Abstract:
The author presents a feature-guided convolution method for rendering a 3D triangular mesh. In Their work, they compute feature directions on the vertices of a mesh and generate noise on the faces of a mesh. After projecting the directions and noise into 2D image space, the author executes convolution to render the mesh. They used three feature directions: a principal direction, the tangent of an isocurve of view-dependent features, and the tangent of an isophote curve. By controlling the value of noise, the author can produce several non-photorealistic rendering effects such as pencil drawing

To provide with an effective method for non-photorealistic rendering for computer generated images with sketch artistic appearances from 2D images motivates our work in this paper. The character of lines, details in the source image can be smoothed by the technique of guided filter, and then the abstract smooth appearance of the image can be simulated. In addition, the smooth effect can be enlarged and enhanced by the technique of improved line integral convolution, so the final sketch artistic image can be obtained. Experimental results show that the proposed method can simulate the real sket

The process of creating nonphotorealistic rendering images and animations can be enjoyable if a useful method is involved. We use an evolutionary algorithm to generate painterly styles of images. Given an input image as the reference target, a cloud model-based evolutionary algorithm that will rerender the target image with nonphotorealistic effects is evolved. The resulting animations have an interesting characteristic in which the target slowly emerges from a set of strokes. A number of experiments are performed, as well as visual comparisons, quantitative comparisons, and user studies. The

Image-Based Rendering (IBR) has made impressive progress towards highly realistic, interactive 3D navigation for many scenes, including cityscapes. However, cars are ubiquitous in such scenes; multi-view stereo reconstruction provides proxy geometry for IBR, but has difficulty with shiny car bodies, and leaves holes in place of reflective, semi-transparent windows on cars. We present a new approach allowing free-viewpoint IBR of cars based on an approximate analytic reflection flow computation on curved windows. Our method has three components: a refinement step of reconstructed car geometry g

The potential for the use of computer graphics in medicine has been well established. An important emerging area is the provision of training tools for interventional radiology (IR) procedures. These are minimally invasive, targeted treatments performed using imaging for guidance. Training of the skills required in IR is an apprenticeship which still consists of close supervision using the model i) see one, ii) do one and iii) teach one. Simulations of guidewire and catheter insertion for IR are already commercially available. However, training of needle guidance using ultrasound (US), fluoros

Realistic visual and audio rendering still remains a technical challenge. Indeed, typical computers do not cope with the increasing complexity of today's virtual environments, both for audio and visuals, and the graphic design of such scenes require talented artists. In the first part of this thesis, we focus on audiovisual rendering algorithms for complex virtual environments which we improve using human perception of combined audio and visual cues. In particular, we developed a full perceptual audiovisual rendering engine integrating an efficient impact sounds rendering improved by using our

Direct volume rendering techniques for scalar fields make use of transfer functions to map optical properties to the field; the field can subsequently be visualized through the drawing of isosurfaces in the volume spanned by the field. The utility of this approach is limited in the case of nested or clustered structures with the same isovalue and further does not easily allow for quantitative measurements of the visualized data. This report explores the use of topological structures (contour trees and Morse-Smale complexes) as an augmentation of traditional direct volume rendering and describe

Research has shown that technical information is often not read by its target group. This can mean that users are unaware of crucial information included in a handbook or manual. Lack of information can cause, for example, inappropriate usage of products. Research has presented several source preference criteria that individuals define when they choose a preferred information source. My goal is to design technical information that derives from these criteria. The question to answer is: How can information for a computer-based rendering software be designed to derive from the situation and info

Abstract:
This chapter elucidates Hamka ideas regarding social justice in Muslim societies. He was immersed in upholding the Islamic conception of social justice above all others and achieved this through a few argumentative steps. The first is to deconstruct materialist and partial Islamic conceptions of social justice. Secondly, Hamka propounded his own unique rendering of Islamic conceptions of social justice as one that is guided by the practical concepts of khalifatul fil‘ard (vicegerents of God on earth), amanah (sacred trust), shura (mutual consultation) and maslahah (general welfare). Hamka’s intellectual third step is to foreground the various enablers that can facilitate the actualization of social justice.
