Abstract:
Abstract 2,3,5,6-Tetrafluoro-1,4-diiodobenzene and 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine co-crystallize in 1:2 stoichiometry. A diffraction experiment at standard resolution was already conducted in 2010 and revealed one of the shortest N···I contacts ever reported. We collected X-ray intensities at 100 K up to a very high resolution of 1.23 Å−1. These experimental data allowed to refine a structure model based on atom-centered multipoles according to the Hansen-Coppens approach and provided an experimental electron density. A subsequent analysis with the help of Bader’s atoms in molecules theory showed a strong interaction between the pyridine N atom and the σ hole of its closest iodine neighbor on the halogenated benzene. This contact is characterized by a distance of 2.6622(4) Å and associated with a remarkably large electron density of 0.359(5) e⋅Å−3 in the (3, −1) critical point, unprecedented for a secondary interaction. This bona fide shortest halogen bond ever investigated by an experimental charge density study is associated with a significantly negative total energy density in the bond critical point and thus can reliably be classified as strong. Both the electron density and the position of the bond critical point suggest to compare the short N···I contact to coordinative or covalent bonds rather than to σ hole interactions.

Abstract:
Experimental charge density study has been carried out for Cyclotrimethylene-trinitramine (space group Pbca), an explosive material from a low temperature X-ray diffraction experiment. The electron density was modeled using the Hansen-Coppens multipole model and refined to R=0.032 for 6226 unique observed reflections. The electron density, laplacian and electrostatic potential distributions are reported and discussed, especially, the properties of the bond (3,-1) critical points, which are thought to play a key role in the decomposition of the molecule. From the bond topological analysis of all the bonds, it is observed that the N–N bond is the weakest. The dominating nature of the oxygen atoms was clearly well understood from isosurface electrostatic potential of isolated and symmetrically sitting molecules in the crystal.

Abstract:
The first part of the paper, “The Freeze,” restates the simplified Keynesian framework of fiscal activism pioneered by Jargen Pedersen (1937) and Alvin H. Hansen (1941). The framework is a macroeconomic model in which investment, the bond supply, price, the money wage rate, and the rate of interest are all frozen. Using government purchase and the tax rate as its policy instruments the paper solves the model and finds its fiscal multipliers.

Kumric, Dennis, and Rayan Chowdhury. "Liability of foreignness vid internationalisering via e-handeln : En kvalitativ flerfallsstudie om vad liability of foreignness innebär för born globals vars internationalisering sker via e-handeln." Thesis, Uppsala universitet, Företagsekonomiska institutionen, 2021. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:uu:diva-447912.

Full text
Abstract:

Lin, Therese. "Modelling Swedish bond market activity : A liquidity proxy using potential and executed trades." Thesis, KTH, Industriell ekonomi och organisation (Inst.), 2020. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:kth:diva-284796.

Full text
Abstract:
Bond markets are crucial for the stability and efficiency of the national financial system. Low liquidity prevents market developments and makes investors reluctant to trade actively. It is therefore crucial to maintain liquidity in bond markets. This thesis aims to investigate investor activity and liquidity in the Swedish government and mortgage bond markets. By creating indices using a combination of public trading data (actual trades) and private trading data (potential trades) to measure investor activity, a new liquidity proxy is created. The indices capture two aspects of investor activity, both the quantity of the bonds as well as the trading frequency. High levels of activity imply a liquid market and low levels of activity imply a lack of liquidity. Since Swedish and international investors are exposed to different risks even when investing in the same market, this thesis has segmented investors into four groups: Swedish investors in the government bond market, Swedish investors in the mortgage bond market, foreign investors in the government bond market and foreign investors in the mortgage bond market. To further understand the driving factors of market activity, regression analysis is conducted. From the existing literature a total of 11 potential explanatory variables have been identified. Due to the various market conditions in each investor group, it is no surprise that the variables influence the groups differently. Bond market return, short term interest rate and term risk structure are found to be highly significant for all investor groups. Moreover, stock market return and macroeconomic news are identified to be relevant variables when explaining shifts in investor behaviour. Positive developments in bond and stock market returns boost investor activity, while negative developments halt activity. Short term interest rate and the term risk spread are found to have similar effects, positive influence in the government bond market and negative influence in the mortgage bond market. For international investors, two spreads reflecting Swedish market conditions in relation to international benchmarks are included in the analysis. Both spreads are found to be highly significant, indicating that foreign investors choose to trade in the bond markets with the most desirable conditions.

