Abstract:
Essence and necessity to make the teaching-learning process more innovative, scientific and students' centred have become main aim and objective of present day education system. A large number of methods are being used in teaching-learning process. The audio visual aids are being increasingly used since these involve both audio (verbal) as well as visual way of teaching. Several researches have been proved that the ability to recall is high with teaching using audio visual aids. Selection of appropriate media of teaching is one of the smart and important steps of teaching students of different levels and domains. Several media of audio visual aids are being practisized such as overhead projector (OHP), power point presentation (PPT), white or black board teaching and flip charts etc. These media have merits as well as demerits. There are key techniques to make them more effective. The audio visual aids help in consolidation of long term memories of learnt information. Logical use of different types of media simultaneously during teaching can be more beneficial for the learners in many ways.

Abstract:
USING AUDIO VISUAL MEDIA IN YOSOWILANGUN STUDENTS, LUMAJANG DISTRICT ABSTRACT The increasing number of adolescents with HIV and AIDS is possible because of limited access to information and health services which has an impact on the lack of true knowledge about HIV and AIDS. Understanding adolescents about HIV and AIDS is still very minimal, even though adolescents, including age groups are vulnerable to risk behavior. Increasing adolescent understanding about HIV / AIDS prevention can be done by providing health education / education especially for high school students Yosowilangun. The purpose of this activity is that all students of Yosowilangun High School, Yosowilangun District Lumajang Regency become more understanding about HIV / AIDS prevention. Some factors that are very supportive of the success of this community service activity are good coordination between the speaker and the school, Submission of material in the form of a video that is quite interesting for high school students classified as teenagers, there are discussions and questions and answers that are not limited by time, as well as prizes for participants who dare to ask. Some inhibiting factors in this community service activity are presenters (which in this case are a few students) need mastery of counseling targets totaling more than 100 participants and in the age that is not much different. But this can be overcome. The results of these community service activities can be said to be successful because 93% of students have good knowledge and understanding of HIV / AIDS prevention after being given health education. This can be observed at the level of attendance, participant activity, Keywords: audio visual; education; HIV / AIDS

Abstract:
The problem of adolescent reproductive health in Indonesia is about sexuality, HIV / AIDS and drugs. The problem occurs due to low knowledge of the TRIAD KRR which will affect the attitudes that adolescents will take in relation to the TRIAD KRR. The low level of knowledge occurs due to the lack of education that adolescents get about TRIAD KRR. The aim of this study was to find out the effect of providing counseling through audio-visual and webtoon on increasing knowledge and attitudes about the three basic threats to adolescent reproductive health (TRIAD KRR). This research is a quasi experimental study using a two groups pretest-posttest design approach. The research sample was students of SMAN 8 Cirebon City. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate analysis using the Wilxocon test, paired t test and the Man-witney test. The measuring instrument used is a questionnaire. The analysis of the median pretest obtained for knowledge in the audiovisual group was 8.0000 and the posttest was 11,000. In the attitude, the median value for pretest was 36.00 and posttest was 37.00. Bivariate analysis in the audio-visual group, both knowledge and attitude, obtained p value 0.000 (<0.05). In the knowledge of the webtoon group, the p value was 0.000 (<0.05) and for the attitude, the p value was 0.350 (> 0.05). Differences in knowledge of audio visual media with webtoon obtained p value of 0.411 and for attitude that is 0.033. Abstract:
Purpose: To assess a caregiver’s oral health attitudes, habits, and behaviors pre and post intervention, and to determine whether a particular delivery-style (verbal-only or with visual supplementation) of a motivational interviewing session is more effective in improving oral health behaviors as well as improving success of a chosen preventive goal. Methods: N=140 caregivers of pediatric dental patients were given questionnaires to assess readiness to change and current preventive oral health behaviors. Oral health education was communicated in a MI style (verbal-only or with visual supplementation). One preventive oral health goal was selected to focus on. The home preventive behavior survey was re-administered at follow-up. Results: Preventive home behaviors improved, with no significant difference between interventions. There was significance in the amount of change in items specified as a goal. Conclusions: Behaviors improved significantly after a MI educational intervention. Goal setting and providing oral health education in a MI style can improve home preventive behaviors.

