This paper measures the costs and types of administrative inputs in health care. We use data on labor and nonlabor inputs by industry and categorize them as administrative or not. We find that nonlabor inputs are a critical part of administrative spending, over and above labor inputs. Trends in nonlabor administrative input spending have differed dramatically from that of labor input spending for hospitals over the last 20 years. Hospitals have substituted away from office workers and toward externally purchased inputs. The share of managers and technical workers in administration has grown. T

Abstract The supply of health and social (long-term) care services in the UK will need to substantially increase in coming decades to meet growing demand pressures. Expanding supply will mean increasing the quantity of inputs used to produce health and care services (such as medical staff and equipment) or increasing the productivity of those inputs. In practice, both will be necessary, and both will require the government to overcome a range of challenges. In this paper, we discuss those challenges and their policy implications. Introduction Cancer causes a substantial burden to our society, both from a health and an economic perspective. To improve cancer patient outcomes and lower society expenses, early diagnosis and timely treatment are essential. The recent COVID-19 crisis has disrupted the care trajectory of cancer patients, which may affect their prognosis in a potentially negative way. The purpose of this paper is to present a flexible decision-analytic Markov model methodology allowing the evaluation of the impact of delayed cancer care caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in Belgium which can be used by researche

AbstractExpenditures on mental health care in the Czech Republic are not being published regularly, yet they are indispensable for evaluation of the ongoing reform of Czech mental health care. The main objective of this study is to estimate the size of these expenditures in 2015 and make a comparison with the last available figures from the year 2006. The estimation is based on an OECD methodology of health accounts, which structures health care expenditures according to health care functions, provider industries, and payers. The expenditures are further decomposed according to diagnoses, and

While it is possible to save potential victims during emergencies situations (such as cardiac arrests) using the required healthcare infrastructure around, the greatest challenge lies in setting up of the same. People are not always present at places with readily access to qualified doctors. As a result, there should be a provision to remain in touch with a specialist medical practitioner. This paper presents the methodology of medical content management through internet of things.
