Guzer? + ? Nellore (F1) and ? Guzer? + ? Limousin + ? Nellore (F2) were evaluated. Each experimental group was constituted by twelve animals. The bovines presented respective average weights to F1 and F2 of 477,50 ? 18,54 and 468,89 ? 21,03 kg at the beginning of experimental period and 526,83 ? 18,77 kg and 516,08 ? 20,03 kg in the slaughter occasion. The steers were maintained in Panicum maximum cv. Tanz?nia pastures and received feeding, in proportion of 1% live weight, with 22,2% of crude protein and 72,5% of total digestible nutrients (TDN). There was no significant difference (P>0,05) between genetic groups to the majority of body measures, cold carcass, special hindquarter and forequarter weights, special hindquarter percentage, cold carcass and special hindquarter yield, fat thickness, fat thickness adjusted to 100 kg of cold carcass, conformation e the variables that express the carcass physical composition. There was no significant correlation, positive or negative, between carcass measures and economical interesting characteristics. The F1 animals were superior to F2 to side cut weight, percentage and yield. On the other hand, the F2 animal presented higher values to spine-loin length, side cut percentage and yield, loin eye area and loin eye area adjusted to 100 kg of cold carcass when compared to F1 ones. To the correlations, there was significant and positive association between thoracic perimeter (0,62), thoracic depth (0,35), rump length (0,40) and cold carcass weight, as well as there was significant and positive correlations between spine-loin length and loin eye area (0,61) and cushion thickness and special hindquarter yield (0,43). Significant and negative correlation was detected between rump length and muscle yield (-0,43). Considering the experimental condition and the evaluated genetic groups, it is concluded that F2 animals are longer and present right proportions of carcass commercial cuts and measures as loin eye area in relation to the F1. Thoracic perimeter and depth, spine-loin and rump length and cushion thickness are positively associated to the cold carcass weight, loin eye area and muscle and special hindquarter yield.<br>As caracter?sticas da carca?a de novilhos ? N?o houve correla??o significativa, positiva ou negativa, entre medidas obtidas na carca?a e caracter?sticas de interesse econ?mico. Os animais F1 foram superiores aos F2 para peso, percentagem e rendimento do corte costilhar. Por outro lado, os animais F2 apresentaram valores mais elevados de comprimento dorso-lombo, percentagem e rendimento do corte dianteiro, ?rea de olho de lombo e ?rea de olho de lombo ajustada para 100 kg de carca?a resfriada quando comparados aos F1. Para as correla??es, houve associa??o significativa e positiva entre per?metro tor?cico (0,62), profundidade tor?cica (0,35), comprimento de garupa (0,40) e peso da carca?a resfriada, assim como existiram correla??es positivas e significativas entre comprimento dorso-lombo e ?rea de olho do lombo (0,61) e espessura de cox?o e rendimento do corte serrote (0,43). Correla??o significativa e negativa foi detectada entre o comprimento da garupa e rendimento de m?sculo (-0,43). Considerando as condi??es experimentais e os grupos gen?ticos avaliados, conclui-se que animais F2 s?o mais longil?neos e apresentam propor??es adequadas dos cortes comerciais da carca?a e de medidas como a ?rea de olho do lombo em rela??o aos animais F1. Seit einigen Jahren sind bildungsreformerische Hoffnungen vor allem mit den Begriffen „Neue Medien“ und „eLearning“ verknüpft. Durch den Einsatz Neuer Medien in der Bildung, so hofft man, sollen Studierende schneller, effizienter und besser studieren können als bisher (BMBF 2000, Schulmeister 2001). Mit dem Begriff „eLearning“ ist vor allem die Vorstellung virtueller Lehreinheiten verknüpft1. Studierende sollen in Online-Kursen mit geringem Präsenzanteil unabhängiger und flexibler lernen können, Lehrende und Tutoren sollen dank Chat oder Email dennoch – und sogar besser – erreichbar sein als in herkömmlichen Lehrveranstaltungen. Durch die mediale Aufbereitung von Lehrmaterialien, die online zur Verfügung gestellt werden, erhofft man sich einen Mehrwert gegenüber traditionellen Lehrmaterialien und -methoden.

