Evaporative and convective heat loss from head skin and expired air were measured in four male subjects at rest and during incremental exercise at 5, 15, and 25 degrees C ambient temperature (Ta) to verify whether the head can function as a heat sink for selective brain cooling. The heat losses were measured with an open-circuit method. At rest the heat loss from head skin and expired air decreased with increasing Ta from 69 +/- 5 and 37 +/- 18 (SE) W (5 degrees C) to 44 +/- 25 and 26 +/- 7 W (25 degrees C). At a work load of 150 W the heat loss tended to increase with increasing Ta: 119 +/- 2

Nowadays, heat dissipation in electronic devices is one of the serious issues to be resolved in energy and environmental terms. Piezoelectric materials are being utilized in many electronic devices, yet the roadblock toward further miniaturization of piezoelectric devices was identified as heat dissipation. Three types of losses (dielectric, elastic, and piezoelectric) are known to be related to the heat dissipation mechanism of piezoelectric materials, therefore obtaining accurate values of the loss factors is essential for minimizing the heat dissipation of piezoelectric devices. Abstract:
The aim of this study was to estimate heat loss in the brown long-eared bat during hibernation depending on the refugioclimate conditions. The measured values of refugioclimate parameters were: ambient temperature (Ta) 3–10 °C, relative humidity (Rh) 74–98% and air velocity (v) 0.06–0.95 m/s. Heat loss was calculated using convective heat transfer equations. Mean heat loss amounted to 4 W/m2. The results were compared to the heat loss calculated based on the fat burned during hibernation. Bats flying into underground systems during the hibernation period were captured and their body mass was m

Abstract:
Roof models with low heat loss and low heating costs for buildings are crucial for reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in cold regions. This study aimed to calculate the heat loss for various roof models with low heat loss, which are widely used in houses in Europe and other cold regions. We created 324 models for three types of roofs (light, medium, and heavy) with different materials and thicknesses using the HAP program. We then trained a neural network (ANN) to generate a mathematical function that can be used to calculate the optimal surface using a multi-objective ge

Heat regulation is presented as the physiological method of handling metabolic heat, instead of temperature regulation. Experimental evidence of heat regulation from the literature is reviewed, including more than 20 years of calorimetric studies by the author. Changes in heat production are followed by slow exponential changes in heat loss, which produce changes in body heat storage. Heat balance occurs at many levels of heat production throughout the day and night, and at each level there is a related level of rectal temperature. Heat flow can be sensed by the transcutaneous temperature grad

The rankine cycle is widely used for thermal generators that use steam as a turbine driver in power generation plant. There are 4 main equipments in power plant with rankine cycle system that is: Boiler, Turbine, Condenser and Feed pump. Boiler is a tool to heat water up to steam with high temperature and pressure. Then steam goes into the turbine to drive the generator. The steam coming out of the turbine is cooled inside the condenser to be changed into liquid again. Condenser coolers are widely used in steam power plants is sea water, but some are using river water. Water becomes a working
