop Leadership." Scholarship @ Claremont, 2015. http://scholarship.claremont.edu/cmc_theses/1184.

Full text
Abstract:
Leader self-development, as an approach to leader development, is defined as autonomous, self-regulated behaviors focused on developing one’s leadership capacities. Leader development, as a function, is purposeful engagement in the development of human capital, often in the form of formal training programs or on-the-job assignments. It has been theorized that leaders can only learn from such structured investments if they are motivated to self-develop as leaders. For this reason, self-development is a foundational element of leadership development in general. Previous research has found that certain leader characteristics such as feedback seeking, achievement seeking and mastery orientation predict an individual’s motivation for self-development. The current study examines whether matched perceived group-norms interact with leader characteristics to impact motivation to self-develop. 134 male and 33 female leaders who manage people within structured organizations completed an online self-report survey to assess participants’ leader characteristics, perceived group norms and motivation to self-develop. Results replicated previous research using a new sample, thus establishing the importance of leader characteristics of feedback seeking, achievement seeking, and mastery orientation in predicting motivation to self-development. Although results failed to support the predicted interactions between leader characteristics and matched group level norms, for the first time, group level norms of goal-setting and learning were found to have a direct effect on motivation to self-develop. Implications of increased leader self-development under specific, advantageous group norms are discussed.

Abstract:
Class of 2010 Abstract<br>OBJECTIVES: To determine what information and clinical skill sets current student pharmacists, recent graduates, and current preceptors felt should be incorporated in designing the Advanced Patient Care course at The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy (UACOP). METHODS: This was a prospective, descriptive study using focus groups. Subjects included students in the fourth year of a four-year Doctor of Pharmacy program at the UACOP currently on rotations, recent UACOP graduates practicing in residency programs, and current preceptors for the UACOP who work closely with the students. Participants verbally consented and completed a demographic questionnaire. The three focus group sessions (each lasting 1.5 hours) were audiotaped, and the data was coded into categories and subcategories based on frequencies of topics that were discussed. RESULTS: A total of 14 subjects, separated into three focus groups of students, residents, and preceptors were held with 5, 4, and 5 subjects respectively. Both men and women were included in the study, with only females in the resident group. The student, resident, and preceptor groups had mean ages of 29±5.4, 28±3.7, and 47±12 years respectively. Overall the most commonly discussed topics included various learning techniques, specific drug or disease state focuses, and the importance of professionalism. CONCLUSIONS: Many insightful ideas for the Advanced Patient Care course soon to be implemented at the UACOP were generated by the three focus groups. Focus groups including pharmacy students, residents and preceptors are a useful tool for designing new courses and determining information and skill sets to be added to college of pharmacy curriculums.

Abstract:
The land around Herrevad Abbey consists mostly of pastures with a lot of old coarse oaks, a touch of broad-leaved decidous forest andmixed deciduous and coniferous forest. In the year 2010 the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency became owner of the area around Herrevad Abbey, previously owned by the Swedish National Fortification Administration. A high pressure from hunting occurred during the Swedish National Fortification Administration ownership. This resulted in a decrease of the roe deer (Capreolus capreolus L.) population. A pellet-group count is a reliable, indirect inventory method that is used with high frequence within wildlife management since the 1930s. Pellet-group count is used in Swedish Wildlife research since the 1977 at Grimsö Research Station and today an increasing interest for this method is seen both in nature management, among hunters and  in the Swedish Association for Hunters. Through a pellet-group count of a roe deer population, an underestimated index of the total density is shown, which means that the investigated population can be larger than the survey shows. The pellet-group count in this study covered 3,20 km-2 with a total of 315 plots. The plot had a circular shape and covered 10m2, which is recommended for roe deer surveys. Each plot was investigated twice, one round clockwise and one round counter clock-wise to increase the precision of the survey. The calculation showed 10,76 roe deer per 1,00 km-2 in winter population during 2010; with a 10% set-off for winter mortality and 8,22 roe deer per 1,00 km-2 in winter population with a 30% set-off. The density with 10,76 roe deer /km-2 is low compared to experimental plots at Bogesund, Ekenäs, where the population is estimated to around 17-23 roe deer/ 1,00 km-2. A calculation for carrying capacity shows that the population will reach the density limit within four years at Herrevad Abbey.

