Background: Gene based therapy may provide a cure for individuals with sickle cell disease (SCD); base editing is a novel strategy with the ability to directly edit the mutation responsible for disease. The Fisch Detailed Evaluation of Facial Symmetry (DEFS) and House-Brackmann grading system (HBGS) were compared by statistical examination for their reliability and interob-server variability. Furthermore, the correlation and agreement with a standard global evaluation were compared. Therefore 47 patients with facial palsy of different cause have been evaluated with the two systems, and the global overall evaluation was done by five otolaryngologists familiar with facial palsy. A new biodegradable porous medium has been employed in this work for the hydrate-based gas separation (HBGS) process to capture carbon dioxide in a fixed bed column from a precombustion stream. Propane (2.5 mol%) was added as a promoter to reduce the operating pressure of the HBGS process. The aim of this thesis is to investigate three aspects related to phosphorus diffusion for doping profile control in PNP SiGe HBTs: We systematically and quantitatively investigated the impact of carbon and Ge on P diffusion in strained SiGe:C up to 18% Ge and 0.32% C through experiments, which shows that the incorporation of carbon to retard P diffusion is not as effective in SiGe as it is in Si.