Fordon blir mer och mer komplexa och idag sker stora delar av service och felsökning via fordonens CAN-bus. Till felsökningen behövs hårdvara som kan kommunicera med ett fordons styrenheter och med en dator. Det krävs även mjukvara som kan hantera informationen. På Scania CV utvecklas felsökningsguider som hanterar informationen. Scania upplever att deras nuvarande sätt att skapa felsökningsguider inte är optimalt. Den nuvarande lösningen är strikt baserad på ett XML-schema som styr vad en felsökningsguide kan eller får innehålla. Det kan också ta lång tid att få till en ändring i XML-schemat. Det är även svårt att få en överblick över felsökningsguiden och det tar lång tid att förhandsgranska och testa guidens villkor. Den här rapporten beskriver examensarbetet som undersöker om, och i så fall hur, felsökningsguider kan skapas utan dessa problem, med hjälp av WF (Windows Workflow Foundation). En kravspecifikation med de vitalaste funktionerna från dagens lösning skapades. Kravspecifikationen användes som bas när grunden till ett nytt ramverk implementerades. Ramverket består av ett grafiskt användargränssnitt i form av ett Windows Forms-projekt, ett WF-projekt innehållande en tillståndsmaskin samt en dll-fil som representerar klasserna Guide och Step samt färdiga kontroller. Med ramverket blev det möjligt att skapa felsökningsguider på ett flexiblare sätt jämfört med nuvarande lösning.<br>Vehicles are becoming more and more complex and today large parts of the service and troubleshooting takes place via the vehicle’s CAN bus. For troubleshooting vehicles, hardware is needed that can communicate with a vehicle’s control units and a PC. It also requires software that can manage the information. Scania CV develops troubleshooting wizards that can handle this information. Scania feels that their current way to create troubleshooting wizards is not optimal. The current solution is based strictly on an XML scheme that governs what a troubleshooting wizard may contain. It can take a big amount of time to make changes in the XML scheme. It is also difficult to get an overview of the troubleshooting wizard and it takes time to preview and test the wizard’s conditions. This report describes the thesis that investigates whether, and if so, how troubleshooting wizards can be created without these problems using WF (Windows Workflow Foundation). A requirement specification containing the most vital features of the current solution was created. The requirement specification was used as the base for the implementation of the foundation of a new framework. The framework consists of a graphical user interface in form of a Windows Forms project, a WF project containing a state machine and a dll-file that represents the classes Guide and Step and created controls. The framework made it possible to create troubleshooting wizards in a more flexible way compared to the current solution.

Detta är en uppsats som tar sig an, på ett semantiskt sätt, ordet Gud och människors syn på vad ordet Gud har för betydelse. Genom att göra en idéanalys av Jonna Bornemarks analys av Nicolas Cusanus för att se om detta kan vara en väg för att ge en mera mångfasetterad bild och värde av ordet Gud och gudsbilden till den scientistiska människan i Sverige. Uppsatsen tar avstamp i att försöka visa på de nycklar Cusanus filosofi ger genom Jonna Bornemarks tolkning av Cusanus i Det omätbaras renässans.<br>Nicholas Cusanus levde mellan åren 1401 och 1464. Cusanus var astronom, matematiker, teolog och filosof. En verklig renässansmänniska. Cusanus var en man som var på gränsen mellan skolastiken på medeltiden och renässansens mera kosmopolitiska livshållning som tiden gav. Cusanus var starkt influerad av den mystiken som bland annat Mäster Eckhart stod bakom. Den mystika negativa teologin som talade om att det är enklare att beskriva vad den kristna Gud inte är, än att berätta vad som Gud är. Cusanus studerade både Aristoteles och den Plotinos nyplatonska filosofin. Denna filosof kom jag kontakt med genom Cusanus lilla bok Gudsseendet med stort innehåll, vilket han skrev som en guide till munkarna i Tegernsee. Den behandlar den sinnliga bilden och de begrepp som gör att man kan se det som kan finnas bakom den ikoniska bilden. Den ikoniska bilden uppfattar Cusanus vara det djup som en bild kan vara bärare av. Det symboliska värdet på den bild som väcker åskådarens reflektion och reaktion. Den ikoniska bilden är bärare av detta djup som kan vara en utlösande av det personliga symboliska värdet för den specifika bilden. I Gudseendet är det en ikon som Cusanus kallar för ”Guds ikon”. Cusanus öppnade dörrar för mig i hur man kan tänka om att inte ser med de fysiska sinnena, utan måste använda sitt inre öga för att kunna se det som är större än det jag bara kan med de fysiska sinnena erfara. Startpunkten till denna uppsats är att kanske kunna förstå hur människan kan komma närmare det som inte sinnligt kan erfaras, den kunskapen menar Cusanus behöver människan för att vara en hel människa. Bornemark tar Cusanus filosofi till dagens samhällsproblem med att samhället alltid vill mäta allting. Studiens inriktning är att försöka svara på de frågor som uppsatsen ställer inför Bornemarks tolkning av Cusanus filosofi.<br><p>På grund av corona utfördes framläggningen online.</p>