Abstract:
Worldwide, young people are the most vulnerable population to the HIV infection. In China, college students have been identified as the latest addition to the AIDS high-risk group due to their practices of unsafe heterosexual intercourse. Effective intervention work to protect these young college students needs to be based on a better understanding of the socio-cultural dimensions of the transmission of HIV/STIs (sexually transmitted infections) among them, and on an adequate conceptualization of youth sexuality in terms that go beyond the bio-medically-oriented and positivist explanations. This dissertation is a qualitative study of the sexuality and the embodied experiences of college students in China in relation to HIV and AIDS that uses visual-based participatory action research methodologies. In 2007, a photovoice project was initiated with 25 first-year students (10 male and 15 female), 18-19 years of age, in a university located in an urban area of China. Photovoice blends photography, research, education, and action not only as a strategy for collecting data for this qualitative exploration but also as a means of intervention and education by engaging the study participants in social issues related to HIV and AIDS, sex, and sexuality. Other qualitative methods such as in-depth qualitative interviews, focus groups, and participant observation also were used to provide triangulation, and thus, to obtain a complex picture of the sexuality and bodily experiences of college students in China. Data from the study suggest that young Chinese students hold somewhat contradictory attitudes toward traditional Chinese and Western sexual discourses, and therefore experience a state of tension when trying to decide whether to embrace Western ideas of sexual liberalism or to comply with traditional Chinese sexual norms, and whether to adhere to traditional sexual morals or attempt sexual liberation. The study

Abstract:
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine if motivational interviewing with written/illustrated infant oral health education provided to caregivers of pediatric dental patients increases caregivers’ oral health literacy compared to verbal only motivational instruction. Methods: This is a cohort study of caregivers and their child receiving oral health anticipatory guidance utilizing motivational interviewing with and without visual aids. Caregivers (N=20) of pediatric dental patients age 0-4 that presented to the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry for a new patient exam were recruited for the study. Caregivers were randomly assigned into 2 groups: the intervention group (IG), and the control group (CG). Each caregiver took a pre-test to determine their infant oral health literacy. Then the IG received infant oral health education using a flipbook, and the CG received the same information in verbal form. Each caregiver had a brief motivational interviewing session. The caregivers then took the same test (post-test). At the pre-test time period, groups were compared by Fisher’s exact test or a two group t-test, as appropriate. The post-test score of the two groups were compared using an ANCOVA. Results: Currently, 20 patients have been enrolled in the study. There was no significant difference between the CG and the IG in the pre-test scores (P= 0.3913) or the post-test scores (P=0.3022). The intervention group had a nominally higher score after the education. Conclusions: This study was only a pilot study with N=20 caregivers. This study may be used to estimate the number of subjects needed to demonstrate a significant difference.

Abstract:
The Republic of Botswana (2011a) recognises behaviour change as the only long term solution to the HIV and AIDS epidemic that has become a leading health and development challenge for the country. The study aimed to examine how Talk Back, an interactive HIV and AIDS educational programme on Botswana television, capacitates the school community to deal with challenges brought about by the HIV and AIDS epidemic. The study was based on recordings of 2014 Term One theme— ‘Paediatric care and support: challenges and implications in the teaching and learning environment. The study conducted a content analysis of Talk Back to determine behaviour change communication categories employed in producing the programme. All aspects of the Talk Back programme were also analysed to establish communication strategies employed in the presentation of content. Talk Back employed communication approaches such as panel discussions of matters related to HIV and AIDS by various specialists, video clips to present content, and viewers phoning in to interact with the panellists. A number of the callers identified challenges; the most common identified challenge was that parents tended not to disclose their children’s HIV status to the children due to the negative social stigma attached to HIV and AIDS. Although Talk Back provides a forum for interactive behaviour change communication, some listeners questioned the use of technical language.

Through the UAACC the O’Neals have organized free workshops and classes on health and nutrition, conservation, AIDS education, writing, art appreciation, crafts, history, and computer skills to well over 100 Tanzanian youths annually. They established a student-exchange program with De LaSalle Academy in Kansas City, a Sister City relationship between Arusha and Kansas City, as well as linkages with several study-abroad programs in the U.S. Their supporters have donated needed medical supplies and equipment to Arusha hospitals. The UAACC and the Kuji Foundation, created by Geronimo Ji Jaga Pratt, hired a South African company to drill a deep well for the village community. Geronimo’s Fugi Foundation also donated an ambulance truck to the UAACC. With support from the Fugi Foundation, the Center trained several young, mixed-gender Tanzanian teams to install solar panels in 85 village homes that had no electricity. Charlotte O’Neal has become a recognized visual and spoken-word artist, musician, and filmmaker. She travels the world giving performances and spreading the news of the UAACC. Both she and Pete O’Neal have received many awards and recognitions for their communal work.

