Abstract:
The aim of the paper is twofold: 1. to examine the identities and differences of the Chinese model of the developmental and entrepreneurial state ‘with Chinese characteristics’ with the general East Asian developmental state model, and 2. to derive some perspectives for the future of the particular Chinese model of the developmental state. The paper is structured as follows. The first main section briefly discusses China’s growth performance and policies since World War II with respect to the country’s development efforts. Subsequent sections analyse aspects of the particular economic development framework of China, based on an interventionist heterodox developmental state argument, and describe some critical development policy areas that emanate from such an argument placing great emphasis on industrial targeting while taking the country’s sociocultural and politico-institutional traits into consideration. Some conclusions end the paper.

Abstract:
Industrial development in any nation plays a vital role in the strengthening of the economy and employs human resources as per specifications and directly towards the mainstream of the nation. In Saudi Arabia, there was rapid industrialization for four decades. Some manufacturing industries performed well, while some internal and external business environment factors influenced the others’ performance. The study focuses on historical development, as well as recent trends of well-performing and poor-performing industries of Saudi Arabia. Small manufacturing industries in Saudi Arabia are underdeveloped and need more attention to attain sustainable and progressive growth rate in the form of the number of establishments to enjoy the potential. Manufacture of tobacco, computer, electronics and optics, pharmaceuticals and transport equipment are the deprived and underdeveloped industries of the manufacturing sector. There should be some easy credit schemes for the development of deprived or underdeveloped manufacturing industries. To attain sustainable growth and development of the manufacturing sector, a positive attitude of the government towards underdeveloped manufacturing industries, favorable labor laws, and entrepreneurial awareness, technical and financial assistance are necessary. The growth and development of the manufacturing sector of Saudi Arabia will be helpful in the attainment of goals of Vision 2030.

Abstract:
According to an inclusive growth framework, the top objectives of the economic policy shift from increasing incomes themselves to well-being. While banking sector development has conventionally been considered a growth factor, there is no clear understanding of its impact on inclusive growth. This article explores how the banking sector’s qualitative development, measured in dimensions of the services availability, lending supply, stability, and reliability of banking activity, relates to inclusive growth. To define the relations between banking system development and inclusive growth, the panel regression was employed for a sample of 46 economies selected based on the prescribed principles of sources reputability, methodology consistency, limits in data blanks, and differentiated into groups according to the World Bank’s classification. The regressions’ assessment and involved tests show evidence of the quality of constructed models and present the following results. The banking availability, approximated with the number of automated teller machines, fosters inclusive growth regarding all groups of countries. In contrast, the increase in the number of commercial banking branches has inverse relations between high-income and upper-middle-income countries, and direct for lower-middle-income countries. The bank credit expansion negatively influences the inclusive growth for high income and lower-middle-income countries. The banking sector stability approximated with bank capital to assets ratio matters in terms of inclusive growth for high-income countries only, while this indicator for upper middle and lower middle economies is statistically insignificant.

Abstract:
Rapid economic growth is a relatively recent phenomenon, which has been examined since the end of the 18th century. In the scientific literature researchers use the concept of “economic growth” and “economic development” when analyzing economic processes. “Economic growth”, as defined by Paul M. Romer occurs whenever people use resources and rearrange them in more valuable ways. Thus, economic growth means an increase in a real national income / national output. In contrast, economic development is an improvement of the quality of life and living standards, e.g. improvement of literacy, life expectancy, and approach to environmental issues. Economic development encircles a wider range of metrics than just gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, it is about actual standard of living, level of environmental standards, availability and quality of housing and other aspects. The article analyzes, compares and evaluates theories of economic growth and economic development in the context of sustainable development.

Zhu, Haibo. "Muscle Growth and Development in Intrauterine Growth Restricted Pigs." Diss., Virginia Tech, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/72883.

