<em>Conventional methods for implementing logic programming applications on embedded systems are software- based, requiring a compiler to convert the initial declarative logic program to its equivalent procedural one. This increases the complexity of the final implementation and reduces system performance. However, hardware implementations that only support logic programs prevent their use in applications where logic programs need to be intertwined with traditional procedural ones. We show that skill requirements in job vacancy postings differentially increased in MSAs that were hit hard by the Great Recession, relative to less hard-hit areas. These increases persist through at least the end of 2015 and are correlated with increases in capital investments, both at the MSA and firm levels. We also find that effects are most pronounced in routine-cognitive occupations, which exhibit relative wage growth as well. We argue that this evidence is consistent with the restructuring of production toward routine-biased technologies and the more-skilled workers that complement them

An attempt is made to consider the vocal-performing work of the People’s Artist of Ukraine Tetiana Vierkina in the aspect of the “actual intoning” concept, which was developed in her PhD thesis. “Actual intoning” is interpreted by the researcher not only as the performer’s work, who turned the author’s text into the sound reality, into a living speech utterance, but also as the desire to fill her interpretation with relevant meanings that are significant for the modern era. The scientific work by T. Vierkina, devoted to the problems of in

In the last two and a half centuries, industrialization, propelled by a catalytic impact of free-market capitalism, has been contributing to prosperity and breaking the limits beyond all imagination that during the history inhibited the development of human potential. Unfortunately, neoliberal capitalism, as the last and most extreme variant of free-market capitalism, has shown some hidden fractures. After the Great Recession of 2008, the problems due to inbuilt fault lines and misconceptions erupted to the surface. Over the last two years, marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, the world economy ha

The exploration of new acceleration mechanisms for compactly delivering high-energy particle beams has gained great attention in recent years. One alternative that has attracted particular interest is the plasma-based wakefield accelerator, which is capable of sustaining accelerating fields that are more than three orders of magnitude larger than those of conventional radio-frequency accelerators. In this device, acceleration is generated by plasma waves that propagate at nearly light speed, driven by intense lasers or charged particle beams. Here, we report on the direct visualization of the

Recent advances in urban air mobility have driven the development of many new vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) concepts. These vehicles often feature original designs departing from the conventional helicopter configuration. Due to their novelty, the characteristics of the supervortices forming in the wake of such aircraft are unknown. However, these vortices may endanger any other vehicle evolving in their close proximity, owing to potentially large induced velocities. Therefore, improved knowledge about the wakes of VTOL vehicles is needed to guarantee safe urban air mobility operations.

While a few studies have suggested that self-reported reduced physical activity and sleep-wake cycle disturbances might both be linked to depression vulnerability, actigraphy-based measures in vulnerable samples remain largely unexplored. This study relied on actigraphy-based parameters to test whether these disturbances characterize depression vulnerability. Many traditional ship–rotorcraft interactional simulation approaches, including those used for pilot training, use a one-way coupling between aerodynamics and flight dynamics. In a one-way coupled method, the standalone ship airwake is superimposed on the rotor, modifying its inflow. However, because the rotor wake does not alter the ship airwake and is unaffected by the ship landing deck or superstructure, one-way coupling may not capture all relevant phenomena. Observations of the sphere trajectory in time are made using two orthogonally placed high-speed cameras, yielding the velocity and acceleration vectors through repeated differentiation of the time-resolved trajectories. The novelty of this study is twofold. On the one hand, a methodology is introduced by which the instantaneous forces acting on the sphere can be derived by tracking the sphere trajectory.
