Abstract:
Hadiths play a pivotal role in shaping norms and laws for the Muslim community in Islam, but they often give rise to controversies and differences in interpretation and application. This article aims to explore the phenomenon of Ikhtilaf Al-Hadith, which refers to the divergence in the understanding of Hadiths among Islamic scholars and its methods of resolution. Employing a literature analysis method, the author references pertinent sources for this study. The findings reveal that Ikhtilaf Al-Hadith can emerge due to various factors, including the content of the Hadith, the context of its delivery, methodology, and ideology. Resolution approaches include compromise, tarjih (selecting the stronger Hadith), or nasakh (abrogation of one Hadith in favor of another). Hence, a meticulous understanding and methodological approach are essential to maintain consistency in comprehending and applying Hadiths in Islam. Compromise, tarjih, and nasakh serve as methods for resolving discrepancies between Hadiths, and contextual and historical understanding is crucial in interpreting apparently contradictory Hadiths.

Abstract:
Discourse on Islam and hadith seems to always attract the attention of many people, both Muslims and non-Muslims. It is proven until now, studies of hadith both concerning the criticism of its authenticity, as well as the methodology of its understanding continue to grow. The hadith of the Prophet, or often referred to the Sunnah of the Prophet, does not only attract the attention of Muslims and Muslim scientists to study and understand more about it. A number of Western scholars (non-Muslims) are also seen to have serious concerns on this issue. They are studying many of the Prophet's hadiths, especially regarding its authenticity. They have long been interested in Islamic studies, hadiths and writing texts of hadith, they focus on the main (text) of the hadith material, and the sanad (narrator of hadith), this approach they call the study of analysis of sanad (isnad-analytical study).

The methodology that is offered by Fatima Mernissi in studying hadith is double investigation with psycho-history as her approach. There are two steps in her method, that are historical aspect and methodology aspect. The first step is analyzing situation and condition that happen when hadith released and then, analyzing about the first transmitter, when, why and to whom that hadith is released.

Abstract:
The authenticity of the hadith is not the same as the authenticity of the al-Qur’an, where the al-Qur’an itself has received justification directly from Allah Ta'ala. In contrast to the hadith which requires quite a lot of research to see how the quality of the hadith is from both the sanad and the matan. There have been many hadith scientists who have tried to organize various methods of maintaining the existence of the hadith itself. Among the many scientists, al-Albani is one of them who has devoted himself to studying the applicable concepts in the study of hadith science. As a person who loves hadiths, al-Albani does not just accept the hadiths he reads even though these hadiths have been researched beforehand. It was this caution that made al-Albani develop his own method, although it cannot be denied that the method used by al-Albani was not much different from the methods of previous scholars.

Abstract:
Incorporating hadith into the interpretation of the Quran is essential. One of Indonesian Muslims' favourite thematic tafsir books is Cakrawala al-Qur'an by Yunahar Ilyas. This article aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the author's intellectual biography, the methodology for quoting hadith, and the process of verifying the authenticity of the hadith used to support the interpreter's arguments. This study employs qualitative research methods, specifically using documentation and interviews for data collection. The primary reference for this work is Cakrawala al-Qur'an, published by Itqan Publishing in 2015. Through document analysis, significant insights are uncovered regarding Yunahar Ilyas' expertise, methodology, and the quality of the hadith quoted. The study concludes that Yunahar Ilyas is a highly influential expert in Quranic interpretation and sciences in Indonesia. When citing hadith, he employed four methods, with the most common being the inclusion of the hadith without the sanad but mentioning the mukharrij (collector of hadith) in the translation. Of the nine hadiths analysed, three were critically reviewed: one was found to be fake (maudhu'), one was classified as weak (daif), and one as good (hasan). Despite their varying levels of authenticity, these three hadith texts align with the essence of the Quran, other hadiths, logical reasoning, and historical facts.

This article tries to discuss the mapping of hadith studies carried out by orientalists. The study of hadith from time to time continues to develop so that the content of the transition process must be taken into account. This research uses a qualitative methodology which focuses on the use of descriptive-qualitative methodology in library research to understand hadith. So the complexity of hadith studies encourages scholars of hadith studies in both the classical and contemporary eras to come up with ideas regarding methodologies and theories that can differentiate between fake hadiths and authentic ones. This study is also practiced by Orientalists, so in practice it is not only carried out by Muslims. So this development has given rise to a new paradigm based on honesty and openness from both hadith circles and other circles.

