Abstract:
The aim of the submitted diploma thesis is the magnitude determination of the headlamp response to the dynamic excitation. Currently it is necessary to measure this response, because it is one of the assessed criteria of quality of the headlamp. When comparing results of the experimental measurement and the computational modelling, a good consensus of resonant frequencies is observed, but there are significant differences in acceleration amplitudes. The cause of this is the variable damping value. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with polymeric materials, basics of oscillation and damping. It serves to understand the mechanisms, which influence the results of the experimental measurement. The practical part is dedicated to the procedure of the computational modelling and the experimental measurement implementation. The analysis of the experimental measurement results leads to an ascertainment of nonlinearities, which influence the headlamp behaviour. The results of a sensitivity analysis of the computational modelling are used to create curves, on the basis of which the damping is estimated. The inclusion of the estimated damping into computational modelling leads to reduction of the compared differences of the acceleration amplitudes. The conclusion of the thesis contains the recommendation for the damping determination during the computational modelling of the headlamp.

Abstract:
This diploma thesis deals with dynamic behaviour of a turbocharger rotor. The subject is a stock turbocharger for commercial vehicles. The research will be mentioned in the first part of the thesis as well as methods of processing. The second, practical part is divided into two divisions. They are both experimental and computational. The aim is finding of rotordynamic behaviour by an experiment and its comparing with a computational model in ANSYS software. Modal and harmonic analysis of a free and fixed subject will be used by both experiment and evaluation. The subject will be fixed where bearings are located during harmonic analysis. All the experimental results will be processed with mathematical and physical methods like FFT analysis or Campbel diagram. There will be two main types of computational models to choose among. These models will be analyzed in detail. The goal of the thesis is to reach results from ANSYS as close as possible with the experimental testing. This includes finding correct material and physical properties, right choice of mesh and right boundary conditions. At the same time the CPU time compared to the model complexity and results accuracy will be considered in a comparison with data obtained by the experiment.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with the vibration and noise of the gearbox for an electric vehicle. The gearbox itself acts as an emitter of unwanted noise caused by vibration excitation of the internal components of the gearbox. It is therefore necessary to deal with a complex unit such as the gearbox at system level as soon as it is being designed. This can be achieved using analytical tools and software. In this thesis, in order to evaluate the validity of the designed gearbox, a procedure is developed using both technical experiment and numerical simulations. The effect of the bolt preload is not overlooked for the following computational modelling dealing with the radiated noise of the gearbox. The results obtained from the performed technical experiments were then evaluated and compared with the results of the computational models. In this way, it is possible to compare the different approaches, their limitations and weaknesses. Furthermore, the thesis deals with design modifications that are analyzed using computational modeling. The thesis is concluded with a brief description of the application of each approach and an evaluation of the gearbox design modifications.

This Diploma thesis deals with methods that increase efficiency of transistor amplifiers. In the first part of the thesis we describe theoretical background of the constructions of power amplifiers. At first we deal with the classical method that is concerned with a change of position of the static operating point. Secondly we cover the multi harmonic manipulation method (MHM). This method is concerned with a proper loading of particular harmonic components and consequential shaping of voltage runs and currents on the collector. In the second part of the work we have constructed the substitutes of particular accesses. Constructed classes are AB, F and FMHM. Basic S parameters and output signal spectrum were measured. We can see from the calculated efficiencies AB = 11%, F = 16% a Fmhm = 18%, big increase of efficiency F and FMHM only by changing output network.

This thesis deals with the design of a dynamic model of a harmonic drive. It includes a theoretical study aimed at the analysis of the harmonic drive gearing principle and its nonlinear properties. The first part of the practical section deals with the analytical calculation of the nondeformed geometry of the Flexspline. Based on these results, several simulations in ANSYS are created to identify torsional characteristics of a harmonic drive. These simulation models are further enhanced by the analysis of clearance, backlash and inaccuracies and their impact on torsional properties. By using MATLAB /Simulink, several dynamic submodels are created representing the individual characteristics of nonlinearities in harmonic drives. Furthermore, a comprehensive dynamic model is created of the mechatronic system which is describing all nonlinearities and kinematic error of the transmission. The dynamic model is also experimentally verified based on its damping properties.