Perge, Emilie. "Poverty within tropical forest : assets and activities to develop pro-poor forest conservation." Thesis, University of Sussex, 2011. http://sro.sussex.ac.uk/id/eprint/6930/.

Full text
Abstract:
Poverty within forests is often acknowledged but poorly assessed through economic evi- dence. To some extent, this lack of evidence explains why even if forest conservation has positive effects on households' welfare, such benefits are quite limited. This thesis is aimed at investigating in three steps how forest conservation can help poor forest households to improve their welfare. A first chapter deals with assessing poverty of forest households in Bolivia looking at their asset accumulation and allowing for a poverty trap mechanism that may arise, preventing households to be better off. The empirical analysis does not find evidence for the exis- tence of a poverty trap. Households are slowly accumulating assets over time but such an accumulation does not lead to any improvements in their welfare. Households would remain persistently poor. A second chapter focuses on forest households' labour supply and allocations. Using primary data I collected in Cameroon, a non-separable agricultural household model is employed to identify factors influencing household labour supply and allocations into di- verse activities. The empirical results shows that leisure is an inferior good, households working more when having greater income. Furthermore, households participating in for- est activities have higher levels of welfare than households that do not. Increasing prices of forest resources helps households to improve their welfare. The last chapter deals with designing payments for forest conservation so as to encourage forest households to internalise externalities. These payments are theoretically analysed using a principal-agent game in order to define incentives such that a forest group plants and conserves a great number of trees. Payments are non-zero when observing such con- servation levels and equal to zero in all other cases. Doing so creates a virtuous circle on forest resources. Pro-poor conservation schemes as opposed to non-pro poor, are achiev- able with lower payments.

Tshuma, Sibhekinkosi Anna. "Reading clubs as a literacy intervention tool to develop English vocabulary amongst Grade 3 English second language learners at a school in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape." Thesis, Rhodes University, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/10962/d1011755.

Full text
Abstract:
This study is part of a larger research programme that seeks to contribute towards an understanding of South Africa's complex literacy landscape and formulate strategies that may address these particularly in the Foundation Phase. It is a case study of one public primary school in Grahamstown where isiXhosa is used as a medium of instruction until Grade 3, after which the medium of instruction changes to English. This transition is not helped by the little reading that happens in the language at the FP. The learners under study are Grade 3 isiXhosa first language speakers, learning English as a First Additional Language (FAL) with limited exposure to the language. Through a qualitative participatory action research process, the study investigated the extent to which a reading club in general and a responsive reading programme in particular, might develop learners' English vocabulary at this particular school. The value of reading clubs as a vehicle for second language learning as well as the importance of considering learner needs in the development of the reading programme are key contributions this study makes. The study draws on social constructivism as a theoretical framework based on the principle that learning is a social acitvity. Vygotsky (1978) states that language learning (LL) takes place through interactions in meaningful events, rather that through isolated language activities. The process is seen as holistic, that is, each mode of language supoorts and enhances overall language development. Furthermore, LL develops in relation to the context in which it is used, that is, it develops according to the situation, the topic under discussion and the relationship betwwen participants. Language also develops through active engagement of the learners. The role of the teacher or a more competent other is then seen as that of a facilitator in a learning context in which learners are viewed as equally capable of contributing to their learning through learning from and with each other (Holt and Willard-Holt, 2000). Vygotsky's theory of social interaction has been influential in highlighting the important role of social and cultural contexts in extending children's learning. The preliminary results of this study point toward the importance of the learning environment, particularly an informal environment in second language development. The results also highlight the need for learners (a) to be provided with opportunities to engage with meaningful and authentic texts, (b) to be allowed to make their own book choices, (c) to participate in large group, small group and individual activities to enable them to engage with a variety of texts, and (d) to confront vocabulary in a variety of ways through multiple texts and genres.

