Abstract:
<p> This study seeks to examine the role of presidential leadership in internationalization on historically Black college and university (HBCU) campuses. HBCUs comprise a small but important segment of U.S. higher education, as they are responsible for 20% of African American graduates in the country. Unfortunately, many of these institutions have yet to address the urgent need to internationalize their campus in a systematic, relevant way. This research study was conducted on the campuses of three public HBCUs working to advance internationalization. This study explores answers to the followi

Abstract:
Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) lag behind predominantly White institutions in their production of online courses and degree programs because of nonexistent or inadequate technology training for faculty members and limited financial resources. The purpose of this qualitative comparative case study was to obtain insight into how decisions are made on technology deployment and integration of online programs at HBCUs. Guided by Donaldson's contingency theory, this case study addressed how decisions are determined at HBCUs to integrate online learning programs into the curricu

The purpose of this study was to determine and examine the impact of student support services (SSS) on academic success at a historically black college. The study was grounded in the theoretical framework of Astin’s Input-Environment-Outcome Model (IEO), Scholssberg’s theory of marginality, holistic theory , facilitation theory, and the theory of sensory simulation (Dunn, 2002; Anderson et. al., 2011; Dennick, 2014 and Pritchard, 2013) A mixed method approach was used to quantify and explicate triangulated data, which included the N-LSSI survey, archival data, and focus group interviews. Abstract:
Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) have provided academic and social support to Black students; however, with an increase in White students attending HBCUs, HBCU leaders have been challenged to acquire a better understanding of the White student population to increase their retention and graduation rates. This phenomenological project study addressed how White undergraduate students' participation in curricular and extracurricular activities influenced their academic success. The conceptual framework included elements from Astin's involvement theory and Helms's White racial i

Abstract:
Trust in the workplace has been linked to higher levels of organizational performance and competitiveness. The imperative of variants of trust among a spectrum of institutional types, including colleges and universities, has been deemed to be considered essential for organizational effectiveness, stability and continuity. One variant, organizational trust, may be a particularly important factor during periods of exigency where exogenous forces may function to punctuate organizational equilibrium. This study focuses on organizational trust and associated variables (empowerment, resistance to ch

The purpose of this study was to examine the attributes that possibly influence the adjustment of white faculty at selected Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Texas. The results of this study may contribute to a research area that has not been thoroughly examined. The main objective of the study was to examine white faculty adjustment to their employment at an HBCU with respect to their interactions with the black student body, black faculty peers, black administrators, family and friends, commitment to HBCU missions, academic rank, tenure, age, and gender.
