Abstract:
The spirituality of Jesus, embedded within the literary contours of the Johannine narrative, is primarily grounded in a relationship of affiliation and friendship. It is a spirituality of abiding whose origins and goal lie in the unity of heart and mind that the Johannine Jesus as Son shares with the Father. This core relationship connotes not only the love that binds Jesus to God but is also the basis of the motif of sending and the divine authority over life and death which Jesus possesses in this Gospel. Jesus’ spirituality is grounded in the abiding presence of the Spirit-Paraclete whom he bequeaths to the disciples. In handing over the Spirit to the gathered community through his death and resurrection, Jesus donates his own spirituality, ultimately drawing all creation into the divine circle of love. This spirituality is the result of the Spirit’s presence, restoring human beings to their original, created identity as children and friends of God and empowering them for mission. While the dominant imagery is masculine there are also feminine images, particularly that of divine Wisdom, which provide a counterbalance and create an inclusive sense of appropriation and welcome.

Abstract:
<em>This research examines the Catholic religious leadership style at Siwa Lima Vocational School, Tourism Vocational School and Sanata Karya High School located in Langgur, Southeast Maluku, to reveal and know four things: Style, spirituality, characteristics and the impact of Catholic religious leadership implemented in the three educational units mentioned above. The research was carried out using observation, interview and documentation techniques as well as the symbols that appeared on the research subjects. The results of the study show that Catholic religious who lead educational institutions, in addition to following Jesus&#39; leadership model, are also imbued with monastic spirituality which is lived and lived by every religious in the monastic community. The leadership that is carried is believed to be a gift from God and not merely a trust given by the Foundation. Leadership style as a servant, shepherd and caretaker is a leadership model that influences and inspires members with life examples and spiritual authority, which builds an educational unit into a community of love or school of love. The spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and John Maria Vianey greatly influences the way of thinking, feeling and acting of religious leadership in three educational units; a spirituality lived and lived by Catholic religious based on an intimate relationship with Jesus through prayer and the Eucharist. The quality of Catholic religious leadership based on this relationship has a concrete impact on: exemplary, discipline, selfless work, spirit of service, respect for each person, cooperation are the values that are fought for.</em>

Theology of the pierced side of Jesus Christ by example of Vita Jesu Christi by Ludolf of Saxony: The theology of the pierced side of Jesus Christ is one of the most important elements of the spirituality of the Divine Heart. The aim of the article is to show monastic inspirations in the interpretation of the biblical description of the piercing of the side of the Saviour using the example of Vita Jesu Christi by Ludolf from Saxony. This author had a great influence on many mystics and saints, and his meditations on the gate leading to the contemplation of the Heart of the Son of God, based especially on biblical and patristic texts, are an important contribution to the spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to this day.

Abstract:
The connection between art and religion is found in several places. The Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Ganjuran, Yogyakarta is proof of the cohesion between art and religion in Indonesia. Inculturation is the process of adapting Catholic teachings with local culture, one of which is with art. This study aims to describe the cultural unquenching that occurred in the Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Ganjuran Yogyakarta and its implications on the spirituality of the people. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods with phenomenological approaches. The results showed that the inculturation that occurred resulted in a variety of art activities and art artifacts including Javanese liturgy, liturgical gamelan, Javanese architecture such as pendopo (Javanese pavilion), Javanese versions of Jesus and Mary statues and temples. The spirituality of the people is awakened with the concept of Java which is thick in its worship. Liturgical gamelan is one of the integral components in worship that makes a bond as man's sacred activity with God. The contemporary aspect can be seen from the gamelan classical rules that combine with the choir that forms a new aesthetic. It can touch the people in feeling the presence of God through local culture. The cohesiveness of the value of art and religion can stimulate people to experience the same religious and aesthetic experiences in worship.

Abstract:
The aim of this article is to present selected aspects of the biblical spirituality according to writings of Saint Ursula Ledóchowska. The Word of God has the central position in the spirituality of the Founder of the Congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of the Agonizing Heart of Jesus. Mother Ledóchowska is the author of Meditations, that contain considerations based on specific fragments of the Gospel, intended for each day of the year. Her Testament is also full of biblical references and permeated with the evangelical logic. According to Saint Ursula Ledóchowska the meditation of the Word of God in the spirit of faith enables us to learn more and get to know better the person of Jesus Christ and to deepen the relationship with Him. Mother Ledóchowska, by her attitude to the Holy Bible, was ahead of the Second Vatican Council’s time. All her life was an active exegesis of the words of Christ.

Abstract:
The article Becoming what we pray: Three images, three voices by professor Michael Plekon presents three persons who were very important for Orthodox culture, spirituality and thought — saint Seraphim of Sarov, Mother Maria Skobtsova and Paul Evdokimov. Showing the most substantial facts from their life and activity the author exhibits the real transformation, metamorphosis of their personalities, hearts and consciousnesses under the action of practice of the Jesus' Prayer or the prayer of the heart. The main aim of the article is — one can suppose — to underline the role of the Jesus' Prayer in changing people who systematically practicing it in their life, and in giving them the power to go over the stereotypes, myths and customs, even religious. The heart of the matter is emphasizing — in positive meaning — the real close union between the prayer andthe life and the relationship with neighbour. Professor Plekon stresses that “the personaland interior aspects of this prayer are never separated from liturgical prayer and ourlives”. Christians believe in salvation and resurrection of Jesus Christ and they practice the Jesus Prayer, but this prayer formula is not only devoid of life meaning formula but it is the method of changing the whole human mentality, in each everyday circumstances concerning family, marriage, work, life in monastic community, doing shopping, reading books, watching TV programs, raising children, writing the scientific articles, being in different social and cultural situations, generally — it changes all, the vision of life and the universe.

