Abstract:
The OECD Halden Reactor Project is a joint undertaking of national nuclear organisations from 20 countries, who together sponsor a research programme under the auspices of the OECD - Nuclear Energy Agency. One of the Projects important research areas addresses human factors in control room design and operation. The simulator-based Halden Man-Machine Laboratory (HAMMLAB) has, since its establishment in 1983, been the main facility for conducting research in this area. It's objective is to provide knowledge for improving today's control rooms, through the introduction and evaluation of computer-

This experiment, conducted at the OECD Halden Reactor Project, Halden, Norway in the spring 1991, aimed to assess the effect on nuclear power plant operators diagnostic behaviour when using a rule based diagnostic expert system. The rule based expert system used in the experiment is called DISKET (Diagnosis System Using Knowledge Engineering Technique) and was originally developed by the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI). The experiment was performed in the Halden man-machine laboratory using a full scope pressurized water reactor simulator. Operator performance in terms of qualit

Abstract:
Different types of instruments have been developed both for in-pile fuel and materials studies at the Halden Reactor Project. In recent years, several of the standard instruments have been upgraded to be able to tolerate much higher temperatures. In particular, several instruments are now able to operate up to 650°C and 25 MPa, thus in the range suitable for supercritical water (SCW) studies. In addition, a feasibility study for an in-pile SCW loop has been carried out that shows that such a loop can be realized in the Halden reactor, allowing for all the instrumentation possibilities that are

Abstract:
In the Long-Term Degradation Management (LTDM) project we approach component ageing problems with data-analysis methods. It includes literature review about related work. We have used several data sources: water chemistry data from the Halden reactor, simulator data from the HAMBO simulator, and data from a local coffee machine instrumented with sensors. K-means clustering is used in cluster analysis of nuclear power plant data. A method for detecting trends in selected clusters is developed. Prognosis models are developed and tested. In our analysis ARIMA models and gamma processes are used.