Abstract:
Abstract:
‘Myth and philosophy’ examines the many positions held on the relationship between myth and philosophy: that myth is part of philosophy, that myth is philosophy, that philosophy is myth, that myth grows out of philosophy, that philosophy grows out of myth, that myth and philosophy are independent of each other but serve the same function, and that myth and philosophy are independent of each other and serve different functions. It considers the theories of the Polish-born anthropologist Paul Radin (1883–1959), the German-born philosopher Ernst Cassirer (1874–1945), the German theologian Rudolf Bultmann (1884–1976), the German-born philosopher Hans Jonas (1903–93), and the French existentialist writer Albert Camus (1913–60).

Full text
Abstract:
The continuing television series Once upon a time (2011 – present) proposes unconventional politics of ‘becoming’ and engages in a discussion on the limits of body and soul, and those of females and animals in particular. The fairy-tale drama pushes fixed definitions of body and presents narratives of continuously inter-transforming characters. In the traditional telling of the story, through the act of cutting her way out of the wolf’s stomach, we see resistance in the character of Red Riding Hood. Once upon a time takes this resistance a step further by putting the wolf inside the girl. This brings out a question which serves as the focus of this chapter: What happens when the wolf is inside the girl? And, additionally: What kind of affects are born from this particular serial and televisual version of Red Riding Hood? Using Deleuze and Guattari’s notions ‘becoming-animal’ and ‘becoming-woman’, the analysis covers the story of mental transformation and corporeal mutation as developed in the episode, Red Handed in order to understand its political and ethical potential as well as its limits in relation to the twenty-first century mental, cultural and socio-political transformation.

Doak, Brian R. Heroic Bodies in Ancient Israel. Oxford University Press, 2019. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780190650872.001.0001.

Full text
Abstract:
The bodies of a people encode and continually retell the story of their families, cities, and nations. In the Hebrew Bible, the bodies of notable heroic figures—warriors, kings, and cultural founders—not only communicate values on an individual level but they also bear meaning for the fate of the nation. The patriarch Jacob, who takes on the name of the nation, “Israel,” engages in an intense bodily drama by way of securing the family blessing and passing on his identity to the Tribes of Israel. Judges is a deeply bodily book: left-handed, mutilating and mutilated, long haired, and fractured like the nation itself, its warriors revel in bodies and violence. The David and Saul drama, throughout 1–2 Samuel, repeatedly juxtaposes the bodies of the two kings and sets them on a collision course. Saul’s body continues to act in strange and powerful ways beyond his death, and in the final episodes of Saul’s bone movement and reburial, the last heroic body goes underground. Thus, Israel’s heroic national body rises and falls on the bodies of its heroes, and the Hebrew Bible takes up a profound place in the ancient literary landscape in its treatment of heroic and body themes.

Abstract:
This book takes an in-depth look at German journalism from the late Weimar period through the postwar decades. Illuminating the roles played by journalists in the media metropolis of Hamburg, the book focuses on the lives and work of three remarkable individuals: Marion Countess Dönhoff, distinguished editor of Die Zeit; Paul Sethe, “the grand old man of West German journalism”; and Hans Zehrer, editor in chief of Die Welt. All born before 1914, Dönhoff, Sethe, and Zehrer witnessed the Weimar Republic's end and opposed Hitler. When the latter seized power in 1933, they were, like their fellow Germans, confronted with the difficult choice of entering exile, becoming part of the active resistance, or joining the Nazi Party. Instead, they followed a fourth path—“inner emigration”—psychologically distancing themselves from the regime, their writing falling into a gray zone between grudging collaboration and active resistance. During the war, Dönhoff and Sethe had links to the 1944 conspiracy to kill Hitler, while Zehrer remained out of sight on a North Sea island. In the decades after 1945, all three became major figures in the West German media. The book considers how these journalists and those who chose inner emigration interpreted Germany's horrific past and how they helped to morally and politically shape the reconstruction of the country. With fresh archival materials, the book sheds essential light on the influential position of the German media in the mid-twentieth century and raises questions about modern journalism that remain topical today.

