This study employs Stuart Hall's reception theory, which categorizes audiences into three groups in interpreting media messages: Dominant-Hegemonic Code, Negotiated Code, and Oppositional Code. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method by describing the research results using Stuart Hall's reception theory. In determining the informants, this research uses purposive sampling technique with the criteria of being female, currently or previously in a romantic relationship, and having watched the web series "Yang Hilang Dalam Cinta" on Disney+ Hotstar. From in-depth interviews with eight informants, six informants are in the dominant position, and two informants are in the negotiation position. Informants in the dominant position agree with the message of the series, concurring that gaslighting is a wrong and harmful behavior because it can make women powerless in a romantic relationship and lead to a range of negative impacts. Meanwhile, informants in the negotiation position also acknowledge that gaslighting is a harmful behavior, but they consider the educational aspect of the series. According to them, the presence of this series can provide examples of gaslighting behavior and its negative impacts so that women out there can have better awareness. Abstract:
Inscribed in Homi Bhabha's project of "re-inventing Britain" and Stuart Hall's representation of cultural diversity, the present study explores the way in which the tropes of magical realism have been implemented to remap the new frontiers of the European construct in Bernardine Evaristo's Soul Tourists. In order to achieve this aim, a close reading technique has been relied on to deconstruct the text into basic dichotomies that trace the European centre and its margin. Furthermore, the British magical realism model of Anne Hegerfeldt is employed to highlight how the writer successfully reversed the realistic paradigm of the centre as she focalised the narration from an "ex-centric" point of view. In doing so, Europe became a warm home for the diasporic subject.

Abstract:
Citizen culture and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika are a set of ideas or concepts that contain positive values and become the identity of a nation. However, with globalization, people's lifestyles have shifted to modern lifestyles, because it is one of the crucial problems that makes people no longer preserve citizen culture and the values contained in the motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika as a national identity. This study aims to analyze the contribution of the Mapalus tradition of house building to strengthen citizen culture and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in Tobatu Dua Tengah village. This study is an ethnographic study with a qualitative approach. The research data collection technique uses in-depth interview techniques, observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Mapalus tradition of house building can strengthen citizen culture in terms of language, knowledge, kinship and social organization, and art. These findings are in line with Hall's theory, that cultural identity comes from ancestral heritage, has certain elements and values that strengthen the cultural identity of a region. Mapalus house construction also provides reinforcement of bhinneka tunggal ika in the aspect of strengthening social solidarity, resource sharing, collective problem solving, uniting various social groups, non-formalistic principles, convergent, pluralistic and multicultural, and the spirit of mutual cooperation. This finding is in line with Robert's theory that high social connectedness, achieved through joint activities, can increase trust and cooperation between community members.

Abstract:
Instagram has developed into a media tool in political dynamics. Political content on Instagram can build opinions for media audiences (followers) who access it, so followers become strategic targets for receiving political messages through constructed content. This study aims to describe the followers' reception of Anies Baswedan's image as a 2024 presidential candidate on the @pinterpolitik account. This research method uses a qualitative approach with an interpretative paradigm. Data analysis is used to conclude the reception of @pinterpolitik account followers. The data collection technique uses the in-depth interview method. Informants were selected based on the @pinterpolitik followers who are university students. Reception analysis is used to determine the implications of research subjects for messages in mass media. Stuart Hall's decoding and encoding theory divides followers' positions into three categories to find reception patterns: dominant-hegemonic, negotiation, and opposition. The results of this study show that informants who are followers are in a dominant hegemonic position in receiving information about Anies Baswedan on the @pinterpolitik account. This tendency to gather information from the account is based on their trust in the independence of the @pinterpolitik account in disseminating information. Moreover, every information disseminated has valid and accountable sources and data. Based on the assessment based on information on the @pinterpolitik account, Anies Baswedan's image is positively assessed as an intellectual individual, organized rhetoric, narrating according to data, and a religious individual.

