Hadj, Abdelkader Mohammed Amine. "Interfaces haptiques en tâches de contrôle pour personnes handicapées moteurs." Thesis, Metz, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011METZ028S/document.
Full textThis work lies within the general framework of the driving assistance for people with motor disabilities and proposes to address this issue experimentally on a real system, with emphasis on the optimization of the human–machine cooperation. The objective of this thesis consists especially in the implementation and the assessment of a haptic interface for the control of a powered wheelchair for people with motor disabilities. The interfaces used for this purpose are the force feedback joystick sidewinder2™ and the haptic device phantom omni™. Moreover, the use of a laser range sensor allows gathering information about the wheelchair environment. We use ergonomic efficiency measures such as the tasks execution time, the errors and the workload in order to establish criteria for evaluating our system. The methodology and the practical aspects of this study are exposed, justified and discussed based particularly on the research work described in the literature about the use of haptic interfaces to control robotic and / or remote controlled systems. The evaluation of such a system aims to compare the driving performance of a powered wheelchair controlled by a force feedback device compared to a conventional control. The results are statistically analyzed. A theoretical study is also proposed based on the modelling of the driver-vehicle system and conclusions about the validity and relevance of the tested models are presented

Full textOur study reports on the problem of dynamic situations processing (recognition, prediction and learning) evolving in a complex and unknown environment. This study is mainly applied in the mobile robotic field. The objective is to discharge the user from the constraints of the wheelchair control by assisting him in the reproduction of routes frequently employed. The reproduction of a route already carried out requires the recognition of the new route employed. In general the recognition of this type of situations is based on two principal approaches : a recognition based on one of several models or a recognition by re-use of experiments in the field of the case-based reasoning. We have proposed during this thesis two approaches of route recognition. In the first approach, the recognition of a new route is based on Petri nets. In the second approach, the route recognition is based on similarity evaluation between the new taken route and those already carried out. Petri nets elaboration requires in general knowledge of the domain. The difficulty is that we don’t have models of routes description because on one hand we don’t use the environment maps and on the other hand it is impossible to predict from the beginning of a new displacement directions to be followed and behaviors to be carried out by the wheelchair. Hence, we have started with an initial learning. This steps corresponds to the environment exploration where a set of routes are taken for every displacement. The routes taken during the initial learning are then classified in order to compute a representative for every set of routes carried out for the same displacement. The last step of the proposed reasoning consists in modeling each each by a Petri net. The models are used during the new route recognition in order to predict the future wheelchair behaviors. In the first proposed approach, the route recognition is based on Petri nets. The new route learning is carried out only during the environment exploration. Models don’t evolve because the new not recognized routes are not taken into account. Hence, a new approach has been proposed during the second part of our work. In this approach, the new route recognition is based on a similarity evaluation between the new taken route and those already carried out. An algorithm of automatic learning of new routes is proposed so that they are used during the future reasonings. A strategy of memory maintenance is also proposed allowing the improvement of the system performances

Full textThis study deals with the progress of protection by the state of handicapped children-and notably of physically handicapped children-from roman times to the present day and highlights the forces that have shaped this evolution. The study only takes into account the legislation in england and wates. The first part shows the growind interest of the government for these children and the forms it took: first in matters of social aid, then from the end of the 19th century in the form of schooling, thus following the development of free state education. The second part deals with the education of handicapped children from the mid 19th century to the present day. The major issue is the integration of these children into ordinary schools and the means that have been used over the last thirty years to achieve that aim, taking into account both the evolution of society and the nature of the handicaps the bird part deals with the financial aid granted by the state to the familles of handicapped children;it analyses the events that led to the acknowledgement by the state of the greater needs of these families and the forms of the aid. An account is given of state aid today. The conclusion reviews the various forces that will shape the life of handicapped children in the 1990s: european organisations 'ec oecd)and associations of handicapped people

Full textDThe research works presented in this thesis relate to analysis, design, development and evaluation of text input methods for small screen, usable in various interaction situations and for different user profiles. Firstly, we proposed a new gestural interaction based method taking into account gesture planning, message encoding strategy and underlying linguistic codes. As part of design for all, we adapted our proposal for people with motor disabilities. Secondly, we proposed two techniques for an optimized text entry with interface based keys in order to improve key selection. One corresponds to "linguistic zoom" offering the keys likely to be selected at the next entry. The second solution is a "semantic zoom" taking into account the cursor position of pointing device, the space layer and the content layer of entry interface based keys. We finally proposed an interaction technique, outside the scope of conventional GUIs. This solution is to augment the interaction interface by third dimension, allowing to reduce the distance travelled by pointing device and to increase target size at the same time

Full textStarting from Roger Dorey's point of view, deiîning the mastery as a way to deny alterity by attempting to destroy the other 's wish, we aim to analyze the relationship between the physically handicapped child and the caring adult, in a rehabilitation institution. Among our hypotheses, we favor the idea that the child dependence and the intensive medical and physiotherapeutic managements in institution are particularly prone to induce mastery in the relationship. We will investigate the implications of the child wish of mastery of the other and his wish to escape from mastery during repeated rehabilitation, care, therapeutic and educational sessions. We mainly place ourselves on the child side by analyzing material from clinical sessions. But we will also take into account the counter-transference experience of the therapist. This will allow us to investigate the importance of the therapist wish of mastery during therapy, particularly in view of the idealization of his therapeutic role. First, we will analyze to what extent the instinct to master is driven by the wish to establish a delusive fusion relationship, corresponding to primary homosexuality. We will then analyze the role of mastery in the child oedipean organization, particularly with regard to rivalry and castration anxiety. Finally, we will consider the possibility that both the search for and the submission to mastery may be manifestations of death instinct

Full textThroughout this research which falls within the framework of an intercultural dimension, as far as it has for ground of observation the Moroccan and French societies, we tried to verify if, on one hand, the physically handicapped persons, as a cultural strength and full citizens, had their place in society and, on the other hand, how the agents of socialization and the socioeconomic and cultural actors, can play a leading role, through sport and the various related activities, in the promotion of the creative potential of the disabled people, both morally, materially and culturally in the present context of globalization. Finally, this comparative study is led in two culturally different, but complementary countries: Morocco, a country of North Africa where we can find cultures and faiths that forge specific social representations of the handicaps, and France, a country of Western Europe. The study adopts both diachronic and synchronic approachs in the explanation of the sense of the physically handicapped people's social integration, of social representations of the handicap, of sport culture and the numerous challenges with which these persons are confronted today

Full textIn this report you'll first find the goals and specific characteristics of the V. A. H. M. Project. This project meets the needs of motor impaired people as far as aid for navigation is concerned. Indeed it's very difficult, not to say impossible for some motor impaired people to pilot usual wheelchair because of ill-suited sensors, because motor impaired people get tired very quickly. . . . Our studies are mainly based on the importance of the man/machine cooperation. Furthermore we have defined a online evaluation method of the man/machine system which won't impede the pilot of the wheelchair. This method is based on the calculation of evaluation criteria including the robot technical capacities as well as physical and mental elements of the pilot workload, an essential notion to evaluate the man/machine system. We obtained these criteria from spy files recorded during tests made on able-bodied people. Finally our studies underline the usefulness of helping navigation for impaired people, using the qualitative and quantitative observations we made during the first clinical evaluation of the V. A. H. M. . From then on we started thinking of a way to create a module to help the wheelchair user to choose the best control mode of the mobile base according to the environment and the man/machine system