Kinuthia, Wanyee. "“Accumulation by Dispossession” by the Global Extractive Industry: The Case of Canada." Thèse, Université d'Ottawa / University of Ottawa, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/10393/30170.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis draws on David Harvey’s concept of “accumulation by dispossession” and an international political economy (IPE) approach centred on the institutional arrangements and power structures that privilege certain actors and values, in order to critique current capitalist practices of primitive accumulation by the global corporate extractive industry. The thesis examines how accumulation by dispossession by the global extractive industry is facilitated by the “free entry” or “free mining” principle. It does so by focusing on Canada as a leader in the global extractive industry and the spread of this country’s mining laws to other countries – in other words, the transnationalisation of norms in the global extractive industry – so as to maintain a consistent and familiar operating environment for Canadian extractive companies. The transnationalisation of norms is further promoted by key international institutions such as the World Bank, which is also the world’s largest development lender and also plays a key role in shaping the regulations that govern natural resource extraction. The thesis briefly investigates some Canadian examples of resource extraction projects, in order to demonstrate the weaknesses of Canadian mining laws, particularly the lack of protection of landowners’ rights under the free entry system and the subsequent need for “free, prior and informed consent” (FPIC). The thesis also considers some of the challenges to the adoption and implementation of the right to FPIC. These challenges include embedded institutional structures like the free entry mining system, international political economy (IPE) as shaped by international institutions and powerful corporations, as well as concerns regarding ‘local’ power structures or the legitimacy of representatives of communities affected by extractive projects. The thesis concludes that in order for Canada to be truly recognized as a leader in the global extractive industry, it must establish legal norms domestically to ensure that Canadian mining companies and residents can be held accountable when there is evidence of environmental and/or human rights violations associated with the activities of Canadian mining companies abroad. The thesis also concludes that Canada needs to address underlying structural issues such as the free entry mining system and implement FPIC, in order to curb “accumulation by dispossession” by the extractive industry, both domestically and abroad.

Qualitative method was used in this study. A junior high school class was observed, and a typical student group was selected to analyze their group interaction. Data collected included audiotapes, videotapes, interviews, and documents. Data analysis was first by using STAM-S to identify the overarching patterns in the whole teaching process and discourse analysis was then followed to explore the relationships between events, interactions, and learning results within a focus group. The findings of this study were summarized as follows: 1.The mode of group interaction is 「group-centered pattern」 suggested by Johnson and Johnson (1991). That is, the members of the group accomplish tasks through communication and cooperation. 2.In this integrated module, students construct knowledge through group interaction. And knowledge construction was done both by individual and group.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立臺北教育大學<br>藝術學系碩士班<br>95<br>Abstract This paper aims to explore the impact of the implementation of ‘Self-concept developed group of art therapy approach’ on the primary self-concept of elementary high-grade students and on the secondary self-concept (family, school, look, body and self-concept). The study adopted the experiment research design and the subjects are elementary high-grade students divided into the experiment group and the control group. The experiment group was engaged in the 8-unit art therapy activity while the control one was not; before and after the experiment courses began the 2 groups were engaged in the pre-test and post-test of ‘Elementary students’ self-concept scale’ and the data were process through ‘independent sample one-way ANCOVA’ via SPSS. We adopted the document, observation and interview data collected during and after the implementation period as the auxiliary analysis of statistic data in order to realize the impact of the activity on the elementary high-grade students. The findings are: 1. There is no apparent difference between the pretest and posttest of the experiment group and the control group via independent sample one-way t-test. However, as for the mean we see the decline points of the self-concept of the control group and the rise of the experiment group. Via the analysis of the pretest and posttest of the experiment group via dependent sample t-test there is significant difference between the pretest and the posttest of the experiment group. According to the analysis and the interview content of students, guidance teacher and parents, the immediate counseling result of the art therapy activity concerning the self-concept of elementary high-grade students was demonstrated. 2. We put the pretest and the posttest of the self-concept sub-scales of the experiment group via dependent sample t-test and we found the difference existing in the look scale and there is no apparent difference concerning family, school, body and emotion self-concept. Nonetheless, in compliance with the observation data during the activity and the interview data of students, parents and guidance teacher after the activity, the members demonstrated more positive behaviors concerning the self-concept in family and at school. Finally we propose the concrete suggestions to school, counseling persons and the further studies according to the results and findings.

