Abstract:

Magister Artium - MA Ethiopian ethnic groups exhibit highly autochthonous cultural norms and values that are embedded in their traditional beliefs, systems, and religions. This study shows how, at the grassroots level, the Gurage ethnic group in Ethiopia, uses culturally legitimate forms of conflict resolution practices to mobilize and reinforce gender hierarchies, and how the discourses of culture, custom, tradition, social stability and cohesion are connected to gendered power relations. The study provides an analysis of how discourses of culture in African contexts influence, and become a compelling framework for both men and women to define themselves in institutions of marriage, and in related practices of conflict resolution and mediation.Drawing on a rich body of Southern African theory and analysis and by deploying it in relation to marriage in the Ethiopian context, the research shows that customary practices of conflict resolution have been one of the central Ethiopian definitions of authentic culture. Ethiopia, unlike the rest of Africa, reveals many complexities in exploring popular mechanisms and institutions that are very convincingly ''pre-colonial''. At present, these are manifested through cynicism towards western culture, reluctance to readily embrace it, and an accentuated sense of national pride shaped through the struggle against hovering ethnocentricism, imperialism and neo-imperialism. The research explores the dynamics of power that influence married couples' decisions about where and how they should resolve their martial disputes, and in selecting between the formal justice system and customary mediating mechanism. First-hand information was gathered from women and customary leaders, via participatory methodologies, and the data served as input to explain why and how discourses of culture are being mobilized so powerfully to reinforce gender hierarchies in Ethiopia. The research findings evidently show how ''culture'' is ''made real'' and authentic for Ethiopians, particularly for members of the Gurage ethnic group, through the dealings of popular cultural practices: the resolution of marital conflicts. I argue that marital conflict resolution in Gurage is an elaborate practice that validates patriarchal agenda, overseen by male elders, to regulate problems within individual marriages. The research problematised the recognition of ''customary practice'' in the Constitution as alternative systems by presenting the limited rights Gurage women have as opposed to the ''freedom of choice'' that is granted in the Constitution. The case reveals the difficulty of having two laws that have different understanding of human rights.

Abstract:

In this study, farm forestry decision criteria were elicited by adopting a behavioral decision-making study approach from households in ten Peasant Associations of the study district. Major decision objectives, available alternatives, constraints, and the likelihood of the chance events were elicited through a questionnaire survey, participatory observation, detailed discussion, and review of archival information. It was found that farmers generally, plant various tree and shrub species for meeting various household needs and for generating cash incomes. The goal of cash generation is for sustenance of livelihoods through fulfillment of various basic obligations and overcoming unforeseen contingencies. The three most economically important tree/shrub species were eucalypts, coffee, and t?chat. Eucalypt wood covers nearly all the construction needs and constitutes a substantial part of the fuelwood consumptions. Coffee and t?chat are vital sources of cash income and makeup an important part of daily diets. Growing of eucalypts for cash income is mainly constrained by lack of access road, low farm gate prices, high competition with food crops for soil nutrients and moisture, and shortage of land and labor. The household uses and cash values of coffee are generally, undermined by high incidence of berry disease and lack of manure. Financial benefits of t?chat are weakened by high local tax rates. The logistic regression analysis confirms that agro-ecological zone, sex of household head, number of eucalypt trees owned, and age of household head represent important explanatory variables that explain farmers readiness to expand eucalypt woodlots. The model so constructed correctly predicted 84.1 % of the households that established additional eucalypt woodlots mainly for cash generation. The total number of eucalypt trees owned by households is significantly related to the attitude of the household head towards eucalypts, wealth status, and landholding size of the household. Financial viability of eucalypt woodlots was assessed through both methods of conventional economic calculations and Chayanovian calculations. Both methods confirmed the highly lucrative markets of eucalypt poles as compared to agricultural crop production. This is mainly because of lack of access to more profitable production techniques and low productivity of agricultural crops per unit area. Otherwise, farm gate prices of eucalypt poles are far from being attractive and outperforming that of agricultural crops.

Abstract:

The gap between CGRAs and ASIC designs is a major issue for all digital designers. The main objective of the following thesis is developing a method to customize the design according to the application to increase performance and decrease the area of the chip. although there are commercial high level synthesis tools which are able to synthesis an algorithmic level description of an application to ASIC, how ever they are not able to generate recon gurable hardware operating as multi-mode ASIC. In this project a tool has been developed which sweeps the design space between the fully recon gurable CGRA hardware template and ASIC. this tool generates a customized hardware based on the implemented applications and user speci cations by eliminating unused/unwanted components of the design. FFT and CP algorithms are used in this research in order to have some solid results for area and power consumption of the customized design. The results shows up to 44 percent reduction in area of a fabric containing both CP and 2048 points FFT and 20 percent reduction in power consumption for 2048 Point FFT on the very same fabric. Developing this approach on CGRAs can enable designers to have their ASIC designs just by implementing an algorithm on the fabric and then receive a customized fabric close to ASIC with some small automatic steps.