Abstract:
The number of electric vehicle sales has been increasing rapidly since 2015. This marketing success is inseparable from the role of the mass media in promoting and campaigning for the use of such vehicles. This study attempts to investigate how the mass media represents the concept of electric vehicles through its campaign and promotion discourses. Using a descriptive qualitative method with the interpretation technique, this study analyzed 20 texts collected from electric vehicle campaigns and promotion discourses produced by the mass media. The data was analyzed from the Critical Discourse Analysis perspective based on Hall's theory of representation and Fowler's theory of linguistic tools. This process resulted in 177 words, phrases, and clauses that represent the concept of electric vehicles. The results of this study reveal 4 (four) important representations of electric vehicles from the eye of the mass media; (1) electric vehicles are environmentally friendly, (2) electric vehicles are technologically advanced, (3) electric vehicles are economical, and (4) electric vehicles are a growing innovation. The results of this study are expected to bring both theoretical and practical contributions. Theoretically, they add to the knowledge in the realm of Critical Discourse Analysis, especially regarding representation. Meanwhile, practically, the results of this study are beneficial for mass media practitioners to be used as a model to construct campaign and advertisement languages that are able to attract audience attention as well as influence people's ideology.

Wayang kulit not only functions as entertainment, but is also a vehicle for conveying philosophical messages. As in the Cupu Manik Astagina puppet play, there is a philosophical message in the form of "sapa nandur ngundhuh" or whoever plants will reap. Therefore, this study aims to explore the philosophical message of "sapa nandur ngundhuh" in the Cupu Manik Astagina puppet play by Ki Enthus Susmono by representing it so that the message can be conveyed. This qualitative research uses Stuart Hall's representation theory through Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis model, namely symbolic code and action code. The data source is a video of a shadow puppet performance entitled "Pakeliran Solid Wayang Kulit Lakon Cupu Manik Astagina by Ki Enthus Susmono" on YouTube Aa Studio. The listening-note taking technique is used to collect data in the form of words and utterances obtained from ginem and janturan in the story. It is known through the symbol code and action code. The results showed that the concept of "sapa nandur ngundhuh" in the Cupu Manik Astagina puppet play does not only apply to the karma themselves, but can affect other people, including their descendants. In the story of Dewi Windradi, her actions have consequences not only for herself, but also her three children. This research also highlights how karma can be prevented from continuing to reap through some tirakat practices. Such as fasting (ngrowot), meditation and asceticism (tapa brata) which aim to cleanse themselves of past sins and minimize negative karma in the future.

Poligami Asyik Channel is one of the media used by Ustad Awan (UA) to socialize polygamy invitations. The language on this polygamous YouTube uses sensational language. Even though this invitation to polygamy is packaged in sensational language, it is still defeated by personal and interpersonal experiences that are discussed on social media and represented in stories from films and soap operas. This paper aims to map the forms of reception, the factors behind the reception and their impact on public discourse on polygamy law. This research is qualitative and based on primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained from distributing questionnaires to participants in the Daurah Poligami online training (December 2022) and studies on the Poligami Asyik Channel (from December 1 to December 23, 2022). Data are sorted and classified based on Stuart Hall's reception theory. The stages of data processing started with the reduction of netizens' expressions /receptions in the comments column. The observation of data display is carried out in the form of a summary and synopsis based on reception expression patterns. The analysis follows an interpretation technique that starts with a restatement of the data followed by a description, ends with an interpretation of the dataThe results of the study show that invitations to polygamy using sensational language increase public rejection of polygamy. The public reception is through personal and interpersonal expressions that are discussed on social media and then represented in public entertainment media (soap operas and films). The difference in the reception then becomes a hybrid reception that further dramatizes polygamy law, so that it is not in line with Islamic law.

