The building of the selingue dam in that area has allowed hydroelectric generation, irrigated farming and an experimention of a new kind of fishing. These new activities illustrate in the technical field the development of our surroundings from which the success of the rural growth operations takes into consideration the total perception of local communities environment

Full textSo far, agricultural development has been the priority of the government of mali. Mali created institutions for organizing rural areas with an integrated approach : these are called rural development operations (roo's), of which ohv. Since their inception, the roo's have used various initiatives and strategies to achieve their objectives, mainly food self-sufficiency (cereal production) et cash crop intensification (cotton and tabacco at ohv). Despite these commendable efforts, the goal is not achieved. Agriculture officials encourage the creation of village associations (av's) to facilitate the accomplishment of the objectives. Rural people hope that these village cooperation will be as useful as their traditional associations, kare, sere and ton. Improving this situation calls for, on the one hand, a thorough knowlegge of the traditional structures and the role of their actors, men and women ; and, on the other hand, a better training of farmers to carry out activities to be transfered to their av's : :management, agricultural extension, etc. Functional literacy may contribute to facilitating these changes

Full textIn deprived countries such as mali, upper-volta (burkina-faso) and niger which are for historical and geographical reasons bearing poverty, it has become a necessity, more an obsession to open up. Il l is all the more essential when we know that, these countries heavily rely on transports for their access to the international market, their food supplies and the good running of their economies. Through this their importance and their impact can be measured. The quick settlement of a transportation policy should be integrated in a global policy of development which should modify the socio-economc structures of which the growth was wrong, blocked or extroverted. If not, not only development runs the risk to be hindered, but also other territories areas , and even the whole country will be made enclaves. Interactions of transportation are more and more numeros and more and more various to intervene here and there. This is why, we have foud it quite interesting to show how from as turning point in the past : the inland areas of west africa have become "abandoned areas"for communications and how the transportation system has become obsolete to create or to be transformed in another system which doesn't cope with the level of development. Planning should settle a new economic geography as well as the good organization and functionning of the transports should aim towards a balanced development of the economy in favour of a subregional integration

Full textOphthalmology is one of the clinical application fields of ultrasound imaging, for which numerous specific issues arise, related in part to the eye’s small anatomical dimensions combined with the high level of accuracy requirements associated with intraocular measurements. Indeed, since the development of refractive surgery including all the techniques dedicated to the correction of refractive errors, as well as the emergence of intraocular lens (IOL), ophthalmic surgeons have to monitor overall acceptance as well as secondary effects related to these implants on the structures of the anterior eye segment. High frequency ultrasound imaging provides the required spatial resolution for this task. However, the development of 3D ultrasound imaging allows for the development of new applications in ophthalmology, for instance pre-operative dimensioning of the lens. 3D modelling of the anterior eye segment therefore allows studying the IOL behaviour and may help designing future personalized IOL tailored for each patient. Within this context, we present an original 3D segmentation and reconstruction method based on 3D models registration, dedicated to the anterior eye segment acquired in high frequency ultrasound imaging. We used a 3D ultrasound free-hand acquisition system, composed of a high frequency ultrasound probe and a localization module based on a camera and infrared markers. This 3D ultrasound system provides images along with associated 3D spatial positioning information. We were therefore able to develop an entire ultrasound images acquisition and processing chain. This allowed us creating realistic reference 3D models from sequences of ultrasound images of the anterior eye segment. We thus propose a method based on the iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm for the registration of the 3D reference models to 3D ultrasound acquired data. We have also selected and adapted various methods for the evaluation of the proposed reconstruction process. These methods highlight the accuracy of the obtained reconstructions

The relationship between investment fund raising and performance are very common in the literature of Brazilian funds, and papers shown that investors make their investment decisions based on the recent performance of the funds, applying more in funds with good recent performance than funds that yield below the market average. This work is dedicated to, more than investigate the uptake ratio and performance of investment funds in Brazil, further study regarding the payback period longer considered by investors when choosing products to invest, that is, if you are already documented the literature that this behavior exists, we want to know: what is the exact performance period more analyzed by investors when choosing your funds? The results achieved through regression on panel with fixed time effect model is that the deadlines that have greater representation in the investor's choice are the windows from one month up to six months and from six months up to one year history, longer terms have the same positive relationship but fall considerably.

