Full textIn the last decades the sun exposition, specially recreative or intermitent, has led to a tremendous increase in skin cancer. Photo-aging also affects young people who have exposed to the sun or artificial UV sources without protection (Camacho, 2001). For that reason, the Occidental Countries have made a millonair inversion in research studies on substancies to avoid or delay the photo-aging effects. During the last years, the esential oils have aroused great interest because of their antioxidant capacity, which could affect on photodamage mecanism, avoiding the free radycals formation and enhancing the cutaneous inmune subsystem (Siegel, 2012). II. OBJETIVES General Objective The main objective of this thesis was to compare three extracts from silkworm: fibroin, sericin and silk hidrolyzate in order to know their “in vitro” effects: a) Cytotoxic (viability and celular proliferation) on celular lines: Vero, TRAMP-C1 and HaCaT. b) Genotoxic and genoprotective on total human blood. c) Celular migration and protecction against ultravioleta B radiaton on celular line HaCaT. Specific Objectives 1º. To evaluate the cocoon of silkworm efectts: fibroin, sericin and silk hidrolyzate upon proliferation and citotoxicity of celular lines: TRAMP-C1 y HaCaT. 2º. To study the genotoxic and genoprotective silkworm extracts over total human blood. 3º. To identify the activity of silkworm extracts upon celular migration in HaCaT line. 4º. To analyze, in HaCaT line, the silkworm extracts protective effects against ultraviolet B radiation. III. RESULTS Neither fibroin or silk hydrolyzate were citotoxic upon Vero celular line trial, while sericine caused a significant disminution celular dose-response, moderately citotoxic. Fibroin was not citotoxic until 0,1%, after that concentration it showed a light dose-dependent citotoxic effect statistically significant. Sericine was more citotoxic over Vero celular line. This effect was more evident with lower concentrations (0.05 y 0.1), with sooner IC 50 on 0.22% at 24h and 0.16% at 48h. The negative dose-response effect over the cultive was estatistically significant from 0,05%. The silk hydrolyzate showed a better response respect these cells viability, with values closer or higher to 100% (control) in all the studied concentrations within 24 and 48 hours. So the silk hydrolyzate does not affect this celular line’s viability. The TRAMP-C1 cells showed celular viability values within 24 and 48 hours closer to control (near 100%) so no one of the extracts: fibroin, sericin and silk hydrolyzate showed anticancer action over TRAMP-C1 celular line in studied concentrations. In the GENOTOXICITY trial, did not exist statistically significant differences in the number of MN/500 CB in the samples treated with the three agents respect to the control. In the GENOPROTECTION trial, a disminution of MN/500 CB was observed when treatments (fibroin, sericin and silk hidrolyzate) were administrated previously to the irradiation although no one showed a statistically significant disminution respect the irradiated control. So there seems to be a protection against X radiation. As regard the CELULAR MIGRATION, the sylk hydrolyzate did not show statistically significant differences in studied concentrations (0.01 y 0.1 %) related with migration of celular line HaCaT. The PHOTOPROTECTION study showed significant results (p < 0.001) for the silk hydrolyzate and fibroin, with an important cellular viability increase within 24 y 48 hours caused by the hydrolyzate 0.001, 0.01, 0.05 and 0.1 concentrations and the ultraviolet minimun intensity radiation (0.08 J/cm2). Silk hydrolyzate should be considered as a photoprotective agent with a high clinic relevance, due to its activity in very low doses.

Abstract: The objective of this work was based on the analysis of the legislation, with a view to apprehending whether the capital represented by the sugarcane agribusiness is complying with the existing regulations regarding the practice of aerial spraying of pesticides. Civil Inquiry No. 30/2009 (MPSP) that gave rise to Public Civil Actions at the Pirapozinho and Mirante do Paranapanema/SP served as a reference for us to collect data, information and similar documents, which record the damage occurring mainly by producers of the silkworm and honey culture, in view of the intense expansion process of the sugarcane monoculture that is territorialized in the vicinity of the food crops carried out by the peasants, as well as urban centers. These damages were a consequence of the technical drift surmounted in the non-compliance with the norms related to aeroagricultural operational safety, such as relative humidity, temperature and wind speed, and also the non-observance of the safety zones (buffer zones) during the application of pesticides. Not to mention the routine findings of overflights under homes, schools, people, crops, animals, etc. In view of the constitutional environmental principles of Precaution and Prevention, we concluded the work by calling for the approval of a rule that aims at the summary ban on the practice of aerial spraying of pesticides, with national coverage.