Abstract:
The popularity of the Korean drama "Mask Girl" has secured its position as the 2nd most popular series globally on Netflix as of August 21, 2023. "Mask Girl" narrates the story of Kim Mo Mi, who faces social pressure due to her appearance being deemed inconsistent with Korean beauty standards. This research aims to identify the interpretation of beauty standards in the drama among teenagers in Jakarta using mass communication theory and Stuart Hall's Semiotics. The approach employed in this study is qualitative, utilizing in-depth interviews as the data collection technique. The research findings indicate that the interpretation of beauty standards among Jakarta teenagers, as portrayed in the Korean drama "Mask Girl," consists of dominant, negotiated, and oppositional positions as postulated by Stuart Hall. Informant 1 takes a negotiated position, considering plastic surgery not strange and not harmful to others. Informant 2 holds a dominant position, agreeing with someone undergoing plastic surgery as long as it helps them become the best version of themselves. In contrast, Informant 3 adopts an oppositional position, disagreeing with someone undergoing plastic surgery, emphasizing the importance of self-love and acceptance.

Smart Hall’s technique can be one of the options to arrest the progression of dental caries which involves the application of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) to carious molars and restoring them with Glass ionomer cement followed by placement of stainless steel crown. This case report describes the management of multiple carious primary molars using Smart Hall’s technique in a 5-year-old patient who presented with a high dental anxiety. The treatment plan for this particular patient was divided into two phases (a) Preventive and (b) Restorative. SDF was applied to all carious molars and the teeth were restored using Glass ionomer cement followed by Stainless Steel crowns. The bite was initially raised after crown placement which settled gradually after a few weeks follow-up. This innovative approach of restoring primary molars using Smart Hall’s technique negates the need for invasive treatment under local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia.

Abstract:
Historical villages bear historical, cultural, architectural, aesthetic, and landscape values, but they are facing a series of dangers and problems during the process of urbanization. Digital survey for traditional villages plays a crucial role in the preservation, planning, and development of this kind of heritage. The introduction of the terrestrial laser scanning technique is essential for heritage surveying, mapping, and modeling due to its advantages of noncontact measurement, accurate sensing of complex objects, and efficient operation. In recent years, TLS and related processing software (“SCENE”) have been widely presented as effective techniques for dealing with the management and protection of historical buildings in Fenghuang village. Thus, this paper highlights the process of using laser scanning to obtain architectural data, process point clouds, and compare the characteristics of historical buildings in Fenghuang village. The cloud-to-cloud registration technique is applied to build point clouds. As a result of model construction, some architectural patterns are summarized in this village, such as the spatial sequence of ancestral halls, the dominant position of memorial halls, and the character of building decorations and roof slopes. Furthermore, a BIM model is also explained to fulfill the statistical function for architectural components. In the future, more research can be fulfilled based on the built point cloud model, which will be beneficial for the development of the whole village.

Abstract:
Indonesia is a country that has solid Eastern cultural roots and a patriarchal system that is still deeply rooted. With the existence of diverse cultures in Indonesia, there are also various audience perceptions of media content, especially on social media, which has now become a necessity for the younger generation, which is currently included in the scope of Generation Z. Recently, social media TikTok has become one of the platforms that have highest usage rate. The use of social media TikTok does not look at gender or gender. Everyone can show their performance through the application. This research focuses on how Generation Z women interpret meaning regarding men who follow the TikTok trend, one of which is men's upload of TikTok dances. This study aims to look at the responses of the female generation Z regarding masculinity from TikTok dance uploads. Data generated from informant interviews will be presented in a descriptive qualitative form. Determination of data sources is done using the snowball sampling technique. This study tries to find out how the public understands and interprets the contents of messages (giving meaning) based on their experiences and views in communicating and consuming online media content, which is analyzed by Stuart Hall's Reception Theory, through dismantling media messages through three possible positions, namely dominant, negotiation and opposition. The study results generally illustrate that it is natural for men to dance on TikTok because it belongs to all genders. However, it needs to be emphasized that for men, especially in Indonesia, where patriarchal hegemony is still very deep-rooted, it is better if the dances are performed as well, not a dance with graceful movements.