Full textThis thesis aims at studying 2 massive clusters NGC3603 and R136, and the mechanisms that govern their physics, These clusters host the most massive stars known in the local universe so far and are important clues to understand the formation and fate of very massive star clusters. The manuscript outlines the photometric analysis of the core of R136 and NGC3603 on the basis of HST data in the visible and the VLT high dynamic imaging that I obtained in the infrared thanks to the SPHERE focal instrument operated since 2015 and its extreme Adaptive Optics, In an extensive photometric study of these data I discovered a significantly larger number of faint low-mass stars in the core of both these clusters compared to previous works. These stars are often detected in the vicinity of known massive bright objects. By comparing HST and SPHERE measures, NGC3603 does not show any signature of mass segregation in its core since the MF slope of the very core and the next radial bin are similarly flat and agree well with the MF found in previous works of the outer regions. On the other hand R136 is partially resolved using the SPHERE/IRDIS mode with most of the massive stars having visual companions. Considering the spectroscopic and photometric errors on the extinction and the age of cluster members, I estimate a mass range for each detected star. The MF is plotted at different ages with given errors on stellar masses. Finally I demonstrate that we need more resolution to go further on studying R136 which is 7-8 times further than NGC3603

Full textThe Sahel is a semiarid region located south of the Sahara desert. The Sahel is particularly sensitive to climatic change and is subject to a high inter-annual and decadal rainfall variability. This region was marked by two periods of very severe droughts which occurred in 1983 - 1984 and 1972-1973 within a long dry period which began in 1970. This long drought deeply impacted water resources and vegetation, causing soil erosion, huge livestock losses and catastrophic harvests accentuating the impoverishment of the rural population. This study is an attempt to characterize and quantify changes in soils, vegetation and hydrology at the scale of the Gourma region (90 000 km²) located in Northern Mali from the last 55 years. Three types of remote sensing data have been used: 1) high spatial resolution Landsat images, 2) very high spatial resolution Geo-Eye images (Google-Earth) and 3) NDVI data measured by the moderate spatial resolution satellite (MODIS). The approach aims to characterize soil surface texture, local redistribution of rainwater by surface run off, surface hydrology and vegetation cover changes over the considered period. Temporal dynamics of vegetation and soils are pointed out. Particularly, this study shows the strong relationships between soil types, surface hydrology and vegetation dynamics at different spatial scales. Land cover changes are also characterized over the considered period
Full textThe soybean crop has an important economic partner in the country, because Brazil is a major producer of the grain in the world. Rio Grande do Sul is a state with a grain production characteristic, among them rice and soybeans, with approximately six million hectares of paddy soils, where only one fourth is occupied by rice cultivation, and the rest remain fallow and underutilized. However, we have sought alternatives to the cultivation of these areas, with crops that support the environmental conditions, making it the most profitable areas. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of three soybean cultivars, as well as the physiological quality in planossolo seed produced, submitted to five plant populations. The experiment was conducted at Embrapa Clima Temperado in 2008/09 and 2009/10 crop, using five populations (16, 28, 40, 52 and 64 plants per m²) and three cultivars (BRS PampaRR, BRS BRS 246RR and BRS 255RR) arranged in blocks with three and four replications in their respective crop. Significant responses for most variables when subjected to population changes, decreasing the value of these when they population increased. Moreover, with increasing population, variables such as number of nodes, pod and seeds per unit area had increased in value in the branches, while the main stem remained almost flat. This demonstrates first that the effect of number of branches directly influences yield components, and second, the ability to adjust components before different populations. Variables such as seeds per pod and thousand seed weight did not change or contributed little in yield, and the response varies with the population. There was a positive relationship in the yield on the main stem population growth, has branches in the relationship was negative, ranging in 2009/10 crop among cultivars. Overall, the yield in the 2008/09 crop did not change significantly, while in 2009/10 crop there was significant increase in yield with population increase. For the cultivars, most of the variables there was significant response to the 2008/09 crop on the main stem and to the 2009/10 crop on branches, especially in BRS PampaRR and BRS 246RR cultivars, on the other hand the BRS 255RR cultivar stands in the variable thousand seeds weight. The components of yield are directly related to the branches and thus reflected in yield. However, the partial yield (main stem and branches) was not significant difference among cultivars. Thus we can conclude that the environment influences in the yield, as population and cultivars, the component that contributes most in yield is the number of pods, and the components behave differently on the main stem and branches.
