Abstract:
We define a new generalized class of harmonically preinvex functions named harmonically(p,h,m)-preinvex functions, which includes harmonic(p,h)-preinvex functions, harmonicp-preinvex functions, harmonich-preinvex functions, andm-convex functions as special cases. We also investigate the properties and characterizations of harmonically(p,h,m)-preinvex functions. Finally, we establish some integral inequalities to show the applications of harmonically(p,h,m)-preinvex functions.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The proliferation of power electronics equipments generates harmonics distortion problem. Harmonics have many effects to the power system grid and the main limitation of harmonics is heating of power system devices. To monitor and mitigate the harmonics, the source location and the level of harmonics should be known. However, harmonic measurements are costly and is not practical to put harmonic measurement in each location in the grid. Hence, harmonic state estimation is needed. The most common method in harmonic state estimation is singular value decomposition (SVD). A time delay of the measurements can affect the SVD performance, therfore, this paper presents a prediction method based on ARX model and modified normalized least mean square to compensate the time delay measurements. The result shows better performance of the proposed method as compared to least mean square.

Abstract:
Various harmonics exist in the electrical power system, and the harmonics include both integer harmonics and non-integer harmonics. It is hard to analyze all the harmonics accurately. In order to improve the precision of harmonic analysis and the minimum resolution, this paper presents a new algorithm named binary scale time windows FFT based on traditional algorithm. This algorithm considers the calculative time and precision well. The results of the test indicate that this algorithm can both guarantee the accuracy and raise the resolving power in the harmonic analysis without increasing the hardware level and the time of calculation obviously. It can restrain the increasingly serious harmonic pollution in power system effectively.

Abstract:
The current signal harmonic detection method(s) cannot reduce the errors in the analysis and extraction of mixed harmonics in the power grid. This paper designs a harmonic detection method based on discrete Fourier transform (DFT) and discrete wavelet transform (DWT) using Bartlett–Hann window function. It improves the detection accuracy of the existing methods in the low frequency steady-state part. In addition, it also separates the steady harmonics from the attenuation harmonics of the high frequency part. Simulation results show that the proposed harmonic detection method improves the detection accuracy of the steady-state part by 1.5175% compared to the existing method. The average value of low frequency steady-state amplitude detection of the proposed method is about 95.3375%. At the same time, the individual harmonic components of the signal are accurately detected and recovered in the high frequency part, and separation of the steady-state harmonics and the attenuated harmonics is achieved. This method is beneficial to improve the ability of harmonic analysis in the power grid.

Abstract:
Renewable energy are usually connected to the power grid through an inverter. As the penetration level of such inverter-based distribution generation resources increases, PCC point harmonics become an important concern for grid stability and power quality. In this paper, the PCC-point harmonics in a parallel-inverter-based photovoltaic station were measured and some significant characteristics of such harmonics were presented. These harmonics are stationary; the voltage and current waveforms are lower frequency, power correlation and inter-harmonic. And these harmonics are 3-phase symmetric and contain 3rd and 6th harmonic components. The transitions of the PCC harmonic occurrence and vanishing are instantaneous. The analysis indicates that the PCC harmonics are not produced by the resonances related to the linearities of PV inverters but the inverter nonlinearities are the primary reasons. The strategy to eliminate the PCC point harmonics are proposed in this study.