Abstract:
An important role in the functioning of the city and the formation of its center is played by entertainment facilities with concert and theater halls. The purpose of this study is to analyze the experience of designing and building concert halls over the past two decades and to identify current trends in functional planning and architectural and compositional solutions for these facilities. Concert halls continue to be an actual type of building, which is confirmed by the construction of many new modern facilities around the world. In the classification of concert facilities, not only specialized and universal concert buildings are distinguished, but also universal entertainment buildings, as well as multi-purpose buildings designed for concerts and other types of spectacles, including sports and leisure events. As the analysis of the design and construction practice of the last two decades shows, the most common are universal concert and universal entertainment buildings. Specialized concert halls are quite rare, and multi-purpose entertainment facilities have not been built in recent years. Among modern concert buildings there are examples of objects with one auditorium and several halls. The predominant part is made up of multi-hall facilities with 2-4 auditoriums. Large halls are equipped with stages, arena stages, less often with portal deep stages with the possibility of raising and lowering scenery, which is typical for complexes with concert and theater halls. Techniques are used to transform the orchestra pit and the floor of the stalls. A characteristic feature of many modern solutions for concert buildings is the presence of additional accompanying groups of premises – exhibition, museum, educational, information, trade, etc.

Abstract:
Studies have established that comfort level, emotional balance, wellbeing and productivity are linked to the functionality of buildings. Functional buildings, however, require less energy for sustainability purposes. To achieve these advantages, there is a need to seek improvement in the existing stock of buildings or procure newer ones. Seeking improvement connotes reducing building defects/failures and improving occupant-comfort. Dampness plagues both new and old buildings and contributes more than 50% of building envelopes’ defects, discomfort, or failure. This study, therefore, examined dampness in halls of residence in selected tertiary institutions in Lagos metropolis, using the University of Lagos as a case study. The objectives were to evaluate the incidence and causes of dampness in the halls of residence in the institution. As a preliminary assessment of dampness evaluation in halls of residence, the institution used is the University of Lagos, as a case study. This is selected based on its location and proximity. The study population consists of undergraduate and postgraduate halls of residence while the sample frame is undergraduate male hostels. The four undergraduate male hostels are taken as the sample size, using the census as the sampling technique. From the four male halls of residence; eighty rooms and two maintenance staff per block were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Analyses were done using mean, percentage, and relative importance index. The results revealed the presence of the four types of dampness, with dampness from leaking pipes as the most prevalent. The dampness originated from a combination of a host of factors, with those emanating from the negligence of maintenance culture and lack of materials/workmanship consideration as the top two causes. The study concluded that symptoms of the four dampness types are in existence in the four sampled halls of residence and the factors causing dampness are many and allen compassing, but if the issue of maintenance and materials/workmanship are professionally handled, dampness will reduce, hence better comfort and building longevity can be guaranteed. The symptoms of buildings deterioration and defects can be minimised with ease of maintenance and through the use of professionals that are apt in the knowledge of materials and components inter-relationship. The study emphasised the significance of a healthy building and recommended that such should be procured with all hands-on deck and handled by the professionals in the built environment.

Abstract:
In today’s rapidly evolving global market space with growing consumer needs and fierce competition, outsourcing of services is often seen as a tool organizations use to manage resources and capabilities efficiently to maximize gains and performance. The areas under study were the six traditional halls of residence at the University of Cape Coast: VALCO, Oguaa, Nkrumah, Casley Hayford, Atlantic and Adehye Halls. The approach was purely qualitative with a purposive sampling technique. In-depth interviews were conducted with 18 office bearers in the six halls of residence. The purpose of this study is to assess the prospects and challenges of outsourcing at the University of Cape Coast. Therefore, we examined how outsourcing impacts operational strategy, especially on the goals of operations related to cost reduction, improved quality, flexibility and better service. Our findings show that managers of the students’ Halls of Residence believe that outsourcing has great potential not only for cost reduction but also has an impact on other operational objectives that make outsourcing more strategic. Another finding from the study indicates that outsourcing could significantly affect organizational performance, which empirically corroborates aspects that have only been theoretically analyzed previously. From the study, it is found that outsourcing would only make sense if it exerts a positive influence on the various goals of operations and halls of residence performance. It was recommended that, with the great benefit to be derived from the outsourcing mechanism, it should be kept in mind by the policy implementors that it can be implemented shortly.