No momento que ocorria um movimento paredista entre professores da rede estadual de ensino e o poder público, o relato da professora alcançou vários espaços a partir de um vídeo postado no Youtube. Com interesse de compreender o espalhamento de notícias, a pesquisa objetiva-se também entender de que maneira a identidade da personagem foi enquadrada no universo midiático. A proposta visa ao mesmo tempo identificar a representatividade da professora como fenômeno comunicacional, buscando embasamento nas discussões sobre acontecimento do filósofo francês Louis Quéré e da pesquisadora brasileira Vera Regina Veiga França; das proposições sobre os circuitos comunicacionais do pesquisador José Luiz Braga; nas teorias de representação e enquadramento de Erving Goffman e de identidade de Stuart Hall. The present research seeks the understanding of communication circuits in the production of meaning from an event involving the image of Amanda Gurgel, teacher of a public school of Rio Grande do Norte. The teacher starred a communication event through a narrative at a public hearing happened in the Legislative Assembly of the RN on May 10th, 2011. At the time, it happened a striker movement among teachers of state schools and the government. The teacher's report reached several media spaces started from a video posted on Youtube as a live interview of the teacher on the news RNTV 1st Edition on May 19th of that year, broadcast by InterTV Cabugi, an affiliate of the Globo Television Network. She has also participated for 25 minutes live on “Domingão do Faustão” a Globo Television program broadcasted on 22nd May of that year. With interest to understand the circulation of news around this event, the research aims to check how the image of Amanda Gurgel was framed by local television news and also on entertainment programs with national coverage. The proposal aims to identify the representativeness of the teacher in communication circuits, seeking theoretical basis in discussions about events of the French philosopher Louis Quéré and Brazilian researcher Vera Regina Veiga France, the propositions on the communication circuits of the researcher José Luiz Braga, theories representation and framing of Canadian anthropologist and sociologist Erving Goffman, in studies of image from professor Adilson Citelli, and the contribution of Henry Jenkins and Clifford Geertz discussions.