Full text
Abstract:
Intrauterine growth restriction causes impaired growth and development of mammalian fetus, and leads to long-term negative effect on postnatal growth. Among domestic animals, pigs exhibit the most severe naturally occurring IUGR and reduced postnatal muscle growth. The objectives of this research project were to: 1) determine muscle stem cell characteristics in IUGR pigs; 2) determine how intrauterine growth restriction alters protein deposition in skeletal muscle; 3) investigate whether branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) are able to enhance protein synthesis in intrauterine growth restricted (IUGR) pig muscle. Newborn piglets were considered normal body weight (NBWT) or IUGR when birth weight was within ± 0.5 SD and -2 SD of litter average respectively. Muscle satellite cell numbers, believed to be the major nuclei source for postnatal muscle growth, were lower in newborn IUGR pigs which could result in reduced muscle hypertrophy potential. In addition, cultures derived from IUGR muscle satellite cells had a lower fusion percentage. Fewer satellite cells and impaired differentiation ability may contributor to impaired muscle growth in these pigs. Protein synthesis rate was significantly lower in IUGR pig hindquarter in the first hour after feeding, but BCAA supplementation had no effect on protein synthesis in IUGR pigs. Further, eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) expression is down regulated in IUGR pig muscle. These results suggest that impaired translation initiation may provide a plausible explanation for the lower protein synthesis rates observed in IUGR pigs. Overall, reduced muscle stem cell number and changes in their activity, as well as impaired translation initiation may be important explanations for compromised postnatal muscle growth in intrauterine growth restricted pigs.

Abstract:
Summaries of cotton crop phenology, as a function of heat units (HU, 86/55°F limits) have been developed across a wide range of production conditions in Arizona. Basic phenological events such as the occurrence of pinhead squares, squares susceptible to pink bollworm, and first bloom are described in terms of HU accumulations since planting (HUAP). Fruit retention guidelines and height: node ratios, which measure a crop's vegetative /reproductive balance, are developed as a function of HUAP. Similarly, the rate of canopy closure is described in terms of HUAP. The use of the number of nodes above the top white bloom to the terminal (NAWB) is developed as a measure of a crops progression towards cut-out. Also, the expected ranges of HU's accumulated since planting that are required to accomplish crop cut-out are shown for Upland and Pima cotton.

This thesis deals with economic growth theory. By growth theory I refer to that field of economic theory which studies through mathematical models, the mechanisms behind the growth of the main macroeconomic variables like capital, consumption and output. These economic mechanisms depend crucially on the set of hypothesis which the model is built on. Relax some of these assumptions, or change some of them, in order to increase the explicatory power of the model is one of the main objective of the theoretic macroeconomist.

Abstract:
Thesis (BTech (Surface Design))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2010
This research is inspired by my own personal experience and views on Post Modem family life and the negative effects it can have on a growing individual. I have found Post Modem family life fractured and non-communicative. I then look at my own tactics of how I have personally dealt with the fractured state and how this can benefit children that are at the beginning fazes of their emotional, physical and mental development. Growing up communication and consistency in my family has always been lacking, due to my parents business trips and strange working hours. This made me detached socially as a child and left me to my own devices. My coping mechanism was to illustrate. Whenever I felt disconnected or alone from my family members I illustrated. While illustrating I formed a dialogue between me and the paper and suddenly I did not feel so alone. When reflecting on my life I realized that I do not want other children to resort to these lonely pastimes of placing their imagination on paper. I want to create a range of products where the emphasis is on how family should stick together and the products must form a natural platform for communication between child and parent. I also feel my products must stimulate the imagination which is linked to the right side of the brain that steers social and emotional development. Theorists that I will for my research is Maria Montessori, she was the creator and founder of Montessori Schools and teachings. She focussed on the holistic development of the child. Rudolf Steiner is the creator and founder of the Wahldorf Schule and teachings. He believed in developing children imagination. We live in the Post-Modem era and to solidify that I will look at Jean-Francois Lyotard's theories on Post Modem sociology. Vygotsky is a Child development psychologist who believed that children's social development happens by interacting with their parents. Roger Sperry is a Brain Dominance Theorist that believed that the right side of the brain is connected to social development and to stimulate the right side is by using your imagination.