Pastor, Poquet Vicente. "Experimental and modeling assessment of the main bio-physical-chemical mechanisms and kinetics in high-solids anaerobic digestion of organic waste High-Solids Anaerobic Digestion requires a tradeoff between Total Solids, Inoculum-to-Substrate Ratio and Ammonia Inhibition Semi-continuous Mono-digestion of OFMSW and Co-digestion of OFMSW with Beech Sawdust: Assessment of the Maximum Operational Total Solid Content High-solids anaerobic digestion model for homogenized reactors Non-Ideal Bio-Physical-Chemical Effects on High-Solids Anaerobic Digestion of the Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste." Thesis, Paris Est, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018PESC2206.
Full textThe organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) includes readily biodegradable wastes such as food waste, and slowly biodegradable wastes such as lignocellulosic materials. Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a mature treatment biotechnology in which OFMSW is decomposed to a mixture of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2), known as biogas. Due to the elevated CH4 content (50-70%), biogas can be used as a source of renewable energy. Moreover, AD yields a partially stabilized digestate, allowing the recycle of nutrients to agriculture. High-solids anaerobic digestion (HS-AD) is a well-suited strategy to enhance the overall AD efficiency for OFMSW treatment. HS-AD is operated at a total solid (TS) content ≥ 10%, permitting to reduce the reactor size and overall operational costs. Nonetheless, the TS increase can result into biochemical instability, and even reactor failure by acidification. Both the high organic load and the buildup of inhibitors can be responsible for the HS-AD instability. The most notable inhibitor in HS-AD of OFMSW is NH3. Therefore, a balance is often required between enhancing the HS-AD economy and the ‘undesired’ instability for OFMSW treatment. This PhD research investigated the main bio-physical-chemical mechanisms and kinetics in HS-AD of OFMSW, with the aim to optimize the industrial application and maximize the kinetic rates. Laboratory-scale batch and semi-continuous experiments highlighted the main strengths and weaknesses of HS-AD. Simultaneously, the development of a HS-AD model permitted to condense the experimental knowledge about the bio-physical-chemical effects occurring when increasing the TS content in HS-AD.HS-AD batch experiments required a tradeoff between the initial TS, the inoculum-to-substrate ratio (ISR), the alkalinity and the nitrogen content, to assess the effects of increasing the initial TS content upon the methane yield, TS removal and chemical oxygen demand conversion. Particularly, a low ISR led to acidification, whereas the NH3 buildup led to volatile fatty acid (VFA) accumulation, reducing the methane yield, whether or not co-digestion of OFMSW with beech sawdust was used.In semi-continuous experiments, HS-AD of OFMSW required a reduced effluent compared to the influent to counterbalance the organic mass removal associated to the biogas production. Nonetheless, mono-digestion of readily-biodegradable OFMSW could not sustain a TS ≥ 10% without exacerbating the risk of substrate overload. Overloading was associated to the high biodegradability and the NH3 buildup. Thus, adding sawdust to OFMSW permitted to operate the reactors up to 30% TS, due to the lower biodegradability and nitrogen content of lignocellulosic substrates. As the main novelty of this PhD research, a HS-AD model based on the Anaerobic Digestion Model No.1 (ADM1) was developed. This model simulates the reactor mass and TS in HS-AD, in contrast of models focusing on ‘wet’ AD simulations (TS < 10%). Moreover, the HS-AD model considers also the TS concentration effect on soluble species. A ‘non-ideal’ bio-physical-chemical module, modifying predominantly the acid-base equilibriums, was subsequently coupled to the HS-AD model. Noteworthy, HS-AD is often characterized by a high ionic strength (I ≥ 0.2 M), affecting the pH, NH3 concentration and CO2 liquid-gas transfer, as the most important triggers for HS-AD inhibition. The HS-AD model calibration required multiple experimental datasets to circumvent parameter non-identifiability. The model calibration showed that HS-AD of OFMSW might be operated at I up to 0.9 M and NH3 up to 2.3 g N/L, particularly at higher TS (25-30%). Moreover, the model calibration suggested that the non-competitive NH3 inhibition should be further tested. Further HS-AD model developments (e.g. precipitation) were also recommended. All these results might aid in the optimization of HS-AD for organic waste treatment, renewable energy and nutrient recovery