Abstract:
Previous research was mainly concentrated on eliminating the selected lower order harmonics depending on the level of inverter which was assumed to be high. The harmonics may be present even in the higher order also. The analysis of harmonic spectrum by Finite Fourier Transform yields a very accurate result for lower order harmonics. For obtaining accurate Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) value and the harmonic spectrum, inclusion of higher order harmonics is essential. The method for accurate estimation is proposed in this paper. In normal practice, the higher order harmonics present in the output of the inverter are suppressed by using filters. In order to obtain more optimized higher order harmonics, it is necessary to obtain an accurate assessment of the higher order spectrum. The higher order spectrum is predetermined by proposed technique termed as Dual Phase Analysis (DPA) so as to obtain more optimized switching angles with the application of any Optimization Technique. This is an effective tool to analyze the various higher order components of the harmonic spectrum.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a compact rectifier design method for utilizing harmonics. Based on total reflection generated by pure reactance loads at the second harmonic (2nd) and open circuit at the third harmonic (3rd), a compact DC-pass filter is designed to effectively utilize the 2nd and 3rd harmonics excited by the rectifying diode. The amplitudes of the harmonics can be controlled by adjusting the input impedances of the DC-pass filter at harmonics. A prototype operating at 5.8 GHz fundamental frequency is implemented and measured to validate the scenario. When the input power is 18.3 dBm, the measured rectifying efficiency is 71.3%, while the 2nd and the 3rd harmonic amplitudes are −2.4 dBm and 0.1 dBm respectively. This method could also be extended to design a rectifier only utilizing the 2nd or the 3rd harmonic.

Abstract:
The aim of the submitted diploma thesis is the magnitude determination of the headlamp response to the dynamic excitation. Currently it is necessary to measure this response, because it is one of the assessed criteria of quality of the headlamp. When comparing results of the experimental measurement and the computational modelling, a good consensus of resonant frequencies is observed, but there are significant differences in acceleration amplitudes. The cause of this is the variable damping value. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with polymeric materials, basics of oscillation and damping. It serves to understand the mechanisms, which influence the results of the experimental measurement. The practical part is dedicated to the procedure of the computational modelling and the experimental measurement implementation. The analysis of the experimental measurement results leads to an ascertainment of nonlinearities, which influence the headlamp behaviour. The results of a sensitivity analysis of the computational modelling are used to create curves, on the basis of which the damping is estimated. The inclusion of the estimated damping into computational modelling leads to reduction of the compared differences of the acceleration amplitudes. The conclusion of the thesis contains the recommendation for the damping determination during the computational modelling of the headlamp.

This diploma thesis deals with dynamic behaviour of a turbocharger rotor. The subject is a stock turbocharger for commercial vehicles. The research will be mentioned in the first part of the thesis as well as methods of processing. The second, practical part is divided into two divisions. They are both experimental and computational. The aim is finding of rotordynamic behaviour by an experiment and its comparing with a computational model in ANSYS software. Modal and harmonic analysis of a free and fixed subject will be used by both experiment and evaluation. The subject will be fixed where bearings are located during harmonic analysis. All the experimental results will be processed with mathematical and physical methods like FFT analysis or Campbel diagram. There will be two main types of computational models to choose among. These models will be analyzed in detail. The goal of the thesis is to reach results from ANSYS as close as possible with the experimental testing. This includes finding correct material and physical properties, right choice of mesh and right boundary conditions. At the same time the CPU time compared to the model complexity and results accuracy will be considered in a comparison with data obtained by the experiment.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with the vibration and noise of the gearbox for an electric vehicle. The gearbox itself acts as an emitter of unwanted noise caused by vibration excitation of the internal components of the gearbox. It is therefore necessary to deal with a complex unit such as the gearbox at system level as soon as it is being designed. This can be achieved using analytical tools and software. In this thesis, in order to evaluate the validity of the designed gearbox, a procedure is developed using both technical experiment and numerical simulations. The effect of the bolt preload is not overlooked for the following computational modelling dealing with the radiated noise of the gearbox. The results obtained from the performed technical experiments were then evaluated and compared with the results of the computational models. In this way, it is possible to compare the different approaches, their limitations and weaknesses. Furthermore, the thesis deals with design modifications that are analyzed using computational modeling. The thesis is concluded with a brief description of the application of each approach and an evaluation of the gearbox design modifications.

