Abstract Survey lines were located in areas that had been pruned to control blister rust (Cronartium ribicola) 10 yr previously and adjacent control (unpruned) areas in 10 stands of western white pine. Roots of 50 healthy-appearing dominant or codominant aspen suckers were examined for signs of Armillaria root rot in each of nine stands (three each 3, 9, or 15 years after clear-cutting). ARBOTOM® 3-D tree tomograph is a non-destructive decay-sensing instrument based on measurements in standing trees. The accuracy of ARBOTOM® 3-D tree tomograph in detecting decay was evaluated for 703 standing trees in 27 Norway spruce (Picea abies) stands. Trees were measured at three different heights, 0 m, 1 m, and 2 m above the ground. Sections were later inspected for the presence of decay by increment borings and wood croscuts. This study examines whether Jamaica's free public healthcare policy affectedhealth status and labor supply of adult individuals. It compares outcomes of adults without health insurance versus their insured counterparts, before and after policy implementation. The study finds that the policy reduced both the likelihood of suffering illnesses with associated lost work days and the number of lost days due to illnesses by 28.6 percent and 34 percent, respectively.
