Carbon and low alloy steels are the most commonly used construction materials for oil and gas pipelines. In order to improve their performance, various types of coatings are frequently applied on them. Electroless nickel composite coatings containing nano-particles are widely used on steel substrates. In this paper, CO 2 corrosion of X70 carbon steel coated with Ni - P and Ni - P -nano SiO 2 in 3%Wt NaC1 electrolyte, saturated with CO 2 at 85°C and pH 6.5 in 1bar CO 2 pressure for 72 h, was investigated and the results were compared against each other. With lockdowns consequent to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, most people were confined to their homes, along with their children and many of the vulnerable elderly. The spill-over effect of the pandemic brought about rampant changes in the lives of all, with working from home being a major one. This study was done to find the perspective and experiences of the Indian workforce after two years of working from home, with many still pursuing the same format. Also, it was intended to assess the personal factors contributing to one’s willingness to continue to work from home post-pandemic. T

One of the major differences between sodium- and lithium-ion batteries (SIBs and LIBs) is how the ions electrochemically react with graphite, where large amounts of lithium can be stored in the graphite galleries, but sodium cannot form thermodynamically stable, high capacity binary graphite intercalation compounds (b-GICs).[1] In 2014, however, it was discovered that graphite had a much greater capacity to reversibly store sodium-ions than previously thought – but only when using ether based electrolytes.[2] The increased storage capabilities in ether based electrolytes comes about by the for

We present a global potential energy surface (PES) for the 2 A state of the O (3 P ) + C 3 H 3 radical reaction. The global PES is constructed mainly using direct ab initio molecular dynamics and further sampling is done using the Diffusion Monte Carlo method. The potential is fully invariant with respect to permutational symmetry of like atoms. Special techniques, based on invariant theory of finite groups, have been used to develop basis functions for fitting that display this symmetry. The resultant potential energy surface shows multiple reaction paths with six different product channels.

In this study, we used effective and one-pot Heck coupling reactions under moderate reaction conditions to construct two new hybrid porous polymers (named OVS-P-TPA and OVS-P-F HPPs) with high yield, based on silsesquioxane cage nanoparticles through the reaction of octavinylsilsesquioxane (OVS) with different brominated pyrene (P-Br4), triphenylamine (TPA-Br3), and fluorene (F-Br2) as co-monomer units. The successful syntheses of both OVS-HPPs were tested using various instruments, such as X-ray photoelectron (XPS), solid-state 13C NMR, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analy

Polymeric nanomaterials made from amphiphilic block copolymers are increasingly used in the treatment of tumor tissues. In this work, we firstly synthesized the amphiphilic block copolymer PBnMA-b-P(BAPMA-co-PEGMA) via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization using benzyl methacrylate (BnMA), poly (ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA), and 3-((tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino)propyl methacrylate (BAPMA) as the monomers. Subsequently, PBnMA-b-P(APMA-co-PEGMA)@NIR 800 with photothermal conversion property was obtained by deprotection of the tert-butoxycarbony

Metallic copper has been attracted attention as efficient catalyst for electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR). However, the activity of the catalyst with a single adsorption site is limited by the imbalance of the intermediate binding energy, so-called “scaling relationship”. [1] Therefore, it is crucial to break the scaling relationship between reaction intermediates in order to increase product selectivity and lower overpotential. One of the candidates to overcome this scaling relationship is metal sulfide. According to the computational study, since sulfur atoms work as an adsorptio

As a molecular architect working on an atomic construction site you need to be able to build up the carbon skeleton of your project, not merely decorate it with foreign atoms. There are dozens of different ways of doing that, and in this and the next section I shall introduce you to just two of them to give you a taste of what is available. A secondary point is that throughout chemistry you will find reactions denoted by proper nouns, recognizing the chemists who have invented or developed them. One example is that of the ‘Wittig reaction’, which is named after the German chemist Georg Wittig
