Abstract:
Recognition of hand gestures has great importance for Human-computer interaction (HCI). The human hand is very small with complex junctions compared with the entire human body, hence recognizing the human hand is not an easy task. By using the hand gesture recognition the hand point/coordinates of hands can be detected using which we can make many impossible happens. Our work indicates one such finding, that is, VIRTUAL PAINTER. In our project, the main objective is to display the words on the monitor screen which we write on air in front of the webcam. This is done by recognizing the human hand through the normal webcam of a computer and the hand points are detected using the MediaPipe python library. Using the detected hand points the count of opened fingers is stored. When the index and middle fingers are open it means it is in Selection mode and when only the index finger is open it is in drawing mode. In Selection mode, the colors using which we want to draw can be selected from the list of colors that are made displayed on the screen. In drawing mode, the content that is written in front of the camera on air is drawn on the monitor screen. The application of this implementation can be used in many places where immediate implementation or explanation is needed.

Abstract:
Entomological surveillance is an integral component of surveillance activities for any vector-borne disease. The vector surveillance in a given area shall depend on the laid down objective and keeping in view of the expected outcome. The sampling strategy for vector surveillance shall depend on routine entomological surveillance, outbreak situation and insecticide resistance monitoring. The selection of any sampling strategy and technique should always be kept in mind for its appropriate application depending on the target species. The sampling strategy shall imply that vector surveillance teams are supposed to select different options depending on the short or long term study at hand. The present ongoing operational vector sampling methods usually lack standardisation, quantitative comparisons across different situations in case of outbreak situations and one time measurements, and it makes it difficult to assess the real situation. The sampling strategy should always meet the requirement of the laid objectives to fulfil the desired outcome. The present document is an attempt to act as a guiding principle for use as appropriate sampling strategy for any vector-borne diseases in the country.

Abstract:
The purpose of the current study was to determine the accuracy of a given heated dorsal hand vein (HDHV) measurement in predicting a simultaneous arterial measurement and to validate this technique for use in stable isotope studies. Twenty catheterizations of the femoral artery, femoral vein, and a dorsal hand vein were performed in 13 healthy male subjects. Simultaneous blood samples were obtained from all three sites during primed continuous infusions of L-[1-13C]leucine (Leu) and L-[ring-2H5]phenylalanine (Phe) in the postabsorptive state, with or without intravenous glucose infusion. Relationships were examined by linear regression analysis, with 95% prediction intervals for femoral arterial values determined using the HDHV-derived values as independent variable. Glucose concentrations and isotopic enrichments of ketoisocaproate (KIC), Leu, and Phe were similar in HDHV- and arterial-derived blood, with slopes between 0.9414 and 1.0008, intercepts not different from zero, and r2 values of 0.7613 or greater (P < 0.05). Intercepts for KIC, Leu, and Phe concentrations all were different from zero (P < 0.05), and slopes ranged between 0.7560 and 0.8625. For each analysis the HDHV sample correlated better with the femoral arterial sample than with the femoral venous sample. These data support the use of HDHV sampling as a surrogate for direct arterial sampling but document significant limitations in the technique.

Abstract:
This paper presents optimum sampling levels in discard sampling programs considering cost and precision objectives simultaneously and explores their dependence on both variables. The analysis is based on the Irish discard program: an onboard-observer voluntary sampling scheme aimed at estimating discard rates in trawl fisheries. Multistage analysis was performed to establish the precision levels achieved in the past, and a cost function was determined to estimate the financial cost of the program. Gear, fishing ground, targeted species, and International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) divisions were the main factors affecting discarding, together with random effects of the three nested groups considered: haul, trip, and vessel. Reductions in the present budget will imply only marginal decreases in precision, although changes in cost variables can have an impact on sampling levels. On the other hand, increasing the target precision by one-half will imply a considerable increase in sampling and associated cost, which will be difficult if not impossible to achieve. Finally, the analysis by fleet components suggests a marked increase in sampling levels, which emphasizes the importance of clearly stated discard sampling objectives.

Abstract:
Objective. To explore how hand hygiene observer scheduling influences the number of events and unique individuals observed.Design.We deployed a mobile sensor network to capture detailed movement data for 6 categories of healthcare workers over a 2-week period.Setting.University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic medical intensive care unit (ICU).Methods.We recorded 33,721 time-stamped healthcare worker entries to and exits from patient rooms and considered each entry or exit to be an opportunity for hand hygiene. Architectural drawings were used to derive 4 optimal line-of-sight placements for observers. We ran simulations for different observer movement schedules, all with a budget of 1 hour of total observation time. We considered observation times of 1–15, 15–30, 30, and 60 minutes per station. We stochastically generated healthcare worker hand hygiene compliance on the basis of all data and recorded the total unit compliance as it would be reported by each simulated observer.Results.Considering a 60-minute total observation period, aggregate simulated observers captured 1.7% of the average total number of opportunities per day at best and 0.5% at worst. The 1–15-minute schedule captures, on average, 16% fewer events than does the 60-minute (ie, static) schedule, but it samples 17% more unique individuals. The 1–15-minute schedule also provides the best estimator of compliance for the duration of the shift, with a mean standard deviation of 17%, compared with 23% for the 60-minute schedule.Conclusions.Our results show that observations are sensitive to different observers' schedules and suggest the importance of using data-driven approaches to schedule hand hygiene audits.