Hadith scholars have developed a rigorous discipline for studying and examining the validity of writings attributed to the Prophet Muhammad. Significant research has been published on hadith with respect to its narration (sanad) and text or content (matn). What remains underdeveloped is the role of substantive criticism of the validity of hadith. This article examines the discourse of hadith criticism and provide analytical description and a critical approach for how the validity of a hadith can be determined. It argues that substantive criticism is necessary for proper and acceptable understanding of hadith and in turn for determining the validity of hadith. In addition to a methodology for hadith criticism, the article examines how the meaning of hadith is important in the hadith studies. The article’s main argument concerns the significance of contextual understanding of hadith in any critical study of hadith.[Sarjana hadis telah mengembangkan disiplin yang ketat untuk mempelajari dan memeriksa keabsahan tulisan-tulisan yang dikaitkan dengan Nabi Muhammad. Abstract:
Philosophical tasawuf is regarded by ahl al-sunnah wa al-jama'ah scholars as the deviation from the Koran and hadith and is considered heretical teaching. Though, in philosophical tasawuf there is doctrine of wahdat al-wujud which is the basis of the theory of Insan kamil which is the theory of perfect human being. The climax of the theory of Insan kamil is one initiated by Abd al-Karim al-Jili. Abd Al-Karim Al-Jili in al-Insan al-Kamil fi Ma'rifah al-Awail wa al-Awakhir gives new ideas related to the development of Insan kamil theory by providing justification of sufistic-oriented hadiths to strengthen the argument of Insan kamil theory. This study analyzes the book al-Insan al-Kamil fi Ma'rifah al-Awail wa al-Awakhir by Abd al-Karim as a primary source to find answers of questions about the concept of insan kamil which was initiated by al-Jili; How did al-Jili position the hadith in the concept of insan kamil; and how was the source, quality of sanad and style of meaning. To achieve this goal, this study uses the structural exegesis method as an analysis tool to find the influence of interpretation of the text with the interpreter's experience in the context that surrounds him. The way Al-Jili responded to the criticism of the ahl al-sunnah wa al-jama'ah scholars related to Philosophical tasawuf is to list and make the hadith of the Prophet as the basis in building the concept of Insan kamil. Generally, the hadiths he used were valid in terms of hadtis methodology accepted by hadits schoolars, only few of them used Sufi hadiths methodology which were not accepted in the hadith scholarly methodology, such as the method of narration through dreams and mukasyafah. Al-Jili built the concept of insan kamil based on the most basic Islamic teachings, namely the pillars of Islam, the pillars of faith, and the teachings of spiritual ethics as a process to reach the level of insan kamil. Al-Jili added spiritual meaning to the various ritual actions he performs. Therefore, al-Jili combined zahir (outer) and bathin (inner) dimensions of worship. Keywords: Insan Kamil, al-Jili, hadith, Sufism

Abstract:
This study seeks to explore the commitment of hadith scholars to the Companions and influential figures among the tabi'in during the first century of the Islamic calendar through the process of codifying and transmitting hadith. Hadith represents a primary source of Islamic teachings following the Quran, and its codification is crucial for preserving the integrity and authenticity of Islamic doctrines. During the early period of Islam, the Prophet's companions and the tabi'in played pivotal roles in disseminating and safeguarding hadith traditions. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-historical analysis method, drawing on primary sources such as Ashfahani's Hilyatul Auliya hadith compilation, writings of earlier scholars, and secondary sources including books, scholarly articles, and journals. The findings of the research indicate that the companions of Prophet Muhammad demonstrated significant commitment in memorizing, compiling, and transmitting hadith traditions. They employed diverse strategies to guarantee the precision and trustworthiness of the hadiths they transmitted. Similarly, the leaders among the tabi'in, as the succeeding generation, persisted in this endeavor by stressing the significance of verifying and authenticating hadiths until the compilation of collections of hadith books (tadwin/codification). They developed a more systematic methodology in the codification of hadith, which became the basis for the development of hadith science in subsequent periods. This research provides a deeper understanding of the history of hadith codification and the important role of the companions and tabi'in in this effort, as well as highlighting the importance of the methodology used to maintain the purity of hadith.

Abstract:
The science of hadith, the accuracy factor (ḍabt) of memorization and notes, greatly determines the validity of the hadith, in addition to the trustworthiness factor of a narrator (râwî). The impact of such a strict application of the ḍabt, affects the attitudes and habits of hadith experts, such as the time, place, and special performance of the râwî. Its purpose is to further boost the accuracy of memorizing a hadith. For example, a narrator when narrating a hadith smile, then the act of smiling is also recorded by the student. He also imitates the style of his teacher smiling when narrating the hadith. This act is passed down from generation to generation, which is known as chain-related (musalsal) hadiths. However, the type of musalsal hadith does not automatically make the hadith ṣaḥîḥ. Even some musalsals are weak; some are even unauthentic. Indonesian hadith experts who studied in Mecca (al-ḥaramayn), participated in enlivening the narration and writing books on the musalsal hadiths. The names of Shaykh Yâsîn al-Fâdânî (Padang) and Mukhtâr Aṭârid al-Bûghûrî (Bogor) are listed as hadith experts from Indonesia, who have worked in the field of musalsal. The methodology used in this article is a qualitative method with descriptive approach. The article analyzes the hadiths in the works of the two hadith experts. The finding in this study is that the contribution of Indonesian hadith experts in the field of hadith is amazing, not only in the explanation (sharḥ) of hadith, but also in more detailed fields such as musalsal.