Os paradigmas emergentes, tais como a grade de frequências flexível métodos so sticados de chaveamento óptico e desfragmentação espectral, atribuem propriedades adaptativas para redes futuras, permitindo seu auto-ajuste às condições de transmissão e tráfego variáveis. De fato, as estatísticas de tráfego agregado em pontos de troca de tráfego da Internet exibem fortes flutuações ao decorrer do dia, sendo o valor médio em torno de 70%, e valor míniimo em torno de 20% do valor pico. No entanto, os sistemas ópticos atuais operam o seu lado linha na taxa nominal, o que leva a um elevado consumo de potência, desperdício de recursos espectrais, e saturação prematura de redes. No intuito de suportar as características de redes extáveis pela camada física, os transceptores ópticos de próxima geração devem ser capazes de ajustar suas taxas de transmissão e ocupação espectral de acordo com as demandas de tráfego variáveis. No entanto, um chaveamento convencional de taxa de transmissão requer interrupção de serviço, altamente indeseável na perspectiva das operadoras. Neste escopo, as principais contribuições dessa tese são dois métodos de chaveamento online sem impacto (hitless) da taxa de transmissão, que permitem reduzir o consumo de potência associado ao processamento digital de sinais durante períodos de baixo tráfego. O primeiro método foi desenvolvido para transceptores, cujos moduladores são alimentados por sinais binários combinados eletronicamente, e atende, principalmente, a cenários de alocação estática de banda. Aqui, a redução de taxa é realizada por meio de repetição de símbolos transmitidos, e o bloco equalizador convencional do receptor é substituído por uma estrutura multi-ramo, em que cada ramo da estrutura opera em uma taxa específica. A perda de sincronização durante chaveamento é evitada utilizando a saída do ramo ativo como sequência de treinamento para o ramo destino. O método pode, adicionalmente, atender à alocação dinâmica de banda, contanto que exista um mecanismo de cooperação entre transceptores ópticos e multiplexadores de inserção -extração ópticos reconfiguráveis. Neste caso, o ajuste espectral do sinal pode ser obtido por meio de uma filtragem óptica pelas chaves seletoras de frequência que suportam operação em grade flexível. O segundo método foi desenvolvido para transceptores com módulos de processamento digital de sinais no lado transmissor. O chaveamento de taxa é obtido por meio de aumento e redução de número de amostras por símbolo transmitido, mantendo a taxa de conversão digital-analógica. Neste caso, uma mudança de taxa de símbolo implica, também, em um ajuste correspondente da banda do sinal. Assim, o método pode suportar propriedades de alocação dinâmica de banda das redes elásticas. Nós demonstramos que, se o chaveamento de taxa e banda do sinal e realizado em passos intermediários suficientemente pequenos, o equalizador dinâmico do lado receptor consegue acompanhar as mudanças do sinal, mantendo a sincronização do sistema. O primeiro método foi validado em um arranjo experimental com transmissão a 100 Gb/s de um sinal modulado por chaveamento de fase e quadratura multiplexado em polarização, e processamento digital de sinais o ine. Ademais, realizamos simulações computacionais extensas, incluindo formatos de modulação por chaveamento de fase e quadratura e modulação de amplitude em quadratura de ordem 16, e investigamos o desempenho do método para sinais não-retorna-a-zero e retorna-a-zero, gerados no domínio óptico, e sinais Nyquist, gerados digitalmente. Os transientes de erros, que aparecem durante chaveamento para taxas mais altas, são evitados usando sequências de treinamento do equalizador su cientemente longas (acima de 40.000 símbolos). O método mostrou-se robusto contra a dispersão dos modos de polarização e ruído de fase dentro de especicacões aceitáveis. A principal vantagem deste método é que ele permite reduzir o consumo de potência associado ao processamento digital de sinais para compensação da dispersão cromática. Os resultados mostraram que uma redução pela metade da taxa de símbolos produz uma redução de em torno de 55% na complexidade computacional, devido à elevada duração de símbolo e aprimoramento da qualidade de sinal. Uma redução adicional de taxa para um quarto da taxa nominal permite desligar o equalizador da dispersão cromática, exceto em caso de pulsos Nyquist, em que o ganho em complexidade está em torno de 80%. O segundo método também foi validado em um arranjo experimental com transmissão a 100 Gb/s de um sinal modulado por chaveamento de fase e quadratura multiplexado em polarização e processamento digital de sinais o ine, utilizando um conjunto para desenvolvimento do conversor analógico-digital. Ao contrário da proposta anterior, este m etodo suporta alta granularidade com apenas um aumento marginal de complexidade computacional. Os resultados experimentais de redução e aumento de taxa em dez passos discretos não apresentaram transientes de erros, garantindo transmissão ininterrupta. O método pode ser usado para reduzir o consumo de potência devido à redução de vazão de dados após a interpolação do lado receptor. Adicionalmente, o consumo pode ser altamente reduzido em sistemas que suportam múlltiplos esquemas de correção de erros, aproveitando o aprimoramento da qualidade do sinal devido à redução de taxa de símbolos. Assim, um código corretor de erros complexo do tipo soft-decision, usado na taxa de transmissão nominal, pode ser substituído por um código do tipo hard-decision, com complexidade computacional reduzida. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT Much of the latest research in optical communications is directed towards increasing network e ciency, optimizing bandwidth usage and reducing power consumption. Emerging paradigms, such as exible frequency grid, sophisticated optical switching methods and spectral defragmentation, attribute adaptive properties to future networks, enabling them to adjust to the changing transmission and tra c conditions. To support these features, next-generation optical transponders must be capable of adjusting their transmission rate and bandwidth occupation according to the time-varying tra c demands. However, conventional rate-switching requires service interruption, which is highly undesirable from the operators' standpoint. Our contributions in the proposed thesis consist of two methods for hitless online rate switching that allow to reduce power consumption, associated with digital signal processing, during low tra c periods. The rst method is designed for transponders with binary-signal-driven transmit-side modulators, and targets primarily static bandwidth allocation scenarios. Here, rate reduction is achieved by symbol repetition, and a conventional receive-side equalizer block is replaced by a multi-branch structure, where each branch operates at a speci c transmission rate. Synchronization loss is avoided by using the output of the active branch as a training sequence for the target-rate branch. The method can also support dynamic bandwidth allocation, provided there is a cooperation mechanism between the optical transponders and the recon gurable add-drop multiplexers. Here, signal spectral adjustment can be obtained via optical ltering by ex-grid-enabled wavelength-selective switching. The second method targets transponders with transmit-side digital signal processing. Rate changing is achieved by increasing/reducing the number of samples per transmitted symbol, while maintaining a xed digital-to-analog conversion rate. Changing the symbol rate also implies in corresponding signal bandwidth adjustment, so that the method can support dynamic bandwidth allocation features of the next-generations elastic optical networks. We show that if the rate and bandwidth switching is performed in su ciently small discrete intermediate steps, the receive-side dynamic equalizer successfully tracks signal changes, maintaining system synchronism.

Abstract:

Dynamically Recon gurable Resource Array (DRRA) is a coarse-grained recon gurable architecture (CGRA) platform for multiple, complete radio and multimedia applications, which emphasise on digital signal processing. It is designed at Department of Electronics Systems of KTH. DRRA de- ploys pools of small, simple and agile resources for computation, storage and interconnect and create runtime partitions customised to the needs of applications. In this thesis project, we implemented a correlation module (named \Corre- lation Pool") for WCDMA code generation and scrambling, in DRRA platform. The technical speci cations are based on 3GPP standard [2]. This thesis report covers detailed description of DRRA platform, the design and implementation of \Correlation Pool", as well as the veri cation of the system. In the end, the synthesis and simulation results are summarised and analysed. This project achieved the speci cations and met the requirements, proving the capability of the platform.