The study was employed non-random quasi-experimental pre-posttest and follow-up measures design. The subjects were ten students who were 4th grade to 6th grade with ADHD in elementary schools of Kaohsuing. The experimental group was treated by the Activity of Self-Developed Group in one and half hour per week for twelve weeks, but the controlled group wasn’t given any treatment. The measure of this study was “Elementary School Students Self-concept Scale”. Moreover, the study analyzed the process of group activity and the counseling effects, according to the feedback from the experimental group members, the parents’ feedback, the teacher’s feedback, the video recorded data, the researcher’s notes of introspection, and the activities observantion. In the study, the pretest score was covariance and the data was analyzed and verified by the “ONEWAY MANOVA with covariates.” The followings were the findings of the study: 1. The Activity of Self-Developed Group had neither instantly significant effects nor follow-up effects on the improvement of “family self-concept”, “school self-concept”, “appearance self-concept”, “body self-concept” and “emotion self-concept” of students with ADHD in the elementary schools. 2. Students had positive attitudes toward the Activity of Self-Developed Group and gained a lot from it. Parents and teachers also had that attitude, but also considered that the program didn’t have significant changes to the children with ADHD. According to the results, the researcher proposed a certain number of suggestions in the areas of special education affairs and further studies.

Abstract:
The focus of the research reported on in this dissertation is an evaluation of the Language in Learning and Teaching project (LILT), in terms of its ability to facilitate English language development in schools where both educators and learners are second language speakers and where the Language of Learning and Teaching (LoLT) is English. The research involved two main phases. During the first phase I established evaluation criteria from the literature review, from another project the English Language Education Trust, (ELET) and from my own experience and feedback from the end-users (Le. teachers) and the observation of workshops. In the second phase I evaluated the LILT materials against the criteria developed in the literature review, analysed the feedback from end-users in the form of a questionnaire and made recommendations. In this dissertation the following terms will be used interchangeably: teacher, educator, facilitator and tutor because in the quoted passages, the term teacher is largely used. However, in Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) the terms educator, facilitator and tutor are used.<br>Thesis (M.A.)-University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, 2001.