The modal and spectral characteristic belongs among important human acoustic spaces of vocal tract. They occur at generating vowels and other acoustic aspects of human speech. We can observe the resonant phenomena of acoustic cavity of vocal tract in the human speech spectrum, primary however at vowels generation. However near vocal tract occurs series of frequency tops in the spectrum of vowels, which necessarily may not be resonant origin. That is why sometimes quite difficult assign is right frequency tops to resonant tops of acoustic cavity. It consist in operate of acoustic excitation of vocal tracts. The pronounced of vowels loudly and in a whisper has different excitation of vocal tract. At generating vowels loudly is excited by scheme of harmonic components outspread to fundamental frequency of glottis. At talking in a whisper is vocal tract excited by continuous spectrum generated by turbulent fluxion of exhaled flatus over glottis. We give a name "formant" to a frequency, at which happens to resonance of acoustic space. Aim of this work is analysis of Czech vowels formants generated loudly and in a whisper. Experimental metering of these formants was performed on human vocalic tract for all vowels. Further then on artificially created vocalic tracts for vowels A, I. Then were modal characteristics of vocal cavity for vowels A, I, tested by method of final elements with the help of computing program ANSYS. In this work were surveyed courses of acoustic pressures for individual formants, influence sizes vocal tract and influence of correct mouth opening on formants. Also has been effected computational simulation of harmonic excitation on tract by side of glottis.

Abstract:
Analysis of the dead-time effect and other nonlinearities of the voltage source inverter was carried out in the introduction of the doctoral thesis. Three compensation strategies for vector controlled PMSM were proposed based on the analysis. The voltage disturbance observer with cost function of current errors is based on the model of PMSM, known machine parameters and easily measurable quantities. The second observer which estimates the dq- axes currents and the value of the voltage error with one parameter only is designed based on the harmonic analysis and Kalman filter algorithm. The third method combines an adaptive approach with feedback and voltage disturbance observer that is based on the PMSM model. Furthermore, the two compensation methods for vector controlled induction motor were proposed. In the first case, the standard compensation strategy is extended by a harmonic compensator that suppresses the residual 6th harmonic component in dq- axes currents. The last strategy detects the polarity of the estimated phase currents that are obtained by the Kalman filter. All compensation strategies have been verified by MATLAB/Simulink simulations and by experiments on real drives.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with computational modeling of curve squeal noise phenomena which occurs during cornering tight curves by trams. Lateral creep between rail and wheel and slip-stick phenomena leads to self-excited vibrations of the wheel which, therefore, emits unpleasant high-pitched noise. Two FEM models in frequency domain are carried out. First model is based on prestressed modal analysis. Due to unsymmetric stiffness matrix, unstable eigenvalues can occur. It is assumed that self-excited vibrations occurs on frequencies corresponding to that eigenvalues. Second model uses harmonic response analysis. It examines vibrations of the wheel excited by lateral creep force acting in contact region. This force is obtained externally by simple time-domain model. Results from harmonic response are used consequently for noise radiation computation.

Full text
Abstract:
The aim of this research is to develop an accurate method for the analysis of signals composed of fluctuating harmonics. The results obtained of analysis are applied to the calibration of harmonic analysis instruments. A new method is presented suitable for the accurate analysis of smoothly fluctuating harmonic signals. The method is based on a model of signals with a known period, in which the harmonics are individually modulated by polynomial functions normalised over a sampled signal sequence time. Using this model, a decomposition method is developed such that the modulating polynomials can be recovered from a signal. The polynomial decomposition method leads to a piece-wise analysis of the waveform. Two methods based on least squares and splines respectively, are developed with the aim of giving continuity to the piece-wise analysis. Comparisons of the new method with the short time Fourier transform are given. Having defined a test signal and obtained and accurate analysis of it properties, it can be used to calibrate harmonic analysers. For a given applied signal, analysis with these devices can give rise to variation in results as a function of the phase between the signal and the STFT windows. This result distribution due to variable phase (RDVP) is discussed and examples are given for various signals. The RDVP complicates the calibration process due to the spread of results that occur when testing the device. A method is developed to find the RDVP for an applied signal that uses the polynomial decomposition method to find the modulation functions of each harmonic in the applied calibration signal. Having found the RDVP for an applied signal, it is necessary to fit the results of the analyser under test, to the distribution. The random nature of the phase makes the systematic comparison of the theoretical and measured distributions difficult to achieve. A novel method that uses multiple phase shifted modulated harmonics is presented. By comparing the results of the analyser under test to the distributions of each of the phase-shifted harmonics, a best-fit phase shift can be determined and the required calibration comparison made. Key words: time-frequency analysis, demodulation, harmonic analysis, fluctuating harmonics, waveform metrology, calibration of harmonic analysers.

