Abstract:
The number of epidemiological headache studies is rapidly increasing, and has accentuated the need to improve the quality of the way studies are performed and how results are interpreted. The aims of this review were to summarize the main findings from the Head-HUNT study, to describe strengths and limitations of the Head-HUNT approach and to discuss the significance of some of our findings. Head-HUNT included a large sample size of 51 383 participants that gave the opportunity to make analyses also of relatively rare conditions. The wide range of health-related information made it possible to

Ten patients (6F, 4M) with recurrent Tolosa-Hunt syndrome are reported. Besides ocular motor symptoms, one patient had trigeminal nerve involvement, one had ipsilateral ocular sympathicoplegia with miosis and ptosis, and one tinnitus during an episode of Tolosa-Hunt syndrome, ipsilateral to the pain side. One patient had Bell's palsy, one had a possible Raeder's syndrome, and one had a period of tinnitus between the Tolosa-Hunt syndrome episodes. Three of the 10 patients reported periods of periocular pain without ophthalmoplegia between the Tolosa-Hunt episodes, the pain located ipsilateral t

Abstract Sika deer is widely spread species, in Czech Republic mostly occurred in West Bohemia. This species is defined as one of the most harmful ungulate game in the forests. For the wildlife population of sika deer in the microregion Konstantinolázeňsko in West Bohemia, total weight after the hunt, weight after expelling organs, weight of the head and distal parts of the limbs, and weight of the internal organs (heart, lung, liver, spleen, kidney) were determined. Correlations between the weights of specific body parts (organs) were evaluated. Ratio between the weight after expelling organs

Ramsay Hunt syndrome involving the vagus nerve is very rare. We herein describe a 53-year-old man who developed severe pharyngeal pain after alcohol intoxication. Antibiotic treatment was ineffective. Laryngoscopy showed an ulcer on the right side of the epiglottis. As the condition progressed, the patient developed hoarseness. He then gradually developed multiple herpes lesions on the right side of the head, face, and neck along with right peripheral facial paralysis. Corticosteroid, analgesic, antiviral, and nutritional nerve therapy resulted in disappearance of the herpes lesions, epiglotti

Background Headache attributed to head injury is claimed to be among the most common secondary headache disorders, yet available epidemiological evidence is scarce. We evaluated the prevalence of headache among individuals previously exposed to head injury by a comparison to an uninjured control group. Methods This population-based historical cohort study used data from hospital records on previous exposure to head injury linked to a large epidemiological survey with data on headache occurrence. Participants without head injury, according to hospital records, were used as controls. The head in