<p>Syfte: Vårt syfte med vår uppsats är att undersöka hur män inom ett kvinnodominerat yrke upplever och tolkar sin situation samt hur de eventuellt påverkar eller kan påverka den struktur som redan existerar. Det yrke vi valt att studera är vårdbiträde och undersköterskor inom äldreomsorgen.</p><p>Problemformulering: Frågeställningen som uppsatsen bygger på är uppdelad i tre frågor: Vad är orsaken till att männen är få till antalet inom äldrevården?</p><p>Hur påverkas genusstrukturerna och de existerande normerna inom yrket när männen gör sitt intåg?</p><p>Hur upplever männen sin situation inom yrket och vad känner de att de tillför gruppen kvinnor som är verksamma där?</p><p>Metod: En kvalitativ studie baserad på elva djupintervjuer med manliga undersköterskor och vårdbiträde inom äldreomsorgen. </p><p>Slutsatser: Manliga undersköterskor är medvetna om att man gör ett val som inte är normen och får ofta försvara sitt val. Sin syn på yrket undersköterska innan man börjar bygger på okunskap och förutfattade meningar, som även omgivningen har när de placerar yrket i ett genusfack. Genom handlingar och beteenden påpekar man brister eller tillgångar hos det ena könet som möjliggör att se de skillnader som finns. Genom att gruppen som helhet blir bättre med introduceringen av fler män så pekar man även på de tillgångar som tidigare saknats när det bara var kvinnor i arbetsgruppen. Tre saker som vi har fått fram som gör att få män arbetar är den låga lönen, att yrket har låg status i samhället och att det är traditionella kvinnosysslor som gör att man inte väljer att gå in i vård yrket. Angående den låga status och lön som finns för yrket kan det återknytas till könsdiskriminering där hegemoniska maskuliniteter rangordnar yrken och ger dem en placering i hierarkin. Traditionella sysslor som görs i hemmet ses som kvinnliga och får således en lägre lön och status.</p>

Uppsalas studentnationer grundades på 1600-talet och har sedan dess blivit en central del i Uppsalasstudentliv. I föreliggande studie undersöks Uppsala studentnationers roll i främjandet avstudenternas välbefinnande och skapande av gemenskap mellan medlemmarna. Särskilt fokus istudien ligger på de så kallade sittningarna – middagar med mat, dryck, sång och tal. Sittningarna ären del av nationslivet som är särskilt viktig för produktion och reproduktion av gemensammasymboler inom ramen för de ritualer som äger rum på sittningarna. En historisk bakgrund ochbeskrivning av studentnationerna idag tjänar som bakgrundsavsnitt för att visa hur nationernakommit att bli som de är idag och förklara framväxten av den sittningskultur som idag råder pånationerna. När studentnationerna studeras görs det vanligtvis med ett organisationsteoretisktperspektiv. Här görs en ansats att förklara nationerna ur andra teoretiska perspektiv då detorganisationsteoretiska begränsar möjligheterna till att förstå nationerna som socialt fenomen.Utifrån ett symboliskt interaktionistiskt perspektiv används teorier kring interaktion, institution ochritual för att förklara var som händer på sittningarna. Material från en observationsstudie på ennationssittning, åtta intervjuer med nationsaktiva studenter samt nationernas sångböcker haranalyserats utifrån det teoretiska perspektivet. Analysen av materialet visar att ritualer påsittningarna är viktiga för att skapa välbefinnande och gemenskap, och där står sången ut somsärskilt central. När sittningsdeltagarna sjunger tillsammans går de in i en gemensam roll och bliraktörer snarare än observatörer. Analysen visar också att det inte är tillräckligt att betraktastudentnationerna som moderna organisationer. Istället är institutionsbegreppet centralt för attbeskriva de ständigt pågående processerna där nya medlemmar integreras i institutionen, hurmedlemmarna tillsammans utgör nationen och hur sittningarna – när ritualerna är förståeliga och harmening – bidrar till studenternas välbefinnande och utgör nationslivets själva kärna.