Abstract:
Harmonic domain models have been developed for Thyristor Controller Reactors (TCR) and other power electronic devices. Recently, these models have been extended to describe not just the steady-state harmonic interactions but harmonic transients as well. However, these dynamic models consistently do not incorporate models for controls. On the other hand, for the TCR as a FACTS Controller, dynamic models are available in which only the fundamental frequency component of the Controller is included; excluding harmonic interactions presumes that these do not affect the dynamics of the Controller. This thesis describes the development of a Harmonic State Space (HSS) model of a three phase TCR. As an extended state space description, this model describes the dynamics of the Controller while capturing harmonic interactions. It also includes the effect of switching instant variation which significantly improves the effectiveness of the model and allows the controller feedback characteristics to be included. The result of this model was validated with a purely time-domain simulation in PSCAD/EMTDC. Using the HSS to model a power system with TCR, it is illustrated that harmonic interactions play a significant role in the dynamics of the system. It is observed that for the specific system analysed, the least-damped pole-pair which dominates the dynamics of the system is associated with the 5th harmonic. Failure to include interactions with this specific harmonic produces an inaccurate dynamic description. Preliminary to the development of HSS model, a linearised harmonic domain model of a TCR which establishes the harmonic interactions across the device is also developed. Results of this model are validated with a time-domain simulation. This characterisation paves the way for a reduced harmonic state space model that is used in the HSS model. The principles and procedures established in this thesis can be applied to the development of models for other FACTS Controllers or HVDC links.

Abstract:
The dissertation deals with simulations of the DC-DC converters in their basic configurations (Buck, Boost, Buck-boost, Cuk, SEPIC). In the first part of the thesis derivation of transfer functions Line-to-Output (LTO) and Control-To-Output (CTO) can be found. These symbolic responses are derived for three types of basic converters (Buck, Boost, Buck-boost) using well-known average model [1]. Derived expressions are very complicated. For reduction of these expressions symbolic approximation method was used, however the generality is lost. The average model was used to for decreasing the computational effort of analysis of DC-DC converters in the time domain. For these simulations VHDL-AMS language was used. The main topic of the thesis is harmonic balance method, which was adapted to DC-DC converters. Because conditions and assumptions for LTO and CTO functions are very different, harmonic balance method was derived into two variants. For obtaining of LTO response, duty cycle of switching signal can be considered as constant in time. Spectrum of this signal is simple as follows from well-known sinc function. For obtaining of CTO response PWM modulation must be used. Compared to sinc function spectrum of PWM modulation is richer (contains more combination frequencies). Many types of PWM modulation is described in [31]. For simulation PWM modulation with uniform sampling in two variants (single and double edge) was used. Non-ideal switching of PWM switch was modeled by PWM pulse with defined slew rate. Last section deals with comparison of all derived functions (LTO, CTO, modulation type, defined slew rate) with well-known averaged model.

Abstract:
Optical Coherence Tomography also largely known as the acronym OCT, is a technique developed to generate transversal sections images of light scattering media. Based on optical interferometry, it provides images correlated to histological images with the advantages of being not invasive, painless besides and does not use ionizing radiation. This study was divided into two separate goals; one refers to the application of interferometric autocorrelation signals for forming images of samples with complex structures. The second objective was the study of structures called harmonics and its application in increasing the axial resolution of an OCT system. Regarding the first part, it was found that the interferometric autocorrelation signal is often ignored or discarded by traditional OCT. Further analysis of the theory of interferometry, along with some previous studies have pointed to the possibility of generating images of greater morphological complexity using the signal autocorrelation, with the advantage of using a simplest optical arrangement and also allow static images of samples in axial movement. To test the benefits and limitations of the autocorrelation technique (Au-OCT) a setup was assembled in and images of samples were performed at rest and in motion and compared with images generated in conventional OCT system. The system Au-OCT was able to generate images of several structures (teeth, plastic films etc.), and despite having a lower image quality to the OCT, it presented advantages when the sample undergoes axial motion. Regarding the harmonic characteristics that are present in samples of high optical reflectivity as false structures in OCT images, a whole study to the understanding of the phenomenon was developed. Also demonstrated the possibility of using these structures to enhance the differential axial resolution (structures between the sample itself) using a numerical and experimental study. Dimensional standards step height like were measured and results handled according to metrological procedures, showing that the harmonics can be used to promote the increase of axial resolution by a factor of about two. Finally a critical analysis of the results and a discussion of perspectives of the topics discussed were performed.