Abstract:
This paper covers the continuing development and experimental validation of our approach to the design synthesis and control of active devices in dynamic mechanical systems. Active devices, such as electric motors and hydraulic actuators, require an external power input. An innovative feature of this synthesis approach is the use of non-physically realizable elements, i.e., elements that have negative impedances, to model the behavior of an active device. The synthesis method also features the use of bond graphs, as they facilitate modeling of multi-energy systems and devices. The procedure applies to the design or retrofit of systems for which a desired frequency response is prescribed. The overarching goal of the synthesis method is to yield options for the general framework of a controllable, stable, and parameterizable system, using simulation-based techniques. Thus the procedure yields a stable “first draft” of the active device and its control system that can be handed off to respective specialists for further refinement. Simulation results indicate that design possibilities can include purely active devices or a hybrid combination of active and passive elements. In addition, atypical control system architectures, that depart from traditional PI, PD, or PID controllers can arise from the synthesis procedure. We describe validation experiments that use electric motors and rack-and-pinion systems to achieve active control of a quarter-vehicle test article. The results will provide insight into: (1) refining the synthesis procedure to include systems that feature continuous elements, (2) partially automating the synthesis procedure to make it a more versatile design tool, and (3) practical limitations of the synthesis method.

Abstract:
Abstract In situ values of Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio for thermal spray coatings are needed to evaluate properties and characteristics of thermal spray coatings such as residual stresses, in-service stresses, bond strength, fracture toughness, and fatigue crack growth rates. It is important to have methods documented in detail so that people can follow the document and use the methods. Such a document requires more pages than are allowed in conference proceeding and journal papers. Thus, Recommended Practices and Standards describing these methods are needed. Currently, there is not a recommended practice or standard for evaluating Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio for thermal spray coatings. The ASM International Thermal Spray Society has recognized this need and formed a committee on Recommended Practices for Thermal Spray Coatings. This paper describes one of the recommended practices being written by the Mechanical Properties Evaluation Subcommittee of the Recommended Practices Committee. The specimen is a coated substrate in the form of a cantilever beam. The method is easy to use and inexpensive. The equipment needed is a vise or clamping fixture, strain gages, a strain indicator, a micrometer, a ruler, a hanger, and a set of weights. The specimen is easy to machine and spray. The loading is easy to apply and remains constant during readings. The method can be used to evaluate Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio in tension or compression. A description of the method, a verification, and a sensitivity analysis was done and published in Reference [1]. Some of the details of implementing the method and the data sheet are presented here.

Abstract:
Abstract Cementing a highly deviated production liner is associated with cement placement challenge that can compromise zonal isolation. A major operator in UAE, was facing a challenge to cement 4 ½ in slim production liner set at + 5000 ft off-bottom. The corresponding 6 in. section was drilled with a relatively high mud weight in the range of 12 to 13 PPG. One of the main challenge was the risk of solids settling on the low side of the wellbore, making mud displacement difficult to achieve while cementing. Additionally, cementing off-bottom without an ECP in a highly deviated wellbore with multiple exposed production zones, further increased cement placement complexity. A holistic engineering approach was integrated to ensure successful zonal isolation. Wellbore parameters and fluid properties were critically evaluated. To overcome off-bottom cementing and prevent slurry fallback risks, a weighted high viscosity pill with high yield point was placed as a temporary basement to support the cement column and isolate the reservoir during 4 ½ in liner job. After placement of the pill, the wellbore was observed for flow checks to ensure stable downhole conditions prior to displacing the drilling fluid across the liner interval to brine within the same density. A centralization program was implemented to achieve more than 70% stand-off which required a minimum centralization pattern of two rigid centralizers per joint which helped minimize the presence of mud channels on the narrow side. Effective mud removal was ensured through implementation of a spacer train in front of the cement. The first spacer was pumped with same mud density to reduce ECD followed by another advanced low invasion loss circulation spacer to mitigate losses as well as provide a sustained downhole rheology. A resilient, expandable and gas tight cement slurry, was selected to target long-term zonal isolation. Multiple hydraulic simulations were performed to optimize ECDs and ensure safe margins during placement A CFD (computational fluid dynamics) model was utilized to simulate hydraulics, expected mud removal and fluids inter-mixing especially during liner rotation. In addition, the model simulated high-calculated torques based on flow restrictions through liner hanger assembly. Lack of mechanical liner movement was compensated by additional pre-job circulation to fully condition the wellbore. The job was executed with no losses during cementing, and spacer and cement returns were received on the surface during reverse out. Utilizing the best engineering approach, practices, and techniques from this job is implemented in the future wells as the production of the well is directly affected by the cement quality. Post job cement integrity evaluation via a cement bond log confirmed excellent bonding of cement to the liner and reservoirs across the entire open-hole interval.