Abstract:
We study the task of finding good local optima in combinatorial optimization problems. Although combinatorial optimization is NP-hard in general, locally optimal solutions are frequently used in practice. Local search methods however typically converge to a limited set of optima that depend on their initialization. Sampling methods on the other hand can access any valid solution, and thus can be used either directly or alongside methods of the former type as a way for finding good local optima. Since the effectiveness of this strategy depends on the sampling distribution, we derive a robust learning algorithm that adapts sampling distributions towards good local optima of arbitrary objective functions. As a first use case, we empirically study the efficiency in which sampling methods can recover locally maximal cliques in undirected graphs. Not only do we show how our adaptive sampler outperforms related methods, we also show how it can even approach the performance of established clique algorithms. As a second use case, we consider how greedy algorithms can be combined with our adaptive sampler, and we demonstrate how this leads to superior performance in k-medoid clustering. Together, these findings suggest that our adaptive sampler can provide an effective strategy to combinatorial optimization problems that arise in practice.

Abstract:
There are several previously published studies suggesting that different people deposit different quantities of their own DNA on items they handled, so can be considered good or bad shedders. This study aimed to investigate the amount of DNA deposited on sterile plastic tubes handled by the employees in our lab for 15 seconds. In particular, we wanted to test if there are differences in the amount of DNA deposited by dominant versus non-dominant hand. Moreover, we investigated the amount of DNA deposited before, immediately after and 30 minutes after hand washing. In the end, this study compared two sampling techniques, namely wet and dry swabbing, aiming to define the technique that guarantees better recovery of touch DNA. A samples were collected from 6 individuals and analyzed for differences in DNA quantity between the two hands of the same individual, but also between different individuals and different sampling techniques. In general, our preliminary results have shown that there are no significant differences between dominant vs nondominant hand. Consistent differences were observed between individuals regarding their ability to deposit biological material on handled objects. Sampling technique was factor that significantly influenced the amount of recovered DNA, suggesting that wet swabbing recovered higher DNA amounts compared to dry swabbing. Hand washing can be considered efficient anti contaminant measure as it significantly reduces the amount of biological material deposited on handled object. Further studies are needed to confirm our findings, especially those considering quantification of DNA deposited by individuals for prolonged period of time.

Abstract:
Context : A reliable and valid measurement of hand anthropometry is important for designing dimensionally compatible hand tools, gloves and hand-held devices. Hand grip strength is accepted as an objective index for the functional integrity of upper extremity. The estimation of hand grip strength is of immense importance in determining the efficacy of different treatment strategies, treatment outcome and hand rehabilitation. The present study was planned to determine the various dimensions of hands, average hand grip strength of adult Bangladeshi female garment workers and the relationship between hand grip strength and different anthropometric measurements of hand. Material and Methods: Two hundred female garment workers of 20-25 years of age were selected by purposive non-random sampling from five different garment factories of Dhaka and Narayangonj city. Different dimensions of both hands were measured directly with the help of digital slide caliper and flexible wire. Hand grip strength of both hands was measured by Smedley’s Hand Grip Strength Dynamometer. Result : Body height, weight, BMI, hand length and hand breadth of adult Bangladeshi garmentsworkers showed positive correlation with hand grip strength, but only significant positive correlation was found between hand length and grip strength of right hand (r=+0.197, P<0.05) and left hand (r=+0.405, P<0.001). Abstract:
Hand washing compliance is still relatively low. Efforts are needed to improve the quality of health and welfare, one of which is through education on the habit of hand washing with soap (HWWS). The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of play therapy using quartet media on knowledge, attitudes and practices of hand washing in school-aged children aged 9-12 years. This study employed a quasi-experimental one group pre-test-post-test method conducted at Banyumas Hospital. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with a sample of 55 respondents. The research instruments occupied were a knowledge questionnaire, an attitude questionnaire, and an observation sheet for the practice of washing hands with soap. Data were analysed using the Wilcoxon test. The results revealed that knowledge, attitudes, and practices of washing hands with soap increased after being given play therapy using a quartet. The Wilcoxon test result obtained was a significance value (p) on the effect of playing therapy using quartet media, namely knowledge p = 0.000, attitude p = 0.000, and practice p = 0.000. Play therapy using quartet media has a significant influence on knowledge, attitudes, and practices of washing hands with soap.

Abstract:
AbstractThis paper investigates the boundaries of the recent result that eliciting more than one estimate from the same person and averaging these can lead to accuracy gains in judgment tasks. It first examines its generality, analysing whether the kind of question being asked has an effect on the size of potential gains. Experimental results show that the question type matters. Previous results reporting potential accuracy gains are reproduced for year-estimation questions, and extended to questions about percentage shares. On the other hand, no gains are found for general numerical questions. The second part of the paper tests repeated judgment sampling’s practical applicability by asking judges to provide a third and final answer on the basis of their first two estimates. In an experiment, the majority of judges do not consistently average their first two answers. As a result, they do not realise the potential accuracy gains from averaging.