Este presente trabalho tem por objetivo deter-se sobre a trajetória do ator Edgard Gurgel Aranha (1937-1990) a partir da produção teatral brasileira feita durante a Ditadura Militar nas cidades do Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo. Aluno da Escola de Arte Dramática da USP, o ator viveu de perto o engajamento político de alguns setores da intelectualidade e da classe artística brasileiras, atuando em espetáculos como O Rei da Vela e Navalha na Carne ao lado de nomes importantes como Jairo Arco e Flexa e José Celso Martinez Corrêa. Portador do vírus HIV, Edgard faleceu após uma intensa batalha na Justiça para que sua seguradora de saúde cobrisse os gastos com seu tratamento contra a AIDS, abrindo precedentes para os direitos dos pacientes no Brasil. Sob a ótica dos estudos de gênero e sexualidade, pretende-se reconstruir dimensões de sua experiência social que elucidem, ao mesmo tempo, a inter-relação entre política e cultura e as possibilidades de transformação social por meio da prática teatral. Nesse sentido, entender a conexão entre corpo, sexualidade e AIDS é crucial para entender a trajetória de Edgard. This work aims to focus on the trajectory of the actor Edgard Gurgel Aranha (1937-1990) from the Brazilian theatrical production made during the Military Dictatorship in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. A student of the School of Dramatic Art at USP, the actor lived close to the political engagement of some sectors of Brazilian intellectual and artistic class, performing in shows such as O Rei da Vela and Navalha na Carne alongside important names like Jairo Arco and Flexa and José Celso Martinez Corrêa. A carrier of the HIV virus, Edgard died after an intense battle in court for his health insurance to cover the costs on his AIDS treatment, setting precedents for patients\' rights in Brazil. From the point of view of gender and sexuality studies, it is intended to reconstruct the dimensions of their social experience that elucidate, at the same time, the interrelationship between politics and culture and the possibilities of social transformation through theatrical practice. In this sense, understanding the connection between body, sexuality and AIDS is crucial to understanding Edgard\'s trajectory.

Nesta dissertação discuto a Festa do Coco e a prática do coco de roda, realizadas todo último sábado de cada mês pelas comunidades quilombolas Ipiranga e Gurugi, pertencentes ao município paraibano do Conde. Tive como objetivo evidenciar as transformações ocorridas na Festa do Coco e na brincadeira de coco de roda durante o período de visitas, entre julho de 2013 e maio de 2016, a partir da análise dos acontecimentos registrados nos diários de campo escritos por mim. No decorrer das primeiras visitas realizadas, levantei a hipótese de que a Festa do Coco não é um espaço de reprodução de uma prática realizada no passado, mas um espaço de produção de acontecimentos e de criação de outras formas de negociação entre os corpos participantes. Uma das perguntas que mais me interessavam era entender o que fazia com que diferentes pessoas, moradoras do quilombo ou não, vindas de diferentes locais da Paraíba e do Brasil, desejassem estar na festa, mesmo esta acontecendo em um barracão pequeno, dentro da comunidade quilombola Ipiranga, e sem nenhum apelo midiático sobre o evento. Os procedimentos de pesquisa delinearam-se no processo de realização da mesma: assumi, para o trabalho de campo, uma participação observante, por meio da qual pude ser mais uma brincante da festa e me deixar ser levada pelas suas linhas de força, seus fluxos. A cada festa eu escrevia diários de campo, focando-me nas experiências vividas e percebidas durante a festa. Minhas apostas teóricas se deram nos registros das filosofias da diferença, e em especial no registro deleuziano-guattariano, e da Antropologia da Performance, que discutem as práticas coletivas num registro do acontecimento, da performance e da criação. Esta dissertação traz então o conceito deleuziano de acontecimento como um dos conceitos chave para entender as transformações ocorridas nas festas e o interesse dos visitantes que procuram a festa: produzir acontecimentos. O participante da festa deseja estabelecer agenciamentos, formas de se conectar, de se relacionar com outros corpos e gerar novidade, criar. Dentre esses agenciamentos, a corponegociação se dá como um dos mais significativos. O conceito, criado por mim para esta pesquisa, surge através da brincadeira realizada no centro da roda de coco, onde o corpo negocia e cria sem o uso da produção verbal; o improviso é gerado pela contaminação dos diferentes repertórios de movimentos In this dissertation I discuss the Festa do Coco and the practice known as the Coco de Roda, held every last Saturday of each month by the quilombola communities of Ipiranga and Gurugi, belonging to the municipality of Conde in the Brazilian state of Paraiba. I aimed to focus on the transformations that took place in the Festa do Coco and the Coco de Roda during visits between 2013 july and 2016 may. The experiences where recorded in the field diaries I wrote whilst visiting and analyzed on return to São Paulo in the wake of each party. During the first visits, I developed the hypothesis that the Festa do Coco is not the staging of a traditional or historical practice, but a space which allows for the creation of events and the production of alternate forms of negotiation amongst participating bodies. One of the issues that intrigued me most was what drew different people, people within or without the quilombola community, coming from different parts of Paraíba and Brazil, to the Festa do Coco: a party which took place in a small shed, inside the quilombola community of Ipiranga, without any mediatic appeal or visibility. In the process, I assumed a methodology which would allow me to be part of the party, to be taken by the forces at play in each celebration. After each party, I worked on the field diaries, focusing on the experiences and impressions derived from the celebration. My theoretical bets inscribed within the Philosophies of Differences, theorized by Deleuze and Guattari in special, and Performance Anthropology, which discuss collective practices in terms of event, performance and creation. This dissertation thus takes the Deleuzian idea of event as one of the key concepts to understand the transformations occurring at the Festa do Coco and the interest of visitors who seek to experience it and partake in the production of an event. The party participant wants to establish agencies, connections, to relate to other bodies and generate newness. Among these assemblages, bodily-negotiation is most significant. This concept, coined by myself for this research, refers to the events that take place at the epicenter of the Roda do Coco, in the middle of the ring formed by the other players, where the body negotiates and creates without the use of verbal production and different repertories of movements contaminate each other