Abstract:
"Passing" is the most controversial film adaptation by Rebecca Hall (2021) of Nella Larsen's novella (1929) with the same title. The winner of (2022) "Independent Spirit Award" for "Best Cinematography" has achieved unexpected success though it has been produced in black and white. Hence, this article aims to investigate the secret of this success exploring the phenomenon of passing and the color-line problem; their racist implications and camouflaged types. The misunderstanding of the African-American identity and their Double conscious diagnosed by Du Boi has developed different and contrasting shades of inner and outer social conflict in the USA in terms of black and white, submission and rejection, self-satisfaction and self-hatred, staying and passing. The importance of this article then lies in recalling the color-line problem as the main problem of the 20th century which unfortunately seemed to be unsolved in the 21st century through Larsen's literary impressionistic vision and Hall's impressionistic cinematography treatment. Therefore, the researcher has traced the literary impressionist techniques in both Larsen's novella and Hall's film adaptation to expose some personal, social, racial, and political viewpoints that reflect two different generations' visions. Finally, the conclusion has asserted that the color-line problem is ongoing and that the fair fight against racial injustice will not come to an end unless having all these segregation walls demolished inwardly and outwardly.

Abstract:
Iranians invented squinches to cover a square-plan space with a dome. Filposh, a type of squinch first found in Sasanian architecture, is a conical vault constructed in the transition zone’s corners to transmit the dome’s forces and weight. This technique can be seen in three halls of the Sasanian palace of Ardeshir. In this paper, the geometry of the transition zone using filposh squinches between a spherical dome and the square supporting walls in Ardeshir Palace was re-examined. A historical descriptive method was employed to analyse the main drawings of the halls from the nineteenth century to the present, and two hypotheses concerning the geometry of the transition zone were modelled and evaluated. As a result, the hypothesis that the dome’s cross-section intersects the chamber’s square plan is rejected. Furthermore, the claim that the transition zone’s square plan circumscribes the dome’s cross-section was discussed and proven.

This paper investigates new techniques for visualizing 3D impulse responses and two new spatial indicators are proposed: LH (ratio of low lateral versus high lateral energy), FR (ratio of front lateral versus rear lateral energy). Different room shape characteristics are illustrated from B-format measurements conducted in a selection of famous music spaces such as old and new recital and concert halls, and sacred music spaces.

Abstract:
The article highlights comparative research results of milk quality indices obtained from the milking in specialized milking halls with such milking units as «Parallel», «Carousel» or in stalls with the milking unit «Molokoprovid». The fat and protein mass fraction, dry matter and fat-free dry matter, density, titratable and active acidity, heat resistance and freezing point have been determined according to the accepted techniques. The electrical conductivity of milk has been determined by using the analytical device MD-20 MAS-D-TEC. The total amount of milk bacteria has been determined by reductase reduction test and by seeding method in Petri dish. The milk quality has been investigated by the fermentation and rennet fermentation tests. The higher indices of the fat mass fraction, the protein mass fraction and the dry substance concentration of milk, obtained in specialized milking halls, have been established. This is not statistically significant. Milk, obtained from the milking unit «Molokoprovid», has higher index of titratable acidity, lower thermal stability in comparison with milk, obtained from specialized milking halls with milking units «Parallel» and «Carousel». It has been determined that there is the bacteria insemination increase in milk received from milking cows in stalls in comparison with milk, obtained from milking in specialized halls. Milk, obtained from the milking unit «Carousel», indicates the subclinical form of mastitis in cows or «Carousel» operation violationif there is in 1,8 mS/cm conductivity increase above average index 4,6 mS/cm. Key words: technology, quality and safety of milk, milking, milking unit, milking hall, bacterial insemination.