Abstract:
Hand and nasal samples of flight-catering staff were collected from 1995 to 1997 to find employees carrying Staphylococcus aureus. Altogether 153 hand samples and 136 nose samples were taken. Nasal sampling showed a higher prevalence of S. aureus among food handlers (29%) than hand sampling (9%). A high proportion of the strains (46%) were enterotoxigenic, and a considerable amount of food handlers carried enterotoxigenic S. aureus, 6% and 12% according to hand and nasal sampling, respectively. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis macrorestriction profiles revealed a total of 32 different types associated with the 35 employees carrying S. aureus. In most cases, the same type colonized both the hand and nose of a person. Despite the wide variety of types found, one strain colonized five persons and the second most common strain was associated with four food handlers. The predominant toxin produced was B, which was produced by the most common strain. The results showed that nasal sampling is a good way to detect S. aureus carriers, whereas hand sampling may fail to reveal carriers. The high proportion of enterotoxigenic strains show that a food handler harboring S. aureus must be considered a potential source of enterotoxigenic strains for airline meals.

This type of research is analytic with a cross sectional approach which is carried out by collecting data through questionnaires. Sampling with the Total Sampling technique as many as 25 respondents. Data processing with chi square test. Statistical tests show that of the 25 respondents in Sei Kera Hilir II Medan, there are 16 respondents (64%) who have good knowledge about the importance of implementing mandatory hand washing areas, 7 respondents (28%) who have sufficient knowledge about the importance of implementing mandatory hand washing areas and 2 respondents (8%) who have less knowledge about the importance of implementing mandatory hand washing areas. There are 9 respondents (36%) who have good personal hygiene behavior, there are 14 respondents (56%) who have sufficient personal hygiene behavior and there are 2 respondents (8%) who have poor personal hygiene behavior. From the results of the statistical test, the p value = 0.005 or <0.05. So from these results, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This shows that there is a relationship between the knowledge variable about the application of the mandatory hand washing area and the personal hygiene behavior of employees in Sei Kera Hilir II Village in 2021. There is a significant relationship between the application of the mandatory hand washing area and personal hygiene behavior.

Abstract:
Shannon’s sampling theorem is one of the most important results of modern signal theory. It describes the reconstruction of any band-limited signal from a finite number of its samples. On the other hand, although less well known, there is the discrete sampling theorem, proved by Cooley while he was working on the development of an algorithm to speed up the calculations of the discrete Fourier transform. Cooley showed that a sampled signal can be resampled by selecting a smaller number of samples, which reduces computational cost. Then it is possible to reconstruct the original sampled signal using a reverse process. In principle, the two theorems are not related. However, in this paper we will show that in the context of Non Standard Mathematical Analysis (NSA) and Hyperreal Numerical System R, the two theorems are equivalent. The difference between them becomes a matter of scale. With the scale changes that the hyperreal number system allows, the discrete variables and functions become continuous, and Shannon’s sampling theorem emerges from the discrete sampling theorem.

Abstract:
Background: Hand washing is one of the actions to clean hands and fingers to reduce nosocomial infections. Correct and appropriate nurse’s behavior in carrying out hand washing determines the adequate hand washing. Objective: This study purpose was to determine the perceptions of the nurse to implement five moments of hand washing. Methods: The study design used a description. Sampling used in this study was 20 respondents. The perceptions were measured by questionnaire. The statistical test data was analyzed using univariate. Results: The study results showed that the majority of respondents had a good perception (75%), while a small number of respondents had a fairly good perception (25%). Conclusion: The nurse's perception of carrying out the five moments of hand washing in the emergency room at Unipdu Medika Hospital was good. Hence, doing the correct hand washing procedure can prevent nosocomial infections.

Abstract:
Abstract For the stone crayfish, a threatened species listed in the Habitats Directive in Annex II and V, three monitoring methods were evaluated: hand capture by day, hand capture by night and eDNA sampling respectively. The lack of a standardized sampling method in Austria and the simultaneous obligation to monitor and report on the status of protected species requires therefore an evaluation of the different techniques. However, data show that day sampling massively favored the observation of juveniles whereas night sampling obtained higher shares of adults and males. Moreover, organic layer primarily determines the applicability of hand capturing methods. If the share of organic layer exceeded 40%, night sampling was more effective. In brooks with low amount of organic layer, no notable divergences were found. eDNA sampling provided reliable presence-absence data but cannot fully replace hand capturing methods. Data indicate that eDNA detectability depends probably on the discharge level. Below 1.5 L·s-1 eDNA detection failed but provided reliable results in sections with a higher discharge regime. In summary, all three methods are appropriate for crayfish surveillance programs, but must be applied according to the sampling design appropriate for the research questions and with an awareness of their strengths and weaknesses.
