 The main aim of this article is to present the genesis, instruments and real influence of the concept of the “realistic” détente policy of the German Minister of Foreign Affairs Hans-Dietrich Genscher on the foreign policy of the German federal government in the years 1974-1989. The author formulates a thesis that Genscher’s concept had very significant influence on the program activities of the FDP as well as on the practical foreign policy of the SPD/FDP governments (1974-1982) and CDU/CSU/FDP governments (1982-1989), whereby the year 1985 was an important turning point in this evolution.

Abstract:
Early in April 1945 a little collection of political prisoners, including a British secret agent, a Russian air force officer and a German general, were driven by their guards across the diminishing face of the Third Reich. Among them was the thirty-nine year old theologian, Dietrich Bonhoeffer. It was curious company for a German pastor. Bonhoeffer had joined the group at Buchenwald concentration camp on 7 February. In April he and his new friends were moved to Regensburg, and from there to Schönberg. On 8 April 1945 Bonhoeffer was abruptly separated from the other prisoners. As he was about to leave, he turned to the British agent, Captain Payne Best, and said a few words. The next day he was hanged at Flossenburg with the former head of German Military Intelligence, Admiral Canaris, and Colonel Hans Oster. An SS doctor saw the execution, and was struck by the religious devotion, and the spiritual trust, of the victim.

Seine intellektuellen Stichwortgeber waren dabei, so Töppel nach beeindruckend umsichtiger Recherche, vor allem Houston Stewart Chamberlain, Heinrich Claß, Theodor Fritsch, Dietrich Eckart, Hans F.K. Over a century ago Eduard Dietrich noted that Æfric, pupil of Bishop Æthelwold and educated at Winchester, consistently used certain words (e.g. ælfremed, (ge)gearcian, (ge)fredan) in preference to synonyms (e.g. fremde, (ge)gearwian, (ge)felan) commonly found in other writers. The small number of words given by Dietrich as characteristic of Æfric's usage has been increased as a result of some lexical studies of more recent date. Karl Jost, for example, notes, among several other peculiarities of his vocabulary, Æfric's exclusive use of behreowsian and behreowsung instead of their synonyms hreowsian and hreowsung. Hans Schabram's study of the Old English terminology for superbia shows that Ælfric's language displays a remarkable uniformity in the almost exclusive choice of modig and its derivatives. One of the results of Elmar Seebold's work on the Old English equivalents for sapiens and prudens is to show that Ælfric always employed snotor and snotornes to express the concepts ‘prudens’ and ‘prudentia’. Furthermore, in his study of the Old English vocabulary for corona, Josef Kirschner argues that Ælfric's almost exclusive use of wuldorbeag for corona in a figurative-religious sense (e.g. ‘corona vitae aeternae’, ‘corona martyrii’) suggests a deliberate attempt to standardize vocabulary.

Phenomenologists turn to Augustine to remedy the neglect of life, love, and language in the Cartesian cogito: (1) concerning life, Edmund Husserl appropriates Augustine’s analysis of distentio animi, Edith Stein of vivo, and Hannah Arendt of initium; (2) concerning love, Max Scheler appropriates Augustine’s analysis of ordo amoris, Martin Heidegger of curare, and Dietrich von Hildebrand of affectiones; (3) concerning language, Ludwig Wittgenstein appropriates Augustine’s analysis of ostendere, Hans-Georg Gadamer of verbum cordis, and Jean-Luc Marion of confessio. Phenomenology’s non-Cartesian Augustinianism can tell us something about phenomenology, namely that it is engaged in the project of recontextualizing the cogito, and something about Augustine, namely how radically different his project is than Descartes’s. Phenomenology presents an Augustine that is well positioned for the debates of our times concerning mind and world, desire and the human person, and language and embodiment.