In this sense, as a contribution to the studies of quality of worklife (QOWL), this study addresses the quality of lifework of nurses at Walfredo Gurgel and Santa Catarina public hospitals. The goal is to make a diagnosis about the quality of lifework of these employees taking as a basis dimensions and performance indicators shown in the model by Fernandes (1996). The research is characterized by field, in a descriptive way. This survey comprised 75 nurses, with 49 by Walfredo Gurgel hospital and 26 by Santa Catarina one. The data collection was carried out through structured questionnaire. The questions were processed in the software Statistic 6.0, with factor analysis and multiple regressions, after the systematization of data. As a result, the most nurses in hospitals are dissatisfied with the quality of lifework, with the highest incidence in Santa Catarina hospital. The variable occupational health assessment was more negative in the hospital Santa Catarina one, whereas in Walfredo Gurgel, was family assistance. The variable guarantee of employment was more positive assessment in two hospitals without, though, implying in high importance on QOWL of nurses. The factor structure and decision showed greater sensitivity to explain the QOWL of nurses, joining 17 variables from 40 of the model. The factor working conditions, joining 6 variables, showed the second highest sensitivity. The compensation factor, gathering 5 variables, showed the third highest sensitivity while image and health factors showed minor importance A fundamenta??o te?rica do presente estudo aborda o constructo Qualidade de Vida no Trabalho, envolvendo leitura pr?-ativa das organiza??es frente ? evolu??o social da classe trabalhadora, o que constitui um desafio ? gest?o de pessoas. Neste sentido, como contribui??o para os estudos de qualidade de vida no trabalho (QVT), o presente estudo aborda a qualidade de vida no trabalho de enfermeiros lotados nos hospitais p?blicos Walfredo Gurgel e Santa Catarina. O objetivo ? elaborar um diagn?stico acerca da qualidade de vida no trabalho desses servidores tomando como base dimens?es e indicadores de desempenho retratados no modelo de Fernandes (1996). A pesquisa ? caracterizada de campo, com car?ter descritivo. O universo pesquisado foi de 75 enfermeiros, sendo 49 do Walfredo Gurgel e 26 do Santa Catarina. A coleta de dados foi realizada atrav?s de question?rio estruturado. Os fatores estrutura e decis?o mostraram maior sensibilidade para explicar a QVT dos enfermeiros, aglutinando 17 vari?veis das 40 do modelo. O fator condi??es de trabalho, aglutinando 6 vari?veis, mostrou segunda maior sensibilidade. Os fatores compensa??o, imagem e sa?de demonstraram import?ncia, por?m, com menor intensidade. O aumento da atividade turística e os benefícios que a mesma pode trazer para as pessoas envolvidas nas localidades que possuem atrativos turísticos têm suscitado uma nova reflexão sobre o processo de desenvolvimento local e regional que o turismo produz, pela sua capacidade de gerar renda e divisas para as regiões. Baseada no pressuposto de que o turismo cultural é um agente de desenvolvimento, esta pesquisa foi realizada no município de São Miguel das Missões, no estado do Rio Grande do Sul, município onde reside uma comunidade de índios Guarani Mbya e que possui como atrativo turístico às Ruínas Jesuíticas de São Miguel das Missões, visando conhecer a trajetória de 1988 a 2003 desta comunidade e os benefícios que a mesma possa ter tido em decorrência da atividade turística local. Após a pesquisa percebi que os Guarani consideram a posse das terras e a permanência na reserva do Inhacapetum como uma forma de desenvolvimento e concluí que o turismo agiu no local como um efeito indireto para a posse das terras. Embora o discurso dos planos de turismo do estado enfatizem os resultados sociais, na prática isso não se confirmou, pois foram pessoas do município as principais responsáveis pelos benefícios alcançados pela comunidade Guarani. Based on the belief that cultural tourism is an agent of development this research took place in the city of São Miguel das Missões, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, city where a community of Guarani Mbya Indians live and which has as touristics attraction the Jesuitic Ruins of São Miguel das Missões, having in view the period from 1988 to 2003 and the benefits that were reached due to the local touristc activity. After the research it was clear to me that the Guarani consider the possession of the earth and the permanence in the Inhacapetum reserve as a way of effectivation of this possession. No matter the speech related to plans of tourism in the State, emphasizing the social results, I can asseru this wasn t confirmed because the people who live in this region were the main responsible for the benefits reached by the whole Guarani community.

