Abstract:
Heat waves and drought stress are typical aspects of current climate change, significantly affecting the grapevine physiology in many world growing areas. Biostimulants can play an important role in reducing the negative effects of climate change; that’s why this experiment was set up in order to test two new foliar biostimulants (protein hydrolysates of plant origin). The field experiment was carried out in 2017 and 2018 in Oltrepo pavese area (Lombardia region, northwest Italy, 270 m asl), on a six-year-old vineyard of V. vinifera L. cv. Merlot clone 181 grafted on Gravesac, Guyot trellis, 4

The crude methanolic extract, ethyl acetate and butanolic fractions, tannins, saponins and polysaccharides of the marine brown alga, Padina pavonica, growing on the Algerian Mediterranean Coast were measured for antioxidant activity, using total antioxidant capacity (TAC), reducing power and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assays. Total phenolic, flavonoid and proanthocyanidin contents were determined. The total phenolic, proanthocyanidin and flavonoid contents of methanolic extract were about of 2.007 ± 0.104 mg GAE/g DM, 4.611 ± 0.346 mg CE/g DM and 1.132 ± 0.091 mg C

We present our electrochemistry results of CdSe quantum dots in two organic solvents: neat methanol and acetonitrile. In MeOH, the quantum dots (QDs) can be detected through stochastic collisions; that is, as agglomerates of QDs collide with an electrode surface, the photocurrent changes as a result of the CdSe entities that collide with the electrode surface.1 The experiment presented here uses Pt ultramicroelectrodes (UME), that is, electrodes with a diameter of 25 μm or less. Our results show that the CdSe can accumulate on the surface of the electrode, and the technique provides a high deg

Abstract Background: Cancer metastasis to the brain is a common complication of advanced disease with limited therapeutic options. Inefficient treatment is influenced, in part, by the unique composition of the brain microenvironment. Brain metastases (BrM) grow in two distinct patterns, either as minimally invasive (MI) masses with well-defined borders, or as tumors with highly invasive (HI) growth into surrounding brain tissue. HI BrM are associated with poor prognoses compared to MI BrM; however, differences in the tumor immune microenvironments (TIME) between these two lesion types remain l

ABSTRACT Antibiotic resistance among pathogens causing urinary tract infection (UTI) is increasing at an alarming rate. E.coli is found to be the most prevalent among the common bacterial uropathogens isolated. The present study was undertaken to evaluate current antibiotic resistance pattern among the multi drug resistant strains of Escherichia coli isolated from positive UTI samples. 342 clean catch midstream urine samples were collected and processed using standard methods on Blood agar, Mac-Conkey agar and EMB agar.