Full textThe restructuring of complex organizations, such as those of health facilities, is strongly influenced by recent economic, technological and regulatory changes. To understand the impact of these restructuring movements, one must analyze the changes affecting the various hierarchical levels of the healthcare organization. Under the French socio-economic context, healthcare institutions are currently undergoing multiple strategic and operational transformations, which requires professionals to adapt their skills and capabilities accordingly. In fact, the impact of medical, technical and digital innovations is driving the concerned structures to emphasize value in their adaptations. For a successful implementation, it is necessary that concerned parties intervene. These latters are then encouraged to focus on updating the organization's strategy, improving human resources development and adjusting necessary patterns and processes. Therefore, this research relies on analyzing organizational performance from a strategic alignment perspective. We aim to examine the managerial expectations of a study sample of managers, professionals, and staff in a French hospital which are undergoing full reconstruction. The results of this qualitative study show the difficulty of managers to implement a successful patient pathway process. It also shows that technological transformations can be used to ensure a very high organizational performance allowing people to take advantage of various intelligent services

Full textSince the second half of the 20th century, international adoption has become increasingly important. A Multifaceted institution, from a multidisciplinary perspective, its essential features are two decisive factors: diversity and juridical status. It is also a highly complex issue since it goes to the very core of the family, in a context characterized by the search for a balance between the various state laws. The review of the interlinked notions of the best interest of the child and of identity, as well as the study of the key components of intergovernmental cooperation enshrined in the Hague Convention of 29 May 1993, will enable us to analyze the cornerstones of international adoption beyond the aforementioned specifics. This analysis conducted through comparison between French and Tunisian law, laws that seem to be in opposition, gives an opportunity to produce an overview of the organization of international adoption from the preliminary phase under the auspices of administrative authorities, until when the international adoption is decided. In addition to the choice of the competent judge, all issues concerning the administrative stage, as well as those resulting from the designation of the applicable legislation, require a comprehensive study of Tunisian and French legislation, in particular a thorough examination of solutions which are usually sought before the courts in both countries

In Taiwan, the establishment of shopping malls can be regarded as a kind of innovative consumer service, which affects the consumption patterns of retail business as a whole. The location of the shopping mall is a key factor in the business’ understanding and analysis of its consumers’ characteristics and behaviors. Therefore, the purpose of this study is intended to probe into the impact of the shopping mall location and consumer life style has on consumer behavior. Also, the results can serve as references to the shopping mall proprietor in their planning and setting marketing strategies and management system. The questionnarive survey method was used to collect the consumer behavior, life style and demographic data of consumers at suburban shopping malls (include TAIMALL and Metro Walk)and urban shopping malls (include Core Pacific City and Breeze Center). The resulting data were analyzed by using factor analysis, cluster analysis to determine the consumer life styles, then the hypotheses of this study are tested by using chi-square. The research findings indicated that there is a significant difference among consumers’ consumption motivation, consumption category, transportation, time for transportation, consumption path and attractions of the shopping mall at different locations. The location, building structure, tenant category and the market position of different shopping malls careated different consumer behavior. Consumers of different life styles showed great difference in their needs of consumption category and transportation. If the shopping mall proprietor can boost their sales by pinpointing at the different life style of their consumers when choosing appropeiate category of product and offering convenient transportation service to match their needs. There are significant differences noted based on gender, age, education level, occupation, marrial status, transportation methods and residence of the consumers on their consumer behaviors, which showed that an individual’s socaial and cultural characteristics are reflected on how he/she shops.

