Abstract Introduction: Guide flanges are essential in prosthodontics, particularly for patients with significant maxillofacial defects resulting from surgery, trauma, or congenital conditions. This case report presents the rehabilitation of a patient with a mandibular resection defect using a guide flange prosthesis. The patient, a 42-year-old male, underwent a partial mandibulectomy due to squamous cell carcinoma, resulting in a deviation of the mandible and significant functional impairments in mastication and speech. Patients who have undergone surgical hemi/segmental/subtotal mandibulectomy for various reasons with resulting mandibular deviation are given a guide flange. If secondary osseous grafting is planned, the doctor must wait for the graft, lesion, or radiotherapeutic effects to resolve. A definitive prosthesis can be planned only when the graft has been healed. During this time lag, the patient must be fitted with a prosthesis to rectify mandibular deviation caused by unilateral muscle strain. Furthermore, in some circumstances, a definitive prosthesis must be postponed due to bone grafting failur

Patients with mandibular deviation following surgical hemi/segmental/subtotal mandibulectomy for a variety of reasons (squamous cell carcinoma being the most common cause) are administered a guide flange. The physician must wait for the lesion to heal, the graft to heal, or the radiotherapy effects to subside before proceeding with planned procedures like secondary osseous grafting. A definitive prosthesis cannot be planned until the graft has healed. The patient has to receive a prosthesis during this period of time in order to correct mandibular deviation caused by a unilateral muscle pull.

Abstract:
The loss of continuity of the lower jaw following surgical excision of tumor results in deviation of remaining mandibular segment toward the resected side. Swallowing, speech, mastication, and mandibular movements are adversely affected by mandibular surgery. Prosthetic rehabilitation plays a major role in these patients, by fabricating the whole array of prostheses to meet specific patient needs. This case report describes about the patient diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of alveolus on the left side. The patient had undergone hemimandibulectomy followed by soft tissue reconstruction.

Abstract Introduction: Post-cancer ablative surgery often results in a gross imbalance in the anatomic structure, thereby impairing occlusion and other vital functions of life. The remaining mandible after surgery shifts to the medial and superior direction, causing impaired functions. "Guide flange prosthesis’ is an appliance, which is indicated in such a situation to reduce the clinical appearance. Case Presentation: This paper describes a case series of 3 cases, where patients with different clinical presentations were treated wi

Background and aim: When a mandibulectomy causes discontinuity, the patient will need a rehabilitative prosthesis to achieve a proper occlusal relationship. Technique: This article describes step-by-step guidelines for measuring the patient-specific mandibular guide flange angulation. In the presented technique, the flange angulation is determined by dividing the horizontal overlap of the maxillary posterior teeth plus the maxillary buccal clasp thickness by the vertical distance of the mandibular continuous clasp up to the maxillary buccal clasp. Discussion: The mandibular guiding flange pros