This Diploma thesis deals with methods that increase efficiency of transistor amplifiers. In the first part of the thesis we describe theoretical background of the constructions of power amplifiers. At first we deal with the classical method that is concerned with a change of position of the static operating point. Secondly we cover the multi harmonic manipulation method (MHM). This method is concerned with a proper loading of particular harmonic components and consequential shaping of voltage runs and currents on the collector. In the second part of the work we have constructed the substitutes of particular accesses. Constructed classes are AB, F and FMHM. Basic S parameters and output signal spectrum were measured. We can see from the calculated efficiencies AB = 11%, F = 16% a Fmhm = 18%, big increase of efficiency F and FMHM only by changing output network.

Abstract:
Smart realization involves a steady increase in inverter-based components like Distributed Energy Resources (DER), energy storage systems, and plug-in electric vehicles. The harmonics related to DER inverters and the spread of power electronic devices raises concerns for utilities and customers. Harmonics can create component failures, thermal losses and control system malfunctions. In this paper the authors analyze the impact of multi-source harmonics from DERs inside distribution networks. The harmonics impacts are evaluated by harmonic measurement indices. Harmonic emission in a real distribution circuit is simulated with the help of power flow analysis. The results are presented with visualization techniques to give a better picture of harmonic propagation vs. different levels of harmonic source magnitude and angle. Due to effect of harmonic on network efficiency, a sensitivity analysis considering power factors is conducted.

Abstract:
On the base of experimental data it was revealed that type of wave breaking depends on wave asymmetry against the vertical axis at wave breaking point. The asymmetry of waves is defined by spectral structure of waves: by the ratio between amplitudes of first and second nonlinear harmonics and by phase shift between them. The relative position of nonlinear harmonics is defined by a stage of nonlinear wave transformation and the direction of energy transfer between the first and second harmonics. The value of amplitude of the second nonlinear harmonic in comparing with first harmonic is significantly more in waves, breaking by spilling type, than in waves breaking by plunging type. The waves, breaking by plunging type, have the crest of second harmonic shifted forward to one of the first harmonic, so the waves have "saw-tooth" shape asymmetrical to vertical axis. In the waves, breaking by spilling type, the crests of harmonic coincides and these waves are symmetric against the vertical axis. It was found that limit height of breaking waves in empirical criteria depends on type of wave breaking, spectral peak period and a relation between wave energy of main and second nonlinear wave harmonics. It also depends on surf similarity parameter defining conditions of nonlinear wave transformations above inclined bottom.

Abstract:
Abstract Highly nonlinear extreme waves are the major, often the dominant, environmental load on offshore wind turbines. The higher-order ‘ringing’ loads associated with the nonlinear waves can cause unexpected resonance of the monopile. Hydrodynamic analysis of these harmonic loads remains a challenge due to the difficulty in extracting the bound harmonics from the force spectrum in an extreme wave event. A phase manipulation approach (four-phase combination) has been recently demonstrated to be able to separate the higher harmonic components of the wave loads in tank tests. In this work, we employ a fully nonlinear potential flow based Numerical Wave Tank (NWT) to simulate the wave diffraction by a fixed vertical column. We present a detailed study of our checks on the numerical accuracy of our model. Phase control is implemented for the wavemaker to manipulate the phase of each wave component. Focused wave groups are generated to represent the incoming extreme waves. With the four-phase decomposition, the higher harmonics of the wave loads are shown to be clearly separated. Comparisons with the existing test results show fairly good agreement at higher harmonics. The structure of the harmonic forces and moments are analysed and we reconstruct the higher harmonics based on the Stokes expansion assumption using the linear force. In addition, the effects of wave steepness on the harmonic components are discussed.

Abstract:
Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) calculates integer harmonic components, but ignores other frequency components such as non-integer harmonics and non-harmonics. In a practical sampling problem, the length of a sampled signal is finite and the sampling time is minimized. Therefore, it is necessary for interpolation to improve the accuracy of frequency analysis considering 1/m harmonic components and zero-padding (ZP) technique. The proposed method was applied to a 3D RF profile measurement system and the resolution was improved to 1/m.