Sobre o sentido do tato é um esboço (Skizze) escrito por Herder em 1769, e reconstruído por Hans Dietrich Irmscher em 1960. Nele, o autor propõe-se investigar a importância epistemológica, estética e metafísica do tato. Assim, na medida em que desenvolve suas reflexões, acaba por se opor ao pensamento de autores como Winckelmann, Condillac, Mendelssohn e Leibniz. O esboço pode ser divido em quatro momentos: no primeiro, é tematizado o potencial cognitivo do tato de acessar as forças formadoras do corpo e do universo. No segundo, o autor discute a formação do universo a partir da conexão entre Deus e os conceitos de espaço, tempo e força. Depois, é abordado a dinâmica conflituosa e mortal das forças de atração e repulsão no universo. Por fim, ele se debruça sobre a questão da imortalidade da alma e sua relação com o conceito de força.

AbstractAls der Bundessicherheitsrat unter Kanzler Helmut Schmidt im Frühjahr 1982 neue Politische Grundsätze für den Rüstungsexport verabschiedete, wurde eine geheime Protokollnote angenommen, die als Israel-Klausel firmierte. Sie gab vor, dass bei Entscheidungen zur Waffenausfuhr „auch die geschichtliche Verantwortung der Deutschen gegenüber dem jüdischen Volk berücksichtigt wird“. Hintergrund war der Wunsch Saudi-Arabiens, Hunderte Leopard 2-Panzer zu erwerben, der in Bonn eine monatelange Kontroverse ausgelöst und zu einer tiefen Krise der deutsch-israelischen Beziehungen geführt hatte. Hubert Leber untersucht den Panzer-Streit von 1981/82 erstmals auf Basis deutscher wie israelischer Regierungsakten und verknüpft dabei Internationale Geschichte mit vergangenheitspolitischen Perspektiven. Das Verantwortungspostulat, das sich die Bundesregierung auf Initiative von Außenminister Hans-Dietrich Genscher zu eigen machte, markierte eine Zäsur für die Bonner Israel-Politik. Galt im Umgang mit dem jüdischen Staat bis dahin eine Art Verjährungsparadigma, so wurde die Erinnerung an den Holocaust zu Beginn der 1980er Jahre als dauerhaft wirksamer Faktor deutschen Regierungshandelns anerkannt.

Protokolle von Balintgruppenstunden sind auch in der verkürzten Form von Vignetten kleine, aber nicht ganz unwesentliche Gedächtnisstützen.Pars pro toto werden in diesen Beitrag ein ausführliches Protokoll von den 24. Wartburggesprächen (2016) und Vignetten von den 25. Wartburggesprächen (2017) aufgenommen und diskutiert. Die Erinnerungsarbeit unserer Wartburggespräche reicht weiter zurück. Die ersten Wartburggespräche fanden bald nach der Vereinigung beider Deutschlands unter der Schirmherrschaft des damaligen Außenministers Hans Dietrich Genschers auf der Wartburg statt (1992). An diesen Wartburggesprächen nahmen nur Ärzte, Ärztinnen und ein Patient teil. Später kamen Studierende der Medizin hinzu und Psychologen, Philosophen, Lehrer und Theologen [1,2]. Die Balintgruppen bei den Wartburggesprächen sind in den umfassenderen Themenkomplex des Salutogenese Konzeptes von A. Antonovsky, B. Maoz(1,2)eingebettet. Controversy arose in the mid-1990s when Russian officials accused Western governments of reneging on binding pledges made to Moscow in 1990 during German unification diplomacy. According to the allegations, Western leaders had solemnly promised that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) would never expand beyond Germany into Central and Eastern Europe. Were such pledges ever made? Was the Soviet Union betrayed, and if so, by whom, how, and when? Or have various tactical comments been misinterpreted in hindsight? This article seeks to offer new answers to these questions by exploring not simply U.S.-Soviet-West German triangular diplomacy in 1990 but also the evolution of different approaches, ideas, and visions regarding Germany's security arrangements and the wider European security architecture. These ideas were floated publicly and privately, at home and abroad, by Chancellor Helmut Kohl, Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher, and other senior West German officials. In showing how ultimately a “unified Germany in NATO” came about after months of intense diplomacy in 1990 to resolve the “German question,” this article refutes the recently made claim that the extension of full membership to the whole of Germany was a precedent-setting expansion of NATO.