S'il est indéniable que de nos jours la traduction automatique (TA) facilite la communication entre langues, et plus encore depuis les récents progrès des systèmes de TA statistiques, ses résultats sont encore loin du niveau de qualité des traductions obtenues avec des traducteurs humains.Ce constat résulte en partie du mode de fonctionnement d'un système de TA statistique, très contraint sur la nature des modèles qu'il peut utiliser pour construire et évaluer de nombreuses hypothèses de traduction partielles avant de parvenir à une hypothèse de traduction complète. Il existe cependant des types de modèles, que nous qualifions de « complexes », qui sont appris à partir d'informations riches. Si un enjeu pour les développeurs de systèmes de TA consiste à les intégrer lors de la construction initiale des hypothèses de traduction, cela n'est pas toujours possible, car elles peuvent notamment nécessiter des hypothèses complètes ou impliquer un coût de calcul très important. En conséquence, de tels modèles complexes sont typiquement uniquement utilisés en TA pour effectuer le reclassement de listes de meilleures hypothèses complètes. Bien que ceci permette dans les faits de tirer profit d'une meilleure modélisation de certains aspects des traductions, cette approche reste par nature limitée : en effet, les listes d'hypothèses reclassées ne représentent qu'une infime partie de l'espace de recherche du décodeur, contiennent des hypothèses peu diversifiées, et ont été obtenues à l'aide de modèles dont la nature peut être très différente des modèles complexes utilisés en reclassement.Nous formulons donc l'hypothèse que de telles listes d'hypothèses de traduction sont mal adaptées afin de faire s'exprimer au mieux les modèles complexes utilisés. Les travaux que nous présentons dans cette thèse ont pour objectif de permettre une meilleure exploitation d'informations riches pour l'amélioration des traductions obtenues à l'aide de systèmes de TA statistique.Notre première contribution s'articule autour d'un système de réécriture guidé par des informations riches. Des réécritures successives, appliquées aux meilleures hypothèses de traduction obtenues avec un système de reclassement ayant accès aux mêmes informations riches, permettent à notre système d'améliorer la qualité de la traduction.L'originalité de notre seconde contribution consiste à faire une construction de listes d'hypothèses par passes multiples qui exploitent des informations dérivées de l'évaluation des hypothèses de traduction produites antérieurement à l'aide de notre ensemble d'informations riches. Notre système produit ainsi des listes d'hypothèses plus diversifiées et de meilleure qualité, qui s'avèrent donc plus intéressantes pour un reclassement fondé sur des informations riches. De surcroît, notre système de réécriture précédent permet d'améliorer les hypothèses produites par cette deuxième approche à passes multiples.Notre troisième contribution repose sur la simulation d'un type d'information idéalisé parfait qui permet de déterminer quelles parties d'une hypothèse de traduction sont correctes. Cette idéalisation nous permet d'apporter une indication de la meilleure performance atteignable avec les approches introduites précédemment si les informations riches disponibles décrivaient parfaitement ce qui constitue une bonne traduction. Cette approche est en outre présentée sous la forme d'une traduction interactive, baptisée « pré-post-édition », qui serait réduite à sa forme la plus simple : un système de TA statistique produit sa meilleure hypothèse de traduction, puis un humain apporte la connaissance des parties qui sont correctes, et cette information est exploitée au cours d'une nouvelle recherche pour identifier une meilleure traduction<br>Although communication between languages has without question been made easier thanks to Machine Translation (MT), especially given the recent advances in statistical MT systems, the quality of the translations produced by MT systems is still well below the translation quality that can be obtained through human translation. This gap is partly due to the way in which statistical MT systems operate; the types of models that can be used are limited because of the need to construct