Pseudonaja textilis is a widespread and common snake in eastern parts of Australia, but its distribution in New Guinea is poorly understood, and the origin of the New Guinea populations and its timing have been the subject of much speculation. Phylogenetic analysis of mitochondrial DNA sequences from three New Guinea populations of P. textilis indicates that New Guinea was colonised from two independent eastern and western migration routes most likely in the Pleistocene. One dispersal event from northern Queensland led to the populations in eastern New Guinea (Milne Bay, Oro and Central Provin

This article revisits the cultural history of Guinea in the three decades following independence through focusing on the musical activity of Miriam Makeba, the exiled South African singer who resided in the country between the years 1968 and 1986. Recent scholarship has illuminated the vast investment of the Guinean state in developing modern national culture as part of the process of decolonisation as well as the limited freedom of expression, imposed by the state, that subjugated local cultural production. The Covid-19 global pandemic has been the greatest threat to the world’s economy as a whole since the Great Economic Depression of 1929. The Guinean economy, like other countries around the world, has not escaped the clutches of this coronavirus-19 health crisis since its appearance until its advent in Guinea in March 2020. The objective of this paper is to not only provide a general overview of the impact of this health crisis on the country's economy but also to examine restrictive measures put in place by the government to ease the health, human and socio-economic impact of the pandemic, th

The Liberian civil war was the major issue in US–Guinea relations between 1990 and 2003. During the first half of this period, the US sought with limited success to secure Guinea's cooperation in finding a diplomatic solution. President Conté viewed Charles Taylor as Guinea's implacable enemy and authorised arms support for anti-Taylor factions, while the US pressed for a negotiated peace. The Guinean leader's negative reaction to US criticism of the flawed 1993 presidential elections halted most dialogue on Liberia for the next two years. Abstract Traditional solution for oil and gas production equipment is the use of carbon steel (CS) due to its reduced cost, compared to more noble and corrosion resistant materials. To ensure the integrity of these equipment, the use of carbon steel needs to be accompanied by corrosion mitigation measures, like the use of Corrosion Inhibitors (CI). In the present context with more and more constraining environmental requirements and with the increase of water cut, the use of corrosion inhibitors become challenging. An optimized use of these chemicals is necessary to limit as much as possible,