Abstract:
In accordance with the requirements of the "Local Self-Government Code", for the purpose of equal socio-economic development of the entire territory of the country, the relevant state authorities should establish relevant state standards and technical regulations in the field of self-governments' own and delegated powers. In local self-governments, the issue of budgetary independence and sustainable development of the municipal economy is even more difficult considering the Russia-Ukraine war and the unpredictable processes taking place in the world. Based on the current situation, local self-governments should develop an economic policy designed for internal and external risks. It is necessary to increase the competence of civil servants of local self-governments and accordingly to increase the share of local self-governments' own revenues in the total municipal budget. Local self-governments, in order to ensure the implementation of their powers, should support the local business sector as much as possible in order to additionally create new jobs. Local self-governments should develop such local development plans that take into account local capabilities as much as possible and ensure sustainable socio-economic development of citizens living in local self-governments. When drawing up local development plans, the experience of foreign developed countries and local self-governments should be used as much as possible. If necessary, local self-governments of Georgia should establish joint ventures with friendly foreign cities. Mutual sharing of experience and introduction of modern European innovations and innovations in local self-governments of Georgia should be done as much as possible. There are important measures to be taken in local self-governments, in the direction of reducing corruption, nepotism and shadow economy. One of the important problems in local self-governments is low competence of civil servants, lack of local initiatives, underestimation of successful civil servants. The created situation significantly worsens the quality of work of local self-governments and promotes the outflow of professional staff from local self-governments. The situation is further complicated by the fact that the demographic situation in the local governments (as well as in the whole country) has significantly deteriorated. If we do not confront the created situation with a sound and effective demographic policy, then the situation will become even more complicated in the near future, which may lead to a national catastrophe. The situation created in the world and in the region is very unusual, hence the socio-economic policy developed by the local self-governments is also unusual and should be calculated on external and internal risks. Abstract:
Despite technological revolution, highly developed staff was, is, and will always be unchanged factor of an organizational success. However, from the two main practices of advancing the staff, the way, which considers educating the workforce, is, undeniably, the better tactic. Here comes the question – what does developing the staff mean? In our opinion, it means, firstly, improving competence and establishing healthy corporation culture in the organization, since the personal more qualified than competitors and the aptitude to use their abilities efficiently is the most important prerequisite of developing a successful strategy. Nevertheless, burgeoning the manpower, It is clear, that creating key components is not easy. It is not buyable, which makes the situation way more complicated. Even coping the successful companies does not give a result. It must be created in the company and developed there too. Visibly, Corporate culture combined with strategy is a powerful weapon in the process of success. Therefore, in case of not quitting caring for staff and nonstop development of the company’s competence by management, we believe it is reasonable to generate the following priorities in the organizational structure which we can name as “strategic competences” and “strategic culture”. In our opinion, without those the long-term development of the company is impossible. Creating those kinds of structures will accumulate important knowledge in the direction assigned to them, which has crucial meaning for development of the company nowadays. Article in Georgian.

RÖHLE, Heinz. "GROWTH PERFORMANCE AND MANAGEMENT IN MIXED FOREST STANDS." In RURAL DEVELOPMENT. Aleksandras Stulginskis University, 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.15544/rd.2017.122.

Full text
Abstract:
In 2017, the global population stands at about 7.6 billion. Due to the medium variant of the population projections, developed by the UN, the world population will grow to nearly 10 billion by the middle of this century. As a consequence, the worldwide demand for wood will increase. Therefore, the forest sector has to develop concepts in order to cope with the increasing demand for wood, the altering environmental conditions and the challenge of climate change. Modified silvicultural treatment programs may contribute to solving these questions. Appropriate measures are the conversion of pure stands into mixed stands, the promotion of natural regeneration instead of artificial regeneration and the creation of structured forests consisting of indigenous or foreign tree species, which are better adapted to climate change and/or are growing faster. Mixed stands often exceed the volume as well as the biomass productivity of pure stands and increase the biodiversity of forest landscapes. Forest simulation models are a prerequisite for the management of mixed stands. They provide enhanced opportunities of planning for forest conversion and facilitate the decision support in forest practice. These model approaches support the development of goal oriented thinning programs and make it possible to test and optimize alternative silvicultural concepts without the establishment of experimental plots. The Bavarian State Forest Enterprise (Bayerische Staatsforsten) is managing 808731 ha of forest area in the southern part of Germany. Since 2005 this enterprise is converting pure, coniferous stands (> 200000 ha of forest area) into mixed, uneven-aged forests. A simulation program (single tree simulator) is used in order to achieve this goal.