This research focuses on manuscripts owned by Khomsatun, containing various texts, including hadiths discussing threats and rewards in reciting the Qur'an. The primary objective of this study is to present a critical edition of the texts and elucidate the meanings of these hadiths through the approach of ?har? al-?ad?th. The research methodology employed is qualitative, utilizing philological and shar? al-?ad?th approaches. Data collection techniques are conducted through documentation. Three hadiths cited by the compiler were found not to originate from primary hadith sources. The first hadith cannot be further researched as it is proven not to be a hadith. The second hadith, despite differences in authenticity assessments, contains a profound understanding of the position of Surah al-Baqarah as the core of the Qur'an and the virtue of Ayat al-Kursi encompassing divine teachings. The third hadith, although considered ?a‘?f, still conveys an important message about the significance of prayer and reciting the Qur'an as means to draw closer to Allah.

Abstract:
This research delves into studying the suspicion of Hadith fabrication through the concept of the "central narrator" in the chain of narration according to some orientalists who attempt to cast doubt on the authenticity of Prophetic Hadiths from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, through an analytical and critical approach. The objectives of this research are firstly: to understand the true essence of the theory of the central narrator as perceived by some orientalists before critiquing it. Secondly: to comprehend the methodology adopted by some orientalists in presenting this theory in the chains of Hadith narrations. Thirdly: to critique and invalidate this theory in an attempt to uphold the authenticity of Prophetic Hadiths as the secondary source for understanding religious rulings and teachings. The hypotheses of this research are: The first hypothesis suggests that the theory posits that most of the currently recorded Prophetic Hadiths, in terms of their chains of transmission, are centered around narrators in the layer after the major successors of the companions, whom these narrators are referred to as the central narrators or what is known in English as the "common link". Based on this premise, some orientalists believe that the majority of Prophetic Hadiths are fabricated by these central narrators. The second hypothesis suggests that the methodology adopted by some orientalists in presenting this theory involves analyzing the chain of transmission through the following steps: first, identifying the text of the Hadith intended for analysis; second, tracing the text of the Hadith in Hadith books; third, gathering the chains of transmission for that Hadith; and fourth, constructing that chain of transmission into a unified entity. The third hypothesis suggests that the theory of the common link or the central narrator in the chain of Hadith transmission is invalidated by the theory of evidence and corroborations in Prophetic Hadiths, which focus on the two fundamental components of Hadith: the chain of transmission and the text.

This study is the thought of Mohammad Hashim Kamali in the science of hadith which is contained in the book A Textbook of Hadith Studies. This research aims to provide an overview of the critical methodology and criteria for the science of hadith, as well as to try to verify the accuracy of the text and the authenticity of the hadith. This research uses a qualitative research approach with the type of library research and historical research. The results of the study state that Kamali's thoughts only provide a glimpse of the efforts of the scholars and hadith scholars to verify the authenticity of the Prophet's hadith. The wealth of scientific works on the methodology of hadith science and the efforts made to compile many works on hadith cover the history of Islamic scholarship. The classification of hadith literature is divided into ten titles. The authors of this work apply certain critical principles, examine the value, advantages and disadvantages of the hadiths they collect, discuss the reliability of the narrators, and explain rare traditions, then examine these works by considering them to be reliable as the main criteria of guidance for narrators hadith. The number of overlapping biographies of hadith bearers is a sign of falsification of hadith. The falsification of hadith should be condemned regardless of any subject.

Abstract:
Abstract This article analyses the methods applied by contemporary hadith scholars in interpreting the hadiths of the Prophet (PBUH) and the extent to which these methods were practiced by previous hadith scholars. Three leading scholars from al-Ghumārī’s family were selected, namely Aḥmad bin al-Ṣiddīq al-Ghumārī, ʿAbdullah bin Ṣiddīq al-Ghumārī and ʿAbd al-Azīz al-Ghumārī. Al-Ghumārīs are Sufi scholars who have been criticised for their method in evaluating hadith. This research focuses on the methods of interpretation used by the al-Ghumārīs and examines the qualitative research methodology applied by these three scholars in interpreting hadith. The result shows that several of their methods contradict the methods applied by the previous hadith scholars who were careful to distinguish between hadiths that are general or specific. In interpreting hadith al-fitan, these three scholars preferred to use taʾwil (an interpretation not immediately implied by the text) rather than depending on textual methods. Much of their understanding of hadith al-fitan is based on unrealistic assumptions and without any evidence.