Full textThe skin is the largest organ of the body and may, in addition to chronological aging, suffer some disease called photoaging. It is characterized by a large aging of the skin and above all, what is more dangerous, photocarcinogenesis or presentation of skin cancers . Since antiquity, men became aware of the importance of the sun in our life, but also of its undesirable effects. At present, a lot of companies of developed countries invest a large amount of money in researching, looking for substances that prevent or delay the effects of aging, not only for beauty, but also by the great economic cost of health care. In recent years, essential oils have received great attention due to its antioxidant capacity, which may interfere with the mechanisms of photoaging, preventing the formation of free radicals and boosting the skin 's immune subsystem. Furthermore, to the methodological difficulties of the slow evolution of tumors, ethical constraints on development of experimental models in humans are added . Therefore, the first objective of our work was to establish a model of cutaneous photoaging in SKH -1 mice by chronic exposure to Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR). The second objetive of our study was to evaluate the properties of two oils, sweet almond and chrysalis of silkworm, as possible photoprotective . For the study, we used 60 mice SKH1/CRL, that received ultraviolet radiation, 60 minutes per session, three times per week, for a total of 80 sessions , with 1,688 J/cm2 of total energy absorbed by each animal. The mice were divided into three groups. The first (control) received only UVR and the other two were treated topically prior to irradiation, with sweet almond oil (Group II ) and oil of silkworm chrysalis (Group III). All animals exposed to UVR showed the characteristic alterations of cutaneous photoaging and photocarcinogenesis, so consider this experimental model as ideal for the study of this disease, since chronic exposure to radiation caused the entire spectrum of lesions characteristic of photoaging, if the exposure was prolonged (65 to 80 sessions), besides being an easily reproducible and not expensive model . However, in our study we observed significant differences between animals treated with oil of chrysalis silkworm (Group III) compared to the other two groups. In Group III, mice observed a delay in the presentation of skin lesions (6-9 weeks), with respect to the other groups, and there were three animals without tumor lesions at the end of the experiment. In addition, the mean area of lesions was lower in group III (59.14 %) than in the control group (40.86 % reduction), the group treated with sweet almond oil only reduced the area by 10 %. This suggests the photoprotective properties of oil of silkworm chrysalis, probably due to the action containing sericin, which is a potent antioxidant. This delay in the presentation of neoplastic lesions and their smaller area was confirmed by immunohistochemical study, regarding metalloproteinase 9 ( MMP -9) and TIMP inhibitors.

In this work we propose to reflect on the material means of cultural production, among other aspects of the social process of cultural production, that enabled a group of young Brazilian architects, coordinated by Lucio Costa and with the consultancy of Le Corbusier, to plan and construct a ministerial building in accordance with the principles of modern European architecture inspired by Corbusier as they existed in the 1930s. Based on a historiography of architecture oriented toward the technical and aesthetic aspects of architectural debate during those years, we intend to historicize this stimulating debate in both its architectural and political dimensions at a moment in which the government was proposing a project for the (re)construction of the Brazilian nation-state. To reconstruct the political-architectural drama that unfolded during the selection process for the headquarters building of the Ministry of Education and Public Health (MESP) between March 1935 and April 1937, we have reconstituted not only the political and professional careers of the various actors in the mid-1930s but also the relations among them and the political and intellectual events that had taken place in Brazil since the preceding decade. Our analysis of the competition to select the project for MESP, as well its subsequent developments, emerges from a reflection on what was revolutionary, modern and Brazilian about a government that styled itself revolutionary, even after the promulgation of a new constitutional document in 1934. Lucio Costa and Gustavo Capanema, the architect and the visionary minister, did not act alone, but were the active proponents of a scheme that involved politicians and intellectuals both Brazilian and foreign. These years, called the heroic years, were years of intense debate between Art and Politics in Brazil. From this perspective, the process of selecting a project for MESP represent an exceptional moment not only for purpooses of reevaluating the landmarks of modern architecture in Brazil but also in order to reflect on the policies of the constitutional government of President Getulio Vargas, and more specifically on the political and intellectual maneuverings that made possible the coup of November 10, 1937, which gave birth to the Estado Novo
