Abstract:
This diploma thesis deals with financial analysis of EUREST Company which provides contract catering in Slovakia. The goal of this thesis is to consider the financial situation and financial health of this company. This goal is reached by financial statements analysis, common indexes, using models for predicting bankruptcy or rating financial health, and by comparison with a company providing the same type of services in Czech market.

Abstract:
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major cause of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. In the first part of my PhD, we aimed to further characterize the role of scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI) in HCV infection. While the SR-BI determinants involved in HCV binding have been partially characterized, the post-binding function of SR-BI remains remained largely unknown. To further explore the role of HCV-SR-BI interaction during HCV infection, we generated a novel class of anti-SR-BI monoclonal antibodies inhibiting HCV infection. We demonstrated that human SR-BI plays a dual role in t

Abstract:
Spinal cord injury (SCI) is an acute and devastating event that results in significant and permanent life changes for the individuals who are injured, as well as their families and friends. Depression has received more attention from clinicians and researchers than any other psychological issue among persons with SCI. Measurement of depression in this population has a variety of methodological issues, including inconsistent assessments used (self-report versus clinical interviews), varying definitions of depression, inclusion and exclusion of physical symptoms in the assessment process, and us

The thesis discusses the advantages (disadvantages) of the employing part-time workers in the Czech and Slovak Republic. In each country, the part-time contracts are divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part of thesis the part-time contracts are described in terms of legislation. The practical part applies the theoretical part on illustrative examples. Conclusion includes evaluation of results and suggestions for possible improvements.

Li, You-Sheng. "Heat capacity measurements of Sr₂RuO₄ under uniaxial stress." Thesis, University of St Andrews, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/10023/16591.

Full text
Abstract:
The most-discussed pairing symmetry in Sr₂RuO₄ is chiral p-wave, pₓ ± p[sub]y, whose degeneracy is protected by the lattice symmetry. When the lattice symmetry is lowered by the application of a symmetry-breaking field, the degeneracy can be lifted, potentially leading to a splitting of the superconducting transition. To lift the degeneracy, the symmetry breaking field used in this study is uniaxial stress. Uniaxial stress generated by a piezo-electric actuator can continuously tune the electronic structure and in situ lower the tetragonal symmetry in Sr₂RuO₄. Previous studies of magnetic susc

The search for novel quantum states is a fundamental theme in condensed matter physics. The almost boundless number of possible materials and complexity of the theory of electrons in solids make this both an experimentally and theoretically exciting and challenging research field. Particularly, the concept of quantum criticality resulted in a range of discoveries of novel quantum phases, which can become thermodynamically stable in the vicinity of a second order phase transition at zero temperature due to the existence of quantum critical fluctuations. Cardiac function is regulated by the molecular components of the sarco/endoplasmic reticulum (ER/SR). Disruptions in homeostatic balance of these proteins and calcium regulation results in activation of ER stress response. Sarcolemmal membrane-associated proteins (SLMAPs) are found in cell membrane, SR/ER, and mitochondria. Overexpression of SLMAP in the myocardium has shown to impair excitation-contraction (E-C) coupling in the transgenic (Tg) mice. ER stress response was examined in Tg mice overexpressing SLMAP in the myocardium. In Tg hearts, changes observed in the expression of proteins i