Abstract:
This study aims to determine the author of the book of Gayah al-Iḥkām fī Aḥādīṡ al-Aḥkām, namely Abū al-'Abbās Aḥmad bin 'Abdulāh al-Ṭabārī as one of the Shafi'i scholars and to reveal his character in the field of Hadith science through a study of the hadith methodology of the book. This research is a descriptive study with an inductive methodology. The results of the study show that: first, Abū al-'Abbās Aḥmad bin 'Abdulāh al-Ṭabārī is one of the very central Syafii scholars in the Shafii school and has been widely praised by scholars; second, his expertise in the field of hadith is evident through his book, Gayah al-Iḥkām, from the following points: (1) that this book is one of the books that collects the most ahkam hadiths, and its author is among the scholars who first wrote ahkam hadith books as a whole; (2) the main purpose of writing this book is to collect the narrations of the ahkam hadith without including the sanad, so that the author includes the authentic and hasan ahkam traditions, and this is the dominant one, although sometimes he also mentions weak hadiths and very rarely does he explain their weaknesses; (3) through this book, the author's expertise on the science of hadith is seen in his attention to hadith lafaz, explanations of garib hadith, syaraḥ musykil hadith, nasikh and mansūkh, laws of hadith and so on. This book is also more perfect because of the author's attention to the views of the school's scholars and a very systematic arrangement when describing their arguments on the problem of khilafiyah. Through this research, it also appears that the author mentions a lot of information that we don't have today..

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim is one of the greatest manuscript in Hadith and studies of transmitter. Many researches had come out that amid methodology of Imam Muslim, the most significant one is to accommodate the authentic hadith in early chapter. However, Imam Muslim's method towards compilation of authentic hadith in his Ṣaḥīḥ is various, and it has a very high purpose and intellectual value to explain the existense of deficiencies in the text or the chain of hadith (ilal hadith). Starting from that, this article aims to analyze the method of explanation of ilal hadith in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim according to Ḥamzah al-Malyabārī. The analysis was conducted with reference to the books of ʻilal as well as studies related to the methodology of Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim. The result of this research can clarify the community's misunderstanding of this book and can be used by current hadith researchers in interacting with the hadiths of Ṣaḥīḥ Muslims.

Abstract:
This study examines the development, controversy, and influence of hadith bookkeeping in the Islamic tradition from early times to modern contexts. Hadith, as the second source in the Islamic religious hierarchy after the Quran, played an important role in directing religious practice, the establishment of Islamic law, and understanding of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as well as the early period of Islam. Although it began soon after the death of the Prophet, the process of bookkeeping hadith has been marred by controversies surrounding authority, reliability, and methodology. These controversies include the validity of hadiths, the reliability of narrators, selection criteria, and methodologies of interpretation, as well as political and ideological influences in the bookkeeping process. Through a qualitative approach with literature studies, this study analyzes patterns, themes, and arguments that arise in literature related to history, methodology, and controversy in hadith bookkeeping. The results showed that hadith bookkeeping had a significant role in the development of Islamic thought and practice, despite methodological debates. Hadith bookkeeping remains an important cornerstone in the Islamic tradition, and the advice for the future is to maintain the quality and integrity of the hadith bookkeeping process and pay attention to various perspectives in interpreting and applying hadith in a contemporary context.

Abstract:
Hadith, the recorded words and actions of the prophet Muhammad, is a key source of the instructions and foundations of Islam, alongside the Quran. Interpreting individual hadiths and verifying their authenticity can be difficult, even controversial, and the subject has attracted the attention of many scholars who have established an entire science of Hadith criticism. Recent quantitative studies of hadiths focus on developing systems for automatic classification, authentication, and information retrieval that operate over existing hadith compilations. Qualitative studies on the other hand try to discuss different social and political issues from the perspective of hadiths, or they inspect how hadiths are used in specific contexts in official communications and press releases for argumentation and propaganda. However, there are no studies that attempt to understand the actual presence of hadiths among Muslims in their daily lives and interactions. In this study, we try to fill this gap by exploring the presence of hadiths on Twitter from January 2019 to January 2023. We highlight the challenges that quantitative methods should consider while processing texts that include hadiths and we provide a methodology for Islamic scholars to validate their hypotheses about hadiths on big data that better represent the position of the society and Hadith influence

The purpose of this study is to see the study of hadith in social media used as a tool of da'wah in Islam, the research methodology uses descriptive analysis. The study of hadith in Instagram as a social media is used as a connector for Islamic da'wah. The results in this study are divided into three categories. First, the delivery of the hadith only includes a translation without showing the original editorial which is claimed to be from the prophet, after examining the accounts of Islamic studies, there are actually many hadiths that are not in accordance with the history and make false hadiths. Second, conveying the hadith by including the source of the hadith but leading to other sources so that the true meaning of the hadith as da'wah is used for worldly purposes. Third, conveying hadith in social media purely because of Allah and setting the hadith of the prophet in its place so that the truth of da'wah is conveyed to people who see it in the media. Therefore in taking news in the media must be careful to see the truth.

