Abstract:
The Journey to the East is Hermann Hesse’s most deeply personal book. This enigmatic novel, with its deceptively simple narrative structure, lends itself well to multiple interpretations. To date, however, little attention has been paid by educationists to the book. This paper attempts to address this lacuna in the literature, beginning with an examination of the autobiographical and dream-like qualities of the novel. This is followed by a detailed analysis of the ritual of confession undertaken by H.H., the narrator and central figure in the book. H.H. lives in despair following the apparent

Abstract:
The HKH Snow Update 2025 highlights a significant decline in seasonal snow across the Hindu Kush Himalaya region, with snow persistence 23.6% below normal — the lowest in 23 years. This trend, now in its third consecutive year, threatens water security for nearly two billion people. All twelve major river basins, including the Indus, Ganges, and Brahmaputra, experienced below-average snow cover, with the Mekong and Salween basins losing over 50%. The report warns of potential lower river flows, increased groundwater reliance, and heightened drought risk, urging improved water management, stron

Abstract:
Despite its significant renewable energy (RE) potential, the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region remains trapped in very low level of RE uptake. While extant literature exploring the drivers and constraints of RE adoption follow two distinct strands of analysis pertaining to the demand and supply side factors, efforts to integrate both sides into a holistic framework for RE adoption are both new and rare. This technical note proposes a multidimensional approach of developing such a framework for identifying and leveraging RE opportunities specific to the HKH context.

Abstract:
The Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region is highly susceptible to the influence of monsoon, a periodic wind system, especially in the Indian Ocean and southern Asia. The summer monsoon, between June and September, is the major source of precipitation in the region with significant impacts on the hydrology of its rivers, which form the lifeline of nearly two billion people in the region. While a good monsoon is essential for replenishing these river systems, malevolence of water-related disasters such as floods, landslides, storms, heat waves, wildfires, droughts, glacial lake outburst floods (GLOF

Abstract:
The Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region faces water disasters due to fragile rock formations, steep slopes, and seasonal heavy rains. These vulnerabilities are worsened by inadequate risk communication. Climate change exacerbates extreme weather events, underscoring the need for enhanced flood warning systems. To address these challenges, ICIMOD, BYU, and NASA developed the Streamflow Prediction Tool (SPT). The SPT produces a 10-day ensemble streamflow forecast. The forecast ensemble contains 51 members corresponding to each member of the runoff ensemble with three-hour temporal resolution and on