Le personnage historique chez Gurgi Zaydan (1861-1914) est un personnage "recomposé" à partir des données de l'historiographie arabe classique et selon des enjeux à la fois esthétiques et idéologiques. En tant que personnage de la Riwaya (adaptation arabe du roman européen), le personnage historique participe de deux esthétiques : l'une, exogène, l'Adab, à laquelle Zaydan emprunte sa conception de l'exemplarité - en particulier dans son élaboration des portraits ; l'autre, exogène, le roman européen, dont il s'inspire dans sa description de l'intériorité des personnages et dans son approche physiognomiste de ces derniers. Œuvre littéraire et projet de société, le roman historique de Zaydan fait du personnage historique le support d'un projet réformiste à visée totalisante dont le double objectif est de poser les termes d'une nouvelle sociabilité et les fondements d'un sentiment d'unité nationale à base non confessionnelle. L'étude du personnage historique dans les romans de Zaydan pose aussi la question du rôle de la litttérature dans l'écriture de l'histoire, comme espace de l'expression d'un point de vue particulier sur l'histoire : celui des minoritaires, des vaincus, etc The study of the historical figure in the work of Gurgi Zaydan (1861-1914) poses a question that is both aesthetic and ideological, as a character in the Riwaya (an Arabic adaptation of the European novel), the historical figure is elaborated by means of two aesthetics : one endogenous, the Adab, from which Zaydan took his conception of the paragon and especially in his portraits ; the other exogenous, the European novel, from which the author took took his inspiration in the describing the interior life of his characters. The research is exploratory and descriptive, qualitative approach. Data were collected through document analysis and the interviews with the managers of the Program in Health Department and Hospital beyond the questionnaires with the home care teams and technical management unit of Hospital Jobs. The information were treatment trough categories that analyzed to implemented actions and program objectives. The results show that: the practices carried out by the host teams produce the humanization of care by seeking to ensure access to health services and solving human form; networks of health care are not yet finalized hindering the referral of patients to other units, the networks allow support from other institutions to minimize the problems encountered, the management unit vacancies allows the reduction of costs, mainly by regulating beds and record of health initiatives in home care assists in the monitoring and evaluation process of the Services Home Care / Programa Melhor em Casa primarily the epidemiological profile and patients individual treatment plan. Concludes that most of the actions implemented by the Hospital contribute to the effectiveness of the goals of Programa Melhor em Casa Esta disserta??o busca compreender como as a??es gerenciais implementadas pelo Hospital Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel no munic?pio do Natal promovem de forma eficaz os benef?cios do Servi?o de Aten??o Domiciliar/ Programa Melhor em Casa. Die Ergebnisse des vierjährigen Forschungsprojektes zeigen, dass Gurken im Gewächshaus auf Substrat am »Hohen Draht« mit 200 bis 220 Gurken/m² deutlich höhere Erträge als die Standardverfahren erzielen. Pflege und Arbeitszeitaufwand sind allerdings eindeutig höher. Der Anbau von Gurken am »Hohen Draht« führte dennoch zu einer Verbesserung der Deckungsbeiträge um fast ein Drittel. Die Investitionskosten für die Umstellung von 1 ha Standardverfahren auf den Gurkenanbau am »Hohen Draht« betragen 70.000 bis 80.000 Euro. Bei steigenden Energiekosten ist das Verfahren am »Hohen Draht« eine wirtschaftliche Alternative zu den gegenwärtigen Standardverfahren. Allerdings mangelt es an guten Spezialsorten. Problematisch ist das Risiko von Ertragsausfällen durch Stängelbotrytis.