As Taiwan being one of the top ten markets for Hollywood’s movies, it deserves much more attention from the researchers. The most important factor in the above framework is the success of the marketing and packaging strategies, which can be further divided into two elements, the marketing communication and non-marketing communication. In order to promote a movie, advertisements, public relations, and other marketing activities are needed. The key is to stick to the principal marketing goal. If the target is clear, the whole marketing strategies will go with the guideline and complete it. With an approach of qualitative research methods, this case study is based on data analysis, focus group interviews to collect the first-hand data and analyze with the second-hand literatures. Aside from the study, the researcher also interviewed numerous professionals in fields such as the production, processing, projection and distribution in Taiwan’s film industry in order to obtained more legitimate information.

This paper explores the effects of environment, organizational structure and task uncertainty have on MAIS in terms of Contingency Theory. Environmental elements can be divided into environmental uncertainty and the extent of implementing Balance Score Card. Organizational structure can be evaluated by decentralization and formalization. Task uncertainty stands for task difficulty and task validity. Lastly, the effectiveness of MAIS can be measured by users’ satisfaction and managerial performance. Data were collected from 2000 executives in Financial & Accounting Department in public offering companies in Taiwan. Valid samples amount to 294 in total. The research tests all hypotheses by using SEM and T-test. Empirical results show as follows: 1. Environmental factors have significant relationship to organizational structure. With higher environmental uncertainty and implementation of Balance Score Card, organizational structure tends to be organic. 2. Environmental factors have significant relationship to the performance of MAIS. With higher uncertainty in environment, implementing Balance Score Card has better performance on MAIS. 3. Environmental factors have significant relationship to task uncertainty. The higher uncertainty environment has, the more uncertainty task will have. 4. Higher task uncertainty has significant relationship to organizational structure. The higher task uncertainty has, the organizational structure tends to be more organic. 5. Implementing Balance Score Card has significant difference on the performance of MAIS. Implementing Balance Score Card will enhance the performance of MAIS in companies. 6. Whether a company implements Balance Score Card or not has significant difference on MAIS users’ satisfaction. After implementing Balance Score Card, MAIS users’ satisfaction will enhance.

Full textRelationship, Forgiveness and Reconciliation. Three concepts which involve a kind of “melting pot” of ideas and which necessarily imply a before, a throughout and a after the events. Before the forgiveness comes the relationship, in the meaning of an urgent necessity of the human being in building bonds with himself, with the others and with God. However, as the human being is far from being perfect and faultless, the evil surprises life, invades its inner space and leaves the person in great concern with the feeling of misunderstood. And among the evil that is done to others and the one that is experienced comes the forgiveness, like an unthinkable hug, a sign of hope for a different future, a reinvention of life. It’s starting with this assumption that we can approach reconciliation, it’s what follows the forgiveness like the result of a unilateral decision of love, like fundamental principles of what a human being should be: “God image and likeness”.

Full textFire Departments (CB) have a network of barracks deployed throughout the national territory, currently organized by a model based on the territorial limits of the NUTS (Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistical Purposes). Therefore, it will be possible to improve the fire department network at the sub-regional level, through the implementation of fire departments performance criteria, including the population coverage within the settled response times. The objective of this work is to propose an operational reorganization of the barracks network already implemented in the Sub-Regions of Lezíria do Tejo and Médio Tejo, based on a model of the Main Network of Operational Services for Fire Brigades in Mainland Portugal. To this end, criteria were defined with a view to the constitution of CB Groups, which sharing areas of activity among themselves, allows prioritizing the dispatch of means based on the response time within the limits of the Groups. The application of the criteria covering the existing road network and the distribution of the resident population, allowed, using the QGIS® software, to assess the areas in need of reinforcement of the barracks network. Applying the model to the Lezíria do Tejo and Médio Tejo sub-regions, there was an increase of 18,4% (1.401 km2) in area and 6,1% of the population (30.524 inhabitants) covered within the reference times (10 and 20 minutes). In order to guarantee operational activity in the 24 municipalities covered, the fire departments network would consist of a total of 24 headquarters and 22 outposts with a minimum of 1.897 professional firefighters. The fact that the barracks network is already implanted in the study target territory and only needs occasional reinforcements, should be a triggering factor of interest in its profitability by the various entities involved.