Årets årgang af Dansk Teologisk Tidsskrift består af to dobbeltnumre. Med dette bind foreligger det første. Det er i sagens natur mere omfattende end normalt. Næste dobbeltnummer følger inden for overskuelig tid. Ud over den utraditionelle nummering følger Dansk Teologiske Tidsskrift sin traditionelle redaktionelle stil. Vi bringer fem artikler, der dækker alle teologiens discipliner og behandler såvel nye teologiske spørgsmål som gamle spørgsmål på en ny måde.
 Første artikel af Jan Dietrich omhandler moralsk realisme i Det Gamle Testamente eller den Hebraiske Bibel, som man rettelig bør sige, når man ikke ønsker at anvende det kristne perspektiv på denne skriftsamling. Dietrich tager udgangspunkt hos Platon og stiller spørgsmålet, om det gode er godt i sig selv; eller det er godt, fordi Gud siger, at det er godt? Hvordan forholder Gud sig til det i den første del af Bibelen?Efter eksegesen kommer kirkehistorien. Mette Birkedal Bruun præsenterer sin store disputats om Armand-Jean Rancé og hans reform af cistercienserklosteret La Trappe. Rancés asketiske program indebar en isolation fra samfundet, men samtidig foregik en ret intens udveksling med den omgivende verden. Det dynamiske forhold mellem tilbagetrækning og engagement er temaet for hendes undersøgelse.I den næste artikel præsenteres diakonien som et nyt fagområde inden for dansk teologi. Med anledning i kandidatuddannelsen i diakonived Aarhus Universitet præsenterer Jakob Egeris Thorsen det faglige felt både nationalt og internationalt.De to sidste bidrag omhandler på forskellig vis Søren Kierkegaard. Det første af Anne Louise Nielsen afdækker en teologi hos Kierkegaard. Det er et gammelt spørgsmål, om Kierkegaard overhovedet kan siges at have fremlagt en teologi. Artiklen argumenterer for, at der faktisk foreligger en teologi i Filosofiske Smuler, som kan karakteriseres som en tilblivelsens teologi. Den sætter forfatteren i relation til nyere teologiske positioner.Den sidste artikel læser Lykke-Per på baggrund af Søren Kierkegaards Sygdommen til Døden. Dermed afdækkes, at Henrik Pontoppidanhar været langt mere influeret af Søren Kierkegaards tanker, end man ellers har været opmærksom på. Romanens hovedperson, Per Sidenius, er visse steder fortvivlet på en måde, som bedst forstås gennem Kierkegaards definitioner.Til dette nummer er der god grund til at ønske god læselyst.

Abstract:
Born in 1936, Klaus Kinkel is a representative of Germany’s Free Democratic Party (FDP). Among the leaders of that party, Walter Scheel and Hans-Dietrich Genscher may have won greater popularity, but even so, Kinkel also exerted an influence on the liberals’ policy line, primarily by means of the Wiesbaden Declaration. Working closely with Genscher, Kinkel amassed the experience of which he would avail himself in leading the FDP, in holding office as the Federal Minister of Justice and, subsequently, in heading the Federal Foreign Office. With his education as a lawyer, Kinkel demonstrated an adroitness and professionalism in carrying out his duties. He gained no renown for charisma and leadership skills, but neither did he ever become implicated in any scandals.The article presents Kinkel’s path into politics. As a politician, it was not until 1991 that he decided to become a member of the FDP, despite having worked with Genscher since 1968. Because he was the Federal Minister of Justice during the unification of the two Germanys, he was responsible for the restoration of the rule of law in the Eastern part of the new state. Then, on assuming Genscher’s former duties at the Federal Foreign Office, he pointed to the new role to be played by diplomacy following the collapse of the Cold War.