The various public institutions have assumed the function of responding to a growing demand for medical care and hospital. Monsenhor Hospital Walfredo Gurgel - H.M.W.G. fits into this context as an institution par excellence-oriented service the demand for medium and high complexity. This paper presents some questions about the process of decentralization and devolution occurred in Brazil. To do so is a brief historical background and politics, showing the concepts of reform and counter-reform and how the processes mentioned in the Country Correlates develop local social development of the decentralization process and discusses the modifications in policies social intervention in recent decades and the state health policies. Presents the implementation of a Health System in Brazil and the state showing how the decentralization of health policy occurs in Rio Grande do Norte. Finally, it explores the role of H.M.W.G. in health policy in RN. For this, portrays the institution and is located within the decentralized structure of health policy in the state and capital. An analysis of the demand for hospital care and the budget situation is realized at the close of work, correlating the role of HMWG with the decentralization of health policy in Brazil and Rio Grande do Norte. The methodology used for the preparation of this work was based on documentary research, systematic nonparticipant observation, field diary and analysis of data, documents and content. Trots en markant ökning av vaktpersonal i privat regi under de senaste decennierna finns det inte mycket empirisk forskning om allmänhetens uppfattning av väktare. I detta arbete undersöks malmöbornas tillit till och tillfredställelse med väktare och syftet med studien är att får en inblick i allmänhetens inställning till vaktpersonal. Enkäter delades ut i Malmö med frågor angående upplevd tillit till väktare, tillfredställelse med väktare samt frågor om respondenternas uppfattning av väktares professionalitet, ansvarskyldighet, framställning och artighet. Urvalet bestod av 78 respondenter och resultaten tyder på att den allmänna uppfattningen av vaktpersonal är mer positiv än negativ. Upplevd professionalitet hos väktare påverkade tillit till väktare och upplevd artighet hos väktare påverkade tillfredställelse med väktare. Hur man upplevt väktares beteende vid personlig kontakt visade sig påverka uppfattningen av både tillit till och tillfredställelse med vaktpersonal. Studier om allmänhetens uppfattning av vaktpersonal kan användas i utbildande syfte för vaktbolag för att påverka väktares beteende och agerande mot allmänheten. Ökad kännedom av allmänhetens inställning till vaktpersonal är även relevant för politiker i deras ställningstagande av framtida reglering av den privata säkerhetsindustrin. Despite the rapid increase in private security guards in recent decades, little is known about citizens’ perception of security guards. In this paper citizens’ trust and satisfaction with security guards is assessed. The aim of the study is to get an insight into citizens’ perception of private security guards in Malmö. Paper and pencil surveys were distributed in Malmö with questions regarding perceived trust and satisfaction with security guards and about security guards’ professionalism, accountability, imagery, and civility. The sample consisted of 78 respondents and the findings suggest that the overall perception of security guards was more positive than negative, however, the results were largely mixed. Perceived professionalism predicted satisfaction with security guards and perceived civility predicted trust in security guards. Also, security guard behavior while interacting with the public was a strong predictor of both trust and satisfaction with security personnel. Results from this study and similar studies can be used by private security organizations to educate staff in order to improve the public perception of security guards. It may also be useful for policy makers in order to make more educated decisions about future regulation of the private security industry.

Buildings got deteriorated, others were built. Much of the population who lived there abandoned their apartments, bringing poorer people moving in. New residents were attracted over the last few years. Green and empty areas that opened visual perspectives to important landscapes of the city were blocked. Sao Paulo received its first zoning in 1972, a new one in 2004 and the last -‐ recently approved -‐ in March 2016. This thesis will examine the changing of the urban landscape which the region has passed through in the last 45 years after the construction of this elevated highway, comparing the patrimony built (the conservation state of important old buildings and the construction of dozens of new developments in the recent housing boom), the urban design (streets, squares, subway implementation, bus and bike lanes), social modifications (resident population, regular visitors and activists) and the administrative and legal changes (planning legislation and administrative discontinuity). In order to show a more relevant comparison, it will shortly show the 45 years prior to the construction of Minhocão, as well as a brief history of the streets and their constructions. Rua Amaral Gurgel, Avenida São João, Praça Marechal Deodoro e Avenida General Olímpio da Silveira: sobre essas vias e áreas verdes foi construído, em 1970, o Elevado Costa e Silva, popularmente conhecido como “Minhocão” – via elevada que provocou uma profunda mudança na paisagem urbana dessas ruas e seus arredores. Edifícios se degradaram, edifícios foram construídos, grande parte da população, que ali vivia, abandonou seus apartamentos, substituídos por uma população mais pobre. Novos moradores foram atraídos nos últimos anos. Áreas verdes e vazios que abriam perspectivas visuais para paisagens importantes da cidade foram bloqueados. São Paulo recebeu seu primeiro zoneamento em 1972, um novo em 2004 e o último – aprovado recentemente – em março de 2016. Esta dissertação analisará a mutação da paisagem urbana pela qual passou essa região nos últimos 45 anos, após a construção do elevado, comparando o patrimônio construído (o estado de conservação de edifícios antigos importantes e a construção de dezenas de novos empreendimentos no recente boom imobiliário), o desenho urbano (ruas, praças, implantação do metrô, corredor de ônibus, ciclovias etc.), as transformações sociais (população moradora, frequentadores e ativistas) e as mudanças administrativo-‐legais (legislação urbanística e descontinuidade administrativa). Para que este comparativo seja mais relevante, também mostrará, resumidamente, os 45 anos anteriores à construção do Minhocão, assim como um breve histórico das ruas e suas construções.