Abstract:
The epistemology of Hadith studies that has been built in the history of Muslim civilization since the beginning of Islam until now with the structure of riwayah and dirayah Hadith study as well as its various branches, has provided a significant contribution to the critique and research of the Prophet Hadith authenticity. Through variety of concepts and theories in ulum al-Hadfts, Muslims can distinguish between authentic Hadiths, which are coming from the Prophet and those are not, in terms of sanad, matan, or both, so it can also be determined whether the Hadiths can be used as argumentation (dalil) in the religious life of Muslims or not.

Throughout history, epistemology of Hadith studies has been recognized by Muslims and there is no significant resistance from ancient times to the present, accept from the Orientalists who had rejected Hadith criticism methodology proposed by Scholars of Hadith. The Orientalists who were skeptical of the authenticity of Prophet Hadith that appeared since the second half of the nineteenth century AD, as if they had tried to break down the foundations of Hadith epistemology through their premise, concept, and conclusions. Facing such orientalist attitudes, this paper tries to offer four concepts, critical and scientific attitude, constructive and not destructive thinking, based thinking on the basic concept of the Koran, and using the method of thinking balancely and proportionally.

This research examines the quality of the traditions "manjara tsaubahu", that they explain the prohibition of lengthening cloths or pants with arrogant intentions, whether it is being arrogant to Allah or to others, being arrogant to Allah is where when you are worshiping Allah. Then the hadiths use several kinds of commands in terms of prohibitions, including; By threatening to be reluctant by Allah, there are also those who do not accept their worship (do not get rewarded) and so on. So that if we lengthen cloths or pants with arrogant intentions, it is prohibited by Allah. The main focus in this research is the sanad and observations of the Prophet's hadiths which contain the "manjaara tsaubahu". This research is library research with the main reference being the books of the hadiths of al-Kutub al-Tis'ah and maktabah syamilah. Besides the hadith books mentioned above, books related to takhrij al-hadith are also references in this study, such as: Ushul al-Takhrij wa Dirasat al-Asanid. Research methodology of the Prophet's hadith written by Syuhudi Ismail, and others. To examine the narrators of Hadith, the books that are used as references are related to the observational study of hadith. The result of this research is the authentic quality hadith sanad, namely the history of Abu Dawud. From the eyes of the hadith, the quality of authenticity does not contradict the Qur'an and authentic traditions, common sense, historical facts, language and with Islamic principles.

This study aims to describe the interpretation of prophetic hadiths concerning the predictions by the Prophet as a guide for the future and how the methodology of understanding hadith contributes to a correct interpretation of these statements. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method. This study showed that the predictions made by Prophet Muhammad in hadiths about the state of the community are not necessarily meant to be seen as inevitable destinies but rather as events that will unfold. The negative interpretations of these predictions have led to a loss of relevance in the present era. However, by understanding the distinctive characteristics of hadiths and applying the knowledge of fiqh al-hadith, one can better comprehend the statements of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

The hadith explanation book of Sahih al-Bukhari written by Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalani, Fath al-Bari, is one of the most pupular books in Moslem ummah. Is widely used by Moslem scholars to meet the meanings of hadiths compiled by the imam al-Bukhari in his Sahih al-Bukhari. Fath al-Bari is considered significant to do the research on it in order to develop the science of hadith, mainly through the hermeneutic method. By using this method, the research questions are: 1. How does Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalani explain the matans (hadith texts) of Sahih al Bukhari in connection with hermeneutic method? 2. What are the hermeneutic principles used by Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalani in his explanations of hadith? This research is expected to respond the research questions above so that it can be implimented the field of hadith in relation to develop hadith methodology. Finally, the research uncover that in his explanations of hadiths, Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalani is oriented his world views to the classical Islam, the era of Prophet’s companions and their successors, the Salaf al-Salih. He does not express the Islamic world issues available in his time in his explanations of the hadiths. He is considered a normative ‘ulama since he is not influenced by the emerging cases situated his time in Egypt, Mecca and Madina. He tends to be textual to explain the matans of hadiths although to some extent he uncovers the historical contexts of the hadiths he explains. This is common for a muhadith whose main jobs is to collect and narrate the whole data on Prophet's sayings, acts and permissions either on sanads (narrators) or matans (texts).

Keywords: Fath al-Bari; sharh al-hadith; hermeneutik.

