Gouguet, Jules. "La réduplication syntaxique et la structure du groupe verbal en mandarin, en anglais et en autres langues." Paris 7, 2008. http://www.theses.fr/2008PA070085.
Full textThe first part of this dissertation studies the complex structure of the Mandarin verb phrase. The syntax of arguments and postverbal adverbials in Mandarin has been the object of much research, but no analysis has yet been able to account for all the data. Part of the difficulty owes to the practice of analysing postverbal adverbials as verb complements. A uniform analysis becomes available once this hypothesis replaced by one where adverbials are specifiers of aspectual projections internal to the extended verb phrase. The analysis can be extended to cover Mandarin resultative verb compounds as well as the reduplicative phenomenon known as "the verb copying construction". The second part of this dissertation seeks to establish how and why complex syntactic movement, as is proposed for the verb copying construction, can give rise to reduplication. A theory of the phonological interpretation of movement chains is proposed which allows for reduplicative movement to be distinguished from remnant movement in derivational terms, particularly based on phase theory. This new theory is applied to cases of reduplication and remnant movement in several languages, and notably to predicate fronting in English, for which a new analysis is proposed

Full textThis dissertation investigates three empirical phenomena in Arabic: the so called 'possessive' datives, cognate objects and the tenth bynyan; It is shown that these three phenomena --which share the property of being non arguments of the verbal predicate despite the fact that they behave syntactically and morphologically as if they were -- require 'splitting' the VP domain into a vriety of functional projections --vP, NumP-- and more primitive lexical predicates (heads). The 'hybrid' behaviour of these entities can be explained if one adopts the view that the constituents merged inside VP need not be purely thematic. The 'splitting' of the VP suggested here allows for a more systematic analysis of the various bynians of Arabic
Zemirli, Zouhir. "Synthèse vocale de textes arabes voyellés." Toulouse 3, 2004. http://www.theses.fr/2004TOU30262.
Full textThe text to speech synthesis consists in creating speech by analysis of a text which is subjected to no restriction. The object of this thesis is to describe the modeling and the taking into account of knowledge in phonetic, phonological, morpho-lexical and syntactic necessary to the development of a complete system of voice synthesis starting from diacritized arab texts. The automatic generation of the prosodico-phonetics sequence required the development of several components. The morphosyntaxic labelling "TAGGAR" carries out grammatical labelling, a marking and a syntactic grouping and the automatic insertion of the pauses. Graphemes to phonemes conversion is ensured by using lexicons, syntactic grammars, morpho-orthographical and phonological rules. A multiplicative model of prediction of the duration of the phonemes is described and a model of generation of the prosodic contours based on the accents of the words and the syntactic group is presented

Full textWithin the framework of generative syntax, this dissertation offers an in-depth investigation of the syntax of the noun phrase (DP) in Mauritian Creole. In addition to the internal structure of complex DPs, it investigates the distribution of determinerless simplex DPs and of adnominal adjectives. It is shown that the referential properties of bare nouns and plural noun phrases containing the bann arise in part from their syntactic position and in part from the global content of the sentence. Other topics of investigation include adjectives, possessive DPs, relative clauses and free relatives. Diagnostic tests are provided to define Adjectives as a syntactic category in MC. New analyses are proposed for the third person pronoun so in possessive noun phrases, the complementizer ki, resumptive pronouns and the morphological word se-ki/sa-ki occurring in free relatives

Full textOur research is related both to Second Language Acquisition Research and to Foreign Language Didactics, and has a twofold objective.First, we described crosslinguistic influences, from Spanish L1 and English L2, in the acquisition processes of some structures related to the verb construction in French L3, i.e. the verb construction with noun phrases, the selection of prepositions that potentially introduce these complements, and the acquisition of complement pronouns. To carry out this identification of syntactic transfers, we consider theoretical contributions from both multilingual acquisition research and studies that define developmental stages in French acquisition. Our study is based on written productions taken from first-year students, beginners in French, of the Translation/Interpretation university program at Universidad de Concepción in Chile. The second objective of our research consists of a didactic transposition of empirical results in order to better support the learning of French in our training context. Our teaching proposals deal with the selection and sequencing of grammatical contents, the methodological approach of grammar instruction, and the correction/evaluation of learners’ grammatical competence. In the end, our didactic purpose is to contribute to multilingual learners training and self-conscience of their acquisition processes, to support them with the reflexive use of their linguistic knowledge, in particular their grammatical knowledge