An reconﬁgurable architecture possess some goals, among these the increase of performance. The use of reconﬁgurable architectures to increase the performance of systems is a well known technology, specially because of the possibility of implementing certain slow algorithms in the current processors directly in hardware. Amongst the various segments that use reconﬁgurable architectures the reconﬁgurable processors deserve a special mention. These processors combine the functions of a microprocessor with a reconﬁgurable logic and can be adapted after the development process. Reconﬁgurable Instruction Set Processors (RISP) are a subgroup of the reconﬁgurable processors, that have as goal the reconﬁguration of the instruction set of the processor, involving issues such formats, operands and operations of the instructions. This work possess as main objective the development of a RISP processor, combining the techniques of conﬁguration of the set of executed instructions of the processor during the development, and reconﬁguration of itself in execution time. The project and implementation in VHDL of this RISP processor has as intention to prove the applicability and the efﬁciency of two concepts: to use more than one set of ﬁxed instructions, with only one set active in a given time, and the possibility to create and combine new instructions, in a way that the processor pass to recognize and use them in real time as if these existed in the ﬁxed set of instruction. The creation and combination of instructions is made through a reconﬁguration unit, incorporated to the processor. This unit allows the user to send custom instructions to the processor, so that later he can use them as if they were ﬁxed instructions of the processor. In this work can also be found simulations of applications involving ﬁxed and custom instructions and results of the comparisons between these applications in relation to the consumption of power and the time of execution, which conﬁrm the attainment of the goals for which the processor was developed A Computa??o Reconﬁgur?vel ? uma solu??o intermedi?ria na resolu??o de problemas complexos, possibilitando combinar a velocidade do hardware com a ﬂexibilidade do software. Abstract:

Inclusive education has increased in popularity over the last two decades. Inclusiveclassrooms consist of children from diverse backgrounds and with variousimpairments, with special educational needs. Children with special educationalneeds in vision require assistive tools to access visual information. Topics thatmake strong use of such information, e.g. geometry, can therefore be challengingfor children with visual impairments or blindness (VIB) as well as their teachers.Assistive tools like video magniers and physical objects in the shape ofgeometric gures are used to aid VIB in learning basic geometry. Researchershave investigated tools and applications to aid VIB in learning geometry byusing haptic or auditory feedback as well as combinations of these. However,the tools are often not created with considering the classroom environment. Tounderstand the situation and challenges of these two stakeholders (VIBs andtheir teachers) better, a preliminary questionnaire was conducted. Five participantsof each of the two groups lled out the questionnaires. A concept for anAndroid tablet application to convey pre-existing geometric shapes and theirannotations to VIB, using sound feedback and sonication was created andpartly developed in two incremental implementation phases. The shapes arerecreated on the tablet using elements like circles and paths and then enhancedwith sound feedback to guide VIB to the various elements. With an iterativedesign, the two prototype increments were evaluated. The rst evaluation wasan usability study. Using seven blindfolded, young adult participants, feedbackwas gathered on dierent combinations between sound, tactile, and vibrationfeedback, as well as the general usability of the application for an validation ofthe approach. Each participants was presented the dierent approaches in anotherorder. For each approach, they were asked to explore three basic geometricshapes and then, without blindfold, draw these shapes. The time for applicationinteraction was measured and overall observation notes were taken. After eachapproach a short questionnaire was given to the participant. Another longerquestionnaire was conducted after all approaches were tested. It was foundthat sound feedback alone is not sucient in precisely conveying the geometricshapes to the users. However, combined with tactile objects to mark positionsof vertices on the screen the result improved signicantly and this approach wasfavored by the participants. The usability of the application is good but hasroom for improvement. A study was conducted with two teachers as expertslater on with the second prototype version. Two teachers with several yearsof experience teaching geometry to VIB in inclusive settings were interviewedconcerning the expected usability of the application for VIB and in the classroom,as well as general challenges and possibilities of including the applicationinto geometry lectures. As the teachers were located in Germany, they weresent a video demonstrating the application. One interview was conducted overemail while the other was conducted over Skype. The only challenges identiedare the media anity of teachers and the reliability of technology. VIB are notexpected to face challenges in utilizing the application and teachers could havemore freedom in the geometric shapes they present to their class.