Abstract:
Visual information has been immensely used in various domains such as web, education, health, and digital libraries, due to the advancements of computing technologies. Meanwhile, users realize that it has been more and more difficult to find desired visual content such as images. Though traditional content-based retrieval (CBR) systems allow users to access visual information through query-by-example with low level visual features (e.g. color, shape, and texture), the semantic gap is widely recognized as a hurdle for practical adoption of CBR systems. Wealthy visual information (e.g. user generated visual content) enables us to derive new knowledge at a large scale, which will significantly facilitate visual information management. Besides semantic concept detection, semantic relationship among concepts can also be explored in visual domain, other than traditional textual domain. Therefore, this chapter aims to provide an overview of the state-of-the-arts on discovering semantics in visual domain from two aspects, semantic concept detection and knowledge discovery from visual information at semantic level. For the first aspect, various aspects of visual information annotation are discussed, including content representation, machine learning based annotation methodologies, and widely used datasets. For the second aspect, a novel data driven based approach is introduced to discover semantic relevance among concepts in visual domain. Future research topics are also outlined.

Abstract:
As we have already hinted, computers and the internet have made profound changes in how we learn. We begin this topic by reviewing influential visions and early prototypes suggesting how technology could revolutionize education. Early on, computers were used by educators to deliver online tutorials about subject material, administer drill-and-practice exercises on rote skills, act as supportive environments for creatively exploring ideas through programming in English-like languages, and function as inexpensive, ubiquitous, and dynamic audio-visual resources. We shall then discuss other newer methods for using digital technologies to transform how students approach subject matter and how classrooms are organized. By using interactive simulation games, students learn by taking actions with respect to certain scenarios. Presentation aids such as PowerPoint and Prezi have replaced blackboards to present and elucidate concepts. Smart classrooms allow instructors and students access to technology that facilitates learning; inverted classrooms allow more effective use of classroom time by enabling students to prepare for lectures in advance and focus on working together with their teachers in class. Intelligent tutors are artificial intelligence (AI) programs that actively support student learning, diagnose student difficulties with the material, and then adapt tutoring strategies based on these findings. Next, we shall review how online learning has opened up new opportunities for adult and continuing education, whereby students can learn in their own time and at their own pace. The challenge online learning technology developers now face is to provide discussion forums, real-time chat capabilities, and methods for instructor feedback so that advantages of face-to-face interaction are not lost in web-based learning. Particularly exciting is the growth of worldwide learning communities via Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), an area of current expansion and creativity. While technology is now seen as instrumental in learning, there are still debates on the extent to which it should be used and how it should be used in education. A particularly prevalent dilemma is in middle and secondary schools. The issue is whether or not and how to encourage or disallow the use of mobile phones and other devices in classrooms.

Abstract:
Research has demonstrated that nonschool hours provide a powerful opportunity for community-based organizations to help children and schools reach their academic goals. For example, Reginald Clark says, “Youngsters who engage in constructive learning activities outside of school are more likely to excel in school and in life than those who do not. By participating in a well-rounded array of activities, they are able to practice and thoroughly learn skills required for academic success.” Based on this knowledge, The Children’s Aid Society (CAS) aims to integrate after-school and summer enrichment programs with classroom instruction through a model that both supports the school’s academic mission and promotes healthy youth development. The vast majority of students in CAS’s 10 community schools, which are located in New York City, struggle with basic skills; in addition, more than half are Spanish speakers grappling with English as a second language. Their parents, teachers, and principals look to after-school and summer programs to help address their needs. The challenge for CAS is to answer this call in a way that is fun and engaging for children and achievable for program staff. A crucial feature of high-quality after-school programs is balanced programming. In keeping with this concept, CAS after-school programs offer children an array of purely recreational activities (such as sports, dance, and visual and dramatic arts) along with academically enriching curricula that meet children’s developmental needs and align with school standards. However, having strong curricula is only the first step. Critical to program quality has been the creation of a support system that incorporates key members of the school community and ensures that curricula are presented clearly so as to be accessible to a range of staff. Simply being located in a community school does not guarantee that an after-school program will align with the school’s academic goals for children. Rather, we have achieved this by partnering with the principal and lead teachers for program planning, by choosing curricula that support the school’s academic goals for children, and by hiring a lead teacher or staff developer from the school to serve as the after-school education coordinator.
