AbstractA high-current electron-beam accelerator for pumping of a Xe2 lamp was developed. It is intended for injection of an electron beam into cylindrical gas cavity (diameter of 400 mm, length of 1600 mm, and the absolute pressure up to 3 bars). Two electron diodes in parallel are used in the accelerator. Each diode is connected to a linear transformer driver with vacuum insulation of a secondary turn. The next parameters of the accelerator have been obtained: diode voltage — 550–600 kV, diode current — 276–230 kA, current rise time — 160 ns, maximum power of the electron beam — 130 GW, puls

Antenna Beam forming is a technology or a technique that is finding increasing use in systems of cellular telecommunication, especially 5G, as well as many other wireless systems. Beam forming refers to the formation of a beam of energy from a set of phased arrays. With the use of phased arrays, it is possible to control the direction and shape of the beam from multiple antennas, based on the spacing between antennas and the phase of signal from each antenna element in the array. Beam forming focuses a wireless signal towards a specific receiving device, rather than having the signal spread in

Analytical expression of beam broadening spectrum for a vertical beam subject to a constant vertical wind in the absence of horizontal wind is derived first. We find that the resultant beam broadening spectral shape is in an exponential form, rather than a Gaussian shape. The peak of the exponential spectrum corresponds to the true vertical wind velocity, and the spectral width σ is a function of vertical wind velocity w and the half-power

Abstract:
In this letter, we proposed a simple balanced-detection reception scheme for the half-cycled single-sideband direct-detected optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (HSSB DD-OFDM) signal with decreased guard band. By employing this scheme, each entire OFDM symbol can be recovered perfectly, while the signal-to-signal beat interference (SSBI) can be eliminated, the guard band can be reduced greatly and the tolerance to phase noise induced inter-channel interference (PN-ICI) and potential benefit of low peak to average power (PAPR) are retained. The simulation results demonstrate that a 40 Gbps 16-QAM HSSB DD-OFDM signal was achieved successfully.

Abstract:
This chapter presents control methods applied in the operation of the series loaded series resonant (SLSR) power converters in a most efficient operation zone. The choice of the control method is affected by the objective to guarantee suitably the efficiency, being this method in the same time, relatively easy to apply. The first part of the chapter compares three basic principles of regulation: frequency mode (FM), pulse width mode (PWM), and their combination (PWM/FM). Finally, a new method for instantaneous regulation is developed. The proposed technique consists of a simplified observation of a state variable value to limit each portion of supplied energy, depending on the requirement for power in each half period. The result of this regulation is comparable to the current mode (CM) control applied to the hard-switching power converters. The viability of this new regulation method is demonstrated by simulations of its analogue circuit implementations and experimentally proved. The circuit is also prepared for the changes in the magnetic coupling (contactless energy transfer).

Abstract:
In this chapter, the design and comparative analysis is done in between the most well-known column compression multipliers by Wallace and Dadda in sub-threshold regime. In order to reduce the hardware which ultimately reduces area, power and overall power delay product, an energy efficient basic modules of the multipliers like AND gates, half adders, full adders and partial product generate units have been analyzed for sub-threshold operation. At the last stage ripple carry adder is used in both multipliers. The performance metrics considered for the analysis of the multipliers are: power, delay and PDP. Simulation studies are carried out for 8x8-bit and 16x16-bit input data width. The proposed circuits show energy efficient results with Spectre simulations for the TSMC 180nm CMOS technology at 0.4V supply voltage. The proposed multipliers so implemented outperform its counterparts exhibiting low power consumption and lesser propagation delay as compared to conventional multipliers.

On 24 May 1847, I reached St Petersburg by ship, and since that time have been employed by the Imperial Theatre. Sixty years of service in one place, in one institution, is quite rare, and a destiny not granted to many mortals. 1 MARIUS PETIPA’S DESTINY, it is true, was exceptional, even if he was only one of many French artists and other foreigners who flocked to Russia because their services were in high demand. For more than a century and a half, Russia had been turning its gaze to the West, seeking to acquire the cultural apparatus that would help transform it into a modern world power. When Petipa arrived in St Petersburg he had the promise of a contract and the hope that he would make a career, if not a fortune, although foreign dancers were rewarded with higher pay than native Russians. He was twenty-nine, not so young for a dancer. In his suitcase were three scarves, packed by his anxious mother. ‘She was,’ he wrote, ‘very disturbed about the fate of my nose, which would have to bear the onslaught of frosts so severe that even the bears could hardly stand them.’...

The shear deformation in the VEM is not significant in regions where the bending moment is maximal. Mostly only extensional deformation occurs in the damping layer.