This book is famous and distributed in the Archipelago especially in Malaysia and Indonesia. It is also widely used in pesantran or pondok nowaday. Sheikh al-Zarnuji used hadiths of prophet Muhammad s.a.w as the main source and hujjah in Ta’lim al-Muta’allim’s book. He also included some other categories of hadith including da’if and mawdu’ hadiths. The issue is Ta’lim al-Muta’llim’s book contains many da’if and mawdu’ hadiths and have been referred by Muslim. This study is very important to understand the method and rule of practicing of da’if and mawdu’ hadiths. Hence, this study aimed to analyse da’if and mawdu’ hadiths contained in Ta’lim al-Muta’llim’s book. The methodology of this hadith is qualitative method by using content analysis approach toward Ta’lim al-Muta’llim’s book. Thus, the finding for the analysis of 40 hadiths in this book found that only 30% hadith can be used for fada’il al-amal if fulfilled the conditions by the ulama’s. Hence, thematic analysis is important to be done in order to ensure the quantity of da’if and mawdu’ hadiths in this book and also to ensure the da’if hadith can be practiced only for fada’il al-amal matter.

Hadith has its classification. Hadith consists of ṣahih and ḍa'īf. The s}ahīh is accepted in his hadith while the ḍa'if is rejected in his hadith. But not every hadith ḍa'īf is rejected. There are several criteria of hadith ḍa'īf that can be accepted, namely ḍa'īf which level of ḍa'īf is not to severe. The scholars have compiled the book of hadith from the category of s}ahīh until there is a ḍa'īf. The most ṣahih books are found in the books of ṣahih Al-Bukhārī and Muslim and the rest, like the sunan al-'Arba'ah where the hadiths in which ṣahih are also ḍa'īf. The purpose of this study is to know the position of Muḥammad bin 'Abdirraḥmān aṭ-Ṭufāwī in the view of the scholars of jarh wa ta'dīl and to know the position of the hadiths narrated by aṭ-Ṭufāwī in Ṣaḥīḥ Al-Bukhārī. The methodology used in this research is descriptive analysis, which consists of three stages of research, namely the stages of orientation, exploration and analysis. It does not matter if there is a hadith ḍa'īf out of those two books of ṣahih Al-Bukhārī and Muslim. However, it would be a question if there is an indication of the hadith ḍa'if written in those s}ahīh books. Whereas in the authenticity of the hadith in it has been tested, the scholars have acknowledged the authenticity of the hadith in the book. But here the author found the narrator which indicated as a ḍa'īf in the book ṣahih Al-Bukhārī, the narrator is Muḥammad bin 'Abd al-Raḥman al-Ṭufāwī. The evaluation of jarh against him is found in many ways, among them it is evaluated as tadlis, he likes to narrate munkar hadith and tasyayyu '. Thus, this study was conducted to find out fully and thoroughly how the scholars view him. And what is the position of those hadiths narrated by Muḥammad bin ‘Abdirraḥmān aṭ-Ṭufāwī in Ṣaḥīḥ Al-Bukhārī.

Abstract:
The critique of hadith matn is relatively rare among muhaddithin compared to their efforts in hadith isnad critique. This is not without reason, as they believe a hadith of the Prophet cannot be considered authentic without a chain of transmission connecting it back to the source, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). A well-phrased statement that aligns with Islamic teachings cannot be regarded as a hadith if the chain of narrators linking it to the Prophet is not found. Conversely, a sound isnad has no value if the matn cannot be substantiated. This paper aims to elaborate on the evolving methodology in the critique of hadith matn. This study will discuss various aspects underlying this evolution, including the crucial role of matn critique in ensuring the integrity and authenticity of hadith. Through a historical approach and critical analysis, the research will explore how scholars have developed new methods to assess the validity of hadith matn and the implications of these approaches on hadith sciences as a whole. Additionally, the paper will identify the challenges faced in the application of matn critique, such as overcoming subjective biases and maintaining a balance between isnad and matn critique. By examining the views of both classical and contemporary scholars, this research will provide a comprehensive overview of the evolution of matn critique methodology and its relevance in the modern context. This study aims to offer deep insights into the importance of hadith matn critique and encourage further research in this field, thereby enriching Islamic scholarship and strengthening the understanding of the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Abstract:
This study endeavors to investigate strategies for enhancing the pedagogy of Islamic Studies methodology, rendering it more efficacious and pertinent to contemporary requisites, with particular emphasis on advancing the effectiveness of instruction and the progression of hadith studies within the domain of Islamic higher education. The overarching objective is to establish a comprehensive framework governing the methodological approach to the instruction of hadith. The methodological framework adopted in this investigation is inherently descriptive and analytical in nature. Data acquisition was undertaken through the meticulous analysis of scholarly literature, encompassing documentary research, and direct observation of hadith instruction within the precincts of Islamic higher education institutions. A scrupulous evaluation of the construct of Islamic Studies Methodology in the context of hadith pedagogy has unearthed a plethora of inadequacies that necessitate immediate rectification. This study posits a compelling argument for the imperative of reform in the domain of hadith instruction within Islamic higher education. The required initiatives for the amelioration of hadith instruction encompass: (1) A concerted amplification of the focus on the scholarly study of hadith methodology, with a view to fostering an enduring culture of erudition; (2) Augmentation of accessibility to digital resources and traditional Islamic literature; (3) The empowerment of innovation and technology as pedagogical tools to engender a more immersive and captivating learning experience; (4) Advocacy for an interdisciplinary approach to hadith instruction, affording students the opportunity to scrutinize hadith from a multiplicity of disciplinary vantage points; (5) The facilitation of an environment that encourages open discourse and a profound comprehension of the contextual underpinnings of hadith; and (6) The inculcation of the imperative of integrating both normative and historical dimensions in the teaching of hadith, to ensure a more contextualized understanding. These initiatives are anticipated to contribute to the augmentation of the efficacy of hadith instruction within Islamic higher education, providing students with a deeper comprehension of the subject matter and preserving the relevance of hadith in the contemporary milieu.