and evaluate a great number of partial hypotheses to produce a complete translation hypothesis. While more “complex” models learnt from richer information do exist, in practice, their integration into the system is not always possible, would necessitate a complete hypothesis to be computed or would be too computationally expensive. Such features are therefore typically used in a reranking step applied to the list of the best complete hypotheses produced by the MT system.Using these features in a reranking framework does often provide a better modelization of certain aspects of the translation. However, this approach is inherently limited: reranked hypothesis lists represent only a small portion of the decoder's search space, tend to contain hypotheses that vary little between each other and which were obtained with features that may be very different from the complex features to be used during reranking.In this work, we put forward the hypothesis that such translation hypothesis lists are poorly adapted for exploiting the full potential of complex features. The aim of this thesis is to establish new and better methods of exploiting such features to improve translations produced by statistical MT systems.Our first contribution is a rewriting system guided by complex features. Sequences of rewriting operations, applied to hypotheses obtained by a reranking framework that uses the same features, allow us to obtain a substantial improvement in translation quality.The originality of our second contribution lies in the construction of hypothesis lists with a multi-pass decoding that exploits information derived from the evaluation of previously translated hypotheses, using a set of complex features. Our system is therefore capable of producing more diverse hypothesis lists, which are globally of a better quality and which are better adapted to a reranking step with complex features. What is more, our forementioned rewriting system enables us to further improve the hypotheses produced with our multi-pass decoding approach.Our third contribution is based on the simulation of an ideal information type, designed to perfectly identify the correct fragments of a translation hypothesis. This perfect information gives us an indication of the best attainable performance with the systems described in our first two contributions, in the case where the complex features are able to modelize the translation perfectly. Through this approach, we also introduce a novel form of interactive translation, coined "pre-post-editing", under a very simplified form: a statistical MT system produces its best translation hypothesis, then a human indicates which fragments of the hypothesis are correct, and this new information is then used during a new decoding pass to find a new best translation

This study aims to examine intertextual patterns in Greek myths regarding relationships between 35 mortal women and four male gods; Apollo, Dionysos, Poseidon and Zeus, chosen due to their many relationships with mortal women. The material consists of ancient texts from 800 B.C. to 200 A.D. to get a diachronic perspective. Intertextuality as an analysis method is used to bring out similarities and differences between the stories and the characters. A gender perspective is applied to gender roles and what was expected from a man and a woman in Greek society and how the societal values are reflected in myth.                       The analysis addresses how women were presented before the relationship with the god, their treatment in the relationship, if the relationship resulted in a child and how the women’s life turned out after the god’s presence. The results show that there are visible intertextual patterns between myths regarding the relationships between mortal women and male gods. The myths reflect the ancient patriarchal society where women are given little attention, are passive and perceived as victims. The gods and men in these myths are viewed as active, brave, strong and as superior over the women. In contrast to the strong and brave men, the study has concluded that active women can be found, although rarely, but that they were punished for stepping over the natural boundaries of active men and passive women.