Abstract:
In this study, I aim to emphasize that the psalmic prayer חָנֵּנִי יהוה (Lord have mercy) is the early form and the foundation of the Prayer of the Heart. It has been generally accepted that Jesus' prayer, in its established form – Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner – originates in the Holy Scripture, particularly in the gospels. In this research, I will prove that the New Testament contains an echo of psalmic spirituality. Those who first invoked God’s name and asked for divine mercy to be poured out on them were the authors of psalms. To demonstrate this reality, I will resort to the Eastern Orthodox interpretation method without excluding the interpretation rigors of the critical school. I will use the latter, especially when I tackle terminological delimitations and identify the occurrences of the imperativeחָנֵּנִי / ἐλέησόν. In this study, I will capture, in a few chapters, how the psalmic Prayer of the Heart (Lord, have mercy) became the prayer of the heart.

Abstract:
A twofold sensitivity characterizes Christianity. One is sensitivity to its inner core and the other is sensitivity to its surrounding culture in which it lives and communicates its message. The inner core is the person of Jesus Christ whom his followers experienced as utterly human and completely divine. This is the heart of Christian spirituality. It found its creedal expression in terms of one person having two natures. Although the different creedal statements responded to various Christological controversies and remained faithful to its inner core, neither understanding nor communicating one person having two natures has been easy. Matters came to a head with the anthropocentric turn of the modern period. Friedrich Schleiermacher showed his sensitivity to the changed culture, only to be castigated by Karl Barth for not being sensitive to the inner core. This article argues that studies in nature-mysticism found in the contemporary world enable us to understand the ancient metaphysical terminology of one-person two-natures and also maintain the twofold sensitivity. I do this by using the category of “person-mysticism.” “Person-mysticism” is about encountering God in another human person, understood as an extension of “nature-mysticism” that involves encountering the divine in nature.

Abstract:
In this article the author tries to bring out the biblical understanding of the Poor and Marginalised by George M. Soares-Prabhu and how he has hermeneutically interpreted the word of God meaningfully and relevantly for their salvation/liberation in the Indian context. Soares-Prabhu expounds that the thinking, feeling, and acting of Jesus, his radical option and revolutionary mission for the poor and marginalised are all based on his God experience as Abba in the first immersion of the river Jordan. That is the foundation of the life and spirituality of Jesus that leads him to the way of the Cross and death at Calvary where he had his second immersion in blood. Every disciple is expected to have these two immersions to follow Jesus in one&rsquo;s own context and bear witness to him by liberating the poor and marginalised. Soares-Prabhu explicates the Decalogue (OT), the sermon on the mount and the table fellowship of Jesus (NT), to bring equality, justice, peace and revolution, (change of heart and transformation of oppressive and sinful structures) to the poor, marginalised and the most suffering and oppressed Dalit Christians in India, all over Asia and the World. &nbsp;

Abstract:
Abstract Readers warm to Anne Lamott because she gives them permission to fail at their Christianity. She accomplishes this by providing lovable vignettes of her spiritual weaknesses and failures, as well as her surprising, grace-inspired successes. She is loved for her honesty and humor. She is not into a Big Picture portrait of the church or the world. Only the everyday. Conservatives love her for her Jesus-fixation but do not care for her liberal politics. Liberals love her for her politics but are uneasy with her casual access to Jesus. She has written many memoirs, but they all rest upon the brief account of her conversion in Traveling Mercies. There she tells of her alcoholism and promiscuity, her fraught relationships, her insecurities, and the deaths of her best friend and her adored father. Without this backstory, her funny and inspiring short stories of faith would seem to be so much feel-good spirituality. She is the most gifted writer of spiritual memoirs around—and the funniest and most likable.

Abstract:
Abstract Christians from the second-third centuries onwards seem to have been avid readers. Not only did they study the twenty-seven writings that later were to be collected together to form the New Testament, but they also heard and read other stories and sayings about Jesus and the founders of the church which were not in the New Testament. Many of the early stories about Jesus, his parents, and his disciples were supplemented and expanded as the church developed. Secular romances, the novels of their day, provided precedents on which the burgeoning Christian literary tradition drew. The curiosity of pious Christians about the origins of their faith was increasingly satisfied by a growing number of Gospels, Acts, and other types of literature. Much of this writing provided the popular reading matter of a significant number of believers. These second-third-century inventions may be judged as crudely sensational, magical, or superstitious. Little of this literature maintains the restrained spirituality of the earlier writings that eventually formed the New Testament. Nor do these ‘popular ‘ books match the highly intellectual theology of the church father ‘s, treatises that are contemporaneous with them. Yet these lively supplementary Gospels, Acts, Epistles, and Apocalypses testify to a vigorous folk religion which was sometimes deviant, even unorthodox, when compared to the mainstream Christianity that established itself, but which, in general, was perfectly normal and orthodox, albeit reflecting an uncritical, simple, even ascetic, faith. These writings characterized and stimulated a significant number of early Christians.