Abstract:
Hadith as the second source of law in Islam, has various forms of derivation of meaning depending on the form of the method as well as the approach used. To be able to understand it in depth, a comprehensive study is needed with the use of appropriate methods and approaches so as to be able to extract the meaning that exists in a hadith text. Yusuf al-Qaradawi as a contemporary Hadith scholar also offers a new methodology in an effort to understand the Hadith so as to facilitate the preachers and researchers provide penjelasn Hadith against the text used or studied. The methodology of understanding is outlined in his book entitled Kaifa Nata'amal Ma'a al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah. Yusuf Al-Qardawi in the book emphasizes on understanding the Hadith as an attempt to ground the Prophet's Hadith with several methods including by combining Hadith with the Qur'an, testing the validity of a Hadith with sahih hadiths that are thematic, closer to the main and more in accordance with the wisdom of Shari'ah or the general purpose of Shari'ah. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analytical methods. The object of study in this article is the book Kaifa Nata'amal Ma'a al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah, by Yusuf al-Qaradawi. The primary source in this article is the book of Kaifa Nata'amal Ma'a al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah, which was written directly by Yusuf al-Qaradawi, containing all methods and steps to understand and use Hadith in daily activities. Secondary sources in this paper are obtained from books, journals, and articles related to the writing being discussed. The results showed that the reformulation of the methodology offered by Yusuf al-Qaradawi in the book Kaifa Nata'amal Ma'a al-Sunnah Al-Nabawiyyah get the pros and cons of the readers and enthusiasts of Hadith studies. Also in another aspect, the Hadith method of thought offered by him is relevant to the current historical needs. This is because the understanding of the Hadith text must be relevant to itself, in the sense that its meaning is limited to the values it contains and is relevant to the current conditions of society whose relevance takes place on a rational understanding. The perspective of Yusuf al-Qaradawi indicates the development of Hadith studies, although in this case it gets opposition from other Hadith thinkers.

Abstract:
This research aims to explore and analyze hadith research methodology from the perspective of Syuhudi Ismail, a Muslim scholar known for his contributions to hadith studies. In facing the complexity of contemporary challenges, hadith methodology has an important role in supporting the understanding and dissemination of Islamic teachings. Syuhudi Ismail, with his critical thinking approach, has made a significant contribution to the development of hadith research methodology. This research will identify the methodological principles proposed by Syuhudi Ismail, and explain the context of his thinking, using library research methods. The results of this research state that in Syuhudi Ismail's concept of thought, the object of hadith research is divided into 2, namely sanad research (Naqd al Khariji) and matan research (Naqd al-Dakhiliy). In sanad research (Naqd al Khariji), it begins with carrying out I'tibar al-Sanad and then continues with researching the personalities of the narrators and their methods of narration. In this research on sanad, Syuhudi mentions the elements of the rules for the validity of sanad in the simplified terms "major and minor rules". Meanwhile, in Matan Hadith research activities, Syuhudi gave several steps that researchers must take, including: 1). Examining the matan after looking at the quality of the sanad, 2) looking at the meaningful arrangement of the matan pronunciations, 3) examining the content of the matan, and concluding the results of the research on the matan hadith. The results of this research on hadith matan will revolve around two options, whether the matan hadith is shahih or dha'if.