Abstract:
It is well known that due to the nonlinearity of the kinematics of linkage mechanisms, their output motion contains harmonics of the input motion. In most mechanisms, the generated high harmonic components in the output motion are the main source of vibration excitation that the mechanism imparts on the overall system, including its own structure. For simple linkage mechanisms such as slider-cranks and four-bar linkage mechanisms, the amplitudes of the harmonics of the output motion for constant input rotation have been derived. In the present study, it is shown that certain relationships exist between the amplitudes of the harmonic of the output motions. In particular, odd and even harmonic amplitudes are shown to be related through an inequality relationship. These relationships are due to the basic characteristics of the linkage mechanisms motions, which are significantly simplified for certain linkage geometries. The relationships between the amplitudes of the output velocity harmonics are derived for slider-crank and four-bar linkage mechanisms.

Abstract:
Harmonic distortions are not new problems in electrical power systems. However, electrical networks have undergone several changes in recent decades, such as the wide range of electronic devices (converters, control devices, etc.), and those equipment produce emission of harmonic currents. The investigation of the contribution of several sources of harmonics in power systems is essential, considering that it is a problem of power quality that cannot be neglected. Thispaper aims to investigate the aggregation of harmonic currents in a 230kV TBE/Eletronorte system. For this, the transmission system was modeled using MATLAB/Simulink software with the typical values provided by TBE. A vectorial analysis was performed for the three-phase system and a sum analyzes of harmonics from different sources on Phase A, to estimate the influence of those current sources on Castanhal and Guama buses, when a harmonic spectrumis present on Vila do Conde and Utinga buses. In both analyzes, a phase angle spectrum of 10 and 20 degrees was applied in the harmonic source of Utinga. The summation analyzes proved to be useful because it can estimate values that harmonic currents can assume, for different conditions, and can be very useful in the planning stage to avoid estimation errors.

Abstract:
Abstract The paper proposes a novel numerical method called coupled time and passage spectral method for an efficient resolution of far upstream wakes in an unsteady analysis of flow field within generic multiple blade rows. The proposed method is a very simple and natural extension of the time spectral form harmonic balance method. By including inter blade phase angle and passage index in a truncated Fourier series, the proposed method is capable of circumventing the limitations of the harmonic balance method in dealing with zero frequency harmonics and time harmonics with same frequency but different inter blade phase angles. Different from the harmonic balance method, which seeks solution at different time instants of the same passage, the coupled spectral method seeks solutions at different passages and time instants. Same as the harmonic balance method, all these solutions are connected via a spectral operator. Coupled time and passage sampling is performed using the modified Gram Schmidt process to choose the time and passage pairs which give the most orthogonal rows of an inverse Fourier transform matrix. The coupled time and passage spectral method requires minimum change to an existing harmonic balance solver. A numerical case study has been provided in the paper to demonstrate the expected capability against the harmonic balance method.

Abstract:
Floquet theory is combined with harmonic balance to study parametrically excited systems with two harmonics of excitation, where the second harmonic has twice the frequency of the first one. An approximated solution composed of an exponential part with unknown exponents and a periodic term consisting of a truncated Fourier series is considered. When applied to a two-harmonic Mathieu equation the analysis shows that the second harmonic alters stability characteristics, particularly in the primary and superharmonic instabilities. We also look at the initial conditions response and its frequency content. The second excitation harmonic in the system with parametric damping is seen to disrupt the coexistence phenomenon which is observed in the single-harmonic case.

Abstract:
Abstract For a given high-speed machinery, a significant source of the internally induced vibrational excitation is the presence of high frequency harmonics in the trajectories that the system is forced to follow. We develop a method for synthesizing a low-harmonic joint trajectory to reduce the potential vibration and related control problems using low-harmonic rational curves. Continuity conditions for these curves are studied and are used to develop a geometric algorithm for designing low-harmonic rational spline curves. Finally, we discuss how these low-harmonic curves may be used for trajectory generation of high-speed machinery with minimal residual vibration.