New users will spend a saturated day, the market will no longer focus on adding new users, but focus on other emerging and innovative application services such as electronic advertising, electronic media, online and offline online shopping, online video, live broadcast and other services. Due to the rise of this wave, the traditional tourism industry structure has undergone earth-shaking changes. Tourism-related industries face this impact and have diversified to deal with it. As a result, diversification, alliances, and other business methods can be carried out in difficult environments with live platforms with common ideas, and important information will be presented on the platform. Through technology and big data calculations, we can find out that each operator in the platform has the right operating model to quickly and accurately select resources, achieve effective integration, and maximize benefits with minimal investment costs. The case study found that the strategic alliance method used by the group is not the group to the group, or the group to the individual, but the person in charge of the group directly faces each live broadcaster. The position and starting point of the person in charge and the live broadcast are the same, so The cooperation between the two parties is established in the context of reciprocity, together with the same vision and philosophy, consolidating the domestic demand market and introducing the direction of Taiwan's beauty.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立臺灣大學<br>臺大-復旦EMBA境外專班<br>103<br>Property development is a trade of business featuring long industrial cycle, low turnover, susceptibility to political and economic factors and risks from economic fluctuation. News that developers run out of capitals or run on high financial leverage is frequent. Property developers are known to bankrupt due to shortage of cash flow or inability of flexible financial operations as they are subject to the rapid changes in the factors mentioned above. As a result, developers have to improve and even extend their competitiveness by improving company efficiency, reforming corporate organization and strengthening the relationship with clients. In addition to merging and market expansion, they often seek to exploit the existing resources, increase independence, pursue for growth outside the trade of business, lower risks, and have more flexible financial operations for better synergy through vertical integration and diversification. Some even have to transform in response to the current trends as the “Philips Group” did. The transformation and diversification are for the sake of improvement of “product value” and the goal of sustainable operations. As a starter, Chapter 3 is the discussion of corporate competitive strategy and extended theories on expansion, integration and diversification in market and products to build the theoretical foundation for the practical interviews presented in Chapter 4. The interviews with CEOs of Lih Pao and Kindom in Chapter 4 provide an understanding of the process they started the diversification, the type and characteristics of existing resources they had at the beginning (in their original trade of business), timing as they started the diversification, the process of diversification, the selection and implementation of diversification strategies, whether to introduce a professional management team and performance review, and what to do if the business performance is not satisfactory. Also, the interviews provide the information on what role(s) CEOs play in the diversification, the keys to successful diversification for small and medium-sized businesses based on their experience in business running and diversification, and most importantly, the inspirations and suggestions that they believe helpful for property developers who are interested in diversification strategies from the experience of these two top-level groups in property development. The study started with theory investigation to pave the way for the practical interviews that provided the experience in successful diversification of the case study subjects, as to identify the common grounds for diversification strategies both in practice and theory. Finally, the practical motivation, sequence and even direction of the diversification for these property developers were determined. Hopefully, the result will serve as the experience and suggestions for other property developers interested in diversification and contribute to their success in diversification strategies.

Social interest was used to facilitate autonomy in group dynamics. The main participant of the current research is a homeroom teacher from an urban junior high school. The researcher continued classroom observations on the homeroom teacher and the classes she was in charge of for two semesters-- a ninth grade class in the 101st academic year and the seventh grade freshmen class in the 102nd academic year. Case study method was adopted. Multiple data sources were collected from interviews with the homeroom teacher and her students, as well as classroom observations. In the second semester of the 101st academic year, six ninth graders were interviewed and this particular class was observed to learn more about classroom interactions. In the first semester of the 102nd academic year, eight students from the homeroom teacher’s seventh grade class and herself were interviewed six times. Meanwhile, fourteen classroom observations were conducted. The research results showed the two classes under investigation demonstrating autonomy in several aspects, including further reflections on the teacher’s decisions and demands, constantly keeping the teacher in their minds, and self-discipline. Several approaches were used by the teacher, based on the concepts of social interest, to develop student autonomy. First, modeling perspective taking through caring about others; secondly, putting herself in others’ shoes, especially the students’ through creating fun and joy in classes; thirdly, cultivating a sense of community in diversity and oneness in idiosyncrasy.

In recent years, unlimited extraction and use of fossil fuel energy has not only forcing the energy storage to become empty but also seriously affected the ecological balance of the earth. Because the impact of power resource shortage and the trend of environment protection in recently, the solar photovoltaic industry has became a target industry, photovoltaic solar power generation has been considered as one of the most important policies in many develop country. Particularly in the III-V Group HCPV power system, it’s high photoelectric conversion efficiency and the process not produce pollution, so the development trend of the future energy industry. This study useing USPTO database to analyze III-V Group high concentration photovoltaic patent map, which help understand the developing trend of this technique. And in using of user-orientation demand direction to explore the demand survey of current plants for the utility of III-V Group high concentration photovoltaic. By doing this, we can estimate and summarize the effectiveness of user-orientation demand. At the same time, we can understand whether there are differences between the user-orientation demand and utility demand which we getting from the utility matrix of patent technology.