Abstract:
How people perceive life and death changes over time and space. The question of a peoples’ comprehension about life and all that comes with it is significant in understanding a long gone civilization. The purpose of this essay is to investigate the different ways which people in Homers Odyssey die, and whether these were considered “good” or “bad” according to the values and rules of the society of that time. Furthermore, I will examine if there are more or less acceptable reasons to kill someone. Both overarching aims will be attained by studying the Odyssey and analyzing all that has to do with death, perception of justice, the gods, and fate, to the extent of which this is possible. The epic poem, being one of few surviving literary works of the 8th century B.C. and possibly the oldest preserved Greek and European literary work, is a rare glimpse into the minds of a 3000-year-old people. The Odyssey will be explored using an empirical approach with my own opinions and values as a framework in order to better understand the concept of death in the ancient Greek world as Homer echoes it. The main source being used in my analysis is undoubtedly the Odyssey itself, since this contains all of the deaths and all of the conceptions of death that I wanted to access. Apart from the Odyssey I have also looked at the Iliad, to be able to illustrate similarities and differences between the two epics.                       Robert Garlands’ book The greek way of death as well as Death in the greek world by Maria Serena Mirto have given me a solid foundation concerning death overall in the ancient greek world. Garland writes about death as a process and examines the current evidence surrounding it, while Mirto, a bit more personally, analyzes the different stages of death and how people reacted to them. More centered information on the subject I have collected from Jasper Griffins’ Homer on life and death and Eric A. Havelocks’ The greek concept of justice. Griffin explores how life and death is depicted in the Homeric epics, and more closely the significance of death and the power of the gods. Havelock analyzes in his book the works of mainly three ancient writers (Homer, Hesiod and Plato) and the influence these have had over time on the development of justice in the minds of the ancient greek people.                       I came to the conclusion that there was indeed more or less “good” and “bad” ways to die, just as there was more or less “accepted” reasons to kill a man according to other men and the gods respectively, depending on the situation. People die in many diverse ways in the epic, each of which gives something to the discussion concerning how people perceived life and death in the age of Homer.

<p>Indien har överlag varit ett patriarkalt samhälle där männen har stått över kvinnorna. I gudavärlden inom hinduismen nämns många gudinnor. Råder ett lika patriarkalt förhållande i gudavärlden? Den här frågan har varit grunden för den här studien. Syftet med studien var att jämföra kvinnliga med manliga gudar genom att läsa om hur andra författare framställt dem. Utifrån detta syfte söker jag besvara tre specifika frågor: Vad har de olika gudarna för bakgrunder/myter? Om man ser lika mycket av kvinnliga gudar som manliga gudar i dagens Indien? <p>This essay is about how the aesir are used as an ideal image of the original Nordic aspects and as a symbol of heroism and pure strength. The main subject of this essay is to look at how this ideal of masculinity is represented in the art produced during the era of romantic nationalism. The choice of focusing on this era in particular is made due to the fact that it was during this time that the modern images of the aesir and the Vikings were made. The purpose of this study is to examine how the ideal of masculinity reflects upon the artistic interpretations of the Norse mythology in a selected group of art work produced during the 1800’s. Further more research is done in order to look for the possible political messages that could be connected to these works of art.</p><p>The writing of this essay has meant a search for facts in books concerning romantic nationalism, Norse mythology and interpretation of Norse mythology, and finally depiction of the Norse mythology in the romantic nationalistic art during the 19<sup>th</sup> century.  This work has been combined with analyses of a selected number of works of art produced during the 1800’s. Some limitations have been done in selecting this art, considering the year of completion and the motif. Due to these limitations, all of the selected works were made within the time of the 19<sup>th</sup> century and depict male gods of the Norse mythology.