This master’s thesis deals with the computational simulation of low-frequency noise inside the cabin of small commercial airplane VUT 100 Cobra. For this low-frequncy range deterministic methods: Final Element Method (FEM) and Boundary Element Method (BEM) are used for simulation of the dynamic behaviour of the object. FEM has been used to compute eigenmodes and eigenfrequences of the structure of the aeroplane cabin and of the acoustic space inside cabin. Then response to harmonic excitation of engine represented by unit forces in place of contact has been computed. Obtained velocities on the surface of the cabin are then used as the basis for the noise calculation inside the cabin using BEM. After that effect of some construction modifications on sound level inside cabin are evaluated by computational modelling.

The cable-stayed variant was selected for further analysis. Two towers, inclined in both their longitudinal and transverse direction, support a cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete deck through stay cables anchored in the tower and the deck. After determining the desired initial state, a finite element analysis was carried out using the Ansys software. The capacity of all main load-bearing elements was checked so it meets the ULS and SLS design criteria in accordance with EN 1992 codes.

This master thesis deals in first part with basic theory of an induction motor and principle of function. It also includes theory about higher harmonics of magnetic field and how asynchronous and synchronous torques are created. Various ways how to decrease effect of these torques are suggested. These findings are later applied in practical analytical calculation in second part, in which all parameters of motor are calculated from given dimensions of motor from technical documentation. This is done for basic and higher harmonics. After that a model of this motor was created in RMxprt program, which also calculated all parameters of this motor and created torque characteristic. This motor was also modelled in ANSYS Maxwell 2D. Additional simulations for finding out influence of harmonics on torque characteristic were also done in this software. Torque characteristic of motor was also practically measured in laboratory. All results were compared and evaluated.

Abstract:
A model of the accurate harmonic allocation methods is developed to improve the current emission limits of IEEE Std.519. IEC 61000-3-6 and IEEE Std. 519 have by now been accepted as two well known standards for interconnecting the MV and HV-EHV customers to utility systems and widely adopted as standards to many power utilities. It is worth noting that the harmonic current emission limits of both standards have not been compared and justified with analytical proofs because there is still no explanation that discusses the origin of the emission limits in IEEE Std. 519, or the complex feature of IEC 61000-3-6. Two new novel methods of allocating the harmonic current emission limits for MV customers and HV-EHV customers have been proposed. Both methods have been developed in accordance with the principles of IEC 61000-3-6. Task II has compared and investgated the emission limits of both IEC 61000-3-6 and IEEE Std. 519. The difference, inconsistency and inaccuracy have been proven with the perspective of practical evaluations based on their own principles. The investigations focus on the specific numerical proofs of the resulting voltage distortions and the current emission limits in the MV and HV-EHV systems rather than on the philosophies. The proposed methods strongly support IEC 61000-3-6 and IEEE Std. 519, and add to their value; these methods could also help utilities allocate fairly and accurately harmonic emission limits to their MV and HV-EHV customers.

Abstract:
This thesis describes the development of several small signal analysis methods for the modelling of power electronic converters. The methods are written generally and are intended to be able to be applied to all converter classes. In the penultimate chapter these general models are used to model the capacitor commutated converter. All the contained methods are based around a time domain small signal model. This time domain small model is a linearization of a power electronic system of passive components and ideal switches described as a hybrid system. The key problem in the derivation of the small signal model is the correct determination and description of the linearized effect of switching instant variation. Three analysis methods based upon the small signal model are advanced in this thesis, these are; time domain sensitivity matrices for use in a Newton determination of the cyclic steady state of a power electronic converter, partial waveform construction of harmonic sensitivity matrices for studying sensitivity of converters to harmonic disturbances, and harmonic state space models also for the construction of harmonic sensitivity matrices and for study of dynamic systems. Each modelling technique is applied to the more common converter topologies of the Buck-Boost converter and the Graetz Bridge before being finally applied to the capacitor commutated converter. Each technique is compared to PSCAD-EMTDC simulations for verification.

Abstract: A new anharmonicity correction method is proposed in this work. The aim of this method is to simplify the reprodution of the harmonic force fields, the harmonic frequencies and potential energy distribution by application of the anharmonicity correction coefficients to the normal coordinate analysis force field. The simplification proposed consists in grouping the coefficients according of their numerical similarities, producing results similar to those obtained without grouping. The grouping and non grouping anharmonicity correction coefficients were calculated for trans-formic acid and applied to the force fields of the cis- and dimer of this molecule. The results obtained for the harmonic frequencies for the trans-, cis- and dimer species by the proposed method are very close to those obtained Dennison method