Abstract:
Muhammad al-Ghazali, a prominent hadith scholar from Egypt, is widely known as a leading figure in modern times. One of his significant contributions to the field of Hadith studies is a book entitled "as-Sunnah an-Nabawiyyah baina Ahl al-Fiqh Wa Ahl al-Ḥadīṡ," which focuses on critical analysis of Hadith. The aim of this research is to explain Muhammad al-Ghazali's views on the development of the methodology for understanding hadith, as well as to examine the consequences arising from his interpretation of tasyri`. This research uses content analysis methodology, specifically utilizing library research techniques to examine Muhammad al-Ghazali's hadith ideas and their relevance to tasyri` in his written works on hadith. This research adopts an empirical rationality approach. From this research the author found several findings, namely; First, Muhammad al-Ghazali in his book has created a dichotomy between Hadith Experts and Fiqh Experts. He said that only Fiqh experts are more proportional in detecting the authenticity of a Hadith. This has a negative impact on Hadith experts where they are accused of being a textual group in understanding Hadith. Second, the individual expressed his reluctance to utilize Hadith aḥad as a means of upholding his faith. According to an individual's point of view, topics related to faith should be based on personal beliefs and not on speculative reasoning, because speculative reasoning is less useful in terms of practical application and application of the law. This has implications for the Hadiths regarding events surrounding the Day of Judgment, including the signs, events of the Day of Judgment and events of the Day of Resurrection to the issue of heaven and hell. All this is narrated by Hadith aḥad. Third, in carrying out criticism, he focuses on matan criticism rather than sanad criticism. In the context of scientific investigation, examining the validity of a hadith and explaining its intended meaning, with the aim of understanding the teachings conveyed by the Prophet.

Abstract:
The abundance of scholarly approaches within the field of hadith studies, particularly disciplines like the science of criticism and verification (jarh wa ta’dil), utilized for classifying the authenticity of a hadith, underscores the significance of discerning between the soundness of the content (matn) and the reliability of the chain of narrators (sanad). In response to this phenomenon, hadith scholars have undertaken comprehensive critical examinations encompassing both the matn and sanad without neglecting their interrelationship. Within the realm of hadith scholarship, the evaluation of the sanad serves as a yardstick for assessing the validity of a hadith, whereby the authenticity of the sanad, untainted by disparagement (jarh), plays a pivotal role in determining the reliability of the hadith. In this study, a quantitative methodology has been employed as supplementary data for a library-based research approach. This choice is justified by the existence of disparate viewpoints among categories of hadith critics, which contribute to the determination of hadith authenticity. Each category of hadith critic adheres to specific criteria when ascertaining the soundness of a hadith. Accordingly, this article delves into an in-depth exploration of the different groups of critics of hadith narrators. The aim is to caution against hastily passing judgments on potentially weak hadiths, preventing their outright dismissal or preclusion as sources of legal evidence (dalil syari).

Abstract:
Rijal books play an essential role in hadith studies by providing detailed information on the biographies and evaluations of hadith narrators. Through this literature, hadith scholars can assess the reliability and credibility of narrators, which helps determine the authenticity of the hadiths they transmit. This article explores the methodology in rijal books, their relevance in contemporary hadith studies, and the challenges they face in the modern context. The methodologies used include sanad criticism, compiling the biographies of narrators, and evaluating reputations based on scholars' testimonies. Sanad criticism ensures the continuity and trustworthiness of the transmission chain, while narrator biographies provide a comprehensive view of the narrators' lives, education, and activities. Reputation evaluation gathers opinions from scholars who know the narrators. The use of rijal books remains relevant in hadith verification, sanad criticism, hadith education, and academic research. They also offer insights into the social, political, and cultural contexts of the narrators, which are crucial for interpreting hadiths in the modern context. However, there are several challenges in their use, including limited information, the influence of historical context, and the need to integrate modern methodologies. Digital technology offers broader access but also raises challenges of validity and reliability of information. Major rijal books such as Al-Tarikh al-Kabir by Imam al-Bukhari and Al-Jam'u Bayna Rijal al-Shahihayn by Ibn Qirani, as well as other works like Ushul al-Ghabah Fi Ma’rifatil Asma’is Shahabah and Al-Thabaqat al-Kubra, make significant contributions to hadith studies. By understanding the methodologies and challenges in using rijal books, we can better appreciate the complexity and importance of hadith studies in the Islamic tradition. These books remain an important reference for anyone wishing to delve into hadith science and ensure the authenticity and validity of hadith chains.

Abstract:
This article examines Salah al-Din bin Ahmad al-Adlabi’s thought on the subject of methodology of criticism of the Prophet’s hadith content (matan). Al-Adlabi is a hadith scholar who has significat influence on the research methodology of hadith content. In his work entitled Manhaj Naqd al-Matn ‘Inda ‘Ulama al-Hadith al-Nabawiy, al-Adlabi outlines that the background necessitating the importance of the research methodology of hadith content comprises two factors, namely, there have been occurrences of falsification of the Prophet’s hadith at the time of transmission, and there has been a spread of al-wahm, that is, some errors or mistakes in the transmission of the Prophet’s hadith. To determine the quality of a hadith content, al-Adlabi put forward four standards for the validity of hadith content, they are: a), not contradicting to the instructions of al-Qur`an; b), does not conflict with more authentic hadith; c) does not conflict with a healthy mind, senses and history; d) the composition of its statements does not show the characteristics of prophethood. Al-Adlabi’sthought on the methodology of criticism of hadith content obviously worth further discussion. Hence, further study and deeper digging is required in order to give birth to more accurate, constructive, and comprehensive ideas.