</p><p>Following conclusions can be made from this study: (1) that during periods of the 19<sup>th</sup> century the aesir were seen as strong warriors with a clearly Nordic origin; (2) this ideology was expressed in different ways in the art of the time and was later on also used by the racial ideological sciences.</p><br><p>Detta arbete handlar om användandet av asagudarna som en idealbild för urtypen av det nordiska och som en symbol för hjältemod och råstyrka. Undersökningen är inriktad på framställningen av detta mansideal i konsten från tiden för nationalromantiken. Valet av tidsperiod beror på att det var under nationalromantiken som den moderna bilden av vikingen och asagudarna skapades. Studiens syfte är att undersöka hur de konstnärliga tolkningarna av asamyten i valda verk speglar mansidealet under 1800-talet. Vidare undersöks de möjliga politiska budskapen i dessa verk.</p><p>Genomförandet har inneburit främst litteraturgranskning kring ämnena nationalromantik, nationalromantisk konst, asatro och tolkning av asatro, samt framställning av asatron inom den nationalromantiska konsten under 1800-talet. Detta har sedan kombinerats med en analys av utvalda nationalromantiska konstverk. Begränsningar som gjorts i urvalet rör verkens tillkomstperiod och motiv. Samtliga av de sex verk som valts är därför skapade inom 1800-talet och avbildar på varierande sätt främst manliga asagudar.</p><p>Studiens frågeställningar har varit följande; </p><ul><li>Hur framställs asatrons mytologi i de utvalda nationalromantiska konstverken?</li><li>Vilka drag i den nordiska mytologin och religionen framhävs inom de valda nationalromantiska konstverken; vad var det som lockade med denna mytologi och vilka teman är populärast?</li><li>Hur framställs det manliga i de valda verken? Stämmer den bilden med de historiska källornas bild av myten och vilka ideal presenteras i framställningarna?</li><li>Vilka politiska budskap förmedlas av konstnärerna i de valda verken?</li></ul><p>Samtliga av arbetets frågeställningar har varit möjliga att besvara. Resultatet av analyserna visar att konstverkens framställningar är mer beroende av idealen hos konstnären och rådande förhållanden under tillkomstperioden, än av de historiska källornas information. Påpekas bör dock att konstnärerna i viss mån har dragit nytta av källorna i sina framställningar. Detta syns i användandet av specifika attribut för de avbildade gudomarna. Asarna har i de utvalda konstverken framställts som ett ljust krigarfolk. Med två undantag innehåller alla valda verk avbildningar av vapen och samtliga målningar visar asarna som ljushyade. Mytologin i övrigt blir genom dessa detaljer framställd som mäktig och asarna blir således en sorts maktsymboler.</p><p>I två av de valda verkens motiv syns bl.a. scener tagna ur asamytologins berättelse om världens undergång. Ett tredje verk visar en av asarna i strid mot representanter för mörkrets makter. Tre verk visar asar tagna ur sina mytologiska kontexter. I tre av de valda verken syns åskguden Tor avbildad. Andra gudomar som är avbildade i mer än ett verk är Oden, Balder och Loke. Således är de populäraste motiven, med utgångspunkt från denna betraktelse, förknippade med dessa gudar. Vidare kan de avbildade händelserna ur mytologin kopplas till kampen mellan "ljus" och "mörker".</p><p>Manlighet framställs i de valda verken som förknippat med styrka, mod, stridsduglighet, reslighet och handlingskraft. Utöver detta syns även skäggväxt som ett tecken på manlig mognad. I analysen framkommer även en motsatsbild till detta ideal. Denna yttrar sig i avbildandet av fienden som vekt byggd, falsk och vild. Vad gäller hur framställningarna stämmer överrens med de historiska källorna, så innehåller de valda verken en del konstnärliga friheter. Bland dessa detaljer syns frånvaron av Odens enögdhet samt tydliga influenser av de klassiska avbildningar som tidigare gjorts av grekiska gudar. I överlag tycks dock hänsyn ha tagits till de framställningar som gjorts i de historiska källorna. Detta innebär att varje as eller asynja som framställts har gjorts så med koppling till attribut eller tydliga markeringar av rollen i det valda motivet.</p><p>Budskap som kan tolkas ligga i de valda verkens utföranden är av varierande art. Dessa budskap kan dock sammanfattas med ett framhävande av det nordiska folkets styrka och egenart. Vidare kan budskapen sägas göra en urskiljning av vilka folkslag som hör till de goda, respektive onda makterna, utifrån detaljer i utseendet.</p><p>Följande slutsatser kan dras utifrån denna studie: (1) att asarna periodvis under 1800-talet sågs som starka krigare med tydligt nordiskt ursprung; (2) denna ideologi kom att uttryckas på varierande sätt i konsten och kom även att användas av den rasideologiska vetenskapen.</p>
