Abstract:
The article provides a review of modern models of large-scale mantle convection in the zone of a heavy cold oceanic plate (slab) subduction into the upper mantle. The formal approximation of the upper mantle for the present case is an incompressible Newtonian fluid with variable viscosity. It is assumed that the plate subduction is preceded by the stage of regime formation for thermo-gravitational convection in the mantle, which is caused by temperature and buoyancy of the lightweight hot substance. Important in this situation is the problem of quantitative formal modeling of phase transitions

Jahrhunderts:– Verzweigungsgesetze des elektrischen Stromes in zusammengesetzten Leitungssystemen (Knotenpunkt‐ und Maschensatz), 1845– Theorie der dünnen, elastischen Platte, 1850– Theorie des dünnen, elastischen Stabs mit großen Deformationen, 1859– Begründung der Spektroskopie mit Robert W. Abstract Spectroscopy has held a pivotal role in advancing our comprehension of chemistry, dating back to its inception by Robert Bunsen and Gustav Kirchhoff. Nonetheless, access to advanced spectrometers remains restricted, particularly in high schools within developing nations. In this laboratory experiment, students were guided to fashion a spectrometer using reusable materials. This uncomplicated contrivance facilitated the exploration of emission and absorption spectroscopy, acquainting students with atomic spectra marked by electronic transitions, yielding line spectra. Conversely, molec

AbstractSpectroscopy is a scientific topic at the interface between Chemistry and Physics, which is taught at high school level in relation with its fundamental applications in Analytical Chemistry. In the first part of the paper, the topic of spectroscopy is analyzed having in mind the well-known Johnstone’s triangle of chemistry education, putting in evidence the way spectroscopy is usually taught at the three levels of chemical knowledge: macroscopic/phenomenological, sub-microscopic/molecular and symbolic ones. Among these three levels, following Johnstone’s recommendations the macroscopic

Tesla's time in Europe All you wanted to know about Nikola Tesla, but you were afraid to ask. Eight decades ago, Nikola Tesla quietly passed away in New York, supposedly only with his spiritual pigeon friends at his deathbed. Or there were aliens around?   Nikola Tesla was educated in Karlovac by the banks of lower Kolpa (Kupa) River valley just downstream from my ancestors of upper Kolpa (Kupa) River valley. The same river, the same way of thinking although Tesla’s part of Kolpa (Kupa) River was and still is somewhat bigger after so many inflows. The magic river almost three hu