Abstract:
Abstract. The NASA Langley Research Center High Altitude Lidar Observatory (HALO) is a multi-functional and modular lidar developed to address the observational needs of NASA's weather, climate, carbon cycle, and atmospheric composition focus areas. HALO measures atmospheric H2O mixing ratios, CH4 mole fractions, and aerosol/cloud optical properties using the differential absorption lidar (DIAL) and high-spectral-resolution lidar (HSRL) techniques. In 2019 HALO participated in the NASA Atmospheric Carbon and Transport – America campaign on board the NASA C-130 to complement a suite of greenhouse gas in situ sensors and provide, for the first time, simultaneous measurements of column CH4 and aerosol/cloud profiles. HALO operated in 18 of 19 science flights where the DIAL and integrated path differential absorption (IPDA) lidar techniques at 1645 nm were used for column and multi-layer measurements of CH4 mole fractions, and the HSRL and backscatter techniques were used at 532 and 1064 nm, respectively, for retrievals of aerosol backscatter, extinction, depolarization, and mixing layer heights. In this paper we present HALO's measurement theory for the retrievals of column and multi-layer XCH4, retrieval accuracy, and precision including methods for bias correction and a comprehensive total column XCH4 validation comparison to in situ observations. Comparisons of HALO XCH4 to in situ-derived XCH4, collected during spiral ascents and descents, indicate a mean difference of 2.54 ppb and standard deviation (SD) of the differences of 16.66 ppb when employing 15 s along-track averaging (<3 km). A high correlation coefficient of R=0.9058 was observed for the 11 in situ spiral comparisons. Column XCH4 measured by HALO over regional scales covered by the ACT-America campaign is compared against in situ CH4 measurements carried out within the planetary boundary layer (PBL) from both the C-130 and B200 aircraft. Favorable correlation between the in situ point measurements within the PBL and the remote column measurements from HALO elucidates the sensitivity of a column-integrating lidar to CH4 variability within the PBL, where surface fluxes dominate the signal. Novel capabilities for CH4 profiling in regions of clear air using the DIAL technique are presented and validated for the first time. Additionally, profiling of CH4 is used to apportion the PBL absorption from the total column and is compared to previously reported IPDA cloud slicing techniques that estimate PBL columns using strong echoes from fair weather cumulus. The analysis presented here points towards HALO's ability to retrieve accurate and precise CH4 columns with the prospects for future multi-layer profiling in support of future suborbital campaigns.

Abstract:
Biometrics is the automatic identification of individuals based on physiological and behavioral characteristics. In today's technologically advanced digital world, it is regarded as the new digital key. There are two operating modes for biometric systems: identification and verification. The most popular biometric modalities are fingerprints, which are employed in many different industries and professions. Three distinct thinning methods are examined in this study. The proposed work looks into how thinning affects fingerprints, as well as minutiae extraction and texture feature analysis. To improve the quality of the fingerprints, thinning techniques such as Zhang- Suen's, Halls, and Guo Halls have been used. In terms of minutiae extraction, the thinning methods were compared. The minutiae points obtained were used to elaborate on the precision rate of fingerprints after processing. The simulations were run, and the experimental data was examined.

Abstract:
The Brazilian public lighting network is maintained by city halls. To bill the energy provided to city halls, energy distribution companies should maintain an updated database of network poles, their lamp types, and wattages. However, it is common to encounter issues with misinformation, where the company is not notified about changes in the public lighting network by city halls and cannot update its database appropriately. To mitigate commercial losses, companies have resorted to sending teams for manual infrastructure checks, which is an expensive, time-consuming, and unreliable process. In this regard, this work aims to optimize the models proposed in the literature capable of accurately classifying the type and wattage of lamps on public lighting poles based on data collected from radiometric sensors and a professional camera. Data is processed using traditional machine learning and deep learning algorithms, along with more sophisticated validation techniques such as data transformation and hyperparameter optimization to achieve improved results. Based on this methodology, the results demonstrate that models employing more robust algorithms (Support Vector Machine, XGBoost, Random Forest, and Multilayer Perceptron) can attain a final average accuracy of 80-86%. This confirms the usefulness of this methodology as an alternative solution to address the issue of public lighting billing.